It’s astonishing how a lot of these independent animated short films have more love and care put into them than what Disney’s putting out right now.
Ikr like I can’t stand Disney princesses anymore and stuff like that it’s just too annoying-
The part when the camera zooms away from the wife is an amazing yet subtle touch to how the two were slowly becoming farther apart, and the moments when the two were close were really heartwarming, yet the parts where they were far away had a more melancholic tone. It just adds to the subtle brilliance of the delivery of the main message of being close to loved ones.
I love how throughout this whole thing they didn’t kiss, they just nuzzled and it was the cutest thing.
Ikr 😊
Does the dog kiss at the end count?
Nuzzles are the equivalent of a kiss for animals, it was still so sweet though
Ikr ☺️
That’s what I’m doing in my relationship, no kiss but nuzzled.
I don’t care about your critics.
Me watching this as an adult: “ their resale value on that house is gonna be AMAZING” 👁👄👁
me, also an adult: I just want to pet the corgi butt
Me watching this as an adult: I never want to not be able to see if my relationship starts to fail and be able to work through things with him if we do end up in a rough patch.
Me watching this as an almost adult: *stares at my oven with a terrified look*
Me watching this as someone who is about to be an adult: *oh no*
Me watching this as a teenager with ADD: "Lord that house would take at least 10 years to make considering just how expensive adding on to a house can be. Especially buying all new furniture. Although if they didn't hire anyone then it would be a lot cheaper. Also, why does the outside seem so much smaller than the inside of the house?"
This animation is just so…..great. How it was the cat who was afraid to lose the plan if they don’t follow it right now, how it was her who did it all eventually. And how it was the dog who helped her remember. They swapped places.
If this ends up tragic I will scream. I haven’t finished it.
Edit: IT WAS SO SWEET I LOVE IT OMG
I just noticed that in the beginning, the colors were very vibrant. As it went on though, the colors turned duller as the couple grew further apart. Excellent symbolism.
Fancy Pants also in the scene where the wife didn’t make it to the anniversary, and she makes up excuses at the table, you can see the camera zooming out (her becoming more distant)
also, their blush marks turned visibly a gray-pink.
Pretty much all good films do this.
But that doesn't make it any less good, does it?
It took me a while to notice that, but when I did I cried.
It wasn’t about opening a bakery, it was about working together and spending time together, that what relationships need. Yes, couples need income to support themselves, but with communication and time reserved for each other, the relationship is doomed to dissolve.

The heart breaking part is that the cupcake never broke! Just like their plan! They planned to build a bakery! But wanting more, their plan was forgotten, but not broken! Just like the cupcake 😢😢😢
Why is THAT heartbreaking; THE Cupcake symbolizes their Dream, and their Love for Baking & Each other; If the Cupcake broke; this would have an even SADDER Ending. . .
@New3DSLUIGI364 He/She means that the dream was slowly being forgotten. Therefore their bond dulling.
She didn't have to destroy the house she could have easily just sold the house and bought a house that fit their need
LifelessHawk Rule of drama was in effect during that scene. It's ridiculous, over the top, and maybe a bit counterproductive, but it's used for dramatic emphasis for breaking the distraction and submission into the corporate grind at the expense of their dream.
Yeah but the breaking down of the wall kind of symbolizes how their relationship broke. And that the house wasn’t needed since it was nothing to do with their initial plan.
LifelessHawk plus if they sold that house they would have to repair the hole
I think she needed to make a statement that words alone wouldn't do, in order to persuade him not to leave.

Я всегда говорил и буду говорить, что всё гениальное-просто. Простая история, простые персонажи и простая цель-главные атрибуты любого кино и короткометражек.
I love how simple the art style is in this it's clear the animators didn't have a massive budget but they put the limitations to there advantage to make a really beautiful looking animation I especially love the lighting and how it tells the story.
Oh hey, I just realized! Not only is the time spent in the rough waters of their marriage not wasted after they got through it, but even the experience they got working their jobs weren't to waste, either. The corgi worked his way to management positions as a barista, meaning he has a good grasp of customer service and how to handle people, especially in a bakery-like setting. The calico worked as an assistant in an ad agency, and was presumably good at it and got promoted, so she knows how to advertise and spread branding really well. Both skills are needed to run a successful store that'll stay open for a while, and they have over six years of experience as opposed to _probably_ winging it with the bakery at the beginning, and _possibly_ failing anyway. The rough patch not only was needed for them to realize what they mean to each other and their dreams together, but also how to keep those dreams steady and afloat. Feel like many people have realized this sooner, especially if it was intentional, but I didn't see much in the comments, so
That’s true!
I think it was intentional
Wait now that it think about it it makes total sense

6:11 I noticed this small detail, note how in the presentation, note how the 75% Yes side with both sides of the pie graph has not only food, but a carrot likely representing healthy food, meaning the Advertisement of Nutritional food over others and possibly, even cupcakes which may actually be on the 25% No side of the pie graph, so yeah this may symbolize the fact that they are not only following the plan but also, abandoning it, that was a little bit of an analysis of this scene, thank you.

@@jhelaiicatu2873 They're not. The guy's a dog and the girl's a cat
This short animation film still makes my heart break, and then pieces it back together.
I absolutely am in love. Not just with the characters and the style, but also with the sheer thought and effort that went into conveying everything without needing words. My favorite scene was when the dog says "You just don't get it. I can't...do this anymore." Sure, it didn't save budget by condensing that minute long sequencing with only music and animation playing into a short ten second yelling speech, but boy, was it effective. I understood through that single sentence what he was going through and, with the cat's reaction, what that meant for her, too. Another one of my favorite parts of this entire animation is how, originally, the cat was the one who usually stayed next to the window, and the dog was beside her. After they got some renovations to the house, the dog began to be the one sitting next to the light, and the cat began straying into the darkness, showing how he was shown to her dream and now he's the one who's beginning to adopt it, but now she's the one receding back, forgetting it all. It hit even harder when she...hit the wall even harder and tore that hole through. She could've been the one to rush to the dog instead of the dog rushing to her, because either way they would've been in the light, but the dog was the one to rush to her, to be with her in that newly opened light...Because all in all, just gazing through that window of possibility is just that--gazing. But now, through their own fair share of trials and tribulations that they both stuck through with the help of each other, they're done with just looking and now they both finally have the strength, with each other, to work with their own power to obtain their dreams of being together.
And what we learned from this: Always get the extended warranty on your oven.

Lemon Wedge sometimes people want a mediocre life. It sounds weird- but I’m sure many people dream about having a big family and living peacefully. Others, like the main characters, have big dreams. I think anything can be accomplished- as long as you work. And sometimes, you have to balance your dreams with reality too.

Keep doing this as long as you can your animation is wonderful just wonderful!

either follow your dream or follow your job
its absolutely difficult to pull off both, cause sometimes your job cant be your dream and your dream just wouldnt work well enough to be your job

HOW ARE SHORT FILMS BETTER THAN MOST MOVIES!!! I’M CONCERNED ABOUT MY ADDICTION TO SHORT FILMS!
The amount of detail put into this piece really shows. The richer they got, the colder the environment became. All of the colors are dull and lifeless. Even just having the glass dolls break, the subtle messages are sooo good. Really shows how money just does not buy happiness. Sure it can bring comfort but it's not worth sacrificing so much of what you love for it. This is just so well made. one of my all time fav animations for sure, just wonderful work

This is what marriage is. It's passion, and love, and dreams for the future at first, that evolves into responsbilities, and boredom, and ruts, and kids, and drifting apart........and then back together.......and repeat........and repeat........and repeat. There are times you can't wait to be together and times you wish you could just go your own way. You fall into and out of love over and over again. And if you just stick with it, before you know it, you're in your 70's and can look back at all you've shared and endured. We celebrate our 50th anniversary soon. And I'm so glad we stuck it out.
It's a really cute story. Makes me realise how most of people as a couple just lose connection with each other. Miss each other from the inside unknowingly. They keep on working to get money and have things which doesn't bring that much happiness. Instead we need a balance to in both work and personal lives. Work life gives up financial stability and personal life with each other gives up mental peace, relaxation, tiredness that we face in our day to day work life 🌸
everyone : *marriage goals*
Me: *house goals*
moral: don't slam your oven door
Gacha Koki ahahahah

This was amazing, I was almost at happy tears at the end
And not even a Pixar movie can do that
wow, this is such an underrated creator. this animation IS SO GOOD! but.. the creator isn't even verified? you deserve that silver plaque, Fernanda!
I love the corgi's doglike manners and co-dependant ways. And the cat's just doing her thing, like a cat.
I’ve just noticed she’s a cat I thought she was a corgi too oh my lord I’m so dumb
Perfect couples are not always 'same species' but persons who know their strengths and weaknesses and complement each other; are always willing to say "I'm sorry" , repair cracks and breaks....and of course 'have a plan and stick to it'.
I thought they were two foxes
I think he *is* a Corgi
@@dianachung8173 Well, I could kind of understand some mistaking the dog husband for a fox due to his muzzle and coloration, but.... the cat wife is so *obviously* a cat.... Tiny, gracefully small muzzle, little triangular nose. Foxes don’t look like that. Also, it’s right in the description. Why do people *constantly* mistake fictional cats with foxes? I will never understand that.... 🤷🏻♀
When she was breaking down that wall all i could think about was the repair cost cutting into the bakery budget
All I thought of was a demolition job
All I thought about was Sledge from Rainbow 6
All i thought of was "how is she that strong?!"
@@ptk2234 why wouldn't she?
Where did she pull that sledgehammer from?
Lot of couples need to learn from this short film
The bigger the house got,
The bigger the gap between their love got.
bootiful
👏👏👏👏👏
just like jeffree star and nate
I just realised that your profile picture is literally Alastor from hazbin hotel *_I see you are a man of trust_*
Annette Celia Rosemary shut up 😭💔
Moral of the story:
Ovens cause divorce
Apparently not. They do cause bakeries, though.
Throw out yours today to save your marriage
Blue Mugz
Ok that was a good one! 😂😂😂
Dont forget the refrigereitors
Blue Mugz does a stove count
Yoooo…I was literally crying when she cried…
This is such a touching and beautiful animation!
I absolutely love the story and the characters, problems mentioned here, themes…everything!
And the animation is really good, characters kinda look like these velvety to the touch little toy animals…
Now it’s one my favorite animated short films
Took me a second watch to realize that the Corgi actually has white hands and isn't wearing white gloves while he's in his fancy suit.
I couldn’t tell when he was wearing the suit.
Da Dragon Durp
XD
Da Dragon Durp Jesus how do i see you everywhere
Oddysea Cat
The white extends from his hands to the lower part of his arms.
