Drip system on top of ground cover is the way to go for sure. Being able to SEE a problem asap can save your plants and tons of expensive Time. Excellent Kevin! You and Sarah always think everything through so well. I appreciate You Two. Thanks. 👍
This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 Good video. Enjoyed! Have a great day Kevin and Sarah and all who follow. God bless always!
Your garden is coming right along and your cabbage how awesome thanks for all the good tips... Thanks for sharing stay safe and God bless you both and your family
YOU TWO MAKE IT LOOK EASY. I REMBER THE HARD WORK AND MISS IT. MY HUSBAND AND I GARDENED ON A SMALL SCALE YEARS AGO. LOVE WATCHING WHAT YOU DO, IT IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY.
I'm going to look into using this at my Sister's garden. Thank you taking the time to explain the system, as well as how well it stacks up with the others systems. I greatly appreciate all of your hard work in helping others as you homestead.
I installed drip irrigations in my raised bed garden last year and it was the best thing I've done in the garden in years!!! Saves time and money during dry periods. It uses so much less water than watering by hand.
for small scale gardening I recommend, and use, spot drip systems, I've got a hodgepodge of about 5 different brands components in 1/2 and 1/4 inch that all seem to play well with each other. It's more expensive than drip tape, but from my research it'll last a lot longer, I've got some 1/2 feeder line I buried a few inches underground running from my well to various garden spots, it's still moving water, and I accidently hit some of it with a shovel yesterday and it didn't break, it's been underground for at least 5 years, bits that have been in the sun for the same time seem to be in nearly as good shape! I think I read that soaker hoses are good for one or two years, drip tape is supposed to be good for 3-5 years, and spot emitters good for 5-10 years, but I've got some 1/4 inch stuff that's still in good shape after closer to 15 years. you can also get spot drip hose with emitters at regular intervals so you can do the hole through weed barrier method of planting and as long as you're accurate with your spacing the hose will just put water at the plant.
You can weave the drip tape down the plant row, say every 2 plants in and out, this keeps the tape closer to the plants. I just planted my few black heirloom tomato seeds this morning and some marigolds in the flower beds, warming up quick in sth east Tennessee
Wow when you stop talking the sound's from the background is beautiful from all the animals🌷 your used to the sound's but I didn't hear sound's so peaceful hugs!!!!
I really love watching you and learn so much. Last year here in Michigan due to rain we could not get out to till ground way to wet and high water table.. So we took some advice from someone on youtube and covered our ground moved the garden back to a little higher ground and hoping it will be dry when time. But we are going to try the fabric cover and install the drip system and following you for the know how.. Thank you so much.
I was concerned about your garden too after I heard of the coming snow. I know you guys are always on top things. May God continue to bless you abundantly!
What a great informative video - helps a lot of us novices understand better. Thanks heaps Guys Cheers Denise - Australia- hey cabbages look amazing !!!!!
My country invented the drip irrigation system and it's amazing how we can irrigate plant by plant in large areas. We did turn the desert into a blooming place.
Israel. When it comes to irrigation and anything related to water, we really master it. Water sanitazion as well. After every natural disaster around the world, we send teams of experts to sanitize the water. My brother is now in Mozambique in a team like that, after the cyclone they had. Water is life. The program is called WASH run by an Israeli institution called Israaid. We did the same in Guatemala, in Japan after the tsunami, and even in the USA.
mary jemison From drip irrigation we also developed nutrirragion wich means sending nutrients down the drip pipes directly to the plants. If you're curious check UA-cam for 'Israeli Water Technology'. We really came a long way on that. My father has been using the drip method since early 60's.
we changed over to a drip system very similar to yours, about 3 years ago. works great for us …. only difference I see is the ground cover …. we've always used hay and run the drip tape on top of the hay …. you guys have come along so good since I started watching you ….. great explanations
Very well planned Garden layout ..Always Enjoy watching your Great Shares ..Wish I could afford that System ..I will be keeping it in the back of my thoughts as I progess ..Great Team Work ..💖
You explain the issue at hand so well. You make it easy to do for first time gardeners. Also, do you have a cow or pigs yet? Can’t wait to see your next video. Each day I visit with you. Thank you so very much. Blessings from Montana
Glad you're feeling better Sarah. Thank you both for your explanations. Not boring at all and quite informative. Sarah you should see my loofa baby plants! They are doing soo good. All of them have their first real leaves. Still inside as we're in Ohio lol. God Blesa
Always a great informative video from you guys. Thank you for sharing, it's looking beautiful already and so wonderful to see life in the ground. God bless 🤗❤️🙏
Ok. Y'all are officialy my Heros !!! Ive had so many " I wonders " about drip tape etc. I always thought it seemed kinda difficult and complicated looking. ( because i have never even delt with it or watched anyone deal with it. Just saw it " dripping "). But now.. OMG.. It actually looks kinda fun !!! I like it though. So nice . Next year, if all goes well, I would like to get me a dripsystem. Although i do rather enjoy hose watering. I dont know why I love it so much but i do. lol
G'day guys awesome system I've been looking into putting tube drip system on my farm as we don't get a lot of rain here in the desert in Western Australia. Were still praying for rain to break this drought. Love you're videos keep up the great work, God bless you guy's.
I would love to know how you put liquid fertilizer through your drip system. You guys make things look so easy. Love ❤️ your videos! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the video. Great thoughts...however, please reconsider your pathway to growing space ratio. A 30" bed is a perfect size to step over, while you only need 10-12" of pathway. It looks like your going space is only a 5" wide bed with a 3 foot pathway :)
Excellent instructional video guys! Would love to have the area to build a garden like this. We're going for a Food Forest with the Back to Eden style. Working great so far. Adding more fruit trees, berry bushes and grapes this year. Our asparagus babies are popping up out of the ground! I am so excited to see them.....I never thought I could grow asparagus! Thanks for all the work you do to teach us. Blessings from NE Missouri!!
Great idea and thank you for explaining why you use this system and it seems quite perfect to me :-D Luckily my small urban garden can be hand watered and gives me some peaceful time in the garden
Thank for your drip tape videos! I've been trying to decided between drip tubes and soaker hoses for about 3 months now. With the power of 2 videos from you I just bought supplies for a system I hadn't heard of before....and used your traditionalist10 code! You guys are amazing and I really learn a lot from your videos 🙏🏻 😊
Just curious. I never knew that if you cut the head out when harvesting you cabbage that it will make mini cabbage . We always pulled our heads and never knew that they would do this. Kinda a fun thing for the kids to have baby ones. We like them on the grill. Your garden is looking great! There talking SNOW for tomorrow! April 9th. So much for April Showers bring May flowers . Really ! OMGosh ! I want to get in the dirty. Love hearing the roster crow. Blessing to everyone.
Kimberly Walders if you plant heritage plants you can pick one cabbage and not pick it, protect it using straw through the winter. The next year it will send a stock up and will produce its own seed
i enjoy your videos and this one is beneficial to me as i'm thinking of this type of system, BUT you left out one step that us viewers didn't see. i might not be the only one interested. how do you plug up the end of the tape? not being critical, but curious. thanks again for another great video.
Thanks for the heads up for Growers Solution...I ordered my tape/fittings yesterday. With the LT discount (thanks!) and shipping, I got out for less than $150 and will have my ENTIRE garden covered. I didn't hear you mention the thickness of your tape, so I bought the 8mil instead of the 15mil. Even if I get only a couple of years from the 8mil, I have enough tape for 3X my needs, so I should be good for a while. I've been meaning to do this for a few years, but I'm cheap, soooo... :)
Hello just want to let you know that I really like your channel love to see how you are doing things on your homestead wish I had this kind of info when I was a young man One question I have for you doesn't have to do with the video I watched some of your cooking posts and I saw that all of your frozen veggies had a lot of frost in the bags and wondered if you have thought about a vacuum sealer for them to prevent that when the food saver first came out I bought one and I used it for years and it was awesome I once had some crappie that I froze and put in the freezer and forgot about 3 years later I was moving and found that fish and cooked it up it was still in great shape no freezer burn not that you would let anything go like that but it worked so well on all my frozen food
You said you should use a water pressure reducer. Would you still need one if you used rain barrels as a water source instead of running your house water?
Thanks for the video. We've had good success and horrible fails with soaker hose - very inconsistent - drip tape is a good recommendation. Do you guys run your irrigation system off of your well pressure tank, or directly off your well pump without a pressure tank? We've had some issues with low flow systems, and I believe it is because we don't have a pressure tank on our irrigation line from the well, which causes the pump to build pressure and quickly and then cycle on and off very often.
So you can just cut your tape to the length you need and plug the ends? I am also interested in how you get the water from your well to the tape. Do you have a pump? I have rain barrels and was wonderi
2 questions..... What do you do with the drip tape for the winter? Have you experienced the tubing getting blazing hot in the sun and cooking the plants?
Hi guys, thanks for sharing your lives and knowledge with us. I'm interested to know what you use to run fertiliser through the drip tape? I looked in my local hardware store but couldn't find anything that attached to a hose.
Makes life easier for a gardener.
You guys have been a great help to me...thanks so much...Chris
Great video guys... What a great way to water your plants instead of spending hours doing it with a hose.
I love the way you explain everything very easy to follow. The cabbage look great.
Drip system on top of ground cover is the way to go for sure. Being able to SEE a problem asap can save your plants and tons of expensive Time. Excellent Kevin! You and Sarah always think everything through so well. I appreciate You Two. Thanks. 👍

Love how the two of you work so well together. Enjoy your videos!

they r such amazing teachers. i was hooked by respect when they taught rabbit processing & cooking but they also make gardening interesting!
I'm going to look into using this at my Sister's garden. Thank you taking the time to explain the system, as well as how well it stacks up with the others systems. I greatly appreciate all of your hard work in helping others as you homestead.
You two are really great. Thanks for taking your time to share all of your knowledge with the rest of us.
I really like the in depth information and hands on tutorials, bravo to you both!

Just stopping in to visit and enjoy my morning coffee , sure enjoy your hospitality folks.
I love how you guys have taught me about this, for when I increase the size of my garden. Those cabbage are gorgeous😍 God bless ❤️
Wow when you stop talking the sound's from the background is beautiful from all the animals🌷 your used to the sound's but I didn't hear sound's so peaceful hugs!!!!
Love all the great ideas and "how to" that makes it so clear to understand! Hoping ya'll had a great day at the farmer's market!

Very efficient way to water without waste. Great job. How're your bees doing?
I love this video. I would like to know where you got your auger and the drip system.
You said you should use a water pressure reducer. Would you still need one if you used rain barrels as a water source instead of running your house water?
Do you have a list of components for your drip irrigation system? Love your videos.
We had the same pattern of rain in north Ga for 3 years in a row. Definately made for some challenges.
We are doing it both ways this year. Under and over. We will see how it does.
Perfect, I've been looking into this and need some guidance. Thank you! 😊🌱☀️🌷💕

Great system... I would love to put one like that , but my planting is Permaculture and I don't have a straight row.
This is exactly what I needed to know, thank you.😁
Do you guys ever fertilize via the drip irrigation? I'm wondering how you could incorporate something like this. Say for fish emlusion
I've been looking into drip tape thanks for sharing!!
How would you use it with all pots now in ground
The other end of the punch you can use to put in the goof plugs in
you can also get the tape with 4in and 6in and maybe even others
Where did y'all get that white fence? It looks simple. That's me. Great job on explaining thr drip tape watering system.
