    Really appreciate this "small space" garden irrigation video. Your home and garden area is so inspirational to look at in your videos, but the size of this project (a common house backyard) is much more relatable to most home gardeners. Thank you for including a smaller project, from start to finish. It becomes very relatable to the average gardener. Love all that you do, both big and small.

      @@Dingle1234 for winterizing we have our sprinklers blown out. For this I would assume you would just unplug from the faucet, though I would be concerned about residual water in the drip lines.

    This is very important, Renee got it right. You are required by electrical code to put any electrical wires that go underground in a metal or electrical grade conduit rated for outdoors and bury it anywhere from 18"-36", depending on your local codes.

      I'm near the equator and we have half the year in scorching heat (~39 °C) and half the year in monsoon rain/typhoon. It's awful 😂😂😂 I would rather have dry climate and I can control moisture myself.

    • @seanaames6855
      @seanaames6855 Рік тому

      @AlltheArtsy
      The problem with living in a dry climate is that water is a finite resource. We only have so much that we have access to underground, and refilling the aquifer takes hundreds of years, so we won't have access to water for a vey long time, if we run the Aquifer out. I think I read somewhere that our Aquifer refills at a rate of less than an inch per year. We live in NW Kansas. Western Kansas/Eastern Colorado/SW Nebraska have been experiencing drought conditions for a long time, so our Auquifer isn't refilling at the rate that we are using water from it. If I remember correctly, Eastern Colorado, NW Kansas, and SW Nebraska are on the same aquifer.

    If I’m the blessed winner I will definitely buy a Drip Irrigation System from Gardener’s Supply Company.
    Every day I spend 3 plus hours watering my garden in the intense South Florida heat almost all year long. One of the best things about this is the idea of saving money, time, not having the pain in my hand from holding the water spray nozzle, and the conservation of water is exciting to me because not only the irrigation system will give me extra time to enjoy my beautiful garden but the freedom to take a vacation with my 3 kids for a week not worrying about my plants being under stressful circumstances or in the worse case dying.

    It would be so fun if you did a video on adding up all the materials for beds, greenhouse, irrigation etc just to see what this project would cost the average person. I know that this is probably not realistic for a “Saturday” project for most, but it would be something fun to get an idea on how much it would cost because then people can take inspiration from it, or save up to do something similar :-) I love watching your inspirational projects and someday I will have a garden great as this!

    Excellent, I ran drip irrigation much like yours to 6 beds on my patio so I had to go up a post and across my patio. and drop down at each post to feed the beds but it works great. I only used the brown 1/4 inch lines with emitters and buried them below mulch to stop the sun rotting them. The brown lines never have plugged in 3 years so I am happy with them. Nice video, showed why plumbers make the coin!! Too many different fittings and thread types. It take a layman a while figuring out exactly the parts needed, however a few spares come in handy in case of breakage etc. Thanks.

    Installed 3/4" x 100' garden hose with a 7/64 hole drilled every 5' along a row of 18 blackberry plants. We have ~60psi service pressure. I left it on overnight (not intentionally) a couple of times in March and watered them a good bit off and on throughout the month. My water bill for March was FIVE times normal; 32,000 gallons. Had them check the meter and got a daily use chart. Not a water company problem. My hose at that pressure expels ~600 gallon per hour through 18 7/64" holes. These better be the best damn blackberries EVER! 🙂

    Thank you so much! One of the first things you convinced me to do was setting up drip. I think it's been five years and I still don't have it done! Every year I get a little closer. I have most of what I need. Watching the set up helps immensely & motivates me to make this year THE year.
    How long do you think it will need to run? How do you determine that?

    Loved watching the process you did for the drip system. You definitely inspired me to try this at our house. I love that you provided the parts you used and why. I feel like I can do this at our house. My husband installed raised beds last year and I have been a little overwhelmed at the thought of putting in a drip system but feel like I can do this after seeing your video. Thank you!

    In my zoon 6b, we get an average of 30 inches of rain a year. Some years it gets a little dryer. My house connection is a long way from my garden, so I'm thankful for the rain most of the time! I'm still loving those raised beds!

    This was SO helpful. The thought of setting up drip gas felt very daunting, but this explained it all so well!

    You always seem to hit on timely (for me) topics! I'm planning on installing irrigation to several areas of my garden. Even though I live in MN 4b, and we tend to have adequate rainfall, I have areas that remain consistently dry. Gardener's Supply catalog just arrived with a spread on irrigation! Would use the $500 gift card for that. Trying to work smarter, not harder. Thanks for adding so much joy to the world Laura!

    I am so happy you have a Drip Supply list. Last year I was thinking about installing some drip irrigation in a few areas in my garden and I got overwhelmed with all the products available. Seeing your list just made it so much easier to get the things I will need. Thanks a ton.

    I commented on the water last video. I feel so much better now 🤣!! I agree the drip system is a must. I watered by hand for a while in my new place and at first it’s kinda fun but quickly becomes a chore. First week away from home motivated me to get drip going and it’s SOOOO worth the effort. Looks great!! Can’t wait to see what she grows now.

    I’m loving the drip system system video, my husband and I are fixing to do this on our property and are needing to go back through all the archives for guidance!

    You are so helpful!! I only found you maybe a few months ago, and now that I have I am constantly referring back to different projects that you have done to help navigate through my own! Thank you so very much! I just started thinking about putting in some raised beds, did a quick UA-cam search and got a playlist of all of your information! Love it!!

    Thank you thank you thank you! I’m a visual person as well and I could not wrap my brain around how to do this in my garden. You have given me the courage to move forward.
