Really appreciate this "small space" garden irrigation video. Your home and garden area is so inspirational to look at in your videos, but the size of this project (a common house backyard) is much more relatable to most home gardeners. Thank you for including a smaller project, from start to finish. It becomes very relatable to the average gardener. Love all that you do, both big and small.
@@Dingle1234 for winterizing we have our sprinklers blown out. For this I would assume you would just unplug from the faucet, though I would be concerned about residual water in the drip lines.
Please tell Aaron we appreciate his excellent camera work ! You guys work so well together . I love that Aaron knows you so well and is fine with you just doing it myself syndrome 😊
This is very important, Renee got it right. You are required by electrical code to put any electrical wires that go underground in a metal or electrical grade conduit rated for outdoors and bury it anywhere from 18"-36", depending on your local codes.
What a wonderful thing to do for Aaron's sister. She has received a huge blessing!! Most of us could not give a gift like this even if we wanted to!!!!
Hello Laura & Aaron, what a fab vlog. Your visual presentation of all the required watering tape was amazing. It made me feel that I could tackle this project. Everything in this garden is coming together wonderfully due to you and Aaron's hard work x
I’ve been watching garden answer for years and this has to be one of the most useful videos yet! You just made it so easy for those with smaller yard space to set up drip irrigation. Thank you for the high quality informative video! 😊
This was extremely helpful. It seems like an intimidating project to me, but taking it in phases and showing us the process is really helpful. Thanks so much.
Aaron's sister is one lucky lady. Now Aaron's and Laura's "favorite old aunt" needs all this stuff done to her flower beds...😂. You 2 (and I know there's other people like you) are pretty darn cool for helping out with family, friends, and other people to make the area around their homes beautiful. I admire and thank you for helping out other people with your knowledge and experience with all the things you do.
This makes it easier for us newbies to really get started. Because some of us are visual just like you Laura. Thanks to both you and Aaron for putting this together.💞
I would like to have the garden beds to grow food for my family. I've just turned 58 and I had to quit my job during covid to watch my grandchildren so their moms could work because they are essential workers. It would be fun to get my grandchildren involved with the whole process. Thank you for the videos Aaron and Laura! Bless you all
This video makes me thankful we live in a place where regular rain happens! We do have some areas of our garden on drip but we paid someone to install it cause it is a pretty complicated process. But now we aren’t needing to use it very much cause we’ve had so much rain lately. You guys have excellent expertise!❤
I'm near the equator and we have half the year in scorching heat (~39 °C) and half the year in monsoon rain/typhoon. It's awful 😂😂😂 I would rather have dry climate and I can control moisture myself.
@AlltheArtsy The problem with living in a dry climate is that water is a finite resource. We only have so much that we have access to underground, and refilling the aquifer takes hundreds of years, so we won't have access to water for a vey long time, if we run the Aquifer out. I think I read somewhere that our Aquifer refills at a rate of less than an inch per year. We live in NW Kansas. Western Kansas/Eastern Colorado/SW Nebraska have been experiencing drought conditions for a long time, so our Auquifer isn't refilling at the rate that we are using water from it. If I remember correctly, Eastern Colorado, NW Kansas, and SW Nebraska are on the same aquifer.
You are so sweet to your sister doing all this work. God bless you far more abundantly then you ever imagined. I never thought you'd need so many parts.
My husband and I have been developing our cottage garden few 3 years! When the Gardener's Supply Company catalog arrives in the mail I start dreaming! I would use the gift card to start building an enclosed raised garden area!
Thank you so much, Laura and Aaron. I have been waiting for a video like this. Irrigation from start to finish off a faucet. I watched the video 3 times.😂 so helpful
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. Haven’t had a garden for 30 some years and at 75 years old decided it was time again. This will make my life and enjoyment so much nicer. The summer heat in southwestern Oklahoma makes it unbearable to even go out some days. This granny is going to sit in the window and watch her garden grow this year.
Love how informative this video is and easy to follow. You two work great together . Little mess and made this process look simpler than I had imagined . Thanks lucky sister !!
This is seriously so great!!! It really helps us with one space that needs an overhaul and there are so many new gardeners that just don't know where to start. Thanks for all you guys do!
Instructive and helpful. Thanks for the attention to detail as I am a “visual” learner. Very excited to see phase 4 +! Loving this project for us “senior” gardeners it would be manageable. ❤ Thanks!
Incredibly helpful, you guys! I've been trying to work up the courage to do this for my raised beds and with our drought last year, I might just do it this year. Imagine me outside in my garden area with my laptop while your video is playing, showing me how to do this...LOL. I for sure will refer back!! Thank-you so much, Laura & Aaron!!!
This is SO informative! I've been wanting to install drip at my sister's and my boyfriend's mom's house. This makes it seem much more attainable. Beautiful work from both of you. Thanks so much for all that you do!
The drip line transition from the faucet to the delivery line was a very helpful explanation. That’s where I have gone wrong in the past. Excellent instructions for setting up a new drip system correctly!!!
Finally after how many years of us asking, begging for a drip tubing video! Yay! and Thankyou! I've wasted so much money doing hit and miss on my drip tubing. Even my handyman couldn't get it done without wrong parts here and there. It definitely takes an experienced person to do it the right way..
This series really helps me see what you can do with a blank slate. This week while working on some of my flower pots I’m really wishing for some of those smaller garden Obelisk’s.
I was able to set up all of my drip tube by watching your multiple videos on how to do this! The way you teach it has been invaluable for me! Thank you!
The timing of this video is perfect. I have been procrastinating on ordering our drip irrigation supplies. It was a little overwhelming to know how many, of each piece, that I needed. This video was a huge help and I finally made my order. It only took me a year to decide and purchase everything.😂 thank you Laura and Aaron.
As I sit here with Laura on the TV giving the weekly update, I have Laura talking on my laptop so she's in stereo. This has been a great example for those of us with normal sized yards in neighborhoods. If I won the gift card, I would buy two of the raised beds with the copper caps - either two squares or two rectangles and either design in parallel or an L. Good luck to me.
I keep intending to set up a drip system. You make it look so easy. I know it will make my life so much easier, and my plants happier and bigger. I have got to get it done. I spend hours watering! Thank you for the encouragement!
Thanks for mentioning all the bits and pieces for the whole set up. And not skipping on how you installed the whole project. Very helpful and easy to follow. God bless you all.
Ok, so I’ve been watching you for years and seen many, many of your videos about drip but this one was different.. something about showing the trenching I suspect. Tho whole thing was VERY informative & im grateful for it!! Thank you so much for all the detail! 🙏🏼😊♥️
This looks so beautiful! I have watched you lay drip to so many of your projects but this video relates more to my small space and the step by step is so helpful. I may tackle this project this weekend!
Alleluia yes finally. I wanted you to show us what a set up would look like if it was from any ordinary city garden. Simple and straightforward . Thank you
Loving this project so much! Raised beds with drip all set look so tidy. My last garden was all in the ground & a ton of maintenance. I’ve been wanting to build out my backyard, but it seems overwhelming when I make the list of everything I need to do. Seeing it broken down in phases makes it seem more doable.
I watched this over and over to help me set up my new irrigation system for my vegetable garden. So helpful! I love how it’s all coming together! I need to shop at Gardener’s Supply more.
Always inspiring with your projects. If I’m the blessed winner I will definitely buy a Drip Irrigation System from Gardener’s Supply Company. Every day I spend 3 plus hours watering my garden in the intense South Florida heat almost all year long. One of the best things about this is the idea of saving money, time, not having the pain in my hand from holding the water spray nozzle, and the conservation of water is exciting to me because not only the irrigation system will give me extra time to enjoy my beautiful garden but the freedom to take a vacation with my 3 kids for a week not worrying about my plants being under stressful circumstances or in the worse case dying.
I used a combined pressure regulator with built in filter. Would definitely advise adding a filter before everything (straight off the tap before the controller). Really helps avoid problems with stuck valves and blocked drippers.
It would be so fun if you did a video on adding up all the materials for beds, greenhouse, irrigation etc just to see what this project would cost the average person. I know that this is probably not realistic for a “Saturday” project for most, but it would be something fun to get an idea on how much it would cost because then people can take inspiration from it, or save up to do something similar :-) I love watching your inspirational projects and someday I will have a garden great as this!
Thank you! This was very helpful! I have been wanting to set a raised bed and some pots up on drip. It always feels so overwhelming but you have convinced me we can do this! Can all your materials be ordered and from where? Could you list all the parts you used please? You are both so kind and I love watching every day ❤
You ideally shouldn't be running permanent extension cords ever. Better to wire in a new outlet with underground direct burial wire or wire in conduit. Extension cords could generate heat in an enclosed space such as conduit.
I just learned how to efficiently dig a shallow trench thru my grass! What amazing teamwork. I’m showing this to my husband. We are retired and I struggle with too much digging and bending over. Thanks for passing on your tips to help us fine tune our time in the yard so we can enjoy more time enjoying it. 😊
Thank you, thank you! I learn by watching and seeing and you guys are the best teachers! Just put in a new bed and now we understand how to run the drip!
Love how this raised bed garden turned out! Will you show us later how it looks after the plants have grown?! With Gardeners Supply I can see buying some beautiful plants for our backyard. Thank you Gardeners Supply and Garden Answers. Stay safe.
Looks AMAZING so far! Your sister-in-law is very blessed to have such a sweet, kind and loving sister like you.. thanks for bringing us alone in these amazing videos that you and Aaron and your family make... If I won the $500 gift card from gardeners supply I would definitely love to get some obelisk or towards a greenhouse.. Thanks gardeners supply for offering this
I love the new bamboo support collection at Gardener’s Supply. This project is a great example of a small scale garden and I appreciate the drip irrigation tutorial. Thanks Laura and Aaron!
Both you and Aaron make it look so easy and simple. Great job and your sis n-law should appreciate it highly. Now, I am motivated to try running drip tubing to my front yard.
I've been binge watching your videos since last week when your new land video from 3 years ago popped up in my suggesteds. YOU and AARON are inspiring. Your videos are excellent, very well edited, your instruction and commentary is thorough, invaluable. This is one of my favorite channels now. THANK YOU for sharing and teaching. Oh and your gardens and property are to die for....just marvelous. Keep up the good work.
This is the perfect video series presented at just the right time for so many of us. Thank you Laura and Aaron for all that you do for us - we have all learned so very much. In regard to your partnerships, I am also now the proud owner of wonderful products that I never knew existed, but have helped to make me a better gardener. As for a $500 gift card from Gardener's Supply, there are so many things that I would love to have, and so many that I can use to make my garden sustainable, pretty, and enjoyable, and that will also make gardening so much more easy and fun, from planning, to planting, to harvesting, and greenhouses, protection from critters and insects, plant supports, trellises, seed starting, etc., etc., etc. Gosh, I could just buy the whole catalogue!
This was incredibly timely as I started to add drip irrigation to my new little garden. Your videos have given me the confidence and information to get the job done. I’ve loved learning so much, succeeding and failing, at times, but always enjoying following y’all.
I am also a visual person and your videos have helped me install drip in my raised bed garden! The "on and off" feature on the drip is so nice! I'm going to upgrade my set up this season!
Thank you for this video! It is so clearly laid out. I set up my drip system two years ago by myself for some window boxes , then my husband and I had fun adding more to the front yard landscape. I am going to change a few things after watching. Well done.
Seeing raised beds in a small space is really helpful, and it looks gorgeous! Thank you for the tutorial on this type of drip system. You explain all the steps and needed products so well!
Thanks for showing us how install drip system again! It really helps that you’re in a “smaller” garden. Helps me picture how to do it at my house! I love it when you do projects at peoples homes!! Thank you for the inspiration you provide me!!
Thank you for showing how to connect everything to the faucet, Laura. I see now where i was going wrong and why i was having leaks! In going to follow your hookup system this year.
Gardener's Supply has so many great options and this is such a great partnership! I'm torn between the self-watering elevated planter boxes and the raised gardens. I'd also love the hip holster tool belt and the lifetime potting trowel. Lots of good choices. Thanks Gardener's Supply and Garden Answer! Make it a great day and an even better week.
This is a great video of how to installed a irrigation system. I’m going to show my gardener because it’s so hard to explain so he can seefor himself what he needs and how to install it. Thanks, Laura and Aaron great job.🌺
Thank you, thank you, thank you for showing exactly how to put together a drip system using garden hoses!!! I want to get this done for summer so I don't have to hand water so much this season. Thank you for so many wonderful gardening tips over the years!!
Excellent, I ran drip irrigation much like yours to 6 beds on my patio so I had to go up a post and across my patio. and drop down at each post to feed the beds but it works great. I only used the brown 1/4 inch lines with emitters and buried them below mulch to stop the sun rotting them. The brown lines never have plugged in 3 years so I am happy with them. Nice video, showed why plumbers make the coin!! Too many different fittings and thread types. It take a layman a while figuring out exactly the parts needed, however a few spares come in handy in case of breakage etc. Thanks.
This is a great video series. Please follow up with an update later. We all would love to see and update on the other landscape project you did for your friends earlier this year.
Installed 3/4" x 100' garden hose with a 7/64 hole drilled every 5' along a row of 18 blackberry plants. We have ~60psi service pressure. I left it on overnight (not intentionally) a couple of times in March and watered them a good bit off and on throughout the month. My water bill for March was FIVE times normal; 32,000 gallons. Had them check the meter and got a daily use chart. Not a water company problem. My hose at that pressure expels ~600 gallon per hour through 18 7/64" holes. These better be the best damn blackberries EVER! 🙂
Thank you so much! One of the first things you convinced me to do was setting up drip. I think it's been five years and I still don't have it done! Every year I get a little closer. I have most of what I need. Watching the set up helps immensely & motivates me to make this year THE year. How long do you think it will need to run? How do you determine that?
Loved watching the process you did for the drip system. You definitely inspired me to try this at our house. I love that you provided the parts you used and why. I feel like I can do this at our house. My husband installed raised beds last year and I have been a little overwhelmed at the thought of putting in a drip system but feel like I can do this after seeing your video. Thank you!
In my zoon 6b, we get an average of 30 inches of rain a year. Some years it gets a little dryer. My house connection is a long way from my garden, so I'm thankful for the rain most of the time! I'm still loving those raised beds!
You always seem to hit on timely (for me) topics! I'm planning on installing irrigation to several areas of my garden. Even though I live in MN 4b, and we tend to have adequate rainfall, I have areas that remain consistently dry. Gardener's Supply catalog just arrived with a spread on irrigation! Would use the $500 gift card for that. Trying to work smarter, not harder. Thanks for adding so much joy to the world Laura!
I am so happy you have a Drip Supply list. Last year I was thinking about installing some drip irrigation in a few areas in my garden and I got overwhelmed with all the products available. Seeing your list just made it so much easier to get the things I will need. Thanks a ton.
I commented on the water last video. I feel so much better now 🤣!! I agree the drip system is a must. I watered by hand for a while in my new place and at first it’s kinda fun but quickly becomes a chore. First week away from home motivated me to get drip going and it’s SOOOO worth the effort. Looks great!! Can’t wait to see what she grows now.
I’m loving the drip system system video, my husband and I are fixing to do this on our property and are needing to go back through all the archives for guidance!
You are so helpful!! I only found you maybe a few months ago, and now that I have I am constantly referring back to different projects that you have done to help navigate through my own! Thank you so very much! I just started thinking about putting in some raised beds, did a quick UA-cam search and got a playlist of all of your information! Love it!!
Thank you thank you thank you! I’m a visual person as well and I could not wrap my brain around how to do this in my garden. You have given me the courage to move forward.

This video is going to make history as one of the best drip system tutorials available!!! Kudos for a job exceptionally well done.
I,d love to see a written version of this process with a materials list!
Yes please!!!!!! I just came to ask the same. I just spent this weekend research this very thing, so great timing.
Yes, and any instructions for winterizing?

It's so wonderful to see this garden come together. The close up of the drip installation was super informative!
Just for safety purposes, the extension cord should be run through conduit. You never know who (kidz) could be digging in the yard

Love to see you guys getting in there with your hands in the dirt actually working with great knowledge to share.
Nice. VERY needed in Sacramento!! First time to see the drip tape and will definitely look into it. Thanks.
Thanks for showing us how install drip system again! It really helps that you’re in a “smaller” garden. Helps me picture how to do it at my house! I love it when you do projects at peoples homes!! Thank you for the inspiration you provide me!!
Thank you for showing us how to connect drip to an outdoor faucet. This is really helpful. Have a Blessed week.
Oh my word! You made what I thought a difficult task something even I can do! Thank you a million times over.
Those drip lines are seem helpful I would like to have in my garden . Laura is very good in explaining it out .
Soooo sweet of you guys to do this for her!!! ❤ Lots of work but so nice to have!!
Thanks.
Thankful that you shared how to set up the watering system! So helpful to have a video, especially for a visual learner like myself!
Great way to show how you can garden in a typical suburban size backyard. This is inspirational!!
This was SO helpful. The thought of setting up drip gas felt very daunting, but this explained it all so well!
Thank you Laura for this video! Thanks to you I have set up three drip lines because of your great instructions! What a blessing!
Thank you for making it so simple to understand and showing the process. It feels so much more manageable now!
I am so happy you have a Drip Supply list. Last year I was thinking about installing some drip irrigation in a few areas in my garden and I got overwhelmed with all the products available. Seeing your list just made it so much easier to get the things I will need. Thanks a ton.
I am a new gardener and want to install drip tubing, this video is SO HELPFUL, thank you so very much!
Oh to be your sister in law. She must be thrilled with the project! So awesome! Thanks for bringing us along.
This is tremendously helpful to those of us that have been intimidated by irrigation systems. Thank you soooo much!
