Ingredients
Sabudana / Sago - 1 Cup
Potato - 1 No. Chopped
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tsp
Roasted Peanuts - 3 Tbsp
Green Chili - 2 Nos Chopped
Juice Of 1/2 Lemon
Curry Leaves
Coriander Leaves
Water - 1 Cup
Oil - 2 Tbsp
Salt - 1 Tsp
Method:
1. Soak 1 cup of sabudana in 1 cup of water for about 4 hours
2. After about 4 hours, strain the sabudana to remove any excess water, and keep it aside.
3. Heat a pan and add some oil
4.Add cumin seeds and roast them, add chopped potatoes and fry them well
5. After they have turned to a golden brown color, add salt, roasted peanuts and fry them well
6. Add green chilies, curry leaves and mix well
7. Add the soaked sabudana and mix well
8. Once most of the sabudana pearls turn translucent, add lemon juice and coriander leaves and mix well
9. Serve the Sabudana Khchidi hot with some curd.

If you want the grains to be separate and not clumped up like how it is shown here, add coarsely ground roasted peanut powder at the end.
Thats not needed when u wash and soak the sago pearls properly

They key to a good khichdi is the soaking process. You have to add very little water only until the sago is just soaked. So it should have a very thin layer of water above, only then you will get a good khichdi.

Boiled potatoes and coarsely grinded peanut powder is added ,whole process is wrong ,its looking good but not tasty
Agreed!! Boiled potatoes & crushed peanuts are used in it👍.Also if it's for fast, then sendha namak or rock salt should have been added!

This is not actual method i guess. Always add coarsley ground peanut powder to soaked sabudana and then add to kadai they dnt stick at all. Ur sabudana were like small lumps while serving
People do both ways, I have seen people who like little lumpy sabudana

Ur water proportion seems not okay, therefore your sabhudana / sago is sticking.
Plus additional ,if you add a bit of coarsely added peanuts, it's amazing.

Bottom of vessel/colander water is dripping tht makes sabudana upma/kichdi into lump or slimy. In such above case of more water still sitting at bottom- put all that sabudana on to a cotton cloth to soak extra water

Yes, can use roasted sesame seeds.
You are not supposed to use sabudana just after taking it out from the water . You have to keep it in cover for atleast 1-2 hrs so that there will be no lump in the kadai.
Coconut powder is also used at some places with grounded peanuts.

It's super sticky and for good sabudana khichdi, sabudana needs to be soaked for at least 8 hours.

This s a Maharashtrian style javvarisi upma..lemon is not at all used . Also coarsely powdered peanut should be added.not whole peanuts.. side dish is sweetened curd.
