loved it; very realistic i witness events like this when i travel. interesting when the white woman said "i'm not a piece of meat"; its the black male that they're treating like a piece of meat and everyone is okay with that
We know where that mindset stems from. The Auction Block.
beama451 PREACH SOMETHING PROPER
Great short film that sheds light on the problem of the cuckold fetish, sex tourism, sex trafficking and prostitution, not only in the Caribbean, but Asia, USA and globally. This is a serious and disgusting problem. These tourist are nothing more than predators, rapist and / or molesters. Most people who fall victim to sex tourism and trafficking are underage.
What's even more sad is the number of STD, HIV and AIDS cases that arise from these situations. Just the thought of someone engaging in sex tourism, as a way to "survive", and passing a disease onto there wives, girlfriends, husbands, or boyfriends makes me angry every time. Sorry, there are other ways to make money. I rather struggle making money selling snorkeling packages (or doing something else) than participate in sex tourism. Despite having tough times with money, at least my health and dignity would be intact. Most people around the world would agree.
Interesting film. Somehow I'm not too shocked that these foreigner white people are taking advantage of these young Caribbean men. Pretty creepy.
Very creepy
Being from the Caribbean, yes you can say being taken advantage of but some of them, enjoy "pimpin" themselves out, US dollar is so strong to our dollar, they make a good living, especially those with no educational background
fyi 1 tt$ is worth 20 canadian cents.
Damn! I'm from Haiti and the last time i was there, 1$ US was worth 8$ in Haitian money, which is 40gds
Gymaican I Agee with you, I don't see anyone getting taken advantage of. I'd say it's a fair exchange but of course we can say that they are fetishizing the Caribbean man.
Well done! This short film really brought to light some of the issues with the tourism industry and racism.
it is good to see some Caribbean cinema. I am half Caribbean and when I visit my family hats one thing I honk about all the time. how many great films and shows can be done on these beautiful, diverse and energetic Islands.... thanks Issa for shining a light on all works not just what you have done before or what others may expect.
+issa Rae excellent film :) anyone else miss "First" I really loved those episodes ❤ :)
I do
Me too...Hope they bring back another season!
+Krista Cooke Yeah "First" is a great WebSeries...
ToriKelly fan first is my all time favorite!!!!
I found this to be a more contemporary styled "Smile Orange", where the women came for the "sun and di ting"! It made me so sad that Anne, with her beautiful self was stuck waiting on him.😢
Smile Orange.. what a classic
trini massive!!!! w. the exception of like 2 actors. this is awesome I lowkey hate the subtitles but I understand why they have to be there.
not to be too critical but for a film shot in Tobago I rarely heard a Tobago accent.
+Ebonnie Taylor Agreed. Fellow trini in the house. Hate subtitles on Caribbean movies
Triniiiiii
+Stacey1234 so why did they have subtitles only for the Caribbean accented people and not the white aussies? They weren't speaking American English either.
+Stacey1234 I definitely said I understand why they're there.
This really goes down like this to. I just recently watched a documentary about white women doing this exact thing.
Hi. what is the name of the documentary?
Shoot, I don't even remember. Dang it! I just happen to come across it one day. I do remember it was on a beach in Africa and these white women would rent out these little rooms close to the beach. The young men would be out there and the women would choose who they wanted. Sorry I can't remember, it was a while ago.
+Teasha Stewart Simply search here on UA-cam using keywords: "Sex Tourism" Africa. You'll get several video results.
Yep. I had a white-passing friend who traveled to different countries along the West African coast and said that locals would proposition her thinking she was one of the white women who came there looking for sex. It's a huge issue all over that doesn't get talked about at all.
Almost brought tears to my ears hearing authentic west indian accents. Thank you for this!!
This was good I found it very interesting. the actors were great
Yes great acting!
I liked this. I am really loving the diversity in the #ShortFilmSundays.
I noticed the same phenomenon when I lived in Thailand. Older white men would be seen with younger Thai women. It was a common sight in Bangkok where sex tourism is big business for the foreign expat and tourist community.
In Thailand there's no stigma when it comes to prostitution like there is in Western culture. It's actually shameful to not provide for your family than it is to work in the sex industry. Also I can guarantee most of those Thai "women" were lady boys.
You should pick this up!! I loved it. Big ups to the writers and crew!
When I used to style American catalogs, I had a high end (household name) luxury retail client that shoots on location in the Carribbean regularly, and the client rep used to love picking up young island men on jobs there. She was so flagrant with it she would occasionally invite them in pairs to team lunches and dinners! I was younger then and wasn't totally sure what she was up to beyond flirting, but now in retrospect I understand completely why we on that team were allowed more outlandish room bills than usual, and offered extended stays at the resorts at production rates, and always had our invoices rushed through the company for payment within 2 weeks vs. the normal 30 days to 3 months ...she was distracting us and making sure we'd keep our lips zipped about her tropical sand shenanigans on the company's time and dime. I remember liking her a lot, she was actually an easy going boss, very nice lady to work with with no attitude whatsoever (which is uncommon in fashion hierarchy) but seeing this, I do wonder how many penise payments have been filed under "petty cash expenses" over the years of her tenure at that company? Again, she always liked a PAIR...
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love I don't wanna wait in vaaaain Anne girl not everything that glitters is gold
Yes,come thru with Bob
Omg! This was filmed in my lovely island Tobago! Repping Trinidad and Tobago!! 🤗🤗🤗
I appreciate the Caribbean representation. These things really are common here. Great short!
This goes on in a lot the west Indies.... Sad but true I here crazy stories from my family back home in Jamaica
This goes on in The Caribbean, South America (esp Brazil), Africa, Asia_ you name it. Sex tourism is a big industry.
+xola xosa thank you.... But in response to the earlier comment about Columbus I didn't need the history lesson I know my history really well and I am well aware of my history I didn't know posting comments under UA-cam added up to writing an college assignment.
+Amanda Bassier Ms. Bassier. If you "know your history really well," then kindly use it in your everyday life (versus writing OR talking like someone who does not know their history). Implementation of one's education is not reserved for "special occasions" or circumstances. Peace out.
+xola xosa False...
this was difficult to watch and absorb. makes me angry toward the education system failing the youth -many of them having to result to this. great film, very necessary.
This! Pervy tourists buying sex for cheap is only a symptom of the deeper issue. Too many black majority countries have failed their people and left them vulnerable to this kind of thing.
M Barnes this is happening everywhere not just in black countries
Anne is so beautiful, too bad her "man" was too busy selling his dick for some white pervs.
Good stuff. Always nice to see films made at home. It's sad that I'm from Trinidad and Tobago but I don't recall hearing about this short and it was made in 2014. We are making some strides but lots of work still to be done in the film industry here.
This is excellent!! Deserves a few awards.
I want MORE!..You cant just leave us hanging like that Girl!!😊👍
who likes short shorts? Ndi likes short shorts.😚
DAMN! I can't believe this shit really happens!!!!
yes! been following this channel forever. nice to see a film set in my twin island republic!
Man, where can I listen to the full version of that reggae song at the end? I love it.
Search Gregory Isaacs "Don't Believe In Him".
DaPhlyymamee Thank you so much! I thought it was Gregory Isaacs :)
This was really good but didn't need the subtitles.
I don’t really understand strong accents like this so they were needed lol
I too was wondering why the subtitles were necessary
Sexual tourism is a big industry in the Caribbean and Africa. All over the world for that matter. Especially parts of Asia . I have seen both black and white people engage in it. Both black and white Women partake in sexual tourism quite as is kept.
that was hella interesting
How depressing was that, nah? smh
LOVEDDDDDDDDD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great film! Salute to all involved.
I've watched this several times. Wish it was longer
Loved it!
It reminds me of Mexico
MY HOME!!! Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹😭✨😄
I liked this short.. Of course was disgusted by them khaki folks and the way they were 1st disrespecting the sanctity of marriage, and 2nd treating that brother like a damn object, but he must like it as long as the money is good right?? But the chocolate eye candy I saw esp beach boy with the maroon shirt on, calmed my nerve…. Got me about to plan a trip to the islands :). But as usual, great Job Issa… Keep it up.
trinidad jump up ehehehehehe

My friend and I went to PR and she did this.I'm actually not surpised. She screwed the beach boy & a few other guys.
So GOOD
Were the subtitles necessary tho?
Very good and interesting film
Why was Sheila putting bleach DIRECTLY on those sheets? This whole thing was creepy....subtitles seemed unnecessary.
+Jessica Williams It look like one of the "milky" beyotches had her period on deh sheets. Sheila was "pre-treating" & sanitizing deh sheets dem - ehh. (Although with the direct bleach treatment, the sheet fibers go soon dry-rot. LOL).
SoundScientist1 lol
Because of the the accent the subtitles were needed some people have a hard time understanding us islanders
+Hairouna Empress Seriously? Seems like overkill.
Well next time close your eyes and listen you should come to canada even the news has subtitles and 9 out of ten tv shows has voice overs for the hearing impaired stop whinning
yes i luv it
What's the name of the whole
movie??
At least the guys from the island are not trying beg for money from the tourist. Poor Anne.
Wow!!

And this is why I don't believe coconuts when them come over here with grand stories of their riches in the West Indians.
that looks like tobago.
bella Ami it is!
Should have work those extra hours girl
What can I say. This is life in the tourism business in many countries, whether we like it or not. Lack of education, poverty, unfortunate backgrounds, undesirable people in their society, lonely people especially the not so beautiful women or men or the lonely aged women who are exploited with false love for their money and the kinky lot like that couple. I have seen some of it in Tobago and Jamaica where it is blatant. Sad that one has to live this way, but I guess, if you are that desperate for money and it is the only way to make it this is how you could survive. Yes, maids do search your suitcases, that is why you should lock them up so that even your fancy cloths and other valuables don't go missing. She was a beautiful lady but guess what, they are looking for the tourist who is there for a purpose and who has the money. When I see these things, I feel blessed that my life does not fall in this category. I probably would have died.
Ann wanted that loser guy and turned down the one who liked her ive seen this a lot with a few folks i know its very sad and sick gawk over a heartless muscle freak and diss a kindhearted gentleman not cool at all. Its sad people lust over the wrong people and get hurt in the process this is if their is in seeking love mode its a shame
She's not obligated to be with the 'nice' guy she isn't attracted to just because he liked her. She has a right to go after the person she wants, even if he is a loser.
Besides the other dude out talked his nice friend. She may not even realize the nice guy liked her.
O.o kinda, well completely lost!
Oh so this is y tourists come here?
That ending was corny and divisive.
:(
white women............ ofc.
Poor taste:(
What exactly was the point of this film? hmmm this was a fail.
think it was just kinda a look into resort life in the islands
+Truly Inspired Rewatch it. The lives of those at the resort re connected.
The begging on the beach is a little annoying. I understand they are trying to make a living but they BEG you, follow you and pressure you.
Guys, I'm not rich..I just saved up enough to visit your country and relax.
Btw, Tobago is beautiful. Seems very romantic.
+Maacanto Fay srsly stfu
