For a song about disassociation the imagery matches it pretty well with its metaphorical representations of modern society. He even sings it in a sort of monotonous way to give the impression that he's under a spell, and then the woman comes in and sings from the soul in the midst of it all as sort of call to wake up. Impactful version. Roger still knows how to make a statement as much as he did with his concept albums.

"F the Poor!” “Steal from the Poor!" …”Give to the Rich!” The spirit of Jonathan Swift’s “Modest Proposal” etched into the side of a floating pig hovered over and haunted the 15,000 plus energetic crowd at the Tacoma Dome during last night’s Roger Waters’ “This Is Not A Drill” concert. An incredible night of music, messaging, politics, passion, singing and video, graphical representation and symbolism that didn't hold back and wasn't shy about Waters' commitment to progressivism and his fight against those in power and the extent they employ to repress dissent to maintain the existing orders and the powers that be. Waters' antifascist stance, his proclamation for democratic principles and human rights was celebrated in song and graphically pronounced in anime and video that was as stunning as it was startling in clarity of message and forceful aesthetics. One of the best concerts I ever attended due to the integration of music and imaging. Water's was a forceful speaker and singer who conveyed his gratitude to the people in attendance and his privileged position to be able to articulate his politics... The concert began with a powerful anime of a society descending into a urban morass of deconstruction and mass disconsolation of a compliant society accompanied by "Comfortably Numb"... it was followed by "The Wall" and the first half of the concert highlighted a sampling of Waters' career and the formation of Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett... after intermission we were greeted by a fascist harangue "Hammer" in the vein of Orwell's "1984" followed by "Sheep" "BLAAAA” bleated Waters’ with a sheep drone floating through the arena and "Animal Farm" the dominance of the pig turning everything upside down to justify the domination and privilege of the Oligarchs... the rest of the second half was a presentation and performance of "Dark Side of the Moon" incredible imaging and bad ass sax playing hitting all the right well known and beloved high notes.... after "DSM" a beautiful song and a walk off of all the musicians evocatively captured by live video of them thanking the audience, all the workers in the arena, all the workers employed in this massive production and a general display of joyous gratitude.... an incredible night of music, free speech and I couldn't help to think that what we witnessed was probably close to what Waters and Barrett envisioned when they started Pink Floyd... I'm so glad I exchanged my opening night tickets at the Seattle Symphony for a March concert of Carmina Burana.... I can wait.... My friend was absolutely right….I was not disappointed….

This flew over 85% of the crowd's head, literally and figuratively. They're only there for the rollercoaster ride, and to go wooo down the peaks and ooo here it comes, the thing we all remember, sing along don't think about the meaning too much. Similarily that's how good stories and religious text works. That's how it tanscends. People just replicate it for simple reasons and it carries on, gets used for power, good and bad things, but the story comes through, carried in its little package across the unsuspecting generations. And every now and then someone understands, and the payload explodes, and whatever message was carried in there fulfills its purpose.

Kristin Petrelluzzi great seats and wonderful video. I am sitting about 12 rows from the floor in Phoenix, where were your seats for this show?
Hi Mike, we were just one tier up from the floor which was better than the floor in my opinion because the screens are huge and raise up so being one tier up we were eye level with the screens. We were very happy and this is coming from a person who generally rides the rail! Cheers, enjoy the show and thank you for the sweet comment, appreciate!
Going on Aug 16! Excited to say the least. Bringing whole family. I had to look at the setlists and bummed not to see Dogs, Time, Great Gig, and a many other "favorites" but there is a lot of other good stuff of course- can't squeeze everything into one night unfortunately.
One of the only boomer musicians with any credibility left.
Funny thing is he doesn't snowflake.
Haiii... I n my 4 friends plan to go to Roger Water Concert on Bologna 21 April next year.. my question is what is the best location to see ? Among us, we have different opinion : some say standing around stage ( close to the RW, band Player) , some say sit behind (because more able to see giant sceeen better).. thank you...
I would say 1 tier up is the best view of all.
@@kristinsomethingitalian thanks you for your information..
At the beginning Roger told me to f-off if I didn't like his politics and I said but Roger I paid 450 dollars for 2 tickets. By the end of the show I was wishing Roger would have given me my money back at the beginning so I could have taken his initial advice.
