AC, I've been watching your videos lately (recommendations) and I really appreciate all the effort, time, and patience you put in your videos. This video alone shows it and I cant wait for more to come. Keep up the good work and I'm officially subscribing now!
Thank you very much for the comment, means alot! i enjoy reviewing racquets, but being new to video editing and just voice overs it definitely takes alot of time, i'll keep doing what i can for the meantime, appreciate it
I loved the classic feel of the xi98. Feels it bends or flexes more uniformly. The entire thing is more predictable than the new ezone because the neck doesn’t flex as much. and the face is very solid. No arm issue to report so far, and I string it at 40lb. I have no idea why should yonex discontinue this frame. In my opinion it is a better offering than the dr and all gens after.
your review made me pull the trigger and I am happy to get it as they are drying out except for Nick, he smashes like 20 each year and still receiving new ones with blue paintjob. LOL
Nick Kyrios is such a rare talent. I am never dissapointed in the entertainment value of his aggressive playstyle. I am surprised by his personal spec. I would have thought he would be closer to 335-340 SW. It is definately a user friendly spec for many advanced level players with a more modern swing style. Well done on your presentation! I think you could use this frame well and maxamise your results with it.
Sorry late reply! i also thought the same hey, it's refreshing to know we can use some of the pro range specs (emphasis on some lol) - thanks for the feedback
Definately agree on using some pro player specs and completely avoiding others. I think John Isner and Andy Roddick's set ups would not be suggested with heavy extended length frames with very high SWs. My arms are already breaking. 😂
I ve played since last year with dr 98 for about 1,5 year. But getting better and better, playing with better opponents , i couldnt return with depth heavy balls , even thouth i put a lead tape of 2 grams on 12.I ve tried so many polys in different weights but nothing changed.I have it still in my bag because i feel maybe a ll use it in near future.Any ideas ? Nice video as allways!
DR has a low swingweight to begin with, you need to add quite alot to make it totally stable, more about the swingweight, needs to be 330+ to feel that solidness
I have his racquet too. He puts a bit of lead tape on top of the racquet under the grommet. Your racquet may not be match used. So the specs may differ from what he actually uses since he does customize a bit. I have a brand new one of his but it's not lead taped or siliconed. I'm a bit surprised with the review since I found that the racquet pockets the ball really well. It's quite plush with a lot of power. It's def one of the best racquets, in my opinion out there. It's very easy to swing and not punishing to miss the sweet spot. I would rank Novak's PT346.1 better and more plush than Kyrgios' racquet.
All PT layups are going to be the softest on market, Kyrgios's is basically just a retail Xi with a paintjob, and subtle modifications Mine was match used but i didnt open up the head guard, didnt want to damage the frame lol
@@ACTennis Ah. if it's matched used then it's customized to his specs. There should be lead tape that covers most of the word 'isometric'. His personal match used racquets are very expensive. I personally found Kyrgios' stick very plush and comparable to PT sticks. I played with Yonex retail before but found it very stiff.
I really didn't like that Xi98. Felt stiff and tinny. Surely, the only reason he uses it is because he's simply used to it and has been using it for a long time? Can't be because there aren't better Yonexes out there!
Yep spot on, not a 'great frame', but it's just cool to see that someone with such skill that they could utilize something so-so and be going head to head with the GOATs
@@ACTennis If he had grown up under different circumstances, I reckon we could have easily seen him using a Pure Drive or whatever. Don't know about you but when I was first learning tennis, I sort of adapted my game to the characteristics of the racquet, then I got used to that particular type of racquet, and it just sort of stuck. Do you reckon his game would improve if he switched to a different racquet or made it heavier? That Xi98 doesn't really add much, and he's got a bit of lazy style of playing at times.....I wonder what would happen if you gave him an Aero Pro or a PT57A and forced him to use it?
@@svlagonda7417 His game would look quite different if he used something like a PT57a, i feel he needs to keep that racquet head speed, so i don't think going ALOT heavier would be a good option, but literally just using an AI or DR and really any other frame in the same playing categories as the EZONE lines would probably help him with the injury issues to the upper body His weapons are what makes him so deadly, too many players for many generations have been great at everything but a master at nothing, so he would be best to stick with aerodynamic game But also 5 to 10 swingweight points higher would be no different to him, since his low swingweight could also cause issues along using the Xi, just because of the added shock hammering him on 200km+ every first serve return, and having to swing out harder for the same output
Hes a tough one that's for sure, but i thought id have more trouble playing with his when i tried, his swingweight is 360 mine is 330, grip size 4 and even 5 sometimes, and im grip size 2 🤣 but oddly actually not impossible to use!
To be honest, the XI is not a bad racquet performance wise, alot of people dont like it because it has a not so great feel that may not be so healthy for your joints long term Which basically means you should be looking to try the Ai98 or the DR98, basically everything the 98 tour can do, but better feel and easier to swing But if you dont mind 350g and 330 SW, and 98 tour is easier to get your hands on, 98 tour is a a great racquet
AC Tennis Thanks for responding :) , I have some Xi98’s and like them, but they are very harsh outside of the sweet spot. I’m used to heavier sticks, so will give the tour a try with a leather grip.
Hey mate, i saw your comment on my Gravity video asking about my string setup, it disappeared not long after i got it so i couldnt reply I use thin gauge and sharp poly, so around 1.15mm tour bite, 1.18 dunlop black widow or 1.15 msv co focud hex soft, that usually does the trick for power and spin - also makes it lighter and easier to swing
Didnt generate enough interest for the time and effort it takes to make videos, so just prefer to make things the general public are more interested in

That's a cool intro. Enjoy the new concept - it's exciting. I suggest playing with whoever has the heaviest racket next. Curious to who it would be.
That might be Murray or Dimitriov 😁

I think the Xi performs better in every category except for the feel and stiffness, i didn't like the 305g Ezone 2020 at all really
