  • The Kingdom of Airsoft complete R-Hop installation guide, version 1.
    A clear, accurate and professional guide detailing the methods we use to consistently install R-Hop patches perfectly the first time, every time.
    I've tried to go through things assuming no prior knowledge, except that R-Hop patches exist and roughly what they're used for.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks for taking the time to do this guide Sam. Very informative, and its great to see how its done step by step with the fine tuning. Fills in the gaps that other guides seem to miss or skip. Looking forward to trying this out

    Great video. I'm about to embark on the process, but my barrel does not have a square cut hop window. It is 6mm at the bottom but opens up to 7mm at the top meaning both of the sides have an angle to them (its a prometheus krytac 6.03). Is it better to use a 6mm long r-hop patch with square cut sides (as you do in the video) so is it not touching the sloped sides of the window but has wedge shaped gaps where the hop window edges rise towards the outer diameter of the barrel or use a 7mm r-hop patch that I shape to fit the hop window cut out with no gaps i.e. it has tapered ends to take it in from 7mm to 6mm to match the shape of the hop window? I'm not sure if the shaped r-hop will be hampered by the slopes and not get pushed into the barrel properly by the flat m-nub. if there's no real difference in performance, the square cut 6mm option would seem a simpler install than shaping the r-hop patch to fit the non-square hop window.

    I'm trying to figure out if i can install an rhop in an APS APM 50 shell ejecting sniper. It's got the hopup disabled, but do you think a TDC mod + an rhop mod will do the trick? i'd artificially tap the outer barrel and make my own hopup screw to apply downward pressure onto the hopup.

    Hi Sam! Really good video, thank you for uploading. Just question! Everything clear for me about r hop. Because is perfect guide from you! BUT! What about small nub In hop up chamber? You still put in chamber the hop up nub or just leave… Maybe is silly question but I’m fresh in Airsoft. That’s reason why ask… waiting your answer… thank you

    Hello I have seen some people hold down the patch by wraping ptfe tape over the patch and then placing the rubber of it. Does this work or do i need to glue it down

    • @Jvha761
      @Jvha761 6 років тому

      John Riches That tape method doesn't work. I'd prefer that buy some silicone tube from amazon or ebay, they come as long tubes. Cut a patch from that and it doesn't matter if you fail since you have that whole tube. When you glue the patch, stick some cloth or paper inside the barrel so the glue wont run in the barrel. And what's better, usually the tubes are really weather proof so your hop works even in super cold temperatures. I've done this method to my every gun and works really well, its a lot cheaper to do that than buy pre-cut version

    Great Video....gives a great insight into how to do an R-Hop and removes some of the black magic associated with the process.
    Was think of trying a modified hop for the first time and was going to try a flat hop as the first one....in your experience are flat Hops any better than the standard hop supplied in some AEG's and would you attempt this as a first modified hop.

    • @KingdomofAirsoftUK
      @KingdomofAirsoftUK  8 років тому

      +Graham Swan I've had limited success with flat hop modifications.
      I found that they definitely gave extra backspin, and therefore range with heavier ammo, but lacked the consistency I wanted.
      I quickly moved on to R-Hops.
      I can't say I've tried many of the drop-in solutions that are now readily available.
      If you have a play around, definitely share your results :)

    Very nice video KOD. Can you link me where I can purchase this RHOP in 3 pieces? and also it seems you have a 6.05 ID of edGI. is this the best ID that you can recommend? im planning to change my Innerbarrels but not sure if I need a tighter one or this 6.05
    TIA.

      +X PH Sorry about the delay in responding here.
      Where abouts are you based? Many shops carry the Z-Kit; Airlab in the UK and Clandestine in the States.
      The barrel quality is much more important than the specific bore diameter.
      What's the gun, barrel length, fps and ammo that you're using for your setup?

    I run a 554mm PDI barrel in my CO2 tapped KJW M700, what would the extra cost be like for an rhop on the PDI barrel?

    Love the installation guide, very, very helpful for those of us beginning the R Hop journey. Just one question, I've seen others suggest removing the ridge from inside the bucking that locates in the groove on the outside of the barrel as well as the bucking mound, which you removed, and then rotating the bucking 90 degrees when installing so the bucking exposed to the patch is un-sanded, Have you not found this necessary?

    • @KingdomofAirsoftUK
      @KingdomofAirsoftUK  8 років тому

      +Barry Keane Not at all.
      It seems like people do that so they're not putting a rough, uneven surface atop the R-Hop patch but if you sand it gently as shown here, that's not an issue.
      You're also introducing a slight air leak by removing the line that usually fills the groove on the barrel.

    This was quite nice. I enjoyed it. But the second part should also be included and can sometimes be tricky. Installing the little nub. I manage to screw up that,let's called "the easier part". Hey,I would like to ask...from which Sorbo pad did you make your nub? I would maybe like to try out one,or two. Thanks,and again,very nice an educational video!

      +Ljudevit Binder Apologies for the somewhat late reply.
      I was trying to get the install done as quickly and efficiently as I could without making any mistakes.
      I hate editing tech videos as I feel that takes away some of the credibility and reduces potential learning experiences.
      This meant that I completely forgot to film the last little part.
      I'm going to do another install video where I go through the whole process.
      I use offcuts from 70D Sorbothane sheeting that is donated by a friend of mine.

    Can u please explain how a perfect R-hop is? :p you say it all the time when sanding... and i dont know how the edges are supposed to look, for it to be perfect!

    • @KingdomofAirsoftUK
      @KingdomofAirsoftUK  8 років тому +3

      +Daniel Hatlevik I do apologise; I use 'perfect' as a remark of satisfaction.
      I generally mean that the surfaces are smooth and match the inner bore of the barrel precisely :)

    more descriptive detail... but the lack of video ruins it in hindsight.. the segment of gluing the edges are vital to see and explain, such as stroke from the exterior edge, downwards along the outside so none of the glue gets smashed into the window when pushing the patch into place.... getting loctite in ur barrel is a game ender for most or average non tech savvy person or kid. Guys.. gluing the barrel is essential, but be aware if your like some people I know of, that attempted this with their only gun, not being able to replace anything and gummed the barrels up, one guy glued his bucking to his barrel, via patch by accident because he used Loctite Gel, which apparently acts different and stays tackier longer.
    Just my 2 sense from personal experiences. Great way on cutting the patch out and sanding. Carbon Fiber Arrows at Walmart are 0.99 and are 6mm perfect diameter, for those who don't have access to a 6mm rod.

      Just drop the end in acetone. Should break down the superglue. Then swab the barrel

    • @KingdomofAirsoftUK
      @KingdomofAirsoftUK  8 років тому

      +unfussylobster
      I use the original patches.
      If you use this method, you can get it perfect every time with a little practice.
      It takes a bit more work but it means you always get three installations from each pack instead of one or two.
