Wow!This method worked for me without cold treatment ,my nectarines seeds sprouted very well ,I have my other seeds that I put in the fridge for a month and a half haven't sprouted, your method worked very fast, my seeds germinated in a week time, thanks a lot for helping me, you are a genius!!
It is amazing how you are able to germinate so many different seeds through your patient trail and error! I never would have thought to try cherry seeds! They looked pretty good after germination...they just didn't want to take off after planting them? Great video!!🪱🪱🪱
No, they didn't want to take off after planting! I don't know why because this is what I usually do with some other seedlings and it works. Cherries just don't like fully cooperating with me for some reason.
Great video, I'm glad I watched this first. Thanks for posting! Another gardener said you can try sprinkling Cinnamon on seeds to prevent any bacteria or mold from growing. I might try this on half my seeds and see what happens.

I crack the kernels, put the seeds straight into compost and give it a good soak. This avoids more handling, breaking seeds and roots and stems, the mold that often forms in the paper towel method. Too much sun can kill the tiny plants to start off with.
I've stuck some cherry seeds straight into potting mix and have only gotten one to germinate. I've tried different ways. Cherry seeds just don't want to germinate for me, but I hope your comment helps someone else!
@@vesgardens A numbers game often and plus supermarket seeds can be considered nearly free. It is an interesting activity, I always enjoy seeing what I might get when seeds are planted from supermarket stock even if the germination rate is poor for cherry seeds. (In the wild the germination rate doesn't seem all that great, from my own observations.) Aside from cherries I've done all sorts of seeds from the supermarket eg plums, nectarines, oranges, lemons, apples, lychees, mango (outside cap removed) (very high germination rate when planted straight into compost for the above), pears, pecans. I think all people who try have a curious and optimistic streak.
I like seeing what I'd get too. When I first got into germinating store bought fruit seeds I was germinating any and everything. I remember looking up a company and found, even though it wasn't on the packaging, it had a trademarked name and/or is patented. That got me wondering if some were sterile because I could never grow anything from them. Definitely became more mindful after that. Hope all of your fruit trees are doing well, especially the lychee if you have it.
@@vesgardens There certainly are a small number of food producers who go so far as to protect certain varieties of crops with genetic engineering to have sterile seeds and seeds that need to be chemically activated for germination. But the majority don't. My fruit trees have done very well. Plums, nectarines and citrus have yielded good fruit. Lychees in soil have done very well. Other lychees I have kept in glasses where I'll fill with water during the day to cover the roots and empty on the evening, have stunted growth - wanted small plants. Lychees produce lovely red leaves that turn green as they mature. No fruit off the lychees or mango yet. I've tested many other seeds, stems, tubers and bulbs from the supermarket to reliably produce crops eg potatoes, sweet potato, ginger, garlic, all manner of dried beans and peas, brown rice, butternut squash, mustard, cumin, coriander, chili, fennel, flax etc.
I've left seeds in the fridge for few mos, also have left in the freezer😮😮😮ps, Love cherries & hope that they are good for arthritis, makes you w❤nder why this seed of all would contain something harmful as poisonous cyanide?? when googled are the cherry seed edible?not the hull itself🤔?
Adding cinnamon to seeds while germinating stops mold. Its a natural remedy and it works. I have only one cherry seed germinating in the fridge. The rest are still sleeping or wont germinate yet.
Took me a year and i got one to grow from like 10 seeds! My mistake was leaving them too long after they had little roots. I should have planted them all. I'd have ten plants now instead of one 😔
The fastest way will sprout in 3-4 days. After soaking for several hours, peel the skin membrane and also open the skin covering the prospective roots. Then, put the potential roots on the seeds into moist Cocopeat. You don't need to cover them up, let the seeds show... then cover the container so that the Cocopeat remains moist. Place it in a bright place but not exposed to direct sunlight. In 2-3 days the seeds will change color to green and will germinate within 3-4 days (depending on the quality of the seeds). The second method is after the skin membrane is peeled, the seeds are soaked, the water content only half the body of the seed, don't let it sink.. the important thing is that the potential roots get water.. the seeds will burst after 1-2 days after they burst. Move them to cocopeat in the same way, place the potential roots facing down.. then cover the container so it's moist... deep within 4 days the seeds will start to sprout... from the results of my experiment... within a week 4 leaves will come out... Good luck... sorry for my english🤭
Before using cocopeat, I sterilize it first by dousing it with boiling water... sterilize the container with alcohol and sterilize my hands with alcohol so there is no mold.
It can be done without cold stratification. Missing a lot of important steps though. Stop using tap water. Use distilled water with hydrogen peroxide (50/50mix) soak the seeds for a few hours then place them in the paper towel (not dripping wet)in a ziplock bag with no air inside. You should not have any mold and still germinate without the cold stratification. Many steps after but this should put you in the right direction and control the mold.

Out of the other videos, your relaxing teaching voice made learning your way the easiest.
I'm glad. Thank you.

Let me know your results! I plan on testing how well the cinnamon works too.
its been 1 month! what happend?
good stuff. i just ate about a half dozen cherries and am about to try this method, i got all those tools too so this is gonna be fun
I hope your seeds germinate!!
@vesgardens thank you and I hope so too!
I'm going to try this. You have beautiful hands.
This is the best method I've experienced for breaking open the seed. Thank you so much. 👏🏼😀🙌🏼 🍒
I'm glad it helped!
Thank you for this! I found a cayanne cherry tree in the woods. I want to try this with the pits! TYSM!❤❤❤
Oh cool! Good luck! I hope it works.
Many thanks for the tutorial! :) I'm trying to germinate wild himalayan cherry without stratification. I'm interested to see if this will work
I hope it does!
Thank you very much for sharing this method 😁 I subscribed to your channel and gave a like 👍
Thank you
@@vesgardens you're welcome 😁

Thanks for the cherry tree seeds lesson today
You're welcome
I liked your english pronunciations, and the way of speaking.
Thank you

you do not fold stratify?
Thank you because I was just soaking the shell!!!
❤❤❤thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
sprinkle cinnamon on the paper towel to prevent molding.

I've read it can cause the most problems when chewed. Accidentally swallowing you should be okay, either way I try to avoid ingesting them.
Hello good video. How long did it take to germinate?
Thank you. I believe it was 2 to 3 weeks.
That technique for cracking pits is too clever 🧠
Add some cinnamon as anti mold. No plastic bag, and keep them in the refrigerator. 🎉
I heard adding a little cinnamon will stop them from getting fungus.

Is their a substitute for cinnamon?
Great video
Im trying this method as we speak. I will let you all know how it went. Ty for showing this video. ❤❤
I hope you get some germinating!
That's great 😊
Took me a year and i got one to grow from like 10 seeds! My mistake was leaving them too long after they had little roots. I should have planted them all. I'd have ten plants now instead of one 😔
How do you get them to grow roots ? What kind of weather do they grow in ?
Oh no! I hope you try again! How is the one tree doing?
awesome!
Thanks!
i read cinnamon helps with them not rotting
3 months back I will put in the tissue place in fridge but now seeds will be not germinated
Some don't germinate and sometimes they can take a lot longer too.
Do you need to wet the paper towel when it’s dry?
Yes.
Use sinnamon to stop mold
Have you tried germinating them directly in soil?
Yes and they all rotted!

Thanks. Sometimes (with other seeds) I soak them in hydrogen peroxide and still get mold smh
Just put cinnamon on the paper towel
Yes
