@@Summitperry it’s still hard to beat the MALCO’S in my opinion.. just wish they made more sizes. The all in ones are nice for storage and bag space, but I’d still take singles of more flippable sizes
That’s a very compleet comparison and I’m sure that someone looking to get something like this will find it very useful. I enjoyed watching it even though I really don’t need one in my work.
I bought the insert off Etsy. It just replaces some of the regular trays. I have a video with it and a Dewalt option - ua-cam.com/video/31I0chCXBRY/v-deo.htmlsi=c6NhN48UX35twCRP
I was just thinking about this tool the other day, you beat me to it! 😁 Thanks for reviewing it. I agree with you on the handle. Interesting to see the collar only helps with the 1/4 & 5/16 socket. I wanted to see you put it in the Klein 14-in-1 handle to see if the shaft length is adjustable.
You should start your own screwdriver brand. The only suitable name for it would be "I wasn't going yo buy it". Very informative and useful comparison.
Klein having the ability to hold bits wins the screwdriver contest. I use the short klein 3-in-1 1/4-5/16 and the dewalt 3/8-7/16 for the impact at work. I finally got the wiha centrofix bit holding screwdriver handle and its absolutely amazing! Holds regular 1", impact style bits, Japanese style bits and more with basically zero slop in the shaft. I highly recommend giving it a try.
I can vouch for that handle made in China but it will hold ANYTHING with no play. I used it for a long time with odd Japanese 13mm double ended bits. But like the pb swiss racheting screwdriver no storage on board makes it a nogo for people. I still use the wiha centrofix for tiny reduced shank hex and torx bits 1mm t5x ect...
Klein definitely the winner on this one. I really like that 20 in 1 you feature a while back . I believe you put one together from the many Klein variants . To create Frankin- driver. It was cool . 😂 Thank Morgan great comparison
Yeah I know it’s going to bother some.. they will probably come out with more sizes. They are at least selling individual ones. They have a 1/4 5/16 and a 5/16 3/8… maybe more will come that way.
Who knows.. there isn’t anything significantly different about this one that would make me buy it if I already owned the Klein… unless you make tool videos of course 😂
I purchased the Klein socket one and the Klein hvac driver. I was very disappointed in both drivers. The rubber handles rotated while turning the drivers. The magnet fell out of the end of the bit. The hvac driver had been issues holding the bits inside the handle and they would fall down into the handle . I expect better from Klein. All of this was with min the 1st uses. I’ll give the Milwaukee one a try just to see how it goes.
I had problems with my bit holder on the 14-1, but it was after using it for quite a while. I’ve heard several people mention the magnets. I know they did something different on their newest shafts in the way the magnet is held in, I’m not sure if it made it any better 🤷♂️ I haven’t had any issues with my magnets yet, but I run it mostly as a screwdriver.
Looks like a hard pass on the Milwaukee if one wants a flip socket for all its parts. If you're taking video requests, I'd love to see an "Ultimate Round-up" type video on the best tools of this type if you can only carry one. That would include DIY/mods such as taking parts of one (like the DeWalt) and combining it with parts of another (Klein handle, etc.) - your best/most recommended setup. Even my smaller Veto bag (Tech MCT) is damned heavy right now, so I'm looking for any way to consolidate and get the most bang-per-pound :)
I will play around with them. My TECH MCT is way heavier than I want right now too 😂 I’m was going to put my TPLC back in action but I’m waiting for that SBLD to see if I’d rather use it.
I probably wouldn’t use the handle anyway.. but I am curious if all the handles are that way. They don’t have them at my store, I had to ship it in. Appreciate it 👍
I found that it was difficult to get the medium sizes off the shaft of my Klein version, and in general it's just a pain in the butt over just having insert bits on a Railer bit holder. Is it easier to get all the different sizes off the Milwaukee than the Klein? Sorry if you answered this already
@@kappa8767 👍.. they have shorter shafts with single flip sizes as well. They don’t come in every size, but I assume you could by the 1/4 & 5/16 with the shorter shaft and swap it with a bigger one like the 1/2 & 9/16. They didn’t have any of those for me to get and try. You can do that with the Klein as well.
I have used the Klein with a bit holding screwdriver to take with me in Crawlspaces and Attics so I have all the options in one tool. Don’t want to carry a bunch of tools in and Don’t want to crawl all the way back out for a bit I primarily like the flip bits (MALCO’S) just for being able to clean the magnets off. That and a lot of things I run into you have to switch between the 1/4 and 5/16 is often without messing with swapping the shafts and holding onto the other one. But if you don’t need them… you don’t need them. If it ain’t broke doesn’t mean your stubborn 😂
Not sure what you do for work. But for HVAC the flip bits are a game changer. When changing out a blower motor the flip bit set has all the sizes I need to get that blower motor out.
I can say the Klein screw driver feature in an impact does not work well. I've used it in a pinch as an extension and the 1/4, 5/16bit twists and gets stuck.
I will have to look at the package, I didn’t check. My guess is not in the USA or they would have put it on the package and the tool. I think Kleins flip sockets are made elsewhere too. I can’t remember if it’s Taiwan or China.
This Milwaukee looks like a loo-zer compared to the Klein. I'm definitely headed for Lowe's this weekend for some Klein. Fwiw, Curtis (HVAC Guy) uses flip-bits in his M12 Fuel all the time, and I've never seen him have an issue.
I’m the same way for my impacts. And I prefer not having all the bulk when I know I am only using two sizes. I like having the set like these in my bag just for the size/space ratio… and then I do use them in a screwdriver handle when I go in Crawlspaces and Attics not knowing what I’m getting into. I try not to take a lot of tools or make extra trips in/out.
If I'm going into a attic or crawlspace I'm not gonna take something with small loose able parts either. Be purposeful with what you take and make it hard to loose in a bat of insulation.
Personally, I have never seen the value in this tool, only the novelty. It takes too much time to continuously change out the bits. I just carry the individual nut driver or socket. I'm about efficiency and speed. I can take out one nut driver and then place it back in my pouch and then pull out the next needed size faster than fumbling with this "transformer", and if you are on a ladder, you need to hold on with one hand.
I’m the same way of working out of a pouch. I use dedicated screwdrivers over ones where I change bits. I use these in my service bags to save space, or for going in places I don’t want to carry a lot of tools. Equipment in crawlspaces, attics, etc.

i like klein hand tools over milwaukee's any day. they run like $5 cheaper for milwaukee vs klein and the extra $5 for quality is worth it every time. I only run malco flip bits (while expensive), I have had them for years and beat the crap out of them working with sheet metal, etc. My only wish is the malco pookie busters would come down in price, and that they would make a multi sized flip bit like every one else. I'd buy one in a heartbeat....
@@MORGANSMaintenance they just seem to last way longer and feel more quality. i did almost blow one in half when i was putting screws in, in a super tight spot and didnt notice the bit spinning against a 240v romex wire. good thing my m12 impact survived and i guess "protected me" from getting shocked.
