    Seriously, with all the niche options in the packout lineup why is there still no rolling drawer option? It makes no sense to have the bottom box of a stack only accessible from the top so that you have to take everything else in the stack off of it for access. 😒 That bottom box is the perfect piece to feature front-access drawers. It seems to me like that should be the literal foundation of the standard 3-piece stack

    • @skygreen5939
      @skygreen5939 8 місяців тому +9

      @@hopkinstreeexperts759 yeah, they do make a separate 4-castor dolly for rolling things around the shop, but I'm guessing it can't handle much in terms of uneven terrain compared to the standard hand-truck style rolling box. I was just saying: wouldn't it be great if that rolling box had front-access drawers instead of a top-loading box lid - that way we wouldn't have to move several boxes off the top of it just to gain access 👍

    • @hopkinstreeexperts759
      @hopkinstreeexperts759 8 місяців тому +3

      @@skygreen5939 yeah the dolly they make works like a traditional one. You can put whatever boxes you want on it. They have both the 4 wheel cart and the dolly system.

      @@hopkinstreeexperts759 ah, you're talking about the hand truck they call a "2-Wheel Utility Cart", yeah? I ALMOST picked that up, but was dissuaded by some negative reviews. Also, that hand truck plus just one drawer box at list price would be ~$400 😳... i dunno, i feel like they are missing an opportunity not just making a drawer version of that rolling tool box - i expect it would outsell the hand truck, and maybe even the rolling box itself.

    I own 18 packout drawers, as well as other bits, the wheels suck as if you hit a minor crack, pebble on the floor or a small pile of wood shavings they just stop dead, going up high gradients in to customer properties the wheels just get stuck at the bottom and refuse to roll upwards. Pneumatic wheels world be better. . The dividers in the drawers need to be hot glued in pace to make them stay if you move your drawers frequently all my screws, waggos, dril bit accessories got mixed up in the first week due to this issue.
    The amount of nooks, gaps, and just the general overall lack of smooth monolithic surfaces make these a nightmare to clean after real dusty jobs.
    And I hate how the drawers are not dust or water resistant. If you are doing dusty work cover them up or move them far away.
    The bottom roller is a box not a drawer,so you'll never use it due to awful accessability. Although the latest version coming out is a drawer, the only downside being it has solid tiny wheels which will also get stuck only tiny washers, pebbles, dust, etc. Pneumatic tyres on these things please!!
    Overall...still one of the better ones on the market but still absolutely shit. They always start of really bad so they can drip feed this stuff to the market and pay people like this guy to say nothing but positive things about there products.

    I don´t doubt their stuff is quality made. I am sure they use good quality plastic as well but the problem is just like with any type of plastic this stuff will get brittle in ca. 10 years and it will fall apart in 30 years. I know that 30 years is a long time but there are still tools boxes and stuff from over 30 years ago which you can use today. Like the great collapsible Zarges alu boxes from the 70´s.
    Maybe in 10 years we will have 3D printers who can print those sizes and in the quality needed.

    you need the lock handles when driving. the draws are full of heavy tools and WILL fly open. if a competitor really wants to compete with Milwaukee they will make their large containers with front giant drawers that pull out because the stacking is the downside having to pull stacks apart to get to tools. Milwaukee has the little drawer units but not the meg drawer. And if you've ever hoisted these things around they are extremely heavy once filled with tools.

    When I purchased the packout system it was the only modular storage system that would stand up to the riggers of the environment that I was working in at the time (Ground up commercial construction). It had the largest wheels. This was a huge factor rolling through dirt and up and down steps. Overall, it was the toughest strongest system at the time. so yes, I paid 3x the price of the other systems and felt like it was worth every penny. However, that being said, as an electrician, if i was to purchase a system today I would go with the Klein system because it is geared specifically to to the electrical trade. It is tailored to electricians and communications installers. I won''t say that it is better, but it is specifically geared to our trade....If I didn't have so much money invested in the packout system ($700+) I would go with the new Klein system today!

    So this is a wide range subject as everyone has their own favorite platform. I chose Milwaukee as I wanted to invest into better tools. Pack out is definitely designed for mobility. Don’t get me wrong I see the value of it in a shop for organization. It’s definitely been out longer and lots of fans have found ways to make it better. I have a few pack out boxes which I use for things that a rarely use. I feel it’s definitely for the professional that is constantly mobile. I think I’d like to get a few with drawers on them. Now you can’t find the wall shelf system that was once offered.
    I do feel it’s a bit overpriced. If you have a shop I think investing in a decent toolbox and foam would better serve you as you grow in tools. Mobile professionals should invest in this to organize there truck, van to customize there needs for the job they are doing as opposed to carrying everything in and only needing certain things. However “MOST” not all professionals are a bit of slobs and don’t care about there equipment. Which usually means they don’t care about there work ethics.

    Definitely love the Packout! Was previously considering Dewalt since they had the drawers that would fit my needs more or Flex because of the customizability. But this year alone between the new stuff they came out with, with the smaller storage boxes that you can stack and the fan support with customization and inserts, I cannot resist. The smaller stackable storage units make it so much easier to store my power tools and their parts/accs/blades and be able to switch between trucks.

That being said I’m a mobile tech and I love the packout. The foam is nice and all I’ve thought about it but didn’t make sense to me when my tools take a beating in the field more than they do in my van. Dowel max jig and all the accessories fits great in a pack out. Hoping for a pack out that holds the TSO track saw guide in foam or 3d printed.

    Thank you for including in the channel description that this is your channel in addition to 731 Woodworks. This video came up in my recommended, and I was hot for a minute thinking someone was ripping off your content. 😂 Anyway, thanks for the Packout overview. I think I might have to copy your rolling cart design as a birthday gift for my fiance. He much prefers drawers to the top open boxes.

      I’m in Ridgid box line and seems like they are always behind in regards to coming out with more features and options. Just barely came out with a drawer system. Crazy that they were one of the first companies to jump into these stackable mobile box systems is so behind everyone else

    Milwaukee has ALWAYS sought out the innovative option. They want to be the company that says “yes, we have something for that”
    Maybe their impact isn’t “as good as” the flex, but for the soul reason of their ingenuity and drive to make things that work in unison I will always go with them.
    Seriously, it’s like they look at a process done by hand and think “yeah we can make a tool for that” then drop it. Even if they’re 2nd or even 3rd in the line up I’ll still role with them for that reason alone.

      you need, but they dont. what for they will do it? for you go and buy cheaper roller and stack packout boxes on it? they need you to buy all the stuff from one brand, that the patent is for.
      if i were them i would definitely did some things to prevent mixing and matching. nothing personal, just business))

    UK Based. Used Packout for a long time and do love it but several gripes. 1) You shouldn’t have to buy 3rd party 3D printed inserts for their own tools. Even blown moulded inserts like Makita used to do would be a workable compromise. 2) all the wall-mounted stuff is overpriced and unnecessary - lots more focus is needed on getting the packout options nailed. for example… 3) too much-wasted space in packout. When you look at the volume of storage space. Feels like they could be way more efficient. I do love ‘em, though, and certainly spent my hard-earned money getting a van load! Great videos - keep em coming.
