    Thanks so much Vic! I’m getting very close to finishing my RV-14A and your recent videos are so serendipitous. I’m looking forward to putting your words of wisdom into practice. BTW, you are responsible for my decision to build, you answered my multiple questions at SNF 2108 when you with Van’s and started me on the journey!

    Thank you for posting these videos! These are coming out at the perfect time for me. I've already had a successful first flight and I've been following the EAA test cards while addressing and retesting for minor issues with the plane. Looking forward to more videos.

    Great advice. I was left seat not flying for my first flight, my engine builder flew from the right seat. Very good thing - at top of descent we lost a cylinder and got a heavy fuel scent. He managed the landing without issue, I know I wouldn't have handled it as well. Turns out it was his mistake, the cylinder's injector line came off at the distributor as it hadn't been tightened. I really understand the urge to do your own first flight, but I think in most cases - regardless of your experience - someone less emotionally attached to the plane should fly that first flight.

    These videos are very helpful as I am near completion on a 10. Question not related to your videos. I see in the background you installed the gas strut upside down from what vans shows in the instructions. Is there a specific reason?

      Technically you are correct. But having been through 3 sets of struts already I decided to try installing them this way as it leaves the strut facing upwards when t is closed. I don't know if it made a difference or not. I also used higher power ones from Bansbach part number A1A1F50-100-287/600N

      I went the the 600n ones as well and think I will try reversing them. Only issue I am finding is the doors tend to open quickly and bounce at the top of the stroke of you don't hold on to them.... I insulated the door cavity's so I thought I would need the extra lift.
