  • In this video, I am transforming this vintage buffet into a stunning piece of furniture with a classic touch! I will guide you step-by-step through my makeover process, using neutral colors to bring out its timeless charm. Watch as I strip, sand, bleach, paint wash, glaze, and top coat the top of the piece to achieve the desired tone to compliment the beautiful paint color I picked out for the body of the piece. Thanks for joining me to experience the transformation and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more DIY transformations!

What a beautiful buffet. Lots of good techniques in this video! When you prime the first coat, then use the DAP premium wood filler and sand the dings, do you need to prime over the wood filled spots again? I've had trouble with those filled spots showing through the paint. Do you like that filler better than plastic wood or Bondo wood putty?

Thank you, Heidi! I do not prime a second time over those small spots. I never have issues with my wood filler (or Bondo glazing and spot putty either) showing through my paint. I’m guessing if it were a bigger area, I might. I just make sure I sand them perfectly smooth. I run my hand over them slowly to check there’s no variation on the surface and it is smooth. I like Dap pro wood filler and Bondo spot putty for small or more shallow blemishes. For deeper or larger areas, I like Bondo All Purpose or Kwik Wood Epoxy Putty.
Glad the video was helpful! 😊

This looks amazing. Question about your Festool sanders. I have the rectangle sander like yours, RTS400?? I think. It seems to be more of a finish sander. Do you find that the Festool disk sander is more powerful? I primarily use my Dewalt orbital but considering ordering the Festool.

I love my Festool Orbital! I have the ETS 125 REQ Orbital. It is great for sanding down the tops on my pieces, especially! It has just enough power, but still not overwhelming! Perfect!!
I tried the Festool (I think it’s the 150) first and it’s way too much and didn’t work well for me at all! It had a special button (for extra power- Rotex button, maybe?) and that was terrible for me.
I retuned it and bought the ETS 125 REQ Orbital and I love it! It is a great sander. Took me a few times to figure out not to push down at all and to use proper sanding technique, but ever since that first week it has been my go to for sanding down larger flat surfaces! Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! 😊

Absolutely gorgeous! I have never used that one our enamel paint before, did you only have to use one coat?
