If you are a wife and mother, you have a duty to dust, mop and keep the house sparkling clean, pamper and cater to your husband's every need, clean the children's running noses, do the market shopping, go to bed last because hey, YOU'RE A MOTHER.
Do you agree or not and why??

There is something I find fascinating about Pumla. In spite of her passionate and strong opinions, she is an authentic modern but yet a "traditional" woman. She is the typical example that we don’t have to fall into a single category. On certain topics she leans more towards modern, and on others she leans more traditional. This is why I find her intriguing.

I was partially like manuellla just tha me I over worked my self and got tired in two weeks and actually wanted a divorce. uuumm left home for work at 8,come back do dishes, mop, prepare supper, make the bed and by the time we have dinner am dosing and don't even want anyone to touch me...but thankfully my husband sat me down and taught me that I can't do all duties everyday,he taught me postponing some chores for the other day and we are good.

I always look forward to Bump love every Friday. An interesting topic today... Motherhood and wife responsibilities can be very overwhelming. When i had just come to the US, newly wed with a baby and my beloved traditional muganda man, i was shocked by what i had to do without help (house helps). Even with all the machinery available to reduce the load, i was mentally convinced that this was alot. Instead of spending my time taking care of my responsibilities one by one, i used to call my sisters to express how hard it was for me, spend my time feeling sad and not doing anything. By the end of the day, little had been done and stuff was piling. Now i know better. I clean as i go, i don't postpone doing stuff. I love a clean, neat and organised house so i make sure before i go to bed, everything is in order so that i start the day on a clean slate. I train my children young to clean after themselves after eating, cleaning and organizing the bathroom after every shower, folding clothes and placing them in their rightful places, making their beds etc. Sometimes i have to do them all over again but they perfect the skill with time. I've learnt to plan for my time and chores, and also embrace my responsibilities. By the way, i also do my own gardening, maintaining my backyard with lots of flowers and a section for vegetables. We have hime cooked meals everyday, i study and work. I think its about changing your mindset and planning your time.

Forever loving these conversations. Like Racheal's dad, mine always comes home with bread and milk (but he is healthier now so no milk but still bread and fruits). In fact, if I visited cousins and their parents did not come back in the evening after work with akavera of milk and bread, in my world as a child you did not work. Even if you shop in bulk but can not come home with that kavera, you are not successful in my world. 🤣🤣 I am not married yet but I feel like that kavera has to be discussed, the contents might change but it needs to be there. As a single woman right now, I do get to do all the shopping, cooking, etc. I come home with everything. I make lists. I like how I do my things, and I like supportive partners (basically enabling me to play my role). Financial, spiritual, emotional, and physical; we do not have to lay the bed together but you can get out of it early so that it is laid. Have the decency to put the dirty clothes in the laundry basket. You could drive me to the market/supermarket, pick me up later or give me the car to ease my movement. I can do the shopping. I am a minimalist and I love clean spaces, I love functionality.
I missed you Pumla. I am here for conversations to have clarity not to assume things about what our roles are in relationships, I am here for who is more competent. I am here for learning, I am here for finding other things that can ease our lives.🤗
Angie, I like this thought trail; we need to renew our mindsets (when I try to tell people, the excuse is that we live abroad so it is easier and practical for us).
Manuela thank you for sharing that on when to switch on and off. Part of taking a feminity course that is scripture-led. HOT.
In summary; Do what you do not want to do in order to get what you need!

Thank you ladies. Always a lot to learn from you all. Now, mums in the diaspora, please help a struggling mum! Raising and caring for our 2 children and the endless chores are killing us even with the machines to ease some of the manual work. My husband is very supportive does about everything including DIY projects around the home except breastfeed! We hardly have time to ourselves and are in a constant state of exhaustion!!! I’m borderline OCD so am very organised and plan out things naye still! Happy to borrow a leaf or 2 from people in a similar situation and how they are coping. Thanks

It is just so exhausting even with the machines and help from your other half. More worse when the kids are under 6. I think the Ocd does not help. I only do what I can and keep the rest for another day or week. Eg I don't have to clear the sink if tired, or tidy the house. Gave up ironing when had my second as I felt like I was going to run mad. Hang in there, it gets easier as they grow. And teach them to tidy after messing up from a young age.

The same way we find it almost impossible to handle both the kids and housework alone, is the same way our maids also suffer to do it all.
We should be considerate and either help them a bit, or hire two maids.
