Carrie Fisher was so great in this. I know her role as "Princess Leia" will always be the most iconic, but I thought she truly shone in When Harry Met Sally. She was so funny. She should have been nominated for an Oscar for this role.
"You will have to spend the rest of your life knowing someone else is married to your husband." I'm 72 now and that is me. All these years, with some mourning sighs throughout and I had never thought about it this way. There it is.
Unless the person asked you and you turned them down, chances are you would have never met. Look, I'm 50 and never been married--not from lack of trying or not wanting--but I find that the simple philosophy "God made marriage for people; he didn't necessarily make people for marriage" comforted me when I hit 40, and then 50. It's like joining the military; it's great for some, okay for others, and not appealing to many, many others. I am sure that you couldn't have been any better a person or friend if you had been married. Blessings to you.
There's just something about her absolutely deadpan delivery on the "six months later, he was dead" line. Like I can't help but laugh every time 😂 Carrie Fisher was an absolute treasure
This is such a fantastic scene. First of all, a fabulous table setter for Carrie Fisher's Marie ("...you mean Joe's available?"), basically setting the template for just about all romcom sidekicks to follow. Meg also has some terrific nonverbal work in this - 1) the shrug/head turn @ 1:25, and the look of deadpan alarm @ 2:15 in response to Lisa Jane Persky's "at least you could say you were married".
Let us not forget her dog-earing the card in her Rolodex for the guy who's now married, having just announced that she realizes the guy she's been having an affair with for two years is never leaving his wife, which she has previously said.
I don't think that the moment where it Carrie folds down the edge of the card has been praised enough. It is sheer genius. She folds down the card because you know that if he ever gets divorced, she will then be able to unfold it. I want to know if that was the work of Nora Efron, Rob Reiner, or Carrie Fisher herself.
Why is this movie so good? I try not to watch too often. Its not easy. I think ill watch it tonight. Bruno Kirby, Carrie Fisher Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are so good together in this gorgeous story ❤. Great scene this. But the best scene is "The Wagon Wheel Coffee Table".
Oh lord this so true 1:16, I used to hear my mother talking with her friends at that age and then sharing numbers of single men, now I am at their age and I would never ever want this type of stuff in my life, I am glad women changed.
Carrie Fisher was so cute with short hair, may she (and her mother and also Riki Mayall from "Drop Dead Fred" who Carrie Fisher was also in) rest in peace.
She wanted to get married by saying she deserves more than this. That's why she broke up with Joe because he didn't want to marry her after five years so she went looking for someone who would give her a marriage and a family.
The Boathouse Cafe in Manhattan's Central Park... where THIS hilarious Sex & the City scene was filmed: ua-cam.com/video/RLDGA6iS-xU/v-deo.html I'd been there many times when I lived a few blocks away for 15 years (but have been living downtown in Chelsea for over 30) It's a fabulous place for a variety of events... I've been there for baby & bridal showers, a 50th birthday party, Bar Mitzvah, wedding reception etc. Even just a light lunch outside near the lake, just like Sally, Marue and Alice, 😊 ua-cam.com/video/RLDGA6iS-xU/v-deo.html

Never thought about it before, but you're absolutely right. She would have been a great best supporting actress nominee.
She did great. Everyone did. It was well written. Well directed. Well acted. Well composed. It’s just a good ass movie.
I love the way she just dog ears the card..
@@jcisme, yes, that was subtle but so funny!
Maybe its the style of her character but she is only 33 years old in this movie.....when watching this even now you'd think she was about 40.
1:45 really...married....omg when she folds the corner. RIP Carrie Fisher
Iconic scene
In a movie full of great lines my favorite is "You're right, you're right, I know you're right"
Right? Love it!
"You mean Joe's available?" is also an amazing line snuck in there 😂
"Oh wait, wait... I got one." Carrie saying that line gets me every time, lol 🤣
Married.... and she fold the card. My friend and I laugh so hard. Best movie ever.
If this movie was made just a few years later, there would have been no card to fold. The names would all be in her IPHONE.
I always want to believe that Carrie Fisher ad libbed the line “You mean Joe’s available?” So perfect
perfect

My favorite Carrie Fisher role (outside of Star Wars)
Amen
The double-date scene of this movie is some of her best work
Star Wars is a boring character regardless of how they made it iconic by her costume.
Wonderful comedic scene. Carrie was amazing in this movie.

Best scene. R.I.P. Carrie Fisher
Rachel Tyler I wrote a term paper about this film in film history class last year, and I agree it's the best film with her starring in it.
Also a great line “I want you to know that I will never ever want that wagon wheel coffee table.
Love Carrie in this movie.".. I don't find him attractive but Sally might *whispers* she doesn't have a problem with chins." May she rest in peace..
"Joe's available?"
"She doesn't have a problem with chins."
Paulo Neto Carrie Fisher was so great!! RIP
"you had a date on national holidays!" 😂
May favorite Carrie Fisher role (and it's hard to tell people this, considering her OTHER famous role)! She was so funny! Loved her!

You’re right you’re right I know you’re right. My favorite line from Carrie Fisher. ❤️❤️
This scene had to be the OG inspiration of Sex and the City.
Carrie Fisher was amazing in this movie. She was so beautiful in this movie too. People take for granted Carrie's beauty.
Totally, especially in her wedding dress.

This and Green card are my favorite movies of this genre.
he is never going to leave her omg i still love that line
Omg Carrie with those freakin recipe cards gets me in stitches every time. How your friends used to hook you up with people before Facebook..
i thought it was a rolodex. but i love how she makes a special fold for the married ones...lol

Entire dialogue is great!
I wish Carrie Fisher had more roles like that one, she was so great in that movie.
RIP Carrie we will miss you...
Awww...shoot I forgot she died.
I'm sad all over again now
It is not posible to choose a favourit scen of the film. Allmost all of them are simpley the best.
I always laugh when their friends ditch them after the dinner 😂
I loved Carrie Fisher and Meg Ryan together in this movie!! Hilarious!!❤❤These ladies were at the top of their game back then!!
R.I.P. Carrie Fisher😢
“You mean Joe’s available?” OUCH
My favorite Carrie Fisher role! She was so awesome! ☺️
Carrie was so perfect as the NJ best friend, with a slight accent and everything.
I love Carrie Fisher in this film. She's so quirky and real.
How else do you think you do it? Loved Carrie in this movie. And that is something you don't see anymore - a rolodex!!
Yeah, no, thank goodness for smartphones ;-). I forgot how dated this movie is.
@@missbirdie05 I was going to say, fucking phone is a rolodex now,
2:18 Immortal words by Carrie
Truly. A line that stays with you forever.

This scene is just so relatable....😞

When you watch this and you’re turning 36 in a month... 😬 ⏰
Ikr… I’m turning 36 this year.
I loved this scene
Marie/Carrie Fisher made this movie. She was also great in "The 'Burbs," from the same time period. Has this perfect comedic timing and delivery.

It’s great having dates on national holidays 😅
I love Carrie Fischer
I want you to know, that I will never want that wagon wheel coffee table.
"You deserve more than this". Said every single women who lives alone with her cats now.

Wonderful scene but is it me or they edited this wrong? There's an error on eyesight line
miss carrie.......she was adorable and so unique.
and 6 months later he was dead"....lmfaooooooo miss u carrie
Who brings their Rolodex to lunch?
Marie does, apparently.

Def clock not tick till 36 yip
Carrie Fisher was about 32 or 33 and she loked way older. Already a sign of what drugs and alcohol were doing to her
stfu
Zt1053 she looks great here.
zt1053 I think she looked fine there
Indeed. You could say that she looked like in her late forties.
I think it's the haircut that ages her.
