7:27 : the concept hasn't changed at all, the execution has. The DSOTM concept is what makes it DSOTM in the first place, and the Redux is proof that it wasn't just the concept that made it great, and that is the thing Waters and fans do not understand.
I listened to the Redux. It's alright. It's no replacement, or upgrade, for the original (as it was clearly stated not to be) but it's something I'll listen for my own enjoyment. Lots of you guys don't seem to understand that waters is a lot about what the words say those days. He does have a great reading voice and great lyrics. Sound is very well produced. It's elegant. It certainly is chatty and not about the musical journey of the original. But was I moved? Yes, I was.
It's significantly darker though. Waters isn't a optimist.

It's waters voice which is a reading voice more than anything. It's great a what it does, it does come up to replace much more "singing voices" which unsurprisingly is musically a downgrade, but the focus here is on words and moods rather than aesthetics. It's allowed. It's now what you wanted and not what you expected. Well, for anyone who had seen what he's been doing in the last 20 years or listened to his presentation of the album, that very much was expected.
It's "defense" but that's okay.

Your over analysing Roger Waters is not mad but he does swear better than Billy Connelly I like some of the tracks on the new release
David Gilmour NO LONGER is a member of Pink Floyd either. He said it last year. ONLY Nick Mason is PINK FLOYD. Alone. No one else is PINK FLOYD anymore.
This is a very difficult video to watch. The thick accent talking at top speed with loud music behind it made it completely unintelligible to my ears. I could barely understand a word.

@@karelvandervelden8819 He's right, there is no defense for it. No defense is even necessary. Roger can do what he wants, just as the ten thousand youtube amateurs with their re imaginings have done it.
There is but I doubt you will be able to get past your prejudice to hear it.
Its his new version of his own material, he can do whatever he wants, plus you still can listen to the original
Nor is there any needed. It's not thought or made as a replacement of the original. As opposed to many people like you Waters and the other adult in the room knew perfectly well that this album would be a drop in the water of the sales and listener of the original. It's an eighty year old poet who makes an update on his text from half a century ago and re interprate the soundtrack for it. There's value in there that can be enjoyed.

I hear that Waters is recalling all the original copies of this record to be heaped onto a giant bonfire. Anyone found with an original will be liable for prosecution. The hope is that in generations to come no one will even remember that there was an original. Obviously this is the work of an old man taking the opportunity - while he still can - to reflect on something central to his young self's being, an iconic album that has had 50 years of life. Can anyone even imagine a form it could take that they would be alright with that wasn't a pointlessly straight copy of the original? Nothing but prejudice of which you should all ashamed and embarrassed.
He's fine. He is entitled to do as he pleases. I will be accepting his Redux and ill hold it up against the original- to enjoy the contrast.

It probably has more to do with the fact that Waters without Pink Floyd is dull and uninteresting and musically weak. Had Redux been issued when the original came out, Pink Floyd would be remembered as the band that faded away after Syd Barrett left. Redux is what DSOTM would have been without great singing or great musicianship.

@@rafffaaa6975 Yes, and I'm not at all a fan. I also wasn't a fan of The Final Cut, either. I listened to Redux, and that was incredibly weak compared to Pink Floyd. He may be a good poet, but when it comes to music, he's third rate.
@@dancahill9585 the final cut and pros and cons are way better that all pink floyd did without him, but thats my opinion
