  • Episode 32: Beachcombing (Part One)
Whether you're a seasoned beachcomber or an occasional weekend seaside stroller, chances are you've found something bizarre on the beach and wondered where it came from or how it got there.
Every treasure, whether it's a shell or driftwood, tells us a story. Some offer glimpses into the lives of sea creatures and plants, while others reveal more about our human habits and impacts on the environment. In this episode, part of our beachcombing series, we dive into the "murder mysteries" of the sea. Many of the shells and objects we find are clues to past predatory encounters, telling tales of what creatures lived, hunted, and perished along our coasts.
Join us as we help unravel these marine mysteries. If you ever stumble upon something enigmatic on the beach, a puzzle that stirs your curiosity, don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to connect the dots, reveal hidden stories, and bring the secrets of our shores to light.

Hi Steve, Prof. Charles Griffiths is the host (you'll see info in our About). He's a Professor of Marine Biology from UCT, has found over 100 new species, and is the author of a bunch of guide books including "Two oceans : a guide to the marine life of Southern Africa" which is the definitive guide on marine life in South Africa. I can organise you a CV if you'd like but Google can tell you WAY more. We used to have an intro to him at the beginning of each episode - perhaps we should add one at the end for new viewers like yourself! Thanks for joining us!

@@ExploreTheShore Yeah, I'd recommend something in the video itself. He's an engaging speaker and it would be great to know his background. But as you say, if you've already included it a bunch of times, your regular viewers would be bored with it. Catch 22.
