I started out on ear buds it was all I had in the beginning and then I got me some headphones and omg ! What a difference it made in my enjoyment. Just and idea. You’ll be shocked at the difference.
@@KoalityReactions Tim's bass in this is an F1 or an F1#, with my Skull candy crushers it rattles my teeth and chest. Glad you enjoyed it. Home Free does a beautiful rendition of "Auld Lang Syne." The harmonies will blow you away and ring in your New Year just right.
When I saw them in concert in October, they mentioned that it was about 10 degrees in that ice palace when they filmed this. Everyone was absolutely freezing.
My favorite version. Adam is a genius! Tim, the bass, started this one off in a higher register then he gave us those very low notes. Rob ( glasses and beard) with his smooth tenor. Austin with his highs and sort of synth guitar sounds, This is older so Adam's brother Chris, in the hat ( founder of the group) is there singing and backing up the bass. Thanks for the Home Free reactions
Adam Rupp, their beat boxer, did the arrangement of this song. This was filmed in Minnesota. Adam and his older brother Chris are from Minnesota, as is Robb Lundquist. Adam and Chris with Adam's best friend Matt Atwood started the group in 2001 in Minnesota. Adam and Matt were teenagers at the time.. Notice that the lead singer at the beginning of the song, singing tenor, is Tim Foust, the group's bass. Tim has a five-octave range so he can sing tenor, baritone, and bass. He is from south Texas and refuses to live in Minnesota due to the brutal winters. He presently lives in Nashville. This is an older video with Chris Rupp. Chris resigned from the group about six years ago and was replaced with Adam Chance. He is called Chance to prevent confusion. with Adam Rupp. He was in the video Man of Constant Sorrow. He was making the mouth harp sound during that video. Chance is from Alabama. Robb Lundquist is the lead tenor and has had operatic training. His professors at the University of Minnesota urged him to pursue a career in opera. He chose another career path. Austin Brown, the high tenor, is from south Georgia. He replaced Matt Attwood who retired from a career as a performer and joined his family's business. Austin also lives in Nashville. Some Christmas songs that you might enjoy by Home Free, both traditional and original: Full of Cheer, O Holy Night, Mary Did You Know, Cold Hard Cash, Snow Globe, The Warmest Winter, Christmas in LA, Angels We Have Heard on High. I would encourage you to see their video with the late Kenny Rogers in "Children Go Where I Send Thee." It's a great Christmas Spiritual and underlines many aspects of their talents.
My absolute favorite version of this song. I listen to it every year and it never gets old. But, to get the very best of it you need to listen with earbuds or head phones. Home Free has some other great Christmas tunes so check out their channel. Good Job young lady!!!
You not only listened to my favorite Home Free Christmas song, you listened to my favorite Home Free song period! SO amazingly good!!! Adam's arrangement (and his "drumming," of course) is absolutely top tier, and Tim's low notes threatened to melt that ice castle. A super fun Home Free Christmas song that doesn't get enough attention is "What Christmas Means to Me." It's visually hilarious, and Rob "The Beard" Lundquist absolutely sleighs the lead vocals. (See what I did there?) 😁 I definitely encourage you to react to that one. Keep up your Home Free journey! The rabbit hole is soooo deep.... 😊
To my eternal frustration I must work tonight. Home Free is in Green Bay on their Home Free for Christmas tour tonight and I wish I could go. Seeing them live is a thrill and I have yet to see them at this time of year.
First... love the song. Sounds amazing. I just can't help but laugh each time that they zoom in on the face of the guy while he is beat boxing 😂. It kepts distracting me.
Home Free are the nicest and humble guys in person....their concerts are just fun and family friendly with all generations are welcome. I've seen them 3 times, the last being this past April in Ft Meyers, FL. They hwve a live version the Sea Shanty Medley up on UA-cam where you can see them singing live at on of their concerts.

This one featured a different member than the last video. The guy in the cap is Chris Rupp, who founded the group with his brother Adam (beatboxer). Chris left the group in 2016 and was replaced by Adam Chance. The other guys are Tim Foust (bass, long dark hair), Austin Brown (high tenor, lighter hair), and Rob Lundquist (tenor, shorter hair and glasses). They have some good Christmas music, one of their newest videos is “Christmas in LA.” “Snow Globe” is another great song on one of their Christmas albums, though not strictly a Christmas song.
These guy's are the best out there. Other harmonies or absolutely phenomenal. Like Pentatonix and I like voice play but home free is just spot on non-stop. Keep checking them up and you will become a home fry.
Great reaction, Jenna! Watching a new Home Fry come into the world is a wondrous thing! They have announced dates for a 2024 tour and I highly recommend their live performances.
One notable thing about nearly all Home Free covers is that you can hear and follow the lyrics much better than in most originals or other covers. Partly it is that they enunciate well, without sounding like they are overdoing it. For a great example of how precise their enunciation is, listen to Helplessly Hoping, in which if they did not sing the words precisely, it would come off as somewhat messy, but instead it is clockwork. For this month, there is no shortage of Christmas and seasonal songs from Home Free, but you will also find many amazing seasonal songs from the other big acapella groups out there, Voiceplay, Pentatonix, and Voctave (there are other groups of course, but those are the ones I have heard). And along those lines, a fun reaction would be to compare the three versions of Mary Did You Know, by Home Free, Pentatonix, and Voctave (featuring Mark Lowry, the originator and lyricist of the song). My estimation is that HF and Pentatonix do gorgeous versions, and Voctave's is transcendent. But you can decide for yourself.
VoicePlay and Home Free were on The Sing-Off together and remain friends. They even did a video together. Tim Foust gave tips to Geoff Castellucci on how to sing lower and told him not to lose his high range. Tim Foust, Rob Lundquist, and Chris Rupp have each singly been in different VoicePlay videos.
Welcome to becoming a Home Fry. This is a great song that they did, You should listen to them do Mary did you know, and O' Holy Night. New to your channel, but enjoy it. Love the puppers as well, I have a Husky named Doc Savage. This was a welcomed break from Tornado recovery. So thank you for that!
They have some very simple and common names so I think you will catch on fairly quickly with knowing who each of them are. They are well known for their harmonies and the beatboxer Adam is called a "human drumkit" because what he can do sounds so much like one. Tim is the super bass guy, however he can sing very high as well. The guy with the beard and glasses is Rob he is their lower tenor, he has some soul in him and can do some amazing riffs, Austin the thin guy with the longer hair is their high tenor, and boy he can go high and his voice is so clear too. The hat guy is Chris and he is Adam's brother and they started the group when they were in college. Chris is a baritone but can go higher too. You will see him in their videos before 2016 after that he left Home Free to do his solo career. Adam Chance, or "Chance" as they call him, stepped into the baritone spot in 2016 so in more recent videos you will see him. He is also a bass and can sing low, but not as low as Tim. He has a really smooth voice, (some would call it sexy).
Such an exceptional arrangement by Home Free's own wizard and incomparable vocal percussionist, Adam Rupp ⛄🪄🎄 And such a nice treat to hear Chris Rupp's smooth baritone getting some focus❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️ #HomeFree #HomeFreeDoesChristmasBest
My absolute favorite Home Free song. Adam's arrangement is the best arrangement of any Christmas song ever. Took me from "Don't care if I never hear this song again" to "I need to hear that again ... and again ... and again." in 4:33.
“Brothers in Arms “ & “ Listen to the Music “ & their original “ Playing With Fire” is a must listen and for a real treat “Misty Mountains” with Peter Hollens feat. Tim Foust from HomeFree amazing vocal work and have fun traveling around the homefree rabbit hole with us homefries
I think of the Acapella bands, to me the top 3 are Voiceplay, Home free and Pentatonix. I couldn’t really choose between them, they’re all great at doing what they do best. This was a great festive rendition, I just loved it! It’s the sort of performance that makes you smile at this time of the year! Great reaction and breakdown as always, very enjoyable!🌹
@@itzel1735 sort of, but as Home free don’t have a female voice it’s very difficult for them or VoicePlay to really sound like them. My favourite is VoicePlay, I like their more theatrical approach, it adds some ‘je ne sais quoi’ !
Ha Ha Ha Ha Your comment about how they are "sooo sweeet" had me cracking up. If you're truly honest with yourself you can admit that EVERYONE has a naughty side. Most of us just keep it hidden. However, these men are just funny as can be with their naughtiness without being raunchy. You should see their "All About That Bass" and their Butts Medly/Remix.
The boys all say that Adam’s (beatboxer) arrangements are difficult. They can all sing and all take the lead depending on the song. This is beautiful and I’m surprised the ice didn’t crack with Tim’s low notes. Have a wonderful Christmas! 😍😄
Since you mentioned "Sounds of Silence" by Disturbed try listening to The Hound and the Fox version with Adam Chance from Home free and when they turn around at the end of the video, they do the most beautiful version of Wayfaring Stranger in which Chances' opening resonance is just gorgeous.
🌲🌲🌲🎼🤍🎼🌲🌲🌲 .. excellent choice Jenna. The visuals are stunning.. and the moment when all 5 voices join in is so special. Don't worry.. after a few more songs you will all their names well. This is a song that definitely gets me in the Christmas spirit. Thank you 🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚
And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so doomed. We’ll save you a chair. You’re about to be buried in Home Fries. Brace yourself. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks while they were scattered across the country. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He’s a world-class vocal percussionist and there’re good reasons he’s called a “Freak of Nature” and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam’s incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete’s sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain’t Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (sleigh bells? seriously?) or his drum solos. For more of Tim’s seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). This man’s range is incredible. You won’t want to miss his 5-octave run in 5 seconds in “Do You Hear What I Hear?” For Chance’s smooth baritone/bass, check out Skull & Bones, Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome.. basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. For Rob’s soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) One Home Fry has described him as the vocal equivalent of a Swiss Army knife because of his versatility. For Austin’s soaring tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he’ll sing you right out of it.) For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Life Is A Highway, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (Tim wrote the worst country song he could think of, and it remains one of their most requested.) A word about “Brother” - if you want to hear the lyrics, you’re going to have to listen with your eyes closed, ‘cause otherwise you’ll never get past the humor of the video to actually hear what they’re singing. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam’s arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let’s Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden, or Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you’ll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim’s mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You’ll need smelling salts after that one. Don’t miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they’ll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother). And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll cover a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’d been hit by the curse four times before I gave up and quit counting. I’m not the only victim of the Home Free Curse, either. Although their covers are amazing, don’t miss their original compositions. They range from the the poignant (So Long Dixie) to the patriotic (Land Of the Free). These include Dive Bar Saints (one of my favorites), Road Sweet Road, Catch Me If You Can, Give Me A Sign, Lonely Girl’s World, The Stargazer Trilogy, Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget, Love Me Like That, Skull And Bones, and many, many more. Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don’t just own a cover, they upgrade it.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.
Very nice reaction, Koality. I subbed for more Home Free reactions. You're a natural at this, so I hope that you'll be doing more HF in the future. If you get a chance, listen to HF"s Auld Lang Syne- it's beautiful!
One thing that shows how much of professionals they are is that when they were filming the video they sang/lip-synced to a playback track, but the ice castle also had entirely different music playing over loud speakers at the same time that they couldn’t get them to turn off.
This is an older video. The guy with the hat (Chris Rupp) has left to be replaced by Adam Chance. Seems like a great move for all concerned. Awesome arrangement by Adam Rupp (the beatboxer).
Don't worry, there is a different term. Vocal percussion. Yes Adam can beatbox but, in my opinion, he is THE master of vocal percussion. I think, technically, the "nomonica" and other non percussive sounds would be beatboxing. It's the percussive sounds that Adam kills. Sounds like he swallowed a full drum kit when he was young
You tried learning beatboxing? So cool! I want to learn that! If anyone has a great YT tutorial suggestion on how to learn how to beatbox tell me what to type into the search bar!
Kim Faust teamed up with the bass singer from Pentatonix listen and review the song from the movie Hobbit it's called Misty mountain cold it's awesome if you like bass.

Such an exceptional arrangement by Home Free's own wizard and incomparable vocal percussionist, Adam Rupp ⛄🪄🎄
And such a nice treat to hear Chris Rupp's smooth baritone getting some focus❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️
#HomeFree #HomeFreeDoesChristmasBest
Subbed for more Home Free! Love your reactions!
Yes please listen to their version of "Oh Holy Night" it is gorgeous. Loved your reaction.
My absolute favorite Home Free song. Adam's arrangement is the best arrangement of any Christmas song ever. Took me from "Don't care if I never hear this song again" to "I need to hear that again ... and again ... and again." in 4:33.
Nice reaction 😊 #HomeFree
So much fun!! They never sound bad! (I have a Pentatonix coming out tomorrow, so… 🤍🤓
@@itzel1735 not really, they did the Whitney Houston version didn’t they? As far as I know they haven’t done a different version.
@@itzel1735 sort of, but as Home free don’t have a female voice it’s very difficult for them or VoicePlay to really sound like them. My favourite is VoicePlay, I like their more theatrical approach, it adds some ‘je ne sais quoi’ !
I got to hear them sing this live recently. It was spectacular! This song was hands down the best of their Christmas music Great reaction.
A great one from Home Free.Up next from Home Free.....Nessun Dorma.Rob and Austin sing OPERA.
Dan Vasc also has a really good cover of Sound of Silence…(the Disturbed version, not the Simon & Garfunkel one.)
Thank you 🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚🌲💚
I just found you and I subbed in hopes of more a capella reactions! 💖
You won’t want to miss his 5-octave run in 5 seconds in “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
For Chance’s smooth baritone/bass, check out Skull & Bones, Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome.. basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow.
(But bolt down your chair ‘cause he’ll sing you right out of it.)
For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Life Is A Highway, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (Tim wrote the worst country song he could think of, and it remains one of their most requested.) A word about “Brother” - if you want to hear the lyrics, you’re going to have to listen with your eyes closed, ‘cause otherwise you’ll never get past the humor of the video to actually hear what they’re singing.
For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam’s arrangement. Nothing else like it.)
For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne.
(Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don’t just own a cover, they upgrade it.”
You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.
Very nice reaction, Koality. I subbed for more Home Free reactions. You're a natural at this, so I hope that you'll be doing more HF in the future. If you get a chance, listen to HF"s Auld Lang Syne- it's beautiful!
Thank you!! I really appreciate that! And yes, that one may be coming up… 😉
One thing that shows how much of professionals they are is that when they were filming the video they sang/lip-synced to a playback track, but the ice castle also had entirely different music playing over loud speakers at the same time that they couldn’t get them to turn off.
What?! Hahaha Oh man…
This is an older video. The guy with the hat (Chris Rupp) has left to be replaced by Adam Chance. Seems like a great move for all concerned. Awesome arrangement by Adam Rupp (the beatboxer).
They do a great cover of Mary Did You Know.
Just an aside, instead of 'beatboxer', in a cappella they usually use the term 'vocal percussionist.'
🎄🍟
Dear, you really need headphones 🎧 for Home Free 😊 and always watch their outros. You will come to love them and become a Home Fry 😁
I’m wearing ear buds! Don’t worry, the sound is phenomenal. Hah!!
You tried learning beatboxing? So cool! I want to learn that!
If anyone has a great YT tutorial suggestion on how to learn how to beatbox tell me what to type into the search bar!
Tim foust is the super bass. If you would like to hear
Kim Faust teamed up with the bass singer from Pentatonix listen and review the song from the movie Hobbit it's called Misty mountain cold it's awesome if you like bass.
You need to check out Snow Globe a There new one. Christmas in LA
Could you please checkout Hammerfall “Brotherhood” or “Hammer of Dawn” These guys are from Sweden! A really good band with great lyrics.
Are you thinking of vocal percussion?
Hey 👋❤🌹❤️🌻💐🌼🪻
Oops. There harmonie
Listen to Snow Globe
Love your cute cheeks. Fine job, girl. Peace.
Earballs???
You obviously didn't wear headphones, you need to listen to this with headphones to hear everything.
I am wearing headphones! I always do. I have ear buds in under my hair, you just can’t see them. You can in some reactions, though. Don’t worry, I heard everything!
