Cool build. Please include more B-roll/a little more video of the completed projects going forward. I feel like you typically do but this one seemed really quick.
Love it! I worked for a special fabrication shop in Vegas for years, we would have done the whole thing with sheet metal, 22ga and 11 ga, then wrap it in Formica to get a wood look. I would have galvanized or chrome the sheet metal. With those shapes a metal finish would be really cool looking. You can also use a combination of metal and MDF for more depth. We used to stack MDF on our metal frames. It looks amazing and I understand why you got frustrated. I am impressed you made it through the build! Most shop guys I have worked with would have given up!
I'm sure many people have mentioned this, but, use the original Gorilla Glue in your kerfs because it expands as it dries and will fill all the voids and make it really strong. Super cool project by the way.
Congratulations on the baby girl! That's so exciting! As for this build, I know it was a huge pain but dang does it look beautiful! It turned out awesome. I admit I love the AI builds. And personally I liked the fish table build even if others didn't. I can't think of a project you've done that I haven't liked to be honest. You inspire me a ton.
I appreciate the honesty and frustration on this a lot. I'v felt that on a bunch of my projects. Always love the reveal of course, but appreciated seeing that even the pros don't know what they're doing all the time. And all the guys holding the cabinet up at the end until a genius finally decided a stool and some blocks of wood could do it too was priceless. Would have loved a bit more detail on the reveal as well!
Honestly, I'm not sure what Chris does (design and Ai wise) can be taught, but I would love to see a video or two with a focus on his thought process and how he comes up with designs based on your requests John.
This is one of the coolest cabinets I have ever seen in my life. Absolute 11/10, love it!! Pity the final reveal wasn’t a full minute long 🙃 Cheers for sharing this one mate!
You could have used bendi-ply instead of using all the kerf cuts and the laminate a veneer on top. Simplifies quite a bit. Columbia forest products is a great source for this kind of material
it sure is a lot more expensive than kerf cutting some mdf. veneered bendiply is for pieces that are fully in view, front and center. curved corners on a bar, stuff like that. using it for curves in cabinetry that you're going to cover up with a face frame is kind of a waste.
It’s really not that expensive. A little less than your typical 23/32 ply. And it was painted. Put a piece of VT laminate on it and paint it. The time savings in the shop is well worth the money. I use the stuff quite regularly. Kerf cutting some like that needs to be reserved for solid wood.
@@keithpovec6462 well if time is all you have and money is tight or you just want to get some more budget tips into your prosumer level edutainment video.. it'll do
I know this had to be wayyyy more frustrating than we even saw given the time of year and your personal life, but it was obvious to everyone that it was hard and you stuck with it to finish content for us. We appreciate that and we appreciate you and your team. It looks cool and can be modified later after you’ve looked at it for a bit. It’s a fantastic version 1.0! Now sit back and enjoy your accomplishments while you and your team take time to relax with family!
Would love to see multi part series on stuff like this. Get more in depth and milk the content too. Gives you more time to spend on the project and actually show us that full process.
I this i chewed all my finger nails off while watching this...cant even imagine what it must be for you legends to build this! One of the best, if not THE BEST media center/entertainment centers ive ever seen in a long, long time!! You guys are legends of design, fun and showing what is actually doable! Congratulations of the 3rd baby, best of wishes to the mom! :D
I love it, I feel like you will have to build a funky looking conference table to have the team around. Adding led’s would be cool if they had that futuristic pulsing light effect
John, congrats on the baby girl. That’s awesome news. Hands are gonna be full. As for this build. Can we get a little reveal in the next video. Would love to see a little more of the finished product.
Fill the kerfs with fiberglass resin mixed with chopped strand and cabosil. Mix enough cabosil till it’s like peanut butter. Use a spreader to push it in to the kerfs and smooth out the curve. Oh, make sure you add the mekp before the additives.
You guys did a good job staying motivated I know the drag on can get difficult. Awesome that you brought the vision to life that's what kept me engaged in the video. Keep up the good work and congratulations on your 3rd!
I can’t explain how much I love your videos. You are so genuine and don’t give a rip. You show the mistakes and show your frustrations but then you can see the love and passion you have for the craft ! Just ordered a pair of shop shades for work! Keep grinding!
Congrats on a baby girl! Love this build. Wish I could’ve seen more of the final results in better details though. Thanks for all the great content in 2023 and looking forward to seeing what you got in 2024! Merry Christmas and happy new year John and crew. Cheers!
I would suggest using Wood Polymer Composite(WPC) boards to get dynamic curves for the shelves without kerfing. Kerfing reduces the material integrity and makes the bend fragile. WPC boards, Once heated to around 110 C, can be bent to confirm to flowing shapes and does not spring back. You can use a heat gun with foaming templates to do so. You can achieve flowing shapes too.
Congratulations on your next little baby girl arriving in 2024. Unit turned out as all your furniture does, brilliantly. My only thing is that with the white finish, you can't make out all your hard work carving out the front. Merry Christmas John to you, your staff but most importantly, your beautiful family 🎄🎅
By cutting all of those little relief cuts you weakened the board to invite failure. The bondo was a brilliant idea, however there is a plywood that is only 3 layers thick and so bends easily in one direction, it's cally bendy ply or something but it is super flexible to make curves out of but is only 3/8ths or a little thinner, perhaps 11/32nds or something. So by using two layers you can glue them in a form, best to put a thin layer of cloth in between the two layers or fiberglass if you have it and it will be super strong after it dries. It's texture is finely cracked and will need filling and sanding like any cheap plywood. I love these designs, I noticed that it modeled the spaces after bone's hollow end growth. A clever design, thinking outside of the box. Good job.
John you could not have planned the timing any better at all thank you for the laughs and the awesome shut u build! P.S. That is a badass entertainment center! Y'all should start doin building and installing those
@John_Malecki I'm a huge fan of your channel and congrats on number three!!!!! Try using AI to design a baby cradle. That would be a cool family project! Happy New Year!!!!

Kind of a lame reveal. You didn’t really give us a chance to see it up close, which is a shame because it looks pretty cool. Not sure if you’re just being dramatic when you act as if you didn’t like this project, but I much prefer watching these ideas come to life than the stupid copy cat TikTok ones or the pallet of returned tools. You and the team have amazing creative abilities and craftsmanship, show us more of that.
Kinda expected some camera panning and angles, not a single frame. Guess the editor needs coffee fully in his blood too. Cool build anyway. I would never attempt that.

Love the project. For your Shop Shades, think about adding some for those us us that need bifocals as we age. Love the look of the but need a 2.5 magnification pair. Just a thought. Thanks
Wow that was a ton of work. Looks great. Question - why didn't you have your CNC do the carving? Maybe the midjourney picture wasn't detailed enough to model the depth?
