It's a lot like Harrison Ford when he goes on talk shows. He's very shy in person so he puts on the 'grumpy mask' and people laugh their rears off and he gets away from a lot of personal questions. In the ad for Makia Racing Kimi really made fun of himself in a way that he would've never done like 2-3 years ago I think.
It is kind of hard to make it sound better because the microphone is wether on the helmet (so it has to catch the voice through the balaclava and it catches the surroundings as well) or in the balaclava itself so it is sticked to the mouth of the driver.
I think they are capitalizing on Kimi's image. I mean, they really picked which radio messages to broadcast on TV, didn't they? Those were by far the most interesting ones, but still. They really seem to help Kimi building up his 'persona'. It's just a theory but I kind of feel that now Kimi has come to terms with why people love his personality, makes fun of himself a bit at times without showing it too much and uses it as a big of a defense not to show his true self and get privacy.
listen all time to guys telling you push "x" button or control "y" graphic when the only thing you wanna do is drive fast through the track has to tire so much, because that's what makes you happy, and because that's the essence of this sport. That's the reason why I love drivers like Kimi, Alonso and Hamilton , because they're old school drivers. And that's why I completely understand Kimi's reaction. F1 has become in an electronic and aerodinamic fight, and thar's not F1
The engineers probably meant that they wanted Kimi to change some of the car setup, using the buttons and switches on the steering wheel. My guess is they wanted "Recovery Preset 5" for the KERS, only the team would know what that did. And also wanted Kimi to move the strength of the brakes a little bit further to the front wheels than the back wheels, possibly due to tyre wear as additional front brake balance would reduce the risk of the car's rear spinning out when braking for a corner
obviously not, but do you really think they're going to waste it on a radio when the normal does the job fine? a clearer radio is NOT going to improve lap times.
just leave him alone he knows what he is doing !
"Thanks guys, great job. This is for you." Good man Kimi.
Thanks for the video!!!
this really does give a great insight to how formula 1 works
0:31 Sound of Julien Simon-Chautemps, they work together here at Lotus, then Alfa Romeo. ("For What" team radio 😂)
Thanks for the vid! =) I wonder why they didnt play all of Kimi's reply to the team after the had won the race though
What a GOD
"Don't talk to me in the middle of the corner"
OK, all these screens, all that telemetry, all the race control updates. Those are awesome. Where did you get this video?

Bilions of dollars in car technology but radio that sounds like the driver is in space.
0:29 You haven't to remind him all the second

Even if this is kimi, you cannot tell me that this was all that The iceman and his race engineer told each other
It makes it cooler
Thats the Sky Sports F1 pitlane feed i believe.

Gold.
Just to make it funnier really - "yeah thanks guys."
Money is not a fu*king problem in F1.

What does his engineer meant when he said "KERS recovery 5 brake balance two clicks forward"?

God save this video from copyright laws! HAHAHHA

Weight saving? ;)
why waste the money on the radio when you can spend that on making the car go faster?
qqq
Actually Kimi's reply is: "Just leave me alone!I know what to do." I wonder why it's always miquoted?
