Great person on and of track, always respecting other drivers with zero foul play. Hate doing commercials and simple minded interviewers with stupid NPC questions. The most enjoyable F1 driver to follow at from start of 2000 era. Thank you.
He is the benchmark for race craft. Exemplary, did not give a quarter but always drove fairly. What Would Kimi Do? is the best question a racing car driver can ask from themselves when it comes to close racing. Max has the same raw talent but has had the wrong values instilled in him...
@@squidcaps4308 When Max had a blinder at Brazil (2016 I think), I recall him saying " I remember Kimi doing that so I gave it a try".. Max has talent but he is a blunt axe at the front. In fact I have not seen Anyone as precise (mm perfect) as Kimi in close racing on the limit & his creative passes in places others don't even think about make him an exceptional racer.
The thing that no one really talks about with Kimi is that he is third in the standings of fastest race laps after Hamilton and Schumacher, topping the likes of Alonso, Vettel, Button, Verstappen, Prost, Mansell. Even on less performing cars, like the later Ferraris he could snatch fastest laps.
This is by far the best "biographical" video of Kimi's F1 career. Some beaut family photos i i havn't seen before say a lot in their togetherness - beautifu! THANK YOU!❤❤😊
Since the pirelli era and without refuelling, the driver who changes tyres the latest (especially when it is the soft compound) will usually get fastest lap during the race. Regularly drivers in midfield cars get this way the fastest lap of the race. This was unthinkable in Schumachers era.
Kimi at McLaren was one of the fastest drivers ever in Formula-1. Ron Dennis said that. And that man had Lauda, Hakkinen, Senna and Prost in his team. He probably knows what he's talking about. Kimi just didn't have the commitment of Schumi, Prost and Senna. He also wanted to have a life outside of F1. He's a legend for sure.
Nah. He was just 100% a driver. He didn't butt into other people's jobs like others. He let the engineers do their jobs and to sort things out but he was as committed as any other champion behind the wheel. The problem is that people expect their star drivers to also be part time team managers and PR darlings. Kimi was probably the purest driver out of any of the F1 champions along with Hakkinen.
@@nervanderi Yes for Jenson. But Kimi almost won in the 3rd Best Mclaren in 2003, and should have won 2005 but for the worst reliability in F1 ever. He was an absolute monster that year. Kimi want ever say "what if", because he not wired like that..But anyone at Mclaren knew he was the fast guy they had ever seen and still say so now. Even Jenson speaks fondly and respectfully of Kimi's time at Mclaren - there is absolutely no comparison...Kimi is light years better just had too much bad luck.
I mean, when Ron Dennis says, having had Mika, Ayrton, Lauda, Prost as hes drivers, says that Kimi was one of the fastest drivers in the whole history of the sport, probably speaks volume. I know the true fans know this, but it's not really talked about enough because Kimi was always so laid back and chill about the "work" he had. For sure one of the biggest pure talents ever, barely any hard work involved, naturally insane car control/feel. (Max and Sebastian are opposite, insane amount of hard work, but just as good feel)
One important thing I like about Raikkonen is that he is actually completely focused on the race. He also doesn't make offensive remarks to other drivers after the race. Compared with their contemporaries, Vettel, Verstappen, Alonso, are too aggressive to other drivers. And if Raikkonen loses to his opponent in the race, he won't think that the opponent is just luckier than him. I remember that in the Italian Grand Prix in 2018, Vettel was out at the start. Then Raikkonen and Hamilton brought a wonderful race, and you can see that when they drove the car to the limit, the car slipped a little when it came out of the corner. Although he lost to Hamilton at the time, I have to say that everything he did is admirable.
Kimi is very nice and talks a lot when with friends. Total opposite of his public image. And he never blamed other drivers. He was a gentleman in that sense. And if Dennis just offered a more reliable car Kimi could have 4 championships.
Had Ferrari treated Kimi correctly and left him in charge of development, setup etc, I reckon Kimi would have dominated every season up until (roughly) 2022 where he would have retired on his won accord. He was simply THAT GOO.
Really if he had won 2003 & 2005 like he could easily have I really doubt he would have left Mclaren. Then you have to consider that 2007 was perfect car for him (very pointy and finally more reliable) - he would have won 2007 at Mclaren by SPA! I reckon. Possibly even 2008. When drivers have the success they deserve guess what then happens...Red Bull and/or Mercedes later would have signed him and you could guarantee he would have more..Of course it rules out others...but seriously you could see it happening. I'm certain he could easily have 4 with just better luck/ timing. He was definitely better than Vettel and he was at least equal to Lewis. I see Kimi as the greatest at the start of the century and Lewis being his natural successor. I don't think Vettel (as brilliant and hard working as he is ) or that grub Alonso as Fast as Kimi or Lewis who are exceptional natural talents...You see it in changeable or wet conditions they have far better feel in a car...
@@theelf152 for certain mate, in fact Kimi is simply head and shoulders above anybody including Lewis. His time at McLaren and lotus are unmatched- as exceptional as sir Lewis is, I don’t think even he could provide competition for prime Ice man.
It's amusing that Kimi being the best natural talent in F1 history is actually not an uncommon opinion for a lot of F1 fans despite the records not saying so. I firmly believe it was because he was just that good that he gave that impression to anyone who saw him when he came to the sport. Literally the best talent, still is in my opinion, to come after Ayrton Senna. Of course, we have to be fair to the people who actually did become multiple champions like Vettel and Lewis. It was said in Kimi Räikkönen's 2018 autobiography that the main reason leaving Lotus was that the team owed him lots of money from contractual bonuses from championship points etc. Räikkönen used the back surgery as a way to leave Lotus before the end of the season and he later on went on to join Ferrari for 2014. The salary dispute was settled during the 2013 season.

If Mclaren had not been so unreliable, he would have won 2 championships in early days. And a second one with Ferrari or Lotus.. had ferrari not been keen on making Vettel a champion for some reason.. and if Lotus had the financing they needed.
He is still my favorite F1 driver. Scary fast with zero fear and no lifting at Eau Rouge. He always seemed to be at the right team at the wrong time. McLaren on kind of a downslope.
