There are many great CS and software engineering instructors on YT. You, sir, are one of the best. Thank you for this and all your other stellar content.
Watched 2 years later trying to learn the basics of pc components so I can build a streaming/gaming PC. Vid gave me a lot of knowledge and was simple to understand. THANK YOU
Thank you so much for this! I'm looking to get a job as a retail associate for Best Buy and I have no idea about computer stuff, this has really helped simplify things.
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all those PC acronyms . It really helped me understand more about how computers work. I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge. I can't afford to join your UA-cam Membership right now, but I'm certainly happy to give this video a like and subscribe to your channel!! :)
Nice video mate , I think u forgot that the motherboards only support certain amount of ram speeds , the more speed of ram u put in that motherboard , its going to work but still , use the speed which is specified on the motherboard , So also check the ram compatibility in your motherboard and buy the RAM according to it . Have a Nice day
Thank you for this video! I’m a complete noob at all this but now I feel like an Amateur LOL I really understand it far more than I did a few hours ago. A few hours cuz I rewatched curtain parts over and over and kept going to google and further researching each part. But now I’m ready to order my PC. Thank you again bro! 🙏
gut video, but ya should had spoken more about PSU(Power Supply Unit) its pretty straight forward, but if ya update yar computer make sure PSU has the watts and pins for new mobo(mother board) and/or GPU
My PC is 8 yrs old with 4 gb ram and Integrated Intel 4000 gpu on a Intel i3-3rd gen CPU.I do game development, Photo editing, Video editing in it. 500 gb SSD is there btw.
Thank you! I am illiterate when it comes to computers and you have made it clearer. I have an HP Pro desk with 24gb of ram, an ssd was just installed recently, processor Core i5-7500 Cpu @3.40 Ghz. Would installing an nvidia card make it faster with PS and Lr? The pc is six years old.
You missed a very important part: the cooling part. My CPU is powerful yet only 50% of its power is unleashed because it has a shitty cooling fan and thus has to be underclocked.
Can you go more into depth with the different components as well as their compatibility with other models of the same kind of product? Ive been looking it up for a while but havingbit shown and explained is way better imo
I have a low end cpu with a built in gpu and I can edit videos with it, I think you should consider on how much ram you have when editing videos, 8-16 gb is recommended
I've heard mixed things about video editors needing GPU. Please anyone correct me if my understanding is wrong. Currently, my understanding is that if you're just doing basic video editing i.e no special effects, editing or advanced editing techniques, GPU really isn't that important and you'd probably be better off just getting a better CPU. If you are doing advanced video editing techniques that are going to require the computer to perform complex arithmetic you will want the GPU to be good. Howd i do?
I have a question. why dont you mention volatile and non-volatile in the ram and hard drive and SSD section. it would've been quite helpful for beginners
Tim, I just discovered your channel tonight. I'm in IT(career change two years ago), but am not really going anywhere. It has been stale. I am considering a cyber security school that starts classes next month. It's around $25,000 for six months of training. Am I better off(for the resume) getting into that OR learning coding/everything else you teach. The kicker is, I do already know some CS stuff but have zero coding knowledge.
I had to build a new machine because 32GB RAM wasn't nearly enough, so my new rig has 128GB. I personally wouldn't recommend anything less than 16GB RAM for a new system these days, especially for anyone planning on running Windows. Most Linux systems run better with less RAM than a comparable Windows system, but I still wouldn't recommend less than 16GB unless your budget is REALLY really tight. Oh, and if you're going with Linux, might want to stay away from Nvidia.
One point that you missed on GPUs, specifically NVIDIA is that they have comparatively bad support for linux especially with the new rising Wayland display server. I know you said this video was for beginners but there are a lot of beginners who use linux as well. I think you have to address that point as well.
@@kimfroman2023 Oh no. Its not a motherboard. Heard of the X display server on Linux? It is the component on a linux OS that manages the display basically. I don't think I am the best one to explain exactly what it is. But a quick youtube or google search should give you the appropriate results.
It mainly comes down to what you need the laptop for. Will it be running machinery or equipment? What equipment is that and what are the manufacturer's requirements for a computer. I personally would go with a 15.6" laptop that has a full HD screen (FHD is 1920x1080), minimum of 8 GB of RAM and a 500 GB solid state drive (SSD).
Can you do in-depth video on each component for dummies?
are you in cybersecurity field

2:35 thanks for making this point clear. I see many people calling the monitor as the "computer"
Those are usually the same people that call the computer the hard drive.

Thank you, this is solid advice. I did the the SSD and hard drive combo and doubled my computer speed.
You posted at the perfect time
I needed this a few minutes ago
Dude you're actually teaching me.... And I'm so grateful because I find learning so difficult
I actually made notes from what you spoke and explained, decent and helpful stuff brother 👍❤️
give this man a medal please
Thank you so much for this!

suuuuch a good introductory video. thank you Tim. literally people don't even learn this in college (which they pay thousands for)...
10s of thousands

this video is so helpful and well explained, thank u!
This was insanely clear, organized, informative and well-articulated. Thanks a lot!
I used to study IT in highschool but I dropped out, I want start learning again as an adult and this video is really helpful, thank you 😁
Great Video! Looking forward to level 2.
This video is pure gold thank you man

I find this video really helpful and I learned a lot from it thank you.
I think for most users it is much better to buy just 500GB SSD for almost the same price of 1000GB HDD
What a timing! I'm buying computer rn, so this video is extremely helpful for me, thanks!
Very understandable. Thank you bro. And I really liked the Thanos finger snap.
This helped SO much. Thank you
A refreshingly simple explanation of what is often described in gobbledegook

I still can remember how i start my programming life way back with your python virtual assistant tutorial

what about cooling solution for cpu and gpu?

Can a built in graphics cpu can handle a video editing?

Nice one .
I shared the video to my friends & family & they replied back what's the use if they got me already 😂😅😂😂
Hi Tim, can you make detailed videos on computer architecture and hardware engineering topics, like H bridge, cache memory etc

From what I’m guessing is speed is how fast the data is moving. So cpu speed is how much data can be moved person set time scal
Smashing dear
Hey Tim! Could you make a video for the python ursina engine to make 3D games? It would be great!
I would not judge a person on their looks but you can have fun with that
Thank you for make this video

Thank you for speaking English. PC terms are so confusing

I'm in the market for a laptop for my vinyl cutting and T-shirt business what would you recommend I look for in a laptop
If you turn off your CPU, anything in Ram is not going to simply disappear as it saved and stored there.
If there is no power connected to the computer RAM will be cleared
I'm dumb... I wish I could understand technology. I miss the old Sega days.
A Like just for the Google - RAM joke.
Did you ever do an in-depth review on each component… for dummies.
