I love the aircraft ever since I started spading it, only complaint is the attack aircraft playstyle should have its own gamemode or at least an airspawn for subsonic attack aircraft. Also guys check out the Harrier variants, they got a flight model update and can turn much better now
Agreed,on RB it should work fine with air spawn ,ground attack and go back to base
Like, for the su17 it used to be on point and sometimes you would get caught but now without it's air spawn,you either get a aim54 on you,or any other radar missile
Loadout based spawns is the easiest fix available simply because the game already displays your loadout types to every teammate. Carrying rockets and bombs? Go ahead, air spawn. Gunpods and AAMs? Runway spawn. Attack aircraft at Tier 6 used to viable before they removed air spawn above tier 5, but now theyre mostly forced to play as a fat fighter or gamble to not get intercepted with your load
I don't think all of the Harriers got a new flight model; a new Harrier was added and it has a better flight model.
if you can stomach it, picking more empty matches in Air SB can give you a more attacker/bomber centric play than the dogfights only team deathmatch of Air RB
I’ve been trying to research the modifications for this thing and it’s been nothing but pure pain. I get killed before I can even make it to one ground target or base 9/10 times. An air spawn would be great but limiting it to without AAMs would be probably the only to balance it considering how insanely powerful aim-9Ls and R60Ms are at this br

I remember in Bf3 on some maps you could fly the A-10 Warthog on the American side and the Su-25 Frogfoot on the Russian side as their equivalent.
Same in Bf4

Great review, as always. Have you considered doing review episodes on air to air missiles? History of the weapon, usage in game, launch distances, agility, that sort of thing.
I think it'd be a really interesting resource, as well as really useful for people new to Missile Thunder and not sure how to best use their weapons.

I think that many, many War Thunder players who also enjoy DCS will have a great time flying this in Simulator Battles, as it’s one of the tutorial aircraft.

Biggest problem is the BR and lack of decompression. It's just not fair to the 8.7 bracket to face so many all-aspect high turn performance missiles when they don't even get flares and are often outperformed by the CAS aircraft.
I agree, although as I learned with the A-10 Early and it's 30g all-aspect missiles, most of the folks flying/using the plane are morons.
Not fair for most planes in the 9.0-9.7 bracket, anything without flares dies to planes like this and the A10 and they've nothing to do against them
@@mangofanta2667 I fly the F-86-40 quite a bit and it's not as bad as you're making it out to be. Although, as I said before, a lot of that is that most folks in A-10s are incompetent.
I only tend to get missile kills within 1.5 miles, on aircraft that are already slow or don’t notice me. It’s like seeing an A-10, maneuver to attack from the side and you’re good
@@mangofanta2667 Exactly, doesn't matter if the flight performance means it can easily get energy trapped if you can't go vertical because you'll eat a missile without flares.
And even though it might dump all its energy doing it, the SU-25 can always get its nose around faster than you can... Which would be fine, if it didn't have all-aspect missiles.
I kill quite a lot of these things with my Hunter F.6, but only when they're completely distracted or by avoiding engagement at the beginning till they run out of missiles, then I stand a chance.
But a 1 vs 1 at the beginning of the match where we can both see each other coming, the SU-25 wins 99% of the time.
Considering its a lower BR AND its meant to be a ground attacker that consistently beats higher tier fighters, that's just disgusting.
Hi Tim! I found a little trick with the laser des that allows you to fling dumb bombs or drop from high altitude automatically. Equip a dumb bomb... keybind laser des, lock and remove target. When you set the LD you will get a horizontal green line that guide you to target, just hold your bomb release button and when the computer calculates a drop on target it will release.. series bombs works best. with this function you can fling them using this function. this is for bombs. Not AGM

I really like this plane because I like the strike aircraft playstyle. Bomb a base or two and still have viable air to air ordnance to get you back to the airfield. This and the wyvern are my two favorite aircraft right now.
What is the name of the control to move the curser? Not the cross hairs, the circle around it. I can't figure it out and it's maddening. My control scheme got deleted. I can get my plane to move around but the camera always keeps facing the same way. Also, my engine throttle keeps going back down to 47% for some reason, and I want it to stay at where I leave it. I'm using mouse aim and I am on PS4 if that makes a difference. Any help is appreciated.
Su-25 doesn't have laser pod in real life, it is just the HUD in pilot cockpit "zoomed it" when pressing toggle view button in WT, a way made by Gaijin to simulate the slewing of laser indicator from HUD. So, complaining about Sukhoi laser pod is irrelevant because it doesn't have one in real life. The pilot just use the HUD to strike big targets like hangars, factories and bridges using Kh-29\25 missiles.

Te only su25 that have a targeting por and a TV are the su25 T and TM with the Skyvall system and the su25 sm3 with the solt 25 system
The SL modifier is also 1.3 on the tech tree version so you won't be making any SL with it.
How do you laser a target with this in VR? I have a visibility bubble of 4km . cant see shit.
Maybe you could help? But I believe the A4-E is meant to have ccip for the bombs. The thing that indicates where the bombs will land. But I can't find it. So I don't know if I read wrong or if I just am not finding how to do it.
What is the purpose of the Kopyo-25 in CAS? Can it guide weapons to target, or just help to spot targets?
I’ll be honest I expected the cannon to be mediocre at best at first.. but good god it just deletes people.
If you hit a plane with an HE round, chances are it just detonated completely or had something get ripped off.
Hit a tank with the APHE round? If it penned, they’re either dead or about to be dead from the next one.
And it’s big enough to 1-shot most ground targets in RB aside from pillboxes and ships.
Pill boxes get 1 shot from ground belts

@@cristobalalvarez5491 Nerfing the GAU was a dick move by Gaijin. IIRC, the guns on both the Warthog and Frogfoot (IRL) are pretty comparable, excepting rate of fire.
Hey Tim, do You mind putting a link for that Ukrainian skin? Most of the ones I found on wt live don't work (at least for me)
It's only weaknesses are low ammo and o.87 mach wing rip off, but everything else is nightmare for its victims, every ground vehicle can pray that the su25 won't find them, and in air it's a mutated A-10. I'm soon getting it and i can't wait when ill help my people in GAB battles.
In Simulator battles I killed a Harrier GR7 twice, several ships including enemy carrier and bases using SU 25.
It quite hard at the beginning but once you master it you ll see this plane is much more easier to kill AA than the A 10
The reason why you have a camera without zoom is because in real life you would aim the laser with your croshair in the cockpit. thats why it moves when you target something.

I think WT should allow you to change loadouts during matches, each time you land.
It already does: if you land on your team´s runway and wait for the repair and rearm timers to finish, you can j out or press esc and select leave aircraft to go back to the pre-spawn screen and change your suspended weapons loadout, amount of fuel, gun ammo belts and convergence, etc. You can even leave the match early that way with little to no sl penalty and only a small crewlock timer.

In Ground RB this would get you kicked out of your plane and back to your Spawn menu. But it won't count as a death
Even if they made it with a slight SL penalty, it would still be very handy. I have played quite a few matches where I have taken off with my general weapons load, and by the time I expend it, I either need an more AA heavy, or AT heavy load, but there is no good way to switch without ditching the plane and respawning.

Just finished maxing it. That was painful in air RB. Now I'll only use it in combined battles. Don't know yet what loadout will be my fav for CAS
"Just finished maxing it. That was painful in air RB" not at all when you use it as intended - destroying the grounds. If you have left a time to rocket, bomb and shoot grounds you get large amount of RP.
I've found some good success with a custom load out of 2x Kh29L, 2x Kh-25ML and 4x S-25O
Depending on the BR this will cost you between 660 and 780SP with using the Universal belt on the gun. Ground Target belt is 150SP+ but not worth it
I swear it's one of the most hard to learn planes i've flown, i suffered less in the he 162
They fixed it so that you can't turn away from the target anymore. You have to keep the laser designator in an area that will still illuminate the target.
For r60m? Or for ground misiles?
@@h0lck476 Just for the air-to-ground missiles as they are laser beam riding. The R-60s are heat seekers and don't need any support

You can very easily guide your Laser-weapons from the 3rd person view.
You have to bind "set targeting point" and every time ypu press it a small red rectangle will appear. Once you fire your KH-25ML or Kh-29L you can repeatedly set a new point and the Missle will aim for it
@@dpjanda A10 doesn't use Laser guided weapons tough. They're all TV or IR so using this method won't work for them since they're fire and forget
I will say here what I commented on justinplays' video: as """ok""" as I think it is at 9.7 (it should be 10.0 imo), seeing it rip is wings super easily in a straight line and pulling 10-11G turns if you apply full elevator at 800+ kph, it HAS to be overperforming quite a bit.
The SU-25 is about where it should be in terms of survivability (if not too survivable), Ive tanked 2 missiles and continued on flying (albeit with a heavy limp). The A-10 needs a buff. The Su-25 is also astounding in Air RB, its not uncommon to get at least 2 kills, up to 4 in a match, in one run or so.

PREFACE: I don't own the A10, I'm a Soviet main. I couldn't even tell you what BR the A10 is. IIRC, the real planes are about comparable when it comes to overall survivability. Not saying one took design cues from the other (though knowing the Soviets that is a highly likely scenario) So it really doesn't make sense that one is less durable than the other in game. But Gaijin isn't exactly known for making logical choices with it's balancing

@Florin Oliver I don't see the point in it. As inventive as humans are, we aren't above taking ideas from others. And as far as Gaijin goes, I don't much like the company. But they are still better than Wargaming imo

I was flying in air RB the other day, hit an Su-25K with two AIM-9G's and the thing still kept flying. Likewise, Oddbawz did a video on this and took two Stinger MANPADS and 30mm Gepard fire and was still flying albeit pretty heavily damaged. The damage model is insane for it, dare I say overperforming. Having been a very keen fan of the Frogfoot for many years I've flown this type in DCS extensively and I can tell you now a MANPAD hit might allow you to limp back to base on one engine, but taking multiple hits like this is just unrealistic.
The main gun is digusting against top down attacks vs ground units and with the air belts will absolutely one tap aircraft. I managed to get some six kills on my third game vs a bunch of A-10's with it and even reversed an A-5C who was flying like an absolute buffoon.
I see you rocking the custom Ukraian Airforce skin! I'm using a couple versions of that one and it's very nice.

F-104C review when
I carry 8 bombs and 2 r60. I can destroy 2 bases and potentially 2 planes before reloading. I've also had an enemy hit me with a missile, ripping my wing off, giving him the kill and I've still managed to land it. Despite being dead......
this thing has absolutely busted damage model being able to tank missiles easly even as shown in the video
how is diferent between huge S-25O types of rocket?
Different armor pen and warhead sizes.
I don't have the stats in front of me, but some of them are better for attacking light targets and some are better for heavier targets.

Great review and so glad we finally have the Frogfoot in game. I do hope that they eventually add the Su-25TM (Su-39) since it's the most recent upgrade and looks awesome.

Correction to your video, it gets r-60mks, not just r-60s. Again, it should be 10.0 at the minimum with MKs considering it currently fights aircraft without flares
I generalized to the R-60 family, since there are 3 of them between the 2 jets. I showed all 3 when discussing the weapons.
