Fantastic amp, after much reviewing and comparing in search of a small/medium size tube amp that wouldn't cost stupid amounts I just kept finding myself come back to the AV series, for me the Av30 offers the best balance of price and quality, nice size amp but not TOO huge, near enough full tube sound and a few decent effects as added bonus, buy it won't dissapoint.

Ok, someone please clear this up for me. When they say 'modern' vs. 'vintage' bias, is that synonymous with cold\hot bias?

elmero mero Really really well. I've got MI effects blues pro, dr scientist the elements, and a good old DS-1. I have the AV60, and it sounds great with pretty much any genre, jazz, blues, funk, metal, rock, you name it.

Man hate when they leave out sucht important things like the weight, or if its loud enought to play over a drum......

It's not that heavy, but it's certainly loud enough. The Peavy 5150 emulation has a metal cut that is absurd even with lower gain levels, so it can slice through the other instruments in a mix. The volume at 50% for that setting is way too loud for a bedroom level, and that's with the power switch turned to a low level.
