Hello Ricky, 👋 Many major US cities have compost/ mulch programs where you can get free material, such as Griffith Park here in Los Angeles. The mulch in this lesson was purchased at Home Depot- they should have all the products Kelloggs brand and wood chip products I used. In this lesson. Let me know if you have any questions? Have a GREAT week! Charles 🌱👍 Check this out (starting at 4:00): ua-cam.com/video/brfU0QEMVEk/v-deo.htmlsi=GoNRi-pHKWwGlKeZ
Look at those lemons!!! Wow!!! Just proof of how important it is to use IV Organic products on your citrus!!! My container trees continue to thrive here in the midwest, unreal how fast leafing has occurred after pruning back main trunks of both Lisbon & Eureka lemon and Washington Navel trees!!! Your AWESOME instruction, as well as all the products you have produced, have been so beneficial over the years!!! Thank you much, Charles! Blessings...Al W. 🙂
I’m looking at how much soil space you have between the both sidewalks, is that space big enough ? Could it be adding to the problems of your lemon tree?
Hi. N. Illinois here. I have a question about a wild soft maple that I transferred 5 years ago. This tree is looking very healthy but is circled by shoots that are approximately 1 to 2 inches in diameter. What is a safe way to remove the shoots to free up the main trunk? Thanks
Where in N IL? I'm in Dekalb. If the tree shoots are unnecessary, you can prune them close to the ground. coat the cutting with IVO whitewash. This will protect the tree from bugs, and infections. Could you make sure you don't cover the cut stems with mulch? This will give rise to infection. The base of the tree is established, a dividing line between above ground and underground. Charles and I worked on a project together. He has very good knowledge of plants and trees. You can dig around the sucker and cut as low as possible. If there are roots on the suckers you can sever them from the parent and replant where you might want another tree to grow. Avoid cutting into the bark of the tree trunk. This will help in preventing disease and unwanted pest entries into the tree!
@ Thanks for the reply. I’m in the Rockford area, so we’re close. I thought about I might cut them vertically to avoid hitting the main trunk? What do you think? Also should it be safe NOW during this time of year to prune my hard and soft maple’s, pine trees, catalpa, oak and walnut trees? Thanks again
Doggone ground squirrels ate fruit and foliage and climbed around breaking branches right and left in my stone fruit this year. So discouraging! Next year I will try tulle all over the fencing around each tree. And if that fails, I may finally resort to traps.
This is how I found ivy organics. My trees started showing improvements. Im not a expert grower was just trying to understand what was happening.
We’re SO PROUD to be a part of your growing successes!
