    There's something so hypnotic and psychedelic about this rendition that it's basically a different song, which is awesome. Hats off to Band of Joy for making such a unique version.

      @@goku5511 I agree there voices are different, but I honestly wouldn't say Robert is a better singer than Josh, as far as pure technique goes Josh has better pitch, vibrato, and overall more control, but Robert Plant is obviously a legend

    • @goku5511
      @goku5511 4 роки тому +1

      Braydon Barnum better pitch? I can see that. Better vibrato? That’s a stretch. Check out Zepps BBC recordings. Plant did crazy things on the mic. And as far as overall control? I think the guy with over a dozen albums under his belt all with different sounds and techniques claims that prize. No doubt they are both amazing singers. I personally just do not see the similarities others see. I think Josh sounds much more like Ian Gillian. All in all these are just my humble opinions I’m no expert.

    Intéressante et originale version de ce grand classique . On reconnaît bien la voix de Robert Plant. Il s'agit donc de Band Of Joy, son premier groupe, avant Led Zeppelin, en 1967, selon ce que j'ai lu. Toujours est-il que leur guitariste jouait sacrément bien. J'ai même cru qu'il s'agissait de Jimmy Page...

    Eu escuto Deep Purple todos os dias.Eles são perfeitos!Mas eu ainda acho que eles estão muito longe de serem comparados a Led Zeppelin porque aqueles 4 endiabrados são a própria imagem do Rock.Eles tem uma química inexplicável,um rock cru,nú,puro e simples mas inigualável! Não é nem questão de ser o Jimmy o melhor,ou o Plant...é a mágica que explode quando eles se juntam(juntavam,infelizmente).

    I don't know Led Zeppelin and rock isn't exactly my childhood to adulthood music but first it was Jimi Hendrix who gave me the wink into rock and roll with his legendary hey Joe, now this tribute to Jimi Hendrix is something, i play it countless times, i should say it surpasses all hey Joes with its slow calculated tempo, the serious mood almost pleading voice of a man I came to know as Robert Plant. Listening to this sensational piece sung from the heart you actually envision Robert crying in sympathy with Joe and with a tired but determined voice of a runaway Joe declare his iron clad determination to skip justice. Excellent my man Bob Plant I'm mostly touched by your grievingly cross voice repremanding Joe...so real so touching. If Jimi Hendrix would be around listening to this im sure he would frankly admit that you beat him at his own game

      Geo Reinecke The only future Zeppelin members on this recording are Plant on Vocals and Bonham on drums. Both Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were doing session work at the time.

      +RyanThompsonGuitarist isn't this a tribute to Jimmy Hendrix of when he died? he died in 1970.

      Page joined The Yardbirds after a brief time with The Mickey Finn. He replaced Paul Samwell-Smith on bass, but switched promptly to lead accompanying Jeff Beck, and Chris Dreja moved from rhythm to bass. Jimmy was the longest lasting of Yardbirds' enigmatic guitar-slingers, even carrying on as 'The New Yardbirds' for a couple of Scandinavian shows, and Dreja also soon left.
      That name went down like a led zeppelin, so a studio producer and musician associate John-Paul Jones was asked to come in to take Dreja's place. A good recruitment really, since Jones could also play keyboards and mandolin among other things, and could add considerable studio capabilities.
      That may have appeared a little of a 'shambolic' mix of seasoned musicians from the offset, Plant & Bonham mates from a Brummie scene, and comparatively amateur local chancers - but the chemistry worked great!

    This sends chills. Early raw Plant sounds incredible. I see why Page scooped him up. Page said in an interview, he actually fell in love with Plant, after the first listen. He also said that he was thinking of firing him because he went totally out of control at the early gigs. I think it's safe to say, we're glad he didn't. :-)

      Jimmys first choice was Steve Marriott and he turned Jimmy down and didn't want to leave the small faces. Imagine what those 2 would have done for music?

    Thank you for this, there are still confused accounts on the BOJ and Hobbstweedle. Plant said somewhere it was Jimmy and Dreja who went and see him. It must have been a great music time in the Black Country in those days.

    It is NOT Led Zeppelin. This is a Band of Joy demo from 1967, with Plant singing, Bonham on drums. Plant included it in his best of album, "Sixty Six To Timbuktu".

      +Lucas Besfonc Seguinte: Tecnicamente falando, o Led é sim a maior banda de todos os tempos e isso quem diz, não sou apenas eu, mas inclusive a maioria destes caras que vc citou aí. Vc pode preferir o som ou uma música em particular desta ou daquela banda, mas, foram raras as bandas que conseguiram ter entre seus membros apenas virtuoses e com tanto êxito. Plant, Page, Bohan, John Paul, todos individualmente estão entre os melhores da história senão eleitos os melhores, e a banda como conjunto, idem. Sobre as polêmicas, dane-se! Gosto é gosto. eu gosto de "A", vc de "B" e é assim que o mundo existe. Mas polêmica por polêmica, a simples postagem deste vídeo é uma polêmica. #entendedoresentenderão. rsrsrs...
