Mr. Roger Troutman "Roger" November 29, 1951-April 25, 1999 #RESPECT #LEGENDARY #ROGERTROUTMAN #ROGER #RESTINPARADISEMRTROUTMAN #GONEBUTNEVERFORGGOTTEN
My favorite grandma in the whole wide world LOVED their music and I can make you dance was her favorite song. I have all of their albums and I've meet Lester and Zapp.
Roger and Zapp were a tremendous influence on me, as they contributed heavily to the soundtrack of my very life. I still use the talk box to this day, for live shows, as well as when recording in my home studio. I feel like I let them down, as I never succeeded as a musician, but I admire them still.
We did love Roger and Zapp out here in California. I remember them announcing his death on the radio in LA. We were in disbelief. I had a 5 disc cd changer in the mid to late 90s, Eazy-E, Tupac, Biggie, Zapp and Roger, and Brenton Wood were always in there. Brenton Wood is the oldest and the only one still kickin'! Thanks for the video.
I'm from California and I'll tell you that I'd be lying if Roger did not make an influential impact on the West Coast rap scene, especially when G-Funk got huge. He was also influential on new jack swing music since Teddy Riley took up after Roger on the talkbox.
The Zapp band, those are my boyz! I miss Roger and the times my brother Tony and I shared with Roger when the band was in the St. Louis area! Helping out where we could when they were in town. Chauffeuring, security etc. Myself and my six siblings are all in the music industry as well! I too dealt with a tragedy of loosing my 21 year old son to violence and I understand how it feels when it just seems like everything has come to a halt. But God was still there! May God bless the Troutman Family and us all! Amen!
As a Talkbox Vocalist myself i was inspired by Roger Troutman. First time i ever heard the Talkbox i actually mistakened it for a Vocoder which the two have a very similar sound but a Vocoder is a totally different thing. Like for example Daft Punk uses the Vocoder. I actually saw a few videos on UA-cam of Roger using the Talkbox which encouraged me to wanna learn about it and play it. Picked up my first ever Talkbox from Guitar Center in 2016 and bought a Synthesizer "MicroKorg" to go with it. The Talkbox i started out with was the Rocktron Banshee 2 and later on in my music career have used both the MXR M222 by Dunlop and the TalkStar Talkbox by John "Fingazz" Stary
Roger Troutman and Zapp deserves to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and it's a shame that these Dayton Ohio home band is not inducted Greg Harris step your game up and please induct Roger Troutman and Zapp into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
I was a teen when I learned that Roger passed away. I didnt know or paid attention or even figured out how he died until a few years later when I searched the net and discovered the sad truth. R.I.P. Roger Troutman
First artist to ever use a Talkbox on live TV is a steel guitar player "Pete Drake" which is who to believed to have inspired Peter Frampton. First person to ever use a Talkbox with a Keyboard is indeed Stevie Wonder than later on was Roger Troutman, Teddy Riley and nowadays we have Byron Chambers aka Mr. Talkbox.
I found out Roger Troutman died when I watched the unsung. The murder suicide happened a week after my 17th birthday. Rest In Peace Roger Troutman ❤🕊🙏🏼
The advice that Larry gave earlier in his life about money was profound. He already knew. I think their father must have been an amazing man. I always feel some kind of envy when I hear of fathers or parents like that.
If I was Roger , I was gonna haunt my fam until they remove me from the same grave as that bastard Larry😢😢 he robbed us of one of the greatest craftman in history
If a family member of mine murdered another family member, no way in hell that family member would deserve to be buried with the sibling he killed and given a fancy headstone. He ruined an empire and robbed us of more music.
Imagine roger today , so many hits ! Wiz Kalifa ft roger troutman Dj Khalid ft roger teoutman The list continues ft roger … Larry should have just let him go and worked for Walmart or something this sucks !
The most sampled artist in the history of music second only to the godfather himself, James Brown. If this had happened today, there will be conspiracy theories galore & facts be damned.
Regardless of what anyone says. I really believe the two should have not been buried together and should have been buried separated and a way from one another. In the afterlife they are not resting. In the Bible it says your neighbor in life is your neighbor in death. Whoever you are buried around and this is important if you believe. But when you are picking your plot, ask and do some research about the people who are buried next to you. Because if they were violent or just bad people. Just like your neighbor in life conflicts with you…. So will your neighbor in the after life. And u truly believe that. For that regardless of the brothers they were. And Larry Troutman to shoot his own little brother over money tells you he was not in the best places at the time he took his brothers life and his own. I see no path to heaven going out like that. And all the troutmans did by burying them together was torment Roger more in death. He does not deserve that in death.
Roger was definitely ahead of his time. Gone way too soon.
Very much so! Who knows what else he would have gone on to achieve. Thanks for watching 💕

Computer love so prophetic it’s scary wow😮
The sad thing is Roger’s son (and Lexii Alijai’s father) also passed away under mysterious circumstances. Just a sad situation all around…
Oh wow! I couldn’t find much about him other than something about going to prison. So sad.
