The anti hero is herself: she’s her own worst enemy.
EXACTLY! It's me... HI, I'm the problem, it's ME! 🙋♀️
@@cherylcugno7208 That’s why the Other Taylor is paranoid and critical and self-destructive; she’s all her worst thoughts and motivations
We all have the potential to be our own worst enemy ❤
In this song, Taylor is addressing all of her insecurities and how critical she can be of herself. The giant Taylor is referring to her feelings of being too famous to be normal. The bathroom scale scene is referring to her past issues with an eating disorder. The funeral scene is just for the video, but depicts her nightmare that if she has kids they will end up being privileged brats who only care about getting her money. "It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero" is a line directed to her fans who always defend her from the haters.
To famous to be normal. Great use of the giant as a metaphor. I should have seen that. Thanks!
Yeah she can’t go anywhere and be normal. She feels like she ruins things for other people because of it. She went to a friends wedding and it caused a huge crowd of fans showing up taking the focus off of the wedding. It’s so sad. When I’ve ever seen some famous I alway wait to see if it looks like they want to be alone or seem ok with fans and wooing to them before approaching. People should read the room before approaching anybody but especially with someone so famous
I think you would really like The Long Pond studio sessions and it's imperative to listen to the small interviews before each song, because not only do they offer insight into the lyrics, but they also help you get to know her as a person, as an artist, and as a brilliant mind so much better.
I'll probably do something from these next.
“It must be exhausting always routing for the antihero” is directed at the fans… the fans always have to defend her from the ridiculous hate she constantly gets and she’s acknowledging it by identifying as the antihero
Great reaction . To some that say you stop too much, ignore them and be yourself. Most Swifties have seen the videos, have the albums, go to concerts and know the songs. We come to reactions to hear your opinions. You appreciation of her lyrics and musical sensibility will make you a popular reactor in the Swiftie universe. I believe she is one the top lyricists of her generation ( maybe even the top) Her writing touches the soul
Thanks!
Well said 👍👍👏👏
I agree!!!! 💯
I appreciate when I get a new perspective from the reactor. Otherwise, I could just rewatch the video…which I still do lol. But I love seeing what sparks interest in reaction videos. Videographers are stoked by the transitions and effects, writers are drawn in by her lyrics, rappers love hidden bars and flow. It helps me appreciate music more thoroughly.
@@hartleyhearth yes! There is a rapper that reacts to TS and he comments on things being bars/ cadence that I might not otherwise appreciate
I do recommend "My Tears Richochet" from her long pond studio sessions with the interview in the beginning. It's about the man Scott Borchetta who sold her masters from under her so she couldn't own her own music and he was like a second dad to her. Its heart breaking. People always think she writes songs about her relationships but the hard hitting ones are ones like this. Also, from the same long pond studio sessions she has a song "This is me trying" about addiction and survivors that really hits home for a lot of people. I'm glad your enjoying your journey with her!
her albums folklore and evermore are more unplugged but it seems like you enjoy synth, You'd like her latest album the tortured poets department and her last one midnights as well. I also know that I gave you a lot of information just now so I'm sorry lol
Thanks for the info, Emily! Appreciate it! It's taken me a while to find the time to reply to comments, you've probably seen my reaction to My Tears Ricochet by now. I'm gonna stick with the Long Pond Sessions for the next few reactions, This Is Me Trying and Exile will probably be the next two. Hoping to do some recording over the next few days and they should be out by the end of the week.
@@IzzyIzenstain of course I have seen your latest video!! Can’t wait to be with you on your journey with her!!
Taylor has always been a strong lyricist, but her skills have gone next level as she entered her thirties. She loves poetry and you’ll find many of her current songs read like poetry. Well, her most recent album is actually called “The Tortured Poets Department”. You might like her Folklore album written during the pandemic. Check out her Long Pond Studio sessions where she discusses the meaning of the lyrics and then she records the song in the studio which is in upstate New York I believe. Folklore is the only album she does this for.
I'll check some of those out.
@@IzzyIzenstain yes- a great reaction is listening to her little talk about the song (with either Jack Antonoff and/or Aaron Dessner, her producers) followed by her singing it in the studio!
Well said. The four albums she’s released in her 30s is a massive step up lyrically.
The music is also, for the most part, more serious and often dark
I'm always nervous when people who are unfamiliar with Taylors music start off with the radio hits. Mostly because her album deep cuts are usually less poppy and can impress those who only see her as a shallow teenage hit machine. Imagine my relief when not only do you not carelessly write her off but you also LISTEN to the lyrics. So many people skim over the meaning and fail to recognise the intelligence she possesses. I love your philosophical musings and super smart insights. You're like every Swiftie's dream reactor. I'm looking forward to more Taylor videos from you. Oh and on a side note: that one line from your own song was great. I'll have to check your stuff out.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm a lyrics guy. I need to do something with that song and put it out. In the meantime, here's a playlist of the 2 originals I currently have up. More coming soon.

I think Anti Hero is bopping only in melody. The lyrics are devastating.
Izzy I love your conversations. You seem to be reaching your real identity while still young enough to do something about it. Stay as genuine as you are.
What a beautiful thing to say, Cheryl! Thank you! I'm hoping that is the case. Everything so far has just been practice. Now it's time to make some moves.
She's explored in TTPD that what she wants from her life are sometimes things conflicting with each other.
Here, we see a version of, Myself and I, where her Fame, her desire for fun and parties and her more quiet self that yearns for company and a 'normal' life clash with eachother and leaving her all alone, her insecurity being that if even she struggles to deal with all that, her loved ones won't be able to either. She fears she will end up alone and making everyone around her miserable.
Ultimately, that's what the funeral scene is about. That no matter what, she can't escape either of her 'versions', as they're all part of her, and the people surrounding her will inevitably be affected by all of them. It also shows her fear that even after death, there's no escaping the things that torment her.
The scene after is her ending up alone, but content, as she realises and finally accepts all aspects of her personality and self, and decides that even if she ends up alone, she'll be fine because at the end of the day she has herself.
Interesting stuff!
Nights are the most difficult because that’s when you turn “off” from having to be “on” during the day. Then at night you ponder life, dwell on it and realize some of the monotony in it
Been loving your reactions and insights. Ren, NF, Taylor...loving them all!
Thanks, my friend!
Long pond studio sessions
❤
Your voice is so calming
Thanks, Wazeem!
This is one of her greatest tunes. Absolutely brilliant lyrics.
The giant Taylor probably shows Taylor's struggle to go out anywhere without drawing too much attention, like when she's out with friends, people take photos of her, staring at her etc. It ruins the fun for people who are with her.
This song is ultimately about her self loathing and a track off the album "Midnights". Please more Taylor. "The Long Pond Studio Sessions" are fantastic!
Folklore is one of my favorite albums by her. The song "I Hate it Here" and "The Prophecy" are great as well. Her song writing is next level. There are courses now studying Swift's lyricism added by a few Universities.
Definitely will be doing more. Probably something from Long Pond Sessions next.
This was a great reaction with insightful commentary, thanks!
P.S. you have a lovely voice too, very calming
Thanks, Erika!
15:46 us the fans who would always defend her
I am new to the channel. There is a little philosophy and a deeper dive into the lyrics with the reactions I've watched thus far, and it is so enjoyable!
Welcome and glad glad you're enjoying it!
As I’ve see it the first Taylor represents who she really is just a genuine person with insecurities like everyone else, the second version is her stage persona that is glam and everyone has certain perspectives about, the giant Taylor represents how big her fame has become so she doesn’t feel like she fits in anymore. she can’t just do normal things like going for a walk down the road or general things that are natural for most people like going to a dinner party isn’t something she can do easily because of her fame. So the different versions of herself are constantly an issue.
It's a good take on it!
Not a fave of mine but l do love the sentiment and the video is funny... And makes you think. Taylor sees herself as the anti hero, wondering how anyone could actually like her
Again directed by Taylor.
She did have to change the video slightly as the scales scene originally read 'fat' a nod back to Taylor's ED struggles but it was said to be "fat phobic" so she removed it.
Another very thoughtful reaction ❤ Taylor's lyrics incredible personally l think she's unmatched (I'm 62 and lve heard a lot of music!)
Hi izzy! I guess in theme its a little like Hi Ren, integrating the dark and light. I know so little about sound production, but still hung up on the sound of her vocals. I di like the strength of the drums in the begining. Wish her vocals had matched that. I'm going to listen to this on my own a couple times. See what comes up.
Looking forward to my trip to UK to Secret Garden Party...Ren, Chinchilla, Romain Axisa, Ruby J and more. Facing some demons here to travel alone.
Thanks, Liza!
You can do it, Frances!
Love your reactions. Please keep them coming
Thanks! More coming soon.
Your thoughts are dope❤
I like you stopping and reflecting. People who don’t want reflection really should stick to the music video and not complain about commentary.
@@jerryfoust3860 I don't think I saw anyone who are complaining about the commentary, I however found people who do not like the pauses every 2-3 seconds.
I think it's different, it's maybe because they care about the commentary so they want reactors to have the chance to really listen to the song before pausing so the commentary (whether they end up liking it or not) is genuine, fair and worthwhile.
Glad you’re back with Taylor
Darklands reference not lost on me. Perfect album.
It is. Top 3 for me.
A very good but sad story is All Too Well by Taylor Swift . Based on a true story.
I could watch you talk about her songs all day long. Please do a lot more from Taylor's catalog.
Thanks, Virginia! Definitely planning to do a lot more. Exile Reaction, out tomorrow!
@@IzzyIzenstain can't wait
The Drum part seems to come from the song Kiss by Prince.
Thanks for the way you share your thoughts on songs.
I'll have to listen to them together! Thanks for watching!
The bathroom seen there’s a picture behind Taylor. That’s her grandmother. She was an opera singer and there’s a song called Marjorie and she used her grandma’s background vocals in the background. It’s one of my favorite songs. You have to react to that one.
I'll get to it!
I know little or nothing about Taylor’s music, bar shake it off (decent pop), but you’d want to be a troglodyte not to be aware she’s huge, and whether she likes it or not her life is highly scrutinised.
Hear she does good things for charities etc, but her life must be hard - 24/7 exposure.
This track is decent too. Fair play for reacting.
J&MC ❤.
Yeah, tough to imagine that level of fame isn't it. Cheers, Spruce!
How lovely you listened to hear Izzy’s thoughts even if Taylor is not usually your cup of tea. Giving her videos a chance I believe you will find some songs from her that resonate from you. I think you will at least appreciate her huge talent ❤
Meditation just agitated me, so whenever I can’t sleep I grab my phone and type what’s bothering me into the subject line of an email to myself so I can let it go and “worry about it when I see it in my inbox tomorrow” 😂 it genuinely helps me sleep when I’m ruminating over whatever my brain has decided is too important to risk forgetting and sleep.
It's a useful strategy. I've done it myself in the past.
Probably already said but this is a great nod to the id, ego and super ego. Great reactions 🎉 subscribed
Thanks! I don't think it had been said like that. Nice one!
Great reaction my fríend! I wish you turn on the captions or have the lyrics next to you, it will help with the analisys and you won't loose important parts.
Thanks! I may do one of those.
It’s for the video
I think u would like Taylor's latest album is TTPD. THE TORTURE POETS DEPARTMENT. 32 TRACKS DOUBLE ALBUM, Backward is 13 Taylor's favorite #.
12:47 13 is her fav number.
The drums sounds like the Queen song Radio Gaga!
You stopped the video a lot and for what it is worth, your in-depth discussion at each pause was great....no problem with it...none.
Thanks, Warren!
Lovely commentary and reaction 👏 it's not my favourite though, I think that rarely the songs she chooses to be singles and have music videos are my favourites
Maybe she's saying to the fans who always defend her: "Aren't you tired always rooting for me? I'm not perfect and have many flaws and have made a lot of mistakes..." It's my interpretation anyway
If you are not opposed to just lyric videos I'll leave some suggestions:
The last great American Dynasty
Cowboy like me❤
Seven
Mirroball
This is me trying
Tolerate it
The Lakes ❤
Peace
My tears ricochet
Ivy
From the new album:
So Long London
Sam or Chloe or Sofia or Marcus
I Hate it Here❤
Thanks, Joanna! Always great to have those hidden gems isn't it. I'll make a note of these and will probably check some out.
When she was leaving her prior record company her manager Scooter Braun purchased all her music catalog hoping to cash in on royalties from the music she had created . She wrote all those songs, I believe it consisted of 8 albums of her work.
She found out she could re-record the albums which she did with some slight changes and let her Swifties know what she intended to do which resulted in no one really purchasing the original albums. They waited for the rerelease. Her song I’d Be The Man with a must see video was about him .
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Faz algumas reações do álbum novo dela!!!
Cardigan video
Just for the video
Please react to cowboy like me by Taylor Swift 🤎
Gonna continue with Long Pond for a while, but will make a note of this one. Thanks.
@@IzzyIzenstain That song is so smooth and elegant, and the lyrics and storytelling are stunning, it's one of her best songs 🤎
That's not exactly what stoic or stoicism means.
3:34 too much time uninterrupted to hyperfocus on it.
Love your reaction but please drink some water.
I love this song but you butchered it. All you did was talk. One line of song and you're talking. It blows the song to pieces. Let a verse go by before you stop.
Do that and I will subscribe again.
Agreed
I really enjoyed his thoughtful responses and did not find it intrusive at all . . .
@@sandras-cy4cj I hear your response. The beauty of diversity is opinions. I respect yours...
Just watch a music video
Interesting topic. Our opinion on how a reaction works best is personal preference and I don't think there is a right or wrong way. I don't see the productiveness of telling a reactor how they should do it, unless the reactor is soliciting those opinions. I listen to the ones I choose and pass over the others, without criticism. And yes, Izzy hits for me ❤
I just discovered your videos and love your insights on Taylor’s music!! An immediate follow from me and currently on watching it all. 🫶🏻
Great to hear! Enjoy!
