She knows exactly the right people to call in when she has a great base of a song to help her fine tune the rest. She usually is her own primary songwriter. But anytime I’ve seen her in a writing session she is very engaged, and very much loves putting a story together in her songs. I was stuck right where my ex husband left me for FIVE YEARS. Stuck. Waiting. I feel this song in my soul. That was 13 years ago. I thought I'd never heal but I did.
I was right where my first love left me for 2 years living inside a fantasy. That relationship was like illicit affairs so these 2 songs are so special to me. I'm still recovering from the trauma......

right where you left me may be the most painful but amazing song she's ever written. RWYLM always made me think of Miss Havesham in Great Expectations, still wearing her wedding dress with the banquet mouldering on the table decades after she got jilted. How a pop song can be as on point as classic literature blows my mind. Great reaction as usual!
when you paused right before the illicit affairs bridge to talk about her pen game i was like… buddies just wait 4 more seconds for one of the most beautiful musical moments she’s ever done 😭❤️ and she does just that part at her concert
You guys are now my favorite reaction channel! It’s so rare to see men break down deep lyrics and appreciate Taylor’s music and her as an artist without feeling emasculated or embarrassed because it’s “girl’s pop music” or without making jokes about the songs the whole time and not taking them seriously. I really like how you make an effort to reflect on the songs and pause when you comment instead of talking over the music and missing things. Please keep posting song reactions in full length. I’d love to see more TS reactions, even full album reactions that you can break up into multiple videos if you want. I also love Lana del Rey and it would be cool to see you react to her music - her writing is complex and poetic like Taylor’s with a beautiful voice and cinematic production. Keep it up with the good content 😊
My favorite thing about right where you left me is the morphing of “right where YOU LEFT ME” (I’m still in the place you last saw me) to “YOU LEFT ME.” (You broke up with me) to “YOU LEFT ME no choice but to stay here forever” (I had no say in this and now I’m stuck). So many messages with three words.
Yes! Taylor reactions are the best reactions!! I love how verse one isn’t even over on RWYLM and they’re like, “can she chill?” 😂 On Folkmore, no she can’t
These are my absolute favorite albums of hers. Her writing hits so hard in these. Y’all’s reactions to it are my favorite as well. It’s almost like listening to it again for the first time and I just can’t get enough of it!!
They have been livestreaming their reactions to the Long Pond sessions on Twitch! They happen at 3am where I live, and it's not good for me but I wake up to watch them! 😝
Her penmanship has evolved so much over the years and she will never stop continuing to impress. She writes things that so many people can relate to but have never been able to put in words
The tension she builds by slowing down the tempo and the music dropping out, makes me feel the moment of the breakup so deeply. When she says I could feel the mascara run, I always cry bc you feel that moment with her.
Y’all make me so happy to hear Ashton saying folklore album review might be 4 hours 😂😭 PLEASE MAKE IT 4 HOURS. We will watch all of it and probably want an encore 🤷🏽♀️ lol no the longer the better because I hate seeing people react to mothers album and the time will be like 20 minutes. Excuse me they skipped half the album wtf lol I hate when album reviews are short and they skip a lot of it it’s silly. Illicit affairs - is about cheating and how damaging it is to the relationship and to the people involved. It brings up the fact that all the gaslighting and lies ended up making the person who got cheated on feeling crazy and betrayed over and over. RWYLM - A relationship that felt like "the one" for the girl, yet it was a normal relationship that died for the man. She is left there wondering how and where it all went, and she hopes and thinks about how she does not understand why he left her there. For her it was perfect and though years went on, she stayed wanting it and even brought up the fact she would wait there forever, and if he came back, she would be right where he left her.
Right where you left me….listened to that on repeat after my mom passed away. She always chose men and substances over me, but I’m paralyzed & stuck in the day she died. It’s been almost 2 years.
I would like a Getaway Car and Dancing with Our Hands Tied reaction. Also, if you’re planning on reacting to other artists, I would recommend Sabrina Carpenter’s album “emails I can’t send”. It’s amazing and one of my favorite albums to listen to
Yaaaaasss!!! I'm so happy that you guys highlighted the fact that Right Where You Left Me also has a strong metaphorical/figurative story. The song doesn't have to mean that she physically never moved on. It just meant that she couldn't emotionally get past that moment. This song is one of my very favourite of all TS songs. The rhythm is relentless, but so beautifully driving. Did you notice that the music also almost completely faded out when she starts describing the scene from the first person perspective? Sooooooo good!!! I also have always felt with this song that she is also talking about the impact of a moment like that can have on who you are as a human being from that point on. It's almost like she is saying that the person she was before the breakup is stuck there. That the moment was so traumatic to her self-worth that she knows that she will never be the person she was back then ever again. I'm LOVING the reactions and your discussions and interactions! Thanks guys 😊
It's funny how you commented on the pen she uses to write, and I know you meant the literal ones, but she did reveal how she labels her lyrics based on metaphorical pens she uses to write them: Quill Lyrics, Fountain Pen Lyrics, and Glitter Gel Pen Lyrics. She described Quill Lyrics as lyrics that happen "if the words and phrasings are antiquated, if I was inspired to write it after reading Charlotte Brontë or after watching a movie where everyone is wearing poet shirts and corsets" quoting Ivy from Evermore as an example (but Illicit Affairs is an example as well, with all those big words). "Fountain pen style means a modern storyline or references, with a poetic twist, [...] Taking a common phrase and flipping its meaning... the songs I categorize in this style sound like confessions scribbled and sealed in an envelope, but too brutally honest to ever send", and the example she used was All Too Well. Then she described Glitter Gel Pen Lyrics as "frivolous, carefree, bouncy, syncopated perfectly to the beat" citing Shake It Off as an example.
This is Taylor taking a snapshot of a feeling and exploring it, like she’s said before that she likes to do. Her intelligence is beyond anything or anyone I’ve ever known. Loved your reaction. Thanks for doing this.💜 Keep shining my guys✨
I love how much you analyze the songs and the different aspects of each song, from the lyrics to the tempo. I think you need to react to 'the lakes' off of folklore!
I am so glad I found you guys. I really enjoy your reactions. RWYLM is one of my favs. I like how it's not a slow song because it represents how everybody moves on but she doesn't. Taylor is so good in describing feelings and situations that it puts you right there. And when the music slows downs and she is singing about the moment.... ugh, it's SOOO good. :))))))
Your genuine reactions never fail to impress me. Love this one! As a Swiftie, I've never given right where you left me a chance but reading the lyrics and listening to your breakdown has change my mind. Thank you for being authentic and open to new music. It's so refreshing & inspiring. P.S. love your sports references in your videos (damn right that pen needs to be in the hall of fame 😂). Keep killing it guys!!!
You guys HAVE to watch the live performance of illicit affairs from the Eras Tour. She only performs the bridge but it’s SOOOO powerful and was by far one of the most emotionally intense performances in the tour.
The unrelenting pace and repeating motif of RWYLM mirror the feeling of knowing the world and the rest of your life are moving by without you, and the quiet panic that comes with that but being completely unable to snap out of it even if you want to. The way she sings "Help", in an almost detached way...the speaker is scared and wants to move on, but doesnt know how, to the point that she's become resigned to staying in that place forever, and she's no longer sure anymore if it's willingly or not.
Your reactions bring me such joy. Your appreciation of her song writing is so genuine and every time I’m just like “they totally get it!!” Love you guys!
please please remember that we always know you guys are doing the best you can !! we love when you react to taylor’s music BUT we enjoy your other content as well ! keep killing it as always, much love
Hey, I’m from Brazil and I’m so glad that I found you guys, finally I found people who REALLY GET IT, I just saw almost all of your videos cause it’s just amazing see how you guys really get into Taylor lyrics, and its so hard to see people (out of the fandom) who really appreciate the fact that she can write and tell us stories with a high level of description that can make us feel like we are listening a musical book, thank you guys for this, I’m really happy to see people like you who don’t look like the typo who will like and appreciate the artist that Taylor is. After write this bible I’ll back to the videos that I’m seeing all the afternoon 😅❤
The way Taylor can capture the pleasure and pain that keeps your tunnel vision within the affair is why her song writing ability will be timeless. I love these reactions❤
I really like this combination. Illicit affaires and RWYLM !!! right where you left me is the kinda song that you figure it out when you hear the bridge because she tell the best part of the story there . She did this in Champaign problems and getaway car and so many other songs. This woman obsessed with bridge!!!! It's like she complete the whole story in bridge and every other thing you heard start to make sense. And this song can be a perspective of her personal life when she wrote Red Album, when she was young (23,24)and heartbroken (I mean the time she wrote all too well). She definitely moved on from that situation but this song explains what would happen if she does not move on !!! She captured the feelings really good . I enjoyed watching you guys. Hope to see you soon. And I love to see your reaction to the lakes and happiness ❤️
And also in RWYLM where she’s says “if you ever think you got it wrong I’m right where you left me” like even after all that time if he changes his mind and went back to her SHE WOULD LET HIM
Hey 😊 so clandestine means doomed to fail, dwindling means something that slowly starts to descend or become slower and mercurial means something that is extremely delicate and prone to change. So you guys were on the nose saying she just describes this affair as something delicate that gradually looses intensity and is bound to just explode at any moment. Love your reaction videos!!

Amazing!!!! I love illicit affairs!!! But I'll say it again, when you get to Evermore- No Body, No Crime (ft Haim) is FLAWLESS!! Her story telling in that song is so amazing, she paints a picture so easily it almost hurts. Keep it up, Im glad to see you guys back!!!
I really appreciate how you have elevated my appreciation of Taylor Swift’s songwriting. I have been a fan of her work but you have both given me clear reasons why. Thank you.
I’m Brazilian and have been working as a ESL teacher for ages and “mercurial” is a world I’ve only discovered like last year and it’s already one of my new favourites
Loved this reaction! I think you guys are going to really really love the evermore album! I'm excited to see more evermore content, there are some absolute masterpieces on that album. I lovedddd what you said about the tempo. One song that always amazes me in terms of the way she was able to match the tempo to the emotion/story is 'The Moment I Knew'... the chorus absolutely feels like it is in slow motion.
she has been making songs with one of her best friend jack antanoff (he is a producer) since 1989 and during the pandemic she met her collaborator soulmate Aaron dessner who is a member of a band called the national, she is a fan of them and during pandemic she asked aaron to work with her and help produce and write songs since then they have been serving together, im telling this bc yall said the production makes u wanna dance but its so devastating thats the magic of jack and aaron, we seriously love love love them, yk the tracks gonna be a banger of aaron is in it just pure magic. Love yalls reaction, as a lyrics based person ii love that you all breakdown lyrics in such a beautiful manner.
Awww i love illicit affairs. Its probably one of my top favorite songs on Folklore. It reminds me of a bad relationship where its very secretive and one person may want it more then the other, but in really it was never meant to be real and see the light of day.
I love you two so much, this is shameless love and support. I don’t even have a reason to post this review, I’m just here (before I leave other 100k reviews during the video) that I’m 34 and in the two months or less that I’ve started following u (mind u I don’t even follow reaction channels) it’s like you two have become my children my baby boys
i feel like "a dwindling mercurial high" could be a metaphor for how, like the element mercury, the promises made in this type of clandestine relationship are liquid, that is, volatile. they do not last because there is no way to predict constancy in human actions, even more so in illicit cases. That's why "take the words for what they are", because they are not solid.
Right where you left is a lyrical masterpiece, I mean she basically wrote a whole song out of the line "time won't fly it's like i'm paralyzed by it"😢
I truly hate how perfect her mind is...where does all this genius come from?!!
Damn, you’re right…
I try to find my old self again, but I’m still trying to find it😢

Congrats on all the recognition you guys been getting! It is more than well deserved, take care! ❤
Well Deserved
Illicit Affairs is my favorite song on Folklore. She sings the bridge of it in her Eras Tour. It is amazing live! ❤
They really are folklore boys
when you paused right before the illicit affairs bridge to talk about her pen game i was like… buddies just wait 4 more seconds for one of the most beautiful musical moments she’s ever done 😭❤️ and she does just that part at her concert
I love how verse one isn’t even over on RWYLM and they’re like, “can she chill?” 😂
On Folkmore, no she can’t
These are my absolute favorite albums of hers. Her writing hits so hard in these.
Y’all’s reactions to it are my favorite as well. It’s almost like listening to it again for the first time and I just can’t get enough of it!!
Omg it is almost like listening to it for the first time again! You are so right! Wow. And how lucky we are to get to experience that! 💕
@@maddyp7450 absolutely!! ❤️❤️
You should check out the Long Pond live session. TS not only sounds amazing, she talks about each song performed.
DEFINITELY.
YESSS
YEEEEEEES
They have been livestreaming their reactions to the Long Pond sessions on Twitch! They happen at 3am where I live, and it's not good for me but I wake up to watch them! 😝
the reactions stay on twitch up until 24 hours after they've been uploaded, i lost the last one and watched it in the morning after@@maddyp7450
Her penmanship has evolved so much over the years and she will never stop continuing to impress. She writes things that so many people can relate to but have never been able to put in words
ILLICIT AFFAIRS!!
such an underrated song. I LOVE this song and your feelings towards it. Same. I listened to it on repeat when it first came out.
The tension she builds by slowing down the tempo and the music dropping out, makes me feel the moment of the breakup so deeply. When she says I could feel the mascara run, I always cry bc you feel that moment with her.
Y’all make me so happy to hear Ashton saying folklore album review might be 4 hours 😂😭
PLEASE MAKE IT 4 HOURS.
You guys are the best at reviewing and reacting I’ve been waiting for another video thank you so much!!
That’s also so awesome you guys are getting emails about deals with hopefully organizations and other real deal things you deserve it!!
Take it and run with it!! 🎉
Yep, do it! 4 hours, no problem, l'll watch every minute of Folklore and Evermore.
DAMN...FACTS...as Ashton would say...before video even started 250 people waiting... 144 likes...41 comments...AND the video hasn't even started yet!!!! DUDES....YOU ARE GOOD!
Illicit Affairs is from the perspective of the "other woman"
right@@leahdavis9434
Dude FACTS. THIS IS ON POINT
Right where you left me….listened to that on repeat after my mom passed away. She always chose men and substances over me, but I’m paralyzed & stuck in the day she died. It’s been almost 2 years.
Coincidentally, I was also 23 when she died.
“She’s still 23, inside her fantasy, how it was supposed to be.”
Poor darling ❤️ I’m glad that Taylor’s music helps you with connecting with your feelings.
I hope you can move on one day. It's okay to feel all the feelings.
Hey you - I’m sending you a lot of love!
Hey I thought of my mom too! I’m 22 now and she died 5 years ago and I think of her during this song not a relationship. We will heal 💝
I would like a Getaway Car and Dancing with Our Hands Tied reaction. Also, if you’re planning on reacting to other artists, I would recommend Sabrina Carpenter’s album “emails I can’t send”. It’s amazing and one of my favorite albums to listen to
Oh yeah, Getaway Car is a must! :D
Thanks for doing this.💜
Keep shining my guys✨
ILLICIT AFFAIRS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE!!!! THANKS FOR ACKNOWLEDGING THE MASTERPIECE IT IS
Just wanna make sure you guys know, we will be very okay with hours long TS album reaction videos 🤌🙏🫡
DO DAYLIGHT BY TAYLOR SWIFT AND MATILDA BY HARRY STYLES PLEASE 🙏 ♥️
They need to do "Red" and "Daylight" in the same video, bc they complement each other, this would be perfeccct
Ya'll should definitely react to the august/illicit affairs mashup performance she does on the eras tour. it's pretty emotional.
Omg finally.. I’ve been checking DAILY for a new taylor swift reaction video!
I love how much you analyze the songs and the different aspects of each song, from the lyrics to the tempo.
I think you need to react to 'the lakes' off of folklore!
I can’t wait for you guys to react to epiphany. I always bawl my eyes out to it. You can hear the world’s pain in it.
I’ve sincerely enjoyed your twos reactions and first listens to Taylor. She’s so iconic, I’m so happy to re-experience these songs with you
Same!
The live bridge of illicit affairs is a brutally emotional performance.
Your appreciation of her song writing is so genuine and every time I’m just like “they totally get it!!” Love you guys!
it's my favorite thing ever when the lyrics go so hard they dap each other up
I totally agree, her pen should be put in a museum ☺️
Folklore and Evermore are *still* two of my favorite albums, specifically because of all the allegories PACKED into them! 😍
Illicit Affairs is one of my all time favorite TS song.
please please remember that we always know you guys are doing the best you can !! we love when you react to taylor’s music BUT we enjoy your other content as well ! keep killing it as always, much love
"Right where you left me" is an absolutely incredible and heartbreaking song.... Taylor is a genius
Im so ready for the reaction! 🫶 best vibes from Peru 🌼
These 2 songs in one video is immaculate. ✨ They both cut so deep. We needed that.
i get so excited whenever i see that you guys post a new taylor video
I will be seated for this. Can’t wait!
Don’t call me KID!!!!!
🎤🎵🎶
Don’t call me BABY!!!
I love these reactions❤
you guys should totally react to "the last time" , it's one of taylors most vivid and well written songs in my opinion :)
Can't wait for a full on album reaction. Taylor is the song writer of our generation.
Love your reaction videos!!
you guys have no idea how many times i watched your videos, especially this one, best of the best track in folkemore universe
i love your guys's reactions and I appreciate the whole "im not a scholar" because the majority of us aren't but we can still relate to the message. I love Darriel's insight so much too. dude is wise af
OH IM SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! PLEASE DO TOLERATE IT NEXT
“Tolerate It” is hard to listen to now. It feels like foreshadowing.
I love your videos so much. You're my comfort zone and you always put a smile on my face. You deserve all the success you are having. Thank you guys! Love from Italy❤️
“Comfort zone” is such a great way to describe this channel
Would love to see you guys react to Marjorie. It's my favorite song of hers and such a beautiful, emotional piece of music.
Just read y’all’s interview with Esquire and just want yall to know how amazing your videos are!! Been watching since the beginning and can’t believe how far yall have come 💕
I would like you close your eyes and pick up a Taylor song and then you do your reaction on that, cause her discography is insane and endless so maybe there will be songs people will never recommend to you and they are underrated but gold
This is a perfect idea!
Yes! Such a good idea
I need the illicit affairs eras tour version! It’s just so intense
You guys are magic, it is awesome to see 2 guys dissect Taylor's music.
You guys are young but so smart at understanding her lyrics and that is why you have become one of the beloved reactors to Taylors music.
I really appreciate how you have elevated my appreciation of Taylor Swift’s songwriting. I have been a fan of her work but you have both given me clear reasons why. Thank you.
I’m Brazilian and have been working as a ESL teacher for ages and “mercurial” is a world I’ve only discovered like last year and it’s already one of my new favourites
another very well-done reaction. you guys are getting really good. folklore and evermore are simply great albums.
Queen of sad bops!!!
Taylor is such a poetic writer like... I never stop being blown away by her.
"Wanna dance to but is heartbreaking" is HITS DIFFERENT!! Please listen to HITS DIFFERENT from Midnights Album!
i feel like "a dwindling mercurial high" could be a metaphor for how, like the element mercury, the promises made in this type of clandestine relationship are liquid, that is, volatile. they do not last because there is no way to predict constancy in human actions, even more so in illicit cases. That's why "take the words for what they are", because they are not solid.
I’m so happy you guys covered right where you left me!!!
Illicit affairs was my most played track 2021. Honestly played it all day every day for MONTHS.
I just love your reactions. You really engage with the songs and it’s wonderful.
I just downloaded Twitch to hopefully get the chance to watch a livestream. Are your old livestreams recorded anywhere?
Loved these reactions they’re two of my favs. Happy to hear you’re gonna do Marjorie at some point it’s a beautiful sad song !!
Yeah, ILLICIT AFFAIRS is a pure poetry 🤍
