Pearl dark grey looks best hands down, as it matches their arms and legs. But as mentioned it’s way too expensive for army building.. So between black and silver, the silver win because it has more variety, and currently easiest to buy in bulk from lego itself. Also furthermore we need to consider the armor! Where some pieces such as the me shoulder only comes in the silver color
I built a 1000 mini army using dark pearl grey so you can guess that I didn’t use it when building my black falcons and I built it a few years ago when it was still like $.50 a chestplates currently I’m using light blueish Gray and silver for my lion knights
Fun fact: In real life, medieval people painted bad quality armours in black to not see the defects

I use black helmets/weapons for Black Falcons, flat silver for Lion Knights, and Pearl Dark Gray for the Raven Knights. Those are my preferences. But I agree pearl dark gray would also look good on the Black Falcons, but as you say those are super expensive to get.
Way too expensive! I have a fairly small Black Falcon army so it works for me personally. PDG looks amazing on the Black Ravens. I'm also considering using dark red turbans for a few of my black ravens as I think it would match nicely with their gloves.
Flat silver is pretty good
I like black and silver. Black is my favorite but silver looked really good in the Blacksmith set

Yes, Pearl Dark Gray looks very good on the Falcons, but my Pearl Dark Gray armour pieces are already reserved for my growing Green Dragon Army, so my falcons will have to make due with black helmets.
Definitely using dark pearl grey for my favorite figures, I would suggest you to check pick a brick for the new shoulder pads armour in dark peral grey, they are an amazing match for the crusader-style helmet. Still I think black falcons are the only faction which work well with both dark pearl and flat silver, and I like to have them mixed to increase variety and give more individuality to the figures.
I love both of the shoulder armors available in pdg on pab. I use them for both black falcons and the raven knights.

I have my standard knights wear the silver helmets with the eye slits and shoulder guards, and the horsemen wear the same thing but with black helmets and a plume, and my archers get the nasal helmets on black

Mine wear silver at present, but have been pondering a switch to pearl dark grey or black. I agree with you that pearl dark grey feels the most natural. However, I am also drawn to black by the idea of using some of the black Falcon breast plate armour from the 10223 joust set. It’s hard to decide!😅
That armor piece is amazing! I think using a mix of pdg and black would look great if you have a decent sized army.
Personally silver or pearl dark grey for me I think all of them look decent but the silver makes them pop and between my raven knights my bear knights and green dragon knights I’d rather prioritise those pieces for them
Black armour suits them the best, sure the chestplates dont come in black but you can compensate by giving them the bigger black round shields
While i love the pearl dark sm the silver aldo just does something for ke with the tiny bit on contrast it adds. Also u have alot more variety in the shoulder pads and helmets u can pick between then so u get both the bulk buying cheaper and more customization
Waiting rn for some black falcons o designed n orders from lego, they alot more individual and not army bulding but still fun
I'm a big fan of the full-black color scheme. This includes the swords and shield material. The idea of the Black Falcons dawning onyx or obsidian weapons is very cool imo. In reality, it'd probably be obsidian since onyx armor and weapons would be quite heavy. I think gunmetal grey would fit the Dragon Knights better. That is, if they ever make a return.
Honestly I use my colors for Rankings, and positioning, like my foot soldiers will use the silver nasal guard, while my archers use the black one, but if a foot soldier was high enough rank he might get a black helmet as well, wear as an achier of higher rank would get one of the titanium ones you showed.
If dark pearl grey comes out on pick a brick, I’ll switch. Silver till then
I'd absolutely love to see a return of Castle, but I'd want it to be fantasy Castle and not basic Castle. I think fantasy Castle had the most interesting sets and minifigures and the most interesting play potential. Also, I love fantasy much more than griddy reality, and I'm sure Lego agrees given they can sell even more dragons and giant mech-like figures in the form of a giant troll as part of the troll faction, or even an absurdly mutated dwarf. The possibilities are endless with fantasy Castle, and I believe it'll grab a wider audience as well.
Fantasy era was my childhood theme and in my opinion had some of the most unique builds and fun techniques out of all the castle subthemes.

Pearl gray/metallic. Looks the best. I use it for my Black Falcons. Highly recommend it. Now, I’m not an army builder so it’s not to expensive for me because of that. I have 10 figures designed. Each an individual face and look.
Have mine in dark pearl gray. Bought most of mine off of Bricklink. Probably have about 50-60 now-probably more.
Great video. I agree that PDG is the best look, I also think that's what the black color in the 80's was more or less supposed to resemble; it was the right choice for LEGO to remake them with PDG accents. My Falcons currently wear silver, because it's more affordable than PDG and looks way better than black.
A suggestion for your next video: maybe turn the background music down a bit, I found it distracting from 0:45 onward. The choice of music is great, though.
You nailed it! I think the modern fig is a great evolution to what the the original 80's fig was trying to do at the time. I will for sure be lowering the music's volume in upcoming videos. I'm still not very used to doing voice overs but i hope the quality will improve as new videos come out.

I do agree that they should have the dark metal colour but I go with black as it is the cheapest and it looks good on them

pearl dark gray is my fave for the BF. I just got a bunch of shoulder armor for them from PaB in that color and can't wait to get them. but they're not best sellers so they ship from Antarctica.
With colour balances on a model - If going silver armour, it would be best to swap the black hands for a light grey or yellow pair of hands.
I like using black for them from pab since it’s cost effective but I try to use pearl dark grey open faced helms from extra kingdoms dragon knights I get from chess sets for the crossbow men

I feel pearl dark gray is the updated version of the black.

Pearl dark grey is easily the best for me but black is the next best thing, without a shadow of a doubt. Silver just looks that much worse to me.
Mettalic silver is the best imo
The inconsistency does feel weird. Gunmetal grey definitely looks best. That said, I want to use black to match the classic figures, but they don’t make the right armor piece in black. Plus, it doesn’t match the pearl dark drey arms and legs as well as pearl dark grey armor and helmets. And then there’s silver, which looks great and was nice initially but frankly, doesn’t compare to black or gunmetal.

honestly the viking helmets were actually used by everyone, and if you dont like the viking helmet, there is a knight of ren who had a almost viking helmet but cooler in some ways
My person opinion is..
Pearl Dark Grey is the best match, matches the arms and legs, so it just works!
However, black offers the best compliment to me. It compliments the dark pearl grey of the arms and legs, goes with the hands, and it just makes the figure overall more striking.
The black does compliment them really well. I'm just not a fan of how shiny/plastic they look compared to the rest of the fig
Sure Pearl Dark Grey looks great, but it isn't worth the price. So I go with Black.
Lego castle should start with a lineup of remakes for 2024, and keep the line as a "remake/reimagination" line. Do set 6066 in the same style they did the gift with purchase. For about 60/70 euros. And do 6077 the same justice.
Other than that the falcon fortress 6074 and do the Inn as well as other wall piece sets with the new clip system. And they would make a huge city. Add a market set and perhaps a separate windmill as well as maybe a house or 2 in medieval style and you got an awesome lineup.
This does sound like a cool idea but personally i hope that if they do make a new wave of castle sets they are based around entirely new factions. I think the nostalgic sets work better as one offs (lion knights castle, forestmen hideout, majistos house).
It's enough to keep fans that grew up in the 80s & 90s happy while still pulling in other fans without the nostalgia. Especially if they want to capture their core demographic of kids 8-12 they are probably going to go with the model of releasing a animated show to go along with the theme.
@@Goldfyre My take is that they should do new Castle sets, but using the old factions. There are already so many established factions; all the archetypal roles are filled three times over! I don't think there's any need to add more.
I'm going to be honest. I've been wanting to order some for a while now and I'm facing hard decision paralysis right now
Dark pearl is the ideal scheme, but too expensive with little variety in pieces. Silver is perfect overall for now. Sadly, Lego will never return to full yearly ranges of fantasy/castle/space/pirate themes, so not to compete long term with it's Juggernaut IP, Ninjago and also it's licensed themes. Other in-house themes like Dreamzzz, Chima, are all designed with a expiry day as catalogue fillers so to not compete with any licensed theme. Lego well knows of the reality that a parent would rather buy for their kid a affordable space/fantasy set over a expensive Star Wars / Harry Potter of the same piece count.

Maybe! but honestly i think the flat silver armor looks great on the lions. I haven't tried any other colors though

Shiny black/ or gray or dark silver ? I like the new red and silver black falcon knights and I'd use them as 3 things the royal guards and both archers bow and crossbow

Personally black falcons in plain silver is really tacky, if you have pearl dark gray use that, though it is a pain yea. I’ve found that if you have a collection of green dragons who use that in sets you can steal those for your black falcons, and green dragons look great with just normal black.
Yeah i raided my green dragons for all their pdg parts lol. I've got them split between my ravens and falcons now
Pearl dark gray is absolutely the best but it's also by far the hardest to get, when i bought mine in pick a brick they weren't even available
FIngers crossed some new sets will come with pearl dark gray so we can get them from pick a brick!

Honestly, I prefer black for their armor. The pearl dark gray just isn't dark enough to give that same dramatic contrast, but black just makes the color scheme so much more striking.
And yes, we definitely need a proper Castle line! It's always been my favorite theme, but I can't keep buying these huge collectable sets. Give me a bunch of small Castle sets in the $20-$50 price range to choose from, please! (And while we're at it, bring back some of the other 90s LEGO themes - maybe some Space themes like M-Tron, Blacktron, and Spyrius!)

I would choose the dark grey too for falcons. Black looks good too, but I’d love to see Black Knights/ Dragon Masters get a modern update and these would NEED black helmets. Silver for Lions, pearl grey for Falcons and black for Dragons would make all the factions stand out.
I'm not a big classic castle fan but I absolutely love the dragon masters! Hopefully we'll see one come with the rumored Majisto GWP.

Pearl Dark Gray hands down!!! Black doesn’t even look good with the new Black Falcons. And on a side note, the new Lion Knights look best with the metallic sliver from the 2007-2013 time period rather than the Pearl light gray or flat silver.

@@Goldfyre You can get the metallic silver helms on pab. The color is called silver ink on pab for some weird reason. The part name on pab is MINI KNIGHTS HELMET "NO. 1000". I accidentally ordered the nasal helm in that color instead of flat silver. Hope this info helps!

In my opinion they are called Black Falcons for a reason…Armor should be black.
My Black Falcons wear all three.
Peral is the armys intend default.
Silver is when they raid it, or when its super fresh. So only the biggest show offs or noob wear it.
Black are painted helms are for people who are into fashion and them painted black. Theses Knight's are the most flashy when it comes to sliver trim on black.
Nice! I like the lore you added to your black falcons. I think its probably more "realistic" to mix and match colors and armors anyways.
@@Goldfyre For a bit of context my black falcons are shows and a bit war hungry. With a very small pitch of Vikings.
Like their building have a small Viking feel. But they don't sail long boats.
And are the most evil factions while still being a "good faction". so their the only good faction for it to be common.
@@Hot_SpicyGrill I've got a similar headcannon for them. In my world they are from the north (scandinavian analog) and have kicked out their fellow northmen through conquest and war.
@@Goldfyre Mine have that Viking themed stuff, where at frist the spoils of war. They where always a war culture so theses early conquest where celebrated and are the most cherished
These spoil came from the conquest of orcs/trolls. Who are Viking themed, and just flat out fight normal human Vikings.
The idea of them Viking themed is from the Eagle lady. Who’s a clear reference to brave. So I have her as my reluctant princess.
