  • Professional chef instructor Frank Proto and experienced home cook Daniel are trading recipes and whipping up some ice cream sundaes. We set Daniel up with an over-the-top $178 worth of ingredients and Frank's recipe while sending just 12 bucks worth of goods back to our esteemed expert. As is customary, food scientist Rose dialed in to assist Daniel in achieving Frank’s vision. How did his skills stack up against Frank's decadent banana split recipe? What tricks can Frank break out to improvise a sundae up to his standards?

    My sundae:
Homemade brownies as a base, ice cream (flavor may vary depending on my mood), and topped with whipped cream, macerated strawberries, and mini chocolate chips. Maybe toasted sliced almonds as well.

I know Daniel wouldn’t be selecting those level 1 ingredients if this was 4 levels! It’s so interesting to see the cross between this series and 4 levels. Looks like he enjoys the more complex cooking here

Frank missed an opportunity with the canned cherries. They are in juice. Maybe mix a little of that juice with the melted ice cream for a cherry syrup? Or just reduce it into a simple syrup? Great episode! Lots of ideas! Had to eat some ice cream while I watched it!

From one of the earlier videos Frank worked at Disney World, serving ice cream (and eating pot pies). He must have had a lot of fun with this one!

I kind of want to see my mom on this thing. My mom is a really good home cook like I find it fascinating that when you re-create her food, it taste just as good as when she first made it.
