    TRU GLO TFX PRO sights require equal space between the front post and the sides of the rear notch but the tops of the dots are to be flush/aligned, not the tops of the front post and the rear notch. The top of the front post is going to be a little lower then the rear notch.✌🏽

    Truglo TFO sights are the only way to go. Tritium and fiber optic combined they work great day AND night.

      You mean TFO Pro's right? They're not the best day sights, they're not the best night sights, but overall, they're the best sights on the market.

      @@thebusterdog6358 the pro's have the colored rim around the fiber optic if you know what I mean the regular TFO's dont. The one's I have seen show good in the day just as good as any fiber optic and they glow brighter than hell at night

    I go for the tritium close-range sights because if I'm pulling my pistol it's going to be within a shorter distance. Anything long range is just assassination, especially with a pistol.

      Brilliant article. Again a vital lesson learned. My soon to arrive Dan Wesson 1911A2 (an updated version of the venerable M1911A1) is soon to arrive. Not sure about the upgraded sights, but both of your features will certainly help if i have a need to change them. Thanks again, Graham.

    Totally agree, but waisted money on cheap fiber optic sights and the back is an 1/8 of an inch or more higher than front fiber so have to hold really low or shoot 6-10 Inches high depending on distance

    How about those mechanical calipers? what brand are they? or where did you get them? kind of hard to knock those out of calibration. I bought a set with the analog dial, and they wont read the same thing twice, ever. I guess I should've bought the 2 or 300 dollar set of Mitutoyo, but still, what you have there wont get knocked out of calibration unless you bend or drop or do something harsh to them. Please let me know if you see this, Thanks.

    This video is accurate, but too fast. Benny Hill has to slow down on this one. Also, for home defense, one should consider mounting a bright light to ID the target (Grandma). Another possibility is a laser. I have found that even the best night sights can be hard to see if it is not pitch dark and/or you have not light adapted. I think that Wayne Novak is right; at normal combat ranges a black rear and bright Tritium front sight is the most practical night and day combination. Also, viewers should be reminded that green Tritium is brightest and can be surrounded by the daytime color ring of your choice.

    • @82luft49
      @82luft49 7 років тому +1

      rcrogers6, go ahead and turn the gun's light on to to identify the threat. Once on, you now become the target and murdered where you stand. Better to throw a every day common flashlight on the floor outlining the silhouette(s) and commence firing. It's an old trick, but one that will save your life.

  • @winstonsmiths2449

    Just so they can sell you more stuff...
    At "combat range" you will not be getting good sight alignment, you will be pointing the pistol at your target and acquire better picture after you have started your defense. Not shooting blindly or wildly, but it is relatively easy to hit a man-size target at up to 10 yards distance. The 3-dot sights help to get your shots in the funnel needed to hit your target. Better sight alignment if you have time. Blacked out rear sights do not account for elevation and windage. If you confuse the dots, you need more training.

      @GBGuns  Рік тому

      Yes, those came out after this video was made, but you're right about the concept. I'm not a fan of XS for target shooting, but for quick and easy "get it on the target" they're great.

    • @dannymccraw4841
      @dannymccraw4841 Рік тому

      @@GBGuns I’m curious as to why you say that? To me they are far more accurate than trying to set a front blade or notch between a much larger u notch and set at equal distance between, 🤷‍♂️ fyi I’m a bigger proponent of reflex sights (dots) as my old eyes have a hard time with the rear sight and especially only black ones.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  Рік тому

      @@dannymccraw4841 The XS sights are excellent for getting on target quickly, general defensive shots, but are very difficult to make a precis sight picture with. Yes, you CAN group with them, but more from holding the gun in the same position than from being able to realign and hit the same spot.

    Not all pistols use the same aiming profile. Some are set to aim from the edges, while others are set to put the dot of the sight, right over the spot your wanting to aim for. And others are even more different. You can't sum up all pistol sights into only one sight profile. Or you'll never hit your target when shooting guns of a different aiming profile.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  3 роки тому

      As someone who has reviewed and shot hundreds of different pistols I disagree. It's not the pistol, it's the sights. Some of them are smartly made, some of them are simply made to sell.

    • @TrueSighted
      @TrueSighted 3 роки тому

      @@GBGuns I have in my collection a PX4, if I were to aim that gun using an alignment like suggested, I would never hit the spot I am aiming. Is this because the sight is off? No it's because the factory alignment for that sight profile is set so that it hits where that dot is, rather than the top edge. If I didn't know that, and figured all guns were set up with the same profile, I'd think it was something I was doing, or a factory error, as to why the gun was shooting places other than where I was aiming. But in truth, the problem would be that they were never intended to be shot with the top edge as the focus.
      Other guns are different. There is more to it than that. Just saying.

      True Sightd has a point based on different factory holds. The sigs are set up to overlay the front sight dot. That 'combat hold' is for a short range when it's not covering most of the target.

    Night sights suck. They only work when it’s completely dark, think at this point you couldn’t even see the threat so why shoot.
