The draken truly is amazing. The fact its first flight was in 1955 is incredible, and even today in 2021 it still looks thoroughly modern I can't say that about any other aircraft made by the US or Soviets during that same time period, most stuff that flew in 1955 looks very antiquated today.
generally speaking whenever SAAB has introduced a plane it has been ahead of its time and quite dominating, this is especially true for the early jets (with A21 being the exception, but this is just a prop plane that was given a jet engine). Originally Gaijin actually specifically said they would not add sweden to the game because the swedish jets would be way too overpowered compared to other jets of the same era, the original cut off date was therefore put just before draken. but we all know how that went, gaijin changed their plans, added sweden, and decided to make almost every single swedish tank and plane underperform compared to publically available real performance stats of the vehicles. this is especially true for the swedish airplanes, where ripspeeds in game can be several hundred kmh slower than airframe damage speeds irl. gaijin solved it by just purposely making every single swedish vehicle unrealistically bad.

We had a lot of planes in those days but not many military air bases. All vehicles was designed to take cover in the Swedish woods. The narrow off road trucks is an example. A fun fact about almost all Swedish vehicles etc. is that they were and are built for defence. For example, the strf 103 or tank S is specificly designed for low profile, high frontal defence in form of steep angle and a revesed top speed of 50 k/ph. The Gotland class submarines have been debated about for their range due to the fact that they are powered by kerosene, however, they are very high-tech and probably THE most silent submarine as of now, and though the have a limited torpedo amount, it is enough to disable most ships if nessesary.

I think you forgot something important, or rather interesting, regarding the SAAB 21. It was the second aircraft equipped with an ejection seat at it's launch in 1943, the first beeing the He 219. The placement of the propeller necessitated a way for the pilot to escape the aircraft if needed, and an ejection seat was the only way possible to see to that.
SAAB A great engineering, automotive and aviation company. Innovative and with incredibly high standards in build quality. The Americans could certainly learn a thing or two from them thesedays
The Draken F-35 could fly unbelievable slow. I came home from work and saw just at the brow of a very low hill and the back of my garden a Draken F-35 came flying so low and so slow that the pilot waved to me and I could see the aircraft's exhaust. And then in a flash it was gone. Denmark had 50 F-35 and used them in the fighter-bomber roll.

Favourite Saabs? The Saab 105 series, and the Saab 21. Oh and the Saab 9000 - no, wait a minute, that's a car! A very nice car, and at the time the safest car on the road, with more airbags and side protection beams than you could shake a stick at. The Swedes also made an excellent piano - the Nordiska - now sadly made in China and nowhere near as good as the proper Swedish made ones...

A Swedish fighter you didn't mention, because it was the only one not designed and developed by Saab, would be the FFVS J22. And the JAS 39 Gripen, off course.
I really love the swedish B18B bomber. It has a decent climb rate and can defend itself really good. Also sometimes when you get slightly downtiered, you can one- hit bases with its 600kg bombs. I used it to get my first Jet in War Thunder.
I think to this day I’ll always rely on the b18. Even at higher brs it’s crazy maneuverability as a bomber and decent bomb load will forever keep it close to my roster.
It's not just "why not" as to why Draken was designed to take off and land on Swedish public roads. Our cold war strategy was based on a decentralised, "total war" kind of setup where planes where to be stored and hidden just about everywhere. Doing the conscription service "att göra lumpen" was mandatory and created a mass of small, well trained and cooperative potential guerilla who would hide in the woods and do raids if our main lines of defence and the country had fallen. Of course, we had a strong coastal defence (which was also based upon how difficult it is to navigate the Swedish coastal waters for foreign powers), a well structured navy and a technologically advanced air force. "Totalförsvaret", the Total defence strategy, is still a thing and a book, "Om kriget eller krisen kommer" (If war or crisis breaks out) was handed out to all Swedish households as recently as 2018. It contains information about how to handle a national crisis or war independently as a household. Of course, the tone of the 2018 edition is a little more relaxed, less warmongering and less patriotic, but it still evokes a kind of "I must do this for my country if this happens" feeling. From the pamphlet "Om kriget kommer" (if war breaks out), 1961. English: The total war must be met with a total defence. We must defend ourselves against whatever attacks or whichever strains we face. It regards our freedom and our independence - our existence as a independent nation. Sweden wants to defend itself, is able to defend itself and shall defend itself! Opposition must be put up constantly and in every situation. It depends on You - Your deed, Your determination, Your will to survive. We will never surrender! Every message to stop resisting is false! I felt kinda patriotic writing this ngl

Swedish aircraft designations follow a certain format of Role(s)/Model nr in service/nickname J29 "Tunnan" - J - Jakt (fighter or literally "hunt"), 29 - Model in service number, "Tunnan" - nickname meaning barrel JA 37 "Viggen" - JA - Jakt, Attack (strike capabilities), 37, Viggen means thunderbolt and also a certain bird JAS 39 "Gripen" - JAS - Jakt, Attack, Spaning (surveilance capabilities), 39, Gripen = Griffin

Every update war thunder just becomes more cooler with graphics
Saab is definitely one of my favourite company the planes are just super interesting and also I own and drive a Saab 9-3 Viggen
Awesome, I’ve got a 08 9-3 Aero
> starts with making planes
> planes start falling off popularity, so they start pursuing cars as well
> soon makes the safest cars by flipping the engine backwards and putting the ignition in the center console
> their cars soon start falling off so they stop making cars
> still making awesome fighter planes for various countries
saab is kinda based
I think you forgot something important, or rather interesting, regarding the SAAB 21.
Adding the export Hunter to the Swedish tech tree would be nice. Since they imported it before the J32 design was finished.
you got it
Good old Sweden. My Grandfather was actually the navigator on a JA37, before transferring to the Swedish Navy and becoming a Captain there. Not only that, but my uncle is a Lieutenant in the Swedish Air Force, and flies the J39 Gripen, which to this day is still my favorite jet.
Saab actually still means Svenska Aero AB (ltd)
Just got the j21a1 and that was my favourite match in war thunder. 11 kills. I have never even come close to that number before. The guns are insane!
your video descripton: 199th century
i remember as a child, seeing the Draken fly over my granmas house, and since that time i have been in love with it... please gaijin, make the danish variants
This narrator said "Jaktfalken" with perfect pronunciation! That's really hard, well done! :D
The Swedish pronounciation really is on point in this video. It doesn't sound entirely native, but it's extremely good.
My favourite swedish plane is definitely the B18B. I once took out two fighters with the tail gunner, one was the focke wolf fw190 and the spitfire.
Saab draken is insane. My favorite jet to ever exist. Also did ypu guys know the saab 21 propeller plane was the first plane with ejection seat? Maybe add the ejection seat to the J21/A21 if you see this.
Looking forward to seeing the Saab/ British Aerospace Tempest first fight in the next few years.
Bro really boiled down a brilliant, complex, and efficient national defense plan into "Why not"
"Do you have any favroites"
"IDK Like all of them"
Favourite Saabs? The Saab 105 series, and the Saab 21. Oh and the Saab 9000 - no, wait a minute, that's a car! A very nice car, and at the time the safest car on the road, with more airbags and side protection beams than you could shake a stick at. The Swedes also made an excellent piano - the Nordiska - now sadly made in China and nowhere near as good as the proper Swedish made ones...
I go to a flight mechanic school at the old F11 flight Base now Skavsta airport and we just got a Saab SK60 that we'll soon get to use and at the car park of the F11 museum there's a Dragon there
My favorite one is the premium SAAB J35XS. My friend let me use his for a few games and I love that thing
i grinded all my way from 1.0 to 10.7 swedish in1 week.... just for draken.... let me tell you something... its absolutely worth it!
@@unknown98217 What do you mean with how?
Watching this as Sweden joins NATO is just surreal.
RIP alliance neutrality, but in such a case, it is impossible to stay neutral.
SAAB will always be my favourite plane company
fun fact: Austria´s airforce also (still) uses saab planes like The Draaken and 105 ÖE
a21 is SOO good, it has that 600 kg bomb that kills everything, 4 13.2 swedish meatballs mg's and the hispano cannon that makes it more powerful. ofc im big fan of j35 and j37, but ya know... (g)old!!
Love from Sweden!
I would like Sweden if top tier had its repair costs reduced
A Swedish fighter you didn't mention, because it was the only one not designed and developed by Saab, would be the FFVS J22. And the JAS 39 Gripen, off course.
Gaijin, 199th Century in the description. There is a typo.
I really love the swedish B18B bomber. It has a decent climb rate and can defend itself really good. Also sometimes when you get slightly downtiered, you can one- hit bases with its 600kg bombs. I used it to get my first Jet in War Thunder.
that's true, the B-18B had one shot a Bf-109 in a cluster of planes. Awesome really
Very good pronunciation of Swedish names!
Very refreshing!
My dad has owned Saab 9-3 convertibles for a while. First one from 2001, the 03, and currently one from 07, though we are thinking of replacing it.
I think to this day I’ll always rely on the b18. Even at higher brs it’s crazy maneuverability as a bomber and decent bomb load will forever keep it close to my roster.
What I love about the dragon it wouldn't look out of place on the battle star Galactica!
English:
The total war must be met with a total defence.
I love how the narrator sounds like David Attenborough
You must add the SAAB jas Gripen 39, its such a cool plane!!
It would be really cool to see vapor clouds when turning especially on the Swedish jets! Very cool gaijin :)
It was thanks in part to our fearsome airforce we managed to remain neutral trough the turbulent 1900's.
Fun Fact. The B17 used the landing gear as airbrakes for dive-bombing.
Swedish aircraft designations follow a certain format of Role(s)/Model nr in service/nickname
J29 "Tunnan" - J - Jakt (fighter or literally "hunt"), 29 - Model in service number, "Tunnan" - nickname meaning barrel
JA 37 "Viggen" - JA - Jakt, Attack (strike capabilities), 37, Viggen means thunderbolt and also a certain bird
JAS 39 "Gripen" - JAS - Jakt, Attack, Spaning (surveilance capabilities), 39, Gripen = Griffin
Suggestions? Honestly repair costs should be level across the board or not exist at all. Balance should come from Br rating, not taking away reward for playing. The game would be so much more fun if it did that.
the 199th century??
You are wrong. The J29C and J29S was actually used in active war in the Congo Crisis. :) And the JAS39 was sent to Libiya for air patroling. Yes I know that you don't have JAS39 in WT yet. :)
I feel very Saab
"sad?"
no, SAAB
"Oh, ok."
The J21A1 Is my all-time favourite fighter in the game, its just a blast to play with it, i get more than three kills on average and its just... Gorgeous
The B18B is my all time bomber as well! And the thing that i love of it, is that i can go dogfighting with it, its also a blast
