It's flight model reminds me of the Bearcat, it loses energy very quickly until it hits 450 IAS but then loses thrust at 300 and below, it also hits a hard wall of 700 IAS and can't get further from that and also takes 22 seconds to reach such speed with a -20 degree dive. I have dog fought the ki83 in many aircraft and I've never gotten killed by it. Hell, even the J5N1 is basically a K4 with air spawn and reaches 700 in 15 seconds at -20 degrees and keeps accelerating til 780... j5n1 also out rates the Ki83 at 450, it keeps accelerating when doing flat turns and has better energy retention so it's basically like a 109 in a dogfight
@margaritasolis2708 For sure, 10 .50 cals spit out a LOT of lead. Just has the drawback of lower maneuverability and not performing as well at altitude/climbing.
The fun thing is that a lot of RB players come to Sim with the XP-50 and planes in Sim are really different from RB cause there you don't have the instructor to help you out, and XP-50 isn't that good in Sim, it's sluggish as hell (in turn fighting therms), it climbs great, but breaks wings easily cause u lock up diving (it's wing rip speed it's rather slow), and if you don't know how to use Manual Engine Control your engines will just burn out if you keep using it at 100% throttle (making it just good using 85% throttle)
The xp-50 has to be moved to 5.3. Where the lowest enemies they face are the j2m variants, yak 3 variants, and spitfires with better engines. Good job on the midmap AAA.
ikr, my max upgraded bf 109. is usually outperformed by it, and the bf 109 is one the best performing fighters for its BR. its broken. i joined about 2 years ago and am just getting into 4.0 Germany, and i just stop playing during events, because you see nothing but XP-50's and Wyverns. its not fun. i havent played since mid november, because i have no motivation, and the soul sucking grind is too much.

It turns like a yak, has the firepower of a P-38, and climbs as well as the 109F-4. It should go to 5.3. The great part is that many of the pilots are kids who stole their mom’s credit card.

I think removing airspawn and moving it to 4.3 would be more than enough, as I never had any trouble fighting them with j2m2 or yak3. The issue with 109F4 is that it relies on being the highest plane in the game, but that almost never happens if there is a non-brain dead xp50 in the other team thanks to airspawn. Flight characteristics felt similar enough between the two that I feel a duel at equal alt could go either way. Edit: I played with all the planes I mentioned, my best plane out of them is j2m2 followed by xp50 and yak3 (i got yak3 the latest of all)
Why don't they mention the Do-335 B-2? It was classified as an interceptor awhile ago in game. It has an insane climb rate, 3 30mm mk 103 high velocity cannons, 2 20mm mg151's, can withstand 500 mph in a dive without ripping its wings, has 2 engines and literally tears through the sky. Thing can reach bomber altitude faster than the Ta-152.
Narval and VB.10-02 They absolutely shred anything you get shots on. Narval has 6 20mm mg151 cannons VB.10-02 has 4 20mm Hispano 404 cannons and 6 12.7mm M2 Browning machine guns. They may not turn well, the vb actually behaves really weirdly while turning sometimes, but that doesn't matter when a single burst can slice a bomber's tail off.
P61, that thing can do CAS and Boom and Zoom, the radar is a life saver, it eats auto cannon preventing a pilot snipe. and if you max crew your defensive armaments, you just need to aim your nose at the enemy and let it do all the work for you.

Shame too. At Rank III it would be really useful for Japanese players for doing daily/special tasks, even without bombs. Good guns, heavily armored (for a Japanese plane) I would be great. But it's labeled as an interceptor in-game for whatever reason.

F7F-1 Tigercat is my favourite because it hold 4, 20mm cannons and 4, 12.7 high caliber machine guns that can easily rim apart an enemy bomber or a fighter and ive taken down 3 early jets at once even tho i''ve lost half of a wing and one of the engines

It's really nice to have aircraft and be able to use it in the maps. But then you've got 15 Fighters only on you no other targets available to them. I wish there could be people like if in their bombers stop calling out targets. Work together if I'm in your group as a bomber. There are plenty of targets on the ground. That's another thing. Because they can't destroy all of us with multiple bullets in the air like rain clouds.

Calling the Ki-102 Otsu one of the best interceptors in war thunder is fine however the 57mm cannon default belt only has 16 rounds and half of them are practice shells (ball ammunition with no tracer, worst ammo type in the game normally found on 7.62mm machine guns with no tracer... why...)
you guys serious missed out on the SM91, good top speed, above average climb rate, EXTREME firepower coming in 6 forward facing 20mm MG151s with minengeshoss, plus a defensive 20, and on top of all this you have a turn rate that is better than most American fighters of the tier

Imo the hornet should be #1. Even Faster than the p51h at various altitudes. Ludicrous climb rate at all altitudes, and nothing outclimbs it below 6k. Played correctly it’s impossible to touch especially the first half of the game. You can just choose to not die if you really want. The only props that can touch it are the p51h and maybe the F2g. It’s only real competition is the ki83 because it climbs so well but even then the hornet is just so much faster. Not to mention it gets a stupid 2000m airspawn

Imo the hornet should be #1. Even Faster than the p51h at various altitudes. Ludicrous climb rate at all altitudes, and nothing outclimbs it below 6k. Played correctly it’s impossible to touch especially the first half of the game. You can just choose to not die if you really want. The only props that can touch it are the p51h and maybe the F2g. It’s only real competition is the ki83 because it climbs so well but even then the hornet is just so much faster. Not to mention it gets a stupid 2000m airspawn
What about jet interceptors, the best of them by the way is the F14 Tomcat
there isnt even any bomber that the F-14 can go against in the game tho. would have to be 8.0 and under
