  • Hey there! Won't you join me for a peaceful early morning walk around my front yard? Most of these plants started from just tiny seeds. My vision was to create a real cozy, cottage garden feel, and I think it's pretty special.
One thing that really stands out is Proven Winners Supertunia Vista Bubblegum - they've really come into their own along the front of the plant bed. The Proven Winners Limelight and Little Lime Hydrangeas? Well, they're in full swing and looking fabulous. The blooms are a little weighted down which means its time to cut some for bouquets to share their beauty with others :-)
Sure, my garden might seem a bit messy and chaotic to some, but to me, it's a beautiful kind of chaos. Everything's in bloom and it's a sight to see at this time of year. I think it's pretty dreamy and I hope you will too.
So, come along and take a look around with me. This isn't just a garden; it's a slice of what I love, and I'm really excited to share it with you.
Thank you so much for watching, I'll see you in the garden!!!

Beautiful! The super tunias are absolutely mind blowing! Thank for sharing some good info on their size in your videos. Do you still have plans to remove the limelights? I had the same issue with mine until I started pruning them just like a crape myrtle. No branches on lower third and in the shape of a vase. Game changer! They are off the ground and upright. Mine are 9ft tall and like you I also wish I hadn't put them right in front of the house. Now to remove them will be a headache and a half!

No I decided to prune them like you did yours and it was great this past year. I love them too much to move them. So I’m going to embrace them 😍

@@thesoutherndaisyllc they are hard to let go of, once you have them! So beautiful. The standard ones really need to be reclassified as "trees" 🤣. People underestimate the size they can get and the upkeep involved. That was me before I purchased them!

    Kim,
My mop head hydrangeas were the same this year and it’s most likely due to the artic freeze. Most of us in New England area are experiencing this. This year, I’m going to wrap the hydrangea in fencing and fill it with leaves, grass clippings etc. food for thought if you keep them after cutting them back.
I know you mentioned ripping out the limelight’s in front of your garage but I was thinking it would be gorgeous if you had smaller panicle hydrangeas where you have the no blooming hydrangeas. I have firelight tidbits and they are amazing.
It’s looking gorgeous! I need to get mulching and fix the areas where the landscapers mounded mulch around the tree trunks since that’s not good for trees. I told them not to and yet they didn’t listen lol.

That’s a great idea like a double layer! The firelight tidbits are gorgeous! I love the tiny quick fire too although it’s a little smaller. Either way your garden is gorgeous!

The flowering hydrangeas are looking very photogenic in the video. And the supertunia swoop looks great. Look at the video again! I'd give the green hydrangeas another chance. Maybe more feeding? I planted two last fall and they're still 6 inches tall, so I'd trade with you if I could. All in all, it's looking super nice! Good work.

Kim, if you cut back your mophead hydrangeas now, you won't get bloom next year, either since they've already set buds for next year. Where I live, zone 7B N MS, we often get late frosts that knock back the bloom. So if I get another mophead, it will be one of the newer dwarfs that is easy to cover when we have a late frost. No one in my area had a pink or blue hydrangea bloom this year due our successive nights of 1, 9 and 15 degrees in December last year. It killed them all the way back to the ground. You could replace the limelights in front with Bobos, Puffer Fish, or one of the other smaller paniculatas--the same effect, but shorter.
