- In this video, I try to compare the stock engine guard from BMW that came with our 2019's F750GS and F850GS to the SW-Motech engine guard. Check out what SW-Motech has to offer for your GS at:

Thanks to the Toy Box in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland for setting up our bikes to begin Our GS Journey.
Additional protection against rocks and contact with the ground for the engine: the high-quality, aluminium alloy engine guard shows what it's capable of off the street, but provides extra safety and an individualized look on the streets, too. State-of-the-art production gives these bike-specific protectors a secure fit without affecting ground clearance. The installation on frame mounting points lends additional stability and allows for easy installation.

Looks a solid bit of kit and good it goes back and covers the resonator box 👍🇬🇧
Sure is and tested well
Thanks for watching
Great video! :) Also thanks for the tip on FB..
Thanks and you’re most welcome.
@@OurGSJourney BTW, since I work at a SW Motech-dealer I decided to have these anyways., Both Crash bars and skid plate. ;) Have a good one
Thanks awesome.
BMW should have done way better with those weld seams.
Thanks for watching
I bought that SW Motech guard plate, but couldn't fit it because it clashed with my Hepco engine guard bars. Now looking for something that will fit. Just learned BMW had both a plastic guard and aluminium guard. Have you had any experience with the aluminium version of BMW's skid plate? I find little info on it and I'm curious to its size and shape.
Hi and thanks for watching
Like my video that plastic one is small and doesn’t give much protection. The alu BMW i don’t have much experience of pictures.
Try touratech or Givi or many others
It is challenging “mixing” brands as no one will confirm fitment.
Ride safe
@@OurGSJourney Update: I've gotten the alu BMW version. It's larger than the plastic one, but fit easily without conflicts.
Great to hear the update
Thanks great tip
Thanks for watching.
Hi
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. A question: which one goes first Crash bars and then Engine guard I guess? Thank you
Hi and thanks for watching.
When installing, one is not dependent on the other.
However, I would begin with engine guard
Ride safe
Looks like the left side of the crashbars have some marks:) have you tried to test the crashbars? I am looking to getting sw motech crash Bars, just not sure of there is enough engine protection on the bottom.
Tested in the field of course not laboratory. Wife’s F750GS as she attempted a full lock turn on gravel road. Tip over and no damage. Bars did as they should.
Everything ok, but you didn't mention anything bad sounding metallic sound. It doesn't sound good. Today I put a sw motech on my motorcycle, the sound is terrible.
This is strange for sure. I would go over your install. We have this piece on each of our bikes and no metallic sound.
Do they have black?
SW-Motech make a lot of black parts. But for the F750GS and F850GS I believe only silver for now. Check their website for more information.
Not what I’ve seen...
Wow, what a difference in size. The stock guard is a joke!
Sure is a big difference, hence the upgrade. Ready for any journey!!
