Much depends, of course, on what you’re looking for. In this video, Jason is going to focus on two beach destinations and one destination that's known for its culture and arts.

this seems more like a video of places to visit, I as a mexican think there are way better to retire, and enjoy things like the beach or so with more calm and for cheap, for instance Merida, Yucatan, which is a favorite for retirees, one of the lowest crime rates of the entire continent, very cheap prices, big city with all commodities, and it is located near the beach (40min drive). Other favorite is Queretaro, which is a big, more modern city, yet with its own charm and very calm as well, not sure about the prices though

We live in Merida now...for almost two years; everything you said is true. We are looking at Queretaro as our next place to settle into. Do you know if that's a great place to find excellent healthcare? Any other suggestions for safe, beautiful places with low humidity and excellent healthcare? Thx! 😇

I find Playa Del Carmen appealing as it’s less has American than Puerto Vallarta and less of a comercial feel. There are a many young Brazilian, Argentinians Ana Columbians that have moved there . The seafood is very fresh and it’s very walkable and clean. It’s 3 hours drive to Merida if you need more history but the most gorgeous beaches around . The humidity is the only problem for me so I find it works good as a second home . Mexican people are amazing ,they love life and are very happy !

I think Puerto Vallarta and Playa del carmen are more of a Vacation spot than a place to retire .From this short list of 3 .I would prefer San Miguel de Allende .

After visiting all these cities numerous times, all 3 have advantages and disadvantages. PV is over crowded now, the humidity in Cancun is unbearable 6 months out of the year, San Miguel is beautiful and very much like Spain but ironically too far from the beach haha. I prefer a city close to the beach with a higher elevation to avoid the humidity. Tapalpa or Guzman are still pretty close to everything about an hour or 2 and lovely.

There are much nicer places off the beaten tourist track where you can retire in Mexico and still be close to a big city if you need your
Wallmart fix. We have been vlogging in Mexico for almost 6 months and try to stay away from North American chains and live like a happy Mexican.

Two of these recommendations have high crime rate especially the Playa de Carmen with murders/ gang related crimes a constant. No mention of Merida which is regarded as the safest and cheapest place to live.

Mexicans are not moving to the United States; they are already in America, Mexico is in America. Please get it straight; America is not just the United States. The ones coming are from Honduras, El Salvador, Haiti, Guatemala, Venezuela, Colombia, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. The economy is good in Mexico now, so they are staying there.

The prices are always in flux depending on the exchange rate (the dollar is historically strong right now). If you live fairly modestly you can live on less than a thousand a month easily. Plenty of Mexicans are living on less than 500 bucks a month. The three cities he's picked here are places with huge gringo populations and you'll find better deals (and less tourist crap) elsewhere.

Cobblestone streets are the worst streets to walk on in the world! My mom got the worst blisters she'd ever had and even had to go to the emergency room! You'll break your ankle if you don't have on shoes with a 6-in soft rubber sole!
If you're out at night in Puerto Vallarta you might get knocked in the head and robbed or even killed for that matter! I can't believe you're recommending people live there!
