It should sound similar to this, as the 5150 and the Soldano themselves aren't that far apart in sound and architecture. Or so they say.

FINALLY somebody that goes into this rabbit hole properly, really hyped for this series, much respect!👏👏👏
i would love to hear a 5150 with a rectifier i heard they sound good together
also would be cool to hear the 2 amps in mono, so for example you could have 2 performances played with 2 different combination of amps in a single mix

    • @Human-hq3dy
      @Human-hq3dy Рік тому

I think the 5150 and rectifier might be the most popular combo, 5150 has that super direct upper midrange, rectifier has the lows, and both have a shitload of gain pardon my French

Hi Rabea, some troubleshooting tips for the ground loop(s):
First of all, what’s the exact signal path? Is it guitar > pedalboard > split out to both amps? Anything in the fx loops of each amp? I’m assuming the pedalboard can lift the ground on one of the outputs going to the front ends of the amps.
The first thing i’d try is run both heads through real cabs and eliminate the load boxes and see if you get ground loop hum like this. Using the Lehle or any other iso box/hum destroyer device in line on either side, you can ground lift either of the lines going into the front end of each amp to see if this removes any hum at this stage if there is any hum.
If there’s no hum when using real cabs, introduce a loadbox to one amp and see if this adds any ground loop. I’d be surprised if this did given that you’re using balanced lines from loadbox to interface, unless one of the loadboxes has a ground lift switch that’s pressed down when it doesn’t need to be, which might cause the hum.
If adding the first loadbox doesn’t add hum, introduce the next loadbox and see if that adds hum. If that doesn’t, it’s probably happening at the front end stage. Or if anything is going into either fx loop, you might have an issue there that needs a ground lift.
Another test would be to have both amps with loadboxes, but with nothing plugged into the front ends of either amp, and with both amps set to high gain so you just hear amp hiss. If there’s no hum like that, it’s definitely a front end issue that just needs one side to be ground lifted.
I wonder also if there’s a power source issue, but if all the gear is powered by the same outlet then probably not.
Also a few ideas for the next video of this series. Try running two tube screamers or other combinations of dirt pedals in parallel (one to each amp) so each amp has a slightly different signal path. This can get closer to a more double tracked feel.
Also, i’m hearing slight latency on the JVM side so the overall effect is that the 5150 side arrives sooner (i don’t mean the short milisecond ambience added to the tone, just the fact that the 5150 sounds faster).

My suggestion is to do something Hetfield style, scooped 80s/90s style tone blended with a nice compressed Diezel giving some defined mids and some chewy saturated low-end. Seems to be a similar thing to blend two different styles. My favorite non-metal tone is Billie Joe Armstrong's who does a similar thing. Modded 59 Plexi that's closer to maybe a lower-gain classic JCM800 and set pretty clean and straight up, and then another 59 Plexi that's got a more metal-y gain structure with more gain for a big scooped saturated low end. So you get the cleaner super punchy midrange response and cut of the first amp, and all the big sustain and palm muting saturation and sizzle from the second amp, all through V30s.

The JVM has always been my favorite amp since I first saw it and eventually played it after a few years of watching the videos. While it’s great to have the luxury of both amps, one could get away with tones ranging from worse to even better by using a 10 band EQ pedal and a compressor. Maybe even use some of your favorite OD pedals and you’re very good to go.

Just coming with options of things to check, but has the earth plug in one ot the units been damaged or anything? Like in the back of the unit, maybe not iec itself. Was it like that with all guitars or just some? Maybe there is a earth connection gone bad in the guitar you tested with. Is something else plugged in to the same power source that usually has not been there? Maybe something else is noisy, but you hear it through the double amp rig. Also you just had your Marshall fixed, right? Maybe something got fixed but something also broke. Has happened with me sometimes when I got my amps serviced. Maybe the transformer on one is gone slightly bad? Check the tubes?
Hope any of this will help. If all else fails. Try the same thing a couple days later, and it might work. Sometimes electronics just have a bad "juju" day.

Once you have diagrammed your circuits, you’ll know which outlets share circuits with lights from other rooms, etc. You will also discover outlets which are unused and might serve you better, so you will run extension chords to them. You will also understand circuit loads, and how much load each of your amplifiers requires.

I would LOVE to hear a Sheriff (AMP/V4) / Kraken (Amp/V4) Combo (especially as I got my hands on those two preamp pedals used, and I would like to see how you dial them in...!)
Or SLO / Kraken, SLO /5150...
or Sheriff /Slo - 5150... or... just anything you can get your hands on... mix n match... :)
Someone has written Orange Amp in combo with something (Kraken as my favourite) which I have to second!
Anyways, great video, awesome tones, cant wait for the next one!

So freaking good. Is it possible to make Kemper Profiles with blended amps? It seems like it could be done in theory. I'd love to get my hands on preamp or merged profile of this.

I've got a JVM410H TBH, I rarely play it, too beastly for my small music room. I tend to play with Yamaha THR's or soft amps or Helix. I would be curious what the JVM410H & Mesa Dual Rect would sound like? 🤯

I've been Bi-amping on a stereo 4x12 for years...I feel spoiled...as soon as one of the amps isn't there, it sounds "off" or "weird".
Kinda like turning off a stereo effect in a wet/dry rig ;-(
...anyway, AMAZING TONE Bea...call Dan 'That Pedal Show' on your noise issue!

Lately I've only had my 6505+ around. I miss pairing it with my Laney AOR 50. AOR set darker thru mxr octave fuzz w/ blended Down and up octaves through orange 2x12. Peavey set brighter and tightened up with a OCD thru mesa 2x12. Respectively dry/wet. Modulation on both at times. Nice selection of guitars. Gibsons and Esp in drop c

Ugh I hate dealing with random noise issues. I don't think it's related, but I had a horrible ground loop issue with my JVM410H and an ISP Decimator II G-string which INTRODUCED a ton of noise when it wasn't 'suppressing' the noise. I don't remember the details, but I worked with ISP to try and 'fix it' to no avail. I had to switch back to a Boss NS-2 which didn't seem to have the same issue. I haven't had that issue with my EVH 5150ii 50 watt, revv g20, or any of my Synergy stuff. Only the JVM410H

Yeah, I'm really late to this party, but I've just been listening to all these and have a suggestion / ask: how about the crunch channel on the SLO-100 with the Friedman Twin Sister? OK, not High Gain Harmony, but maybe Mid Gain Melody?

I like blending my Orange Rockerverb Mkiii and Marshall DSL.
They have a complimentary mix due to their different tonal characteristics.
Try a Orange Rockerverb Mkiii with your Marshall and see what you think.

How about a daisy chained rig of a Marshall (SV20, 1987x etc), maybe a Vox (AC15/30, Matchless,/13, Morgan etc), and a Fender blackface super reverb. All cranked through attenuation. Curious to see what happens when you play them all together, while they're eqd such that each respective amp occupies a specific frequency spectrum. Maybe the Marshall for mids to highs, the fender (bass turned to 10) for bass, and the vox for high end chime? Love the way the two heads sound in this video Rabea :)

Excellent vid. They mixed wonderful together. The tube screamer takes away clarity and dynamics. I preferred the Marshall if the amps weren't mixed.
A Fryette and a Bogner would be lovely. Especially a Sig X or Deliverance, but the Pitbull would be awesome too.

Hi Bea, i have a little trick when comes to your buzz/ground hum issues. Try European (continental) amp power cables with a uk adapters, 2 EU pin to 3 UK pin. I was strugglin with this issue for ages everywhere in UK. And then, by total accident i discovered this trick. I had this annoying ground loop buzz/hum comming out of my studio monitors connected to my PC. I swapped my monitor's power cabels to EU with UK adapters and eureka, complete silence. It works with guitar amps as well.
Also a cheap Behringer Hum Destroyer is very usefull in various occasions.
Take care and keep up a good work buddy!!!

I blended my 50W 6L6 Kraken with my 50W Marshall 1987x Plexi the other day as an experiment. I've never felt more intimidated by a sound before!!
Needless to say the Marshall was cranked through an attenuator (Still insanely loud), the Victory was on gain 1 at about 3 oclock, EQ to taste (Bass at 11, mid and treble at 1) I tried to match the volume with the semi attenuated marshall. So much meat.
With Gain 2 engaged you get this godly overlap of high gain and the brutal screaming roar of a plexi at full battle-stations. Sadly I only have one 4x12 so I had to run them through half the cab each. I'd love to try it with one 4x12 per amp
