Hey YM, I was looking to purchase this amplifier to replace my individual amps but after talking with Grant from Emotiva twice this week, it does not seen like a good idea. Here is the issue; I have 3 Emotiva XPA-100 monoblocks that are rated at 250w, I also have a basx a-300 which is 150w x 2 and a basx a-700 which is 85wpc. I am looking to decrease footprint in my rack by going down to a single 11 ch amp. Based on your review in this video and what is listed on emotiva's website that list the 1-ch modules at 300wpc. BUt after talking with Grant twice I was told that in a 11-ch configuration the 1-ch high current modules will only do 200wpc and the stereo modules will only do 65wpc. He stated it is because of the limitation of the power supply in the chassis. So what is listed online is inaccurate and the true power rating for a 11-ch configuration is not accurately noted. So my only option if I decide to proceed is to get this 11-ch and keep my basx a-300 as well or go with a Monoprice. Your Thoughts. PM

BUT FIRST 😀 help me understand this Emotiva and Marantz combo you're testing. * Is the "Marantz Pre-Pro" the box that tells the Emotiva how to refine the sound and do all the magic to create Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 ? I've never heard of such a thing :-) * is this a PREFERRED APPROACH over the Marantz SR8015 or is it really a Power Need Issue or something else ... because the front speakers don't have enough power or quality in the all-in-one SR8015 box??? OK 😀 ... Would you be kind enough to help me sort out a couple of ideas since we're building a retirement home with a 7.2.4 theater? I didn't wish to spend $4,000 on a Reciever so I was looking at the more budget friendly reciever from either Onkyo TX-RZ50 or Integra DRX 3.4 (
Youthman! That friend of yours, he really should invest to some BIG tv or projector with BIG screen! So many amps and nice big Klipsch speakers and then..so small tv on the wall...??
I have the Emotiva xpa-3 Gen 3 for my front stage. Then I have an emotiva 2 channel amp part of their base X Line running my 2 surrounds. And then my four ceiling Atmos speakers run through my AVR . AWESOME

@@Youthman Thanks. That is what I have heard. I just really can't decide between higher output with the E vs possibly better amps with the Mono. Can't find info on the E amps and it seems ATI makes the Mono, unless they changed.

54lbs. is a joke for an 11 channel power amp! The Monolith 11 is 40lbs. more. Also, it is 3X200 and 8X100W, where as the Emo is only 8X65W. The Monolith is $450 more but you get more power and a better built amp. The Monolith also sounds way better than the Emo, and almost sounds better than my A-31. Check out the Audioholics review on the Monolith 7. Audioholics also real, accurate reviews and Gene is way more knowledgeable!
Thanks David. Hopefully you do realize the weight difference is due to the different topology between the amps. Class A/B use a large teroidal transformer which adds a lot of weight to the amp. My own ears disagree that the XPA-11 is a joke. Is it the best? Absolutely not. I feel it is a great amp that provides 11ch of amplification at a very affordable price and sounds fantastic with my setup. If you do the math, overall the Emotiva provides more power (1420 vs 1400) due to being 300x3 vs 200x3. I am looking forward to hooking up the Monolith this weekend to see how it compares to the Emotiva. I have heard great things about it. As far as Gene and Audioholics, I have nothing but respect for. Gene has been in the business for over 30 years and indeed has much more knowledge than I and also has the proper equipment to perform bench testing.I will be meeting Gene at his home this Saturday. I guess if someone like myself provides a review that differs from yours or other opinions, it somehow makes it unreal and inaccurate? Thanks for watching.
Youthman Emo is also Class A/B. Check the specs on their site. That 8X65 is a deal breaker to me. Those 35 extra watts are true watts, not the garbage AVR wattage. So the extra 35 will give surrounds and heights better overall effects. But yes, you are correct Emo’s first 3 are 100W better than the Monoliths. I say inaccurate, because reading specs off a sheet or site doesn’t give you the knowledge to really make your reviews valid, just my opinion. I brought up Audioholics only because they break it all the way down, with in depth explanations, graphs, etc. Not knocking you, just giving my opinion. When people make reviews, they put themselves out there for opinions. If you don’t like mine, that’s your prerogative.
I have seen multiple reviews of both emotiva and monolith. They say there is no difference in sound quality between the 2. So not sure where you heard the monolith sounds way better ? Both are quality amps. It basically comes down to preference. I'm personally gonna go with emotiva because monolith is backed ordered untill July.
That is indeed what I heard as well with my own ears Bob. David, you are absolutely welcome to share your opinions, regardless if they align with my personal experience with these amps or not. Your comments have been very civil and I certainly respect that and have no issues with them. BTW, if you have a 65 watt amp and add 35 watts, your ears will not be able to tell a difference since you need double the power to gain 3dB in volume. At the end of the day, everyone has to do their own research and come to a conclusion. My goal on this channel is to describe my experiences from a consumers perspective. I do not attempt to be an engineer nor do I want to be an engineer. I have been a home theater enthusiast since I was 14 years old. My perspective is based on what I as a consumer look for in a home theater product. Thanks and have a great week
Question.. isn't 300 LCR and 65 surrounds going to really drown out the ATMOS/heights/etc with LCR (and presumably sub)? Still trying to figure out if same watt to all speakers makes more sense than 2x to 4x LCR and lower to surrounds/siges/heights/atmos.
Because unless you have noise issues or long runs, the only benefit of XLR is 3dB gain in volume which I don’t need due to the high sensitivity of my speakers
I have 1 input left on emotiva a700. Would it be terrible if I run L&R rear height pre-out to a Y adapter into the a700's only unused channel? Currently, rear height is the only thing I'm not using in my 7.1.4 (soon to be 7.2.4) setup .
@@Youthman I don't get the thinking on the XLR cables. NEWS FLASH!!! Manufacturers put the XLR plug-in's on their receivers and amps for a reason! Not to just look cool!? Yay I got the SR8012, the same model as your home theater. I think emotiva has really planned really hard to have 3 high power modules, for the three front ch, which is extremely important for any home theatre
It really depends on your sensitivity of your speakers. I think it will be fine for my Klipsch speakers because they are 97dB sensitivity so they are easy to drive.
@@Youthman I have older Klipsch surrounds the s2 model. But in a small room with a big front of house I worry about under powering them. That is my next upgrade is the SL/SR and SBR/SBL speakers to bigger ones to open up the sound a bit more. I'll leave my heights as the s2
Touching on this subject. Do you know how much it will cost to upgrade xpa 5 gen 3 to add 4 sets of stero amps. Because I don't find nothing on there website
Still at my corner waiting since you reviewed the parasound to hear your thoughts on the sound of the emotiva with marantz. Now that you finally have it. Lol.
Cut my chat off :) Really nice overview man, really looking forward to your impressions when you get it all setup! Emotiva makes some beastly amps at pretty reasonable prices
Youth man since you did a review and an ubboxing on a marantz 7705. I was wandering could you and would you do the samething for Denon reciver as well to?
Why did you switch from the Emotiva to the monolith 11X??emotiva offers a 7 channel amp all channels 200 watts ? Would it be better to get two emotiva amps for a movie room?? I’m no expert just thought 200 watts for every speaker channel in say a 7.2.4 may be a good option. Verse monolith 11x only supplying 200 watts to three channels? Any advise sir?
I reviewed the Emotiva XPA11 which is 300x3 + 65x8 and the Monolith 11X which 8’is 200x3 + 100x8. I chose the Monolith 11X since it had a more even distribution of power and is made bumpy ATI which are known for their performance and reliability. Both sounded equally well.
You think using two emotiva 7 channel amps for 13 channels will work? Sound well, or, The emotiva 9channel for 300 watts times five channels may be better with the 7 channel emotiva at 7 x 200 watts ? Trying to build a theatre in the basement. Thx for your reply I know you can get busy sir,
For a better GAIN structure throughout your cinema, which behaves uniformly in all channels when you up or down the volume, it is recommended that you have the exact same amp stage IN EACH CHANNEL. I do not particularly like amps with different specs for different channels.
Thanks for the unboxing and overview. They are RRP $3500 in Australia. I will look at getting one when I set my home theatre up. I just want a set of those RCA cables. Do you know if you can still get them? Can you source me a set of them cables? Great editing with the video too, we really get to see what the back looks like. Nice work 👍👍
Hey Youthman, Once you hear separates you may not want to go back to an AVR. You will notice right away the sound would be more dynamic. That would be next logical step for your theater is to go separates. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on SQ after your full review. I currently have the Emotiva BASX A700 on order that would be used for my SB/ATMOS speakers. Good Luck. PM
Youthman always love your videos. Really loved those Emotiva cables at the end of the video! Went on eBay and found a set for $50 and bought them even though I'm a year out from using them with my Onkyo TX-RZ1100 by adding an Emotiva or Monolith amp. Anywho!!
Hello Youthman, By the way I was able to find and purchased a set of those MRCA-7 cables from HI-F-Heaven. They are waiting for my BASX A-700 to show up. PM

Youthman grate video as always i have question that i think i know the anwser to but i just need you to tell me if im right or not. In an early video you unboxed a marantz an 11 channel or a 13 channel not sure which but i liked what i seen. Here is my question: most recvivers are 4k capability within most recivers that much i do know and understand. However my flat screen is in 1080p not 4k so i need to know is this when i plug my flat screen in to any reciver does it up scale 1080p to the 4k settings on a reciver? Or do i need to go out and get a 4k flatscreen to be able to use the 4k settings that most recivers offer. Im hopeing i can use my 1080p tv without haveing to go out and get a 4k tv. My anwser to my question is this yes i can and it will up scale the moment i hook it up with hdmi Hope fully this is right
Your TV will only be able to display its highest resolution. So if you have a 1080p TV, a 4K UHD player and a 4K receiver will be displayed as a 1080p image.

Hi once again a great presentation what’s is the advantage of continuous power over her standard amplifier which ramps up I’m assuming that the continuous power means it has 300 W powered all the time this obviously means that it’s drawing huge current on a continuous basis. Have you got a video on how you hook up a trigger.?
Even with the Dedicated amplifier, you’re not going to get 300 W per channel at one time the amp is going to send whatever power it needs to the speakers depending on the source
There’s not much to a trigger. Your receiver will say 12 V or trigger out. You connect the cable from that to your power amplifiers trigger in. Your receiver will then send 12 V to the amplifier every time you turn the receiver on and it will send another signal when you power it off
Hi Do you feel that the 65watt is enough for the atmos speakers..? Or do you need to feed them more power..? What do you Think of the svs prime elevation speakers do they need more power you Think..? I use them as atmos. Hard for you to answear on maybe..?
@@Youthman I do have a couple of Sherbourn 350s which are 98lbs each and as you may know Sherbourn made (make) amps for Emotiva. They have the same AB/H design. I suspect the transformer is not an overly generous one hence the relatively light weight.
Hi my friend ! regards from Argentina , do you recommend the la scala II over the rf-7 III for home theater setup ? i have a room of 17x26 feet , Thanks for your amazing videos . keep it
Both speakers will work great for home theater. The LaScalas are amazing as long as you pair them with a quality sub / subs. I just hooked up the XPA-11 right before traveling out of state for the past week. Just about any amp will power the LaScalas due to their 104dB sensitivity.
Hi how would you say that the Emotiva sounds like Bright or warm or neutral in there sound..? Im looking at the Emotiva xpa-3 gen3. How would you campare the Emotiva against the other power amps " Parasound Halo" you have tested in qualite and strenght.? Whant to drive my svs ultra Towers and ultra center whit it. Do you think it would be a good match or should i look for something else for the svs ultra Towers to realy come a live you think..? Whant some realy Good punch and no harsch sound "bright" Hope you can help me out whit some sugestions..🙂 Best regards
Sorry. In the uk you get all 11 channels for £2,349. I don’t get why it’s not got the same power throughout all the amps. Just because typically surround speakers are smaller. You still want identical power across the board. Looks nice, but I can add a 2nd 7channel power amp same as mine for £1,500 and get 14 identical channels of amplification. It’s a weird one for me this😂😂👍🏻
Great overview man! Awesome looking amplifier. Love the look of that front panel. Great rear panel layout. Nice price tag. Great production work on the video Youthman!
I am clad you turned the unit on remember when my new XPA 5 Gen 3 lights were red I thought it was an issue and request them to send me a RMA when I called they said it was the post boot. Wow so now I am keeping for my theater only Parasound will do my Front Stage. Thanks. Now when can I receive my Demo Disks, LOL
Love your videos. You didnt provide any review or first impressions of the product, how did it sound ? how was your experience especially compared to the Parasound one which you tried.
That’s because I have not hooked it up yet. I always provide an Unboxing / Overview where I share the specs and then about a month or so of using it I will pride the actual review.
Youthman cant wait to hear your opinion. Currently using NAD M27, but looking ro jump to a Class A/AB, thinking between Parasound and Emotiva. Any suggestions ?
My bad, I was looking on my phone so the thumbnail is small and thought you were referring to the Monolith 11X which I reviewed at the same time as the Emotiva XPA-11. I ended up choosing the monolith because it has more even distribution of power with 200x3 + 100x8, vs the 300x3 + 65x8 in the Emotiva. I did not hear any audible difference between the two amplifiers though.
Would you be able to suggest an 11.2 or higher processor to pair it with that won't cost as much as a middle of the road avr? I was debating the denon x3800h but if a processor is cheaper then I'll go that route
I actually just looked at the monolith 11 and it's more affordable than the emotiva which one up by $200 since this video. I'm thinking I might go with that also that's a amazing amount of customizability. So in that case I'd assume I'm better off sticking with the den on 3800

Unfortunately I do not. You would need to give them a call
@@ultimateone624 , $220-250 give or take for 1 ch.
The first 3 channels need to be like 275 to free up some more for the rest I think ??
I’m not sure what you are saying. Monolith has a more even approach (200x3 + 100x8). Both amps sound great
@@Youthman talking about the emotiva 11ch
Dave I gotcha. Yes, I think the Monolith 11X has a better distribution of wattage per channel than the Emotiva XPA11
Thanks Kyle. I bet this would rock your towers quite well.
I love your excitement you bring to the table with each review Youthman, keep up the good work!
Thanks Tim.
I'm sure you are aware but Emotiva linked your review to today's email as well!
Sweet I haven’t seen it. Not sure I’m on their email list.

Youth man since you did a review and an ubboxing on a marantz 7705. I was wandering could you and would you do the samething for Denon reciver as well to?
Last year I reviewed the Denon 6400

The 7705 is the first Pre/Pro I have been sent for review.
11 channels?! Crazy!
Sam Woodel monolith has same amp, glad to see emotiva step up to plate, yamaha has 11 ch but they are equal channels instead of 3 fronts and 8 rears
great looking amp....i would be able to power my whole system with this amp....that is a beast
MM8077 , i should grab it @ 400 dollars
Nice!
Youthman, you’re inspiring me to work harder for that extra cash to purchase some of these great products. Thank You
Nice.
Sound well, or,
The emotiva 9channel for 300 watts times five channels may be better with the 7 channel emotiva at 7 x 200 watts ?
Trying to build a theatre in the basement. Thx for your reply I know you can get busy sir,
Hi John, two XPA-7 would be awesome for any home theater.
For a better GAIN structure throughout your cinema, which behaves uniformly in all channels when you up or down the volume, it is recommended that you have the exact same amp stage IN EACH CHANNEL. I do not particularly like amps with different specs for different channels.
Will see how it works out
Thanks for the unboxing and overview. They are RRP $3500 in Australia. I will look at getting one when I set my home theatre up. I just want a set of those RCA cables. Do you know if you can still get them? Can you source me a set of them cables? Great editing with the video too, we really get to see what the back looks like.
Nice work 👍👍
Thank you. Unfortunately Emotiva no longer sells them
Hey Youthman, Once you hear separates you may not want to go back to an AVR. You will notice right away the sound would be more dynamic. That would be next logical step for your theater is to go separates. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on SQ after your full review. I currently have the Emotiva BASX A700 on order that would be used for my SB/ATMOS speakers.
Good Luck.
PM
That’s what my wallet is afraid of haha
Youthman always love your videos. Really loved those Emotiva cables at the end of the video! Went on eBay and found a set for $50 and bought them even though I'm a year out from using them with my Onkyo TX-RZ1100 by adding an Emotiva or Monolith amp. Anywho!!
Very cool thank you very much have a great day
Hey there Youthman. Looking at the Emotiva amp and curious If you’ll be doing a review of it anytime soon?
Yes it’s coming
Hello Youthman, By the way I was able to find and purchased a set of those MRCA-7 cables from HI-F-Heaven. They are waiting for my BASX A-700 to show up.
PM
Sweet!
Thank you ! For your awesome reviews and explaining this amp I was so confused about the set up in the back but you straighten that all out thanks again 🙏🏽
Glad you found it helpful
I guess u won't hear it at max bleeding level. But I imagine it deliver punchy sound as compared to ur parasound high end or high priced.
Not sure how they would compare. Looking forward to it though
Nice! the 3 300W modules should power your La Scalas beautifully :) Hope you get some XLR cables to tes that Marantz processor out :) Have fun man!
Thanks. Not sure if they will make a lot of difference with the LaScalas at 104dB sensitivity
Awesome setup with the Emotiva amp and the Marantz preamp ..
Will this setup be replacing your sr 8012 ?
Not sure. I’m completely satisfied with the 8012. Just depends on if it’s night and day difference. I might be willing to upgrade then.
Its been fun Youthman my Theater Infrastructure is all done and everything is working Great "Thanks To You" I have all my components in place only my Parasound is missing and I will be purchasing that unit at the end of the month I will send you a link so you can see all I have done but let me get my Parasound first. Take care Now me and the family and cousins have a place to Chill. Now working on new Spring Project "The Grill" on my lower deck Just build this house so I am having allot of family outing this Spring and Summer. Peace DJ Johnny C.
That’s awesome John. Glad I have been of help.
Hi, did you ever do review video for this amp?
Between EMOTIVA and Monolith 11 channel which one is recommended coz EMOTIVA has 65watts for sorrounds that seems very less.
I chose the Monolith as I feel it has a more even power distribution (200x3 + 100x8)
Thanks@@Youthman
I love all your videos.
Let me get it for my B&W 600 Series and excited !
Let me know how you like it.
sure
not sure if i missed a video, but how about the subs ? what do you use to power them ?
Subs are self powered. Google JTR Captivator RS2. 4000 watt RMS amp
Youthman thank you
Is this a MOSFET amp? How does this sound?
I’m not sure.i haven’t connected it yet.
Do I need to connect rmc 1 to XPA then to the speakers? What cables
Yes RMC-1 to amp XLR. I posted some cables in the description
I currently own the Basx a-500 .. thinking about stepping it up a notch with these ..🤔
Oh yeah
how it sounding?
i was insterest
I have the 7704 its a beast! Emotiva and outlaw is the power for it too
Nice!
You said that the 11 Channel amplifier is 300 watts a channel
Three channels are 300 Watts, 8 channels are 65 watts
Denon 3500h and Yamaha avantege 1080 which is good for music listening and for movie as well
I like Denon but have not heard those particular models
@@Youthman under 1500 dollars plz suggest me a model
I have the Gen 3 and its badass! same unboxing experience I had with mine..
Very cool Ryan
My anwser to my question is this yes i can and it will up scale the moment i hook it up with hdmi
Hope fully this is right
Your TV will only be able to display its highest resolution. So if you have a 1080p TV, a 4K UHD player and a 4K receiver will be displayed as a 1080p image.
@@Youthman thats what i thought but i wanted to make sure i was thinking correctly.
Also thanks for helping upscale my home theater to most if not all of your videos meaning marantz 7705 , ultiment svs speaker system and the svs 3000 or 4000 powered sub wich i havent desided on witch to get as of yet and the parasound halo 52+ amplifier
I want to give you a shout out for doing that. If it wasnt for your videos i would have just kept what i have regaurdless if it way over due for a upgrade and it is. I have never went in to the high end stages before however i normally go up to highend and stop their becausecof the priceing mainly. Again thanks for upgradeing my home theater and keep makeing awsome videos as well.
For some reason im not getting notifications when you up load videos for some reason i have the bell set to all just a fyi.
Cant wait for the next video
One question when are you makeing another video on the 11 channel amp you just got meaning the hooking up stage i really want to see how you hooked up this monster to work with your 11 channel setup
Your receiver will then send 12 V to the amplifier every time you turn the receiver on and it will send another signal when you power it off
I'm just getting in the world of home audio and I'm starting with Onkyo + Klipsch and I'll continue with emotiva to spice up even more the party.
Sounds like a good plan. What Klipsch speakers?
@@Youthman Not like yours, I purchased RP series towers, center and surround.
Hey Youthman! How much to ship that to Wisconsin?
$1,000,000 😀
Always enjoy your overviews. Leaves me wanting more. Like the full review.
Thanks. It will be coming
Hi Do you feel that the 65watt is enough for the atmos speakers..? Or do you need to feed them more power..?
What do you Think of the svs prime elevation speakers do they need more power you Think..? I use them as atmos.
Hard for you to answear on maybe..?
It sounds great with my Klipsch Atmos but they require much less power than SVS.
Keep in mind it takes TWICE the power to gain 3dB in volume
This weekend I will be replacing the XPA11 with the Monolith 11ch to see how they compare
@@Youthman interesting to hear if you notice any diffrence..🙂
Two thin boxes is hardly better than a single thick one. Also 54 lbs is light for an 11 channel amp.
You are correct. But keep in mind a 180x5 Parasound A52+ is $3000. So you would need to spend $9000 to power 11 speakers.
@@Youthman I do have a couple of Sherbourn 350s which are 98lbs each and as you may know Sherbourn made (make) amps for Emotiva. They have the same AB/H design. I suspect the transformer is not an overly generous one hence the relatively light weight.
I had a Sherbourn 7/2100a (200x7). What a beast
On their website, the 7 ch and on up are all $2000 each is that true?
It’s $2000 for the configuration I have (300 x 3 and 65 x 8). emotiva.com/products/xpa-11-gen3
The XPA-7 is $2000 and it’s 200 x 7 - emotiva.com/collections/amps/products/xpa-7-gen3
Hi my friend ! regards from Argentina , do you recommend the la scala II over the rf-7 III for home theater setup ? i have a room of 17x26 feet , Thanks for your amazing videos . keep it
also could this xpa-11 move the la scala II and rp-502s surround speakers ?
Both speakers will work great for home theater. The LaScalas are amazing as long as you pair them with a quality sub / subs.
I just hooked up the XPA-11 right before traveling out of state for the past week. Just about any amp will power the LaScalas due to their 104dB sensitivity.
@@Youthman Thanks for you help ! your have an awesome channel
Thank you
Hi dear.
How much price?
$2000
cant wait for the coming videos on this
Thanks.
Just WOW...! 🤤
Whant some realy Good punch and no harsch sound "bright" Hope you can help me out whit some sugestions..🙂
Best regards
Emotiva XPA- DDR3 will be the next???
Could be. Let’s get through this review first 😀
@@Youthmanperfect
Thanks

Roger you shouldn’t have!!!! Thanks bro 😀
This is a review unit
Nice
Thanks POTE
Amp it up!
Oh yeah!
So what do you get standard out of the box for £1,999? 11ch’s of amplification?
It’s a weird one for me this😂😂👍🏻
The reality is I will never come close to even 65 Watts due to the efficiency of Klipsch. You don’t need massive power for surrounds or Atmos speakers
Youthman I get the logic in it. It’s just a strange thing to do. It’s different😂😂.
For those that want, they can load it with seven 300 watt rms modules
Youthman well now your talking😂😂😂👍🏻.
Ultra high end cables do make a difference, but only to your wallet!
Exactly
Love your videos. You didnt provide any review or first impressions of the product, how did it sound ? how was your experience especially compared to the Parasound one which you tried.
That’s because I have not hooked it up yet. I always provide an Unboxing / Overview where I share the specs and then about a month or so of using it I will pride the actual review.
Youthman cant wait to hear your opinion. Currently using NAD M27, but looking ro jump to a Class A/AB, thinking between Parasound and Emotiva. Any suggestions ?
So now three years later what are your thoughts on this amplifier? Are you still running it? This thing seems too perfect for my plans
100% still recommend it. Still works flawlessly in my system. Never failed me once.
I have owned the Marantz AV7705 and 7706 and highly recommend them both. Might be above budget though
I actually just looked at the monolith 11 and it's more affordable than the emotiva which one up by $200 since this video. I'm thinking I might go with that also that's a amazing amount of customizability. So in that case I'd assume I'm better off sticking with the den on 3800
