Great review man. Spot on. I own both the 7704 and 7705 with Emotiva amps. They are a great combination for sure. The XPA 11 is a good way to go when it comes to space. I have the room and have mine split into 3 amps. XPA DR3 for fronts. 450W X 3 XPA 2 for tower rears. 300WX2 XPA 5 for 4 large in ceiling ATMOS 260WX4 I am very happy with the performance and I would now love to see if the 8805 is worth the upgrade. It should be given the upgrade in parts it has. Also on the XLR connections you do get 2.4 volts on the outputs vs 1.2 volts on the unbalanced. It will help given the Emo amps need 1.5 volts for full power on the regular Gen3 amps and 2.1 volts on the DR series amps. Receivers are a good product but separates are a big upgrade. Again great review.
16:50, the only problem is that if you have the same sensitivity speakers all around. from 65w to 300w is almost 6db of difference, and that's kind of a lot. Would be more appropriate the stereo amps to be 100w a channel and the mains to be 200w. Also that amps can't do all channel driven 300w LCR and 65w the rest of the channels. The XPA-3 Gen3 has only 3 mono block 300w each, and all channels driven it can do 275w a channel not 300w. Here you have 3 of those 300w each monoblocks and 4 of those 65w stereo amps. If they play all at the same time and full volume, the watts would be even less. Audioholics made a really good video talking about watts. It's a beast of an amp, it will do the job for 99% of the setups. Most people don't like it loud, they normally play ~15db below reference. so they gonna use like 30w of power anyway, but at least it's gonna be really clean power, because the electricity is not split into other processing modules like an AVR is.
Running a Marantz AV7703 which is very similar to the AV7705 with 3x 1st gen Emotiva XPAs. can't be happier! using my Emotivas for at least 8 years straight with zero issues. Great review thanks
I tried the Parasound HALO A52+ ($3000 amplifier) with the SR8012 and didn’t hear much difference due to the sensitivity of my speakers. That’s why I’m thinking it’s the Pre/Pro that is making the difference. I have owned several power amps over the years and did not hear a difference between them.
Youthman I hope this is not the case me...I have the Anthem Mrx1120 & was thinking of adding the monolith 7, Emotiva xpa 3 for Lcr or the Outlaw 5000. Would hate to spend the money for little to no improvement. But I will hold off until your Monolith Review. Thanks for another great video 👍🏽!
The Emotiva XPA power amps are superstars for transparency and effortless dynamic headroom. Unless you have a super-inefficient speaker, it’s like looking into the eyes of a serpent.
Hey youthman. I have a denon x4500h and im looking to get an extra amp to add atmos. Any ideas for what is a good amp for around £800 -£900? I want to power the LCR speakers with it. Thank you keep the content coming. Waithing for news on the klipsch BEAST.
Cool, like to see you so excited, I Will stick to my onkyo rz3100 thats runs my klipsch rf-7 iii center klipsch 64ii and 4 klipsch rp-502s, atmos is onkyo, but the atmos I like to do som changes, any tips? I have them wallmount near the seiling. And in aug/sept My dual tv36ipal hopefully Will show up, and when I plugg them in I hope I look as excited that you are youthman in this video.
Very nice review Youthman. I too had the SR8012 and loved it but a month ago I decided to get the Marantz AV8805 and power it with Emotiva XPA11 Gen 3. Let me tell you that it sounds INCREDIBLE. The SR8012 was truly amazing but the AV8805 is just another beast at a whole other level. I hope you decide to get the pre/pro 7705 or even the 8805
Our Little Cakery hi I have a SR8012 as well, what improvement would you say you have over the 8012 with the 8805 and what %. as I paid 5k for the 8012 in Australia to go to the 8805 and the Emotiva SPA11 would cost 11k
Roman Lewandowski You have an impressive unit. The SR8012 is an amazing AVR with superb sound quality. The AV8805 is just another animal that in my opinion is about 30% better than the SR8012. The best part about the AV8805 is the speaker separation and has noticeable detail in sound quality. This is AB comparison. If you have not heard the AV8805, then the SR8012 has incredible sound quality as well. I can’t say the difference between the two units is day and night but it does make a difference. Is the 30% worth spending sooo much money to upgrade is really up to you lol.
Roman Lewandowski I have Definitive Technology Mythos ST-L for my FL and FR, CS9080 for Center, SR9080 for SB Left and SB Right, Pro Monitor 800 for SR Left and SR Right. Also Dual SVS PB16 Ultra Subwoofers Everything is Definitive Technology except the subs
good youthman I wanted to ask you a question, how do you connect the 7705 with the stages by rca or xlr? ... do you think that connecting by RCA would have an advantage? I have the sr7013 as a previous and the sound improves to use its internal stages !! could you make a video connecting the xpa11 to the sr8012 and see how you think about the sound? Many of us who have avr + external stages would help us see if all those improvements are from the emotive or the av7705 and see if that sound that so much The av7705 is also approached with an avr high end with preout !!!! I await your response and greetings from Spain
17:30 on another note, klipsh lies about the sensitivity ratings, again audioholics and i think another channel also debunked them. They are still more sensitive than other speakers just not that much. more like 4-6db not 10db. Also loudness is half the story of a speaker. Every speaker can go loud, but it has to not lose dynamics and clarity. That's what separates a 500$ speaker from a 5000$ one. EDIT: i just pulled the specs of the LA SCALA II Its says that they are 105dB @ 2.83V / 1m It also says that power handling is 100W / 400W , so 100w continuous and 200w peak, because that's how MAX power is calculated: 2x the contentious power. and they can do a MAXIMUM SPL 121dB, which is at peak watts or 200w in this case. if we do the math, 105db to 120db is only 32watts. so 121db should be around 43watts. WTF ? if the above specs are correct, they should do 126db at 128watts. and above 130db at 400w max peak.
We have Marantz AV7705 & Emotiva. With Klipsch speakers. My boyfriend has XLR balanced cables hooked up to Marantz Tuner... We are having popping and cracking. Do we need to hook speakers up to Emotiva
If you were in the market for a used pre/pro which would be the better unit..... Marantz AV 7704 or the av8801 in Ur opinion. I have the option and there is £200 price difference.
My Marantz 8805 with Yamaha aventage 11 channel and with my Marantz mm7025 For extra power and the Panasonic dp-ub9000 Blu-ray player with kef reference speakers for a 7.3.6 atoms and Samsung 75inch 8k tv 📺 looks and sounds awesome. Keep the good work up youth man 👨
Hey Youthman ! What Would you Prefer ? The Marantz 7705 or the Emotiva XMC 2 ? Specially for Home Theater and listening to 2 Channel Stereo. Thanks for your help !
Emotiva is a bit more challenging to run DIRAC. Marantz is user friendly and pretty good for the money. Both have XLR outputs but I read they aren’t fully balanced
YOUTHMAN love all your reviews and your still excited by the products!! I am also jealous of your setup, while not the most outlandish, it is exactly how I would do mine if ONE OF MY DAMN KIDS WOULD EVER MOVE OUT!! 2 left but came back home again GRRRRR ! I have a huge house and every kid has at least one room claimed , even my dog has his own room!!
First let me say I always enjoy the energy and passion you put into your videos, specially during reviews, this is what makes this channel so special. What I like about Dolby Atmos is the flexibility of the 3D space, the more channels, the more the audio soundtrack will expand. This is an advantage that Dolby will always have against the other competitors. I have a collection of over 250 blu rays and one of my favorite Atmos movie is Terminator Genesys, the sound is just awesome because the Atmos channels are full with definition and detail, not loudness. Kudos for you✌️
Have my 7705 paired to a Monolith 9 channel. Running Klipsch THX ultra 2 in walls (LCR 504L and rear 502L), 4x cdt 5800 ii ceilings for Atmos and a PB16 ultra
Youthman watched The Divergent Series. This just proves that we will watch crappy movies just to experience great Dolby Atmos effects. That's why I own a copy of the Power Rangers (2017) movie in 4K. Garbage movie but great Atmos.
I'm glad to hear this is a positive experience. Now we just need a review on the Monolith amplifier. Someday when I upgrade my external amplifier, one of these will be considered .👍
What do you think if i buy marantz av 7705 with monolitch 7x200w and onkyo pa-mc 5500 150x9w for 7.2.4 set up.Right now i used denon avr x 6500h.Thank you.
Hi, thanks for your video.. What do you think is the best audiophile AV Pre/Pro + Amp combo for a 11 channel surround sound system (7 floor speakers and 4 ceiling speakers and 2 subs - 7.2.4 - my main 2-channel amp will be powering my front 2 speakers with the preamp HT bypass, so actually only need a 9 channel surround sound system.. but not sure if that is an option)? Right now I have a Marantz AVR and wanted to go to separates, but it's very hard for me to figure out what the best combo is - Marantz AV with Marantz amp or Marantz AV with Emotiva amp like in your video, or is it Anthem Pre/Pro with an Anthem Amp? So many choices and I dont see many people comparing these separates to see what the best combination is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Great informative video. I am purchasing a processor Marantz AV 8801 from Ebay but with out the amp. Crutchfield has the Audio Source AMP 1100VS Price at $649.00 with 12 channels 40 RMS per channel. How the marantz receiver can control the volume of each surround speaker in use with the amp.? I see no volume knob in most amps advertised. Help please.
Hey Youthman, after seeing the video. I have purchased the Marantz AV7705 and Emotiva XPA Seven-5-1s. I wanted the Monoprice but they don’t have a 230v option. I’ll be getting the Emotiva BasX A-500 for my heights & VOG channel.
Hey hey, great video (as usual). Have you given thought to upgrading your di-pole surround speakers as I hear your atmos would really come alive due to not scattering your sr, sb, sbr, sbl? I’ve recently changed mine...
Man I'm going to have to add those movies to the list to buy... Trying to spring for the 4k versions for when I upgrade my projector. Great description of everything. I'd love to jump into pre/pro someday!
for an average room of about 15-20m € either dedicated room or lounge I see too much I will spend 3000 euros in a previous plus another 2000e in an emotional stage..I do not know what those previews will give you to notice that difference as notorious as you describe .. .greetings from Spain
Rrtsvt Raptor I highly recommended Marantz. Keep in mind, if you go for a Yamaha (which is a great receiver btw) and you run YPAO which is the auto room correction, your subwoofer(s) will not go below 32 hz. That’s one of the bad things about Yamaha. If you care about bass, you will be disappointed with Yamaha. On the other hand, You Cannot go wrong with a Marantz. Hope this helps.
Our Little Cakery peq in the Yamaha is far more advanced then xt32. The Yamaha 3080 is an upgrade over the marantz sr8012. The Yamaha actually will have more output with subs after a manual eq then any marantz. Audessey is a great tool for beginners or people that don’t understand or have the abilities to adjust. The sr7013 is actually more in line with a Yamaha 880 as far as features and power. If you want the most bang for your buck the onkyo rz830 is it. I use one in a secondary setup and after coming from a marantz 7010 I was blown away on how much better the onkyo was.
Golden Gamers12 That’s your opinion and I disagree completely. Just you saying the 3080 is an upgrade over the SR8012 is honestly hilarious. Do your research and find out.
Our Little Cakery I’ve had all of them. Marantz 8012, denon 8500, Yamaha 3070 and many others. The one that won out by a lot was my integra drx 1.1. Absolutely incredible product with excellent power that never gets hot. The 8012 would burn your hand after running my canton Reference 3.2. 8012 just has a lower quality amp section with the Dac of a $500 avr. Of course all this information is an opinion but it would be nice to see people try better products. Hopefully Sound United doesn’t ruin onkyo, integra and pioneer like they have with denon and marantz. Of course I love seeing what youthman is up to and the journey that I have experienced many years ago. His journey is like many I’ve seen before and I can tell he’s almost at that next level. Some people get stuck at that entry level and stay satisfied which is actually great and saves you money. Also youthman power doesn’t work like that. The 3db increases when power is doubled is correct...... but speakers ask for power in a non linear way. For example your rs62ii surrounds will need 100 watts to achieve a certain dB at 4ohms at 90hz. Then only 10 watts to reach same dB at 3khz but then 130 watts to reach that same dB at another cycle. And so on. Hopefully that makes sense but that’s exactly why you need power that can handle a wide load. Exactly why 8012 gets so hot. Just can’t do that. Also you can look up a speaker like rf7ii. The true sensitivity is closer to 90-92db in room. Why people realize how much better they sound with power. If you use a low quality amp with rf7ii they have no bass or mids but they have piercing highs. Well thats because the horn has a natural boundary advance and gets louder with less power.
I have a 7.4.4 setup (Klipsch RP speakers and Monolith subs). I'm returning my Marantz SR7013 which I love and I've got the AV7705 and Outlaw Audio 7000x arriving this weekend. If it sounds even a little better I'll be happy cause my setup is already sounding great to me.
Hi Man, I'm a great fan of your videos. You got me solved a lot of my doubts. I'm starting a new project for my house and something I wanted to ask that, can I add amplifiers for all pre outs of receiver or only main speakers? I got Denon AVC-x6700H can I use Emotiva XPA-11 amp for all 11 speakers and a 2 channel amp for 2. subwoofer?
On the back of the 6700 you will see a section called preout. There is an RCA for each channel so yes you can use an XPA-11 for all of your speakers. Most subwoofers have built-in amplifier so you will not need a two channel amp. You would use one sub preout on the back of the Denon for each subwoofer to send a signal to the sub which will then be amplified by its own internal amplifier in the sub
When will Marantz release a sound processor/seperates that has native HDMI 2.1 , 8k, and features like auto low latency mode (ALLM), variable refresh rate (VRR), passthrough of 4K video at up to 120 frames per second and quick frame transport (QFT) that reduces input lag........?
Do you think that the 7705 will work just as well with an Emotiva A-500 and A-700 combo? I've got the Denon X4400H with the A-500 powering the main 5 channels and thinking about going separate, but since I'm also jumping from SVS Prime Center/Bookshelfs to Ultra Center/Bookshelfs, the total cost is a bit steep when going with the XPA series
Unfortunately this hobby isn’t cheap. But then again, which hobby is? I have not heard those model amps so I cannot day for sure but I have found upgrading from a receiver to separates made more of a difference than adding a separate amp to a receiver (and ai have had a few expensive 200x7 amps). Hope that helps
Hi, got a question. I have the SR8012 too and using 11-channels, and I am wondering if I pair up the SR8012 with a power amp such as the XPA-11 would it bypass the toroidal power and use the emotiva power amp or would it combine both for more watts?
The preouts in the SR8012 provide a non powered dignal to an external amp so the internal amp in the SR8012 would not be used. You can power some of your speakers with the Marantz (day the surrounds and Atmos speakers) and use a 3, 5 or 7ch amp to power your front or front and surrounds.
Just discovered your channel. I have a Marantz 7703 and have been examining getting a proper amp. At the time I bought the 7703, it was a stretch purchase and I didn't have money for a proper amp so I've been using two older receivers (Onkyo TX-SR805 and Denon 3805) as amps in the meantime. Emotiva is in my backyard (Nashville) and I've been looking at their amps for years. I'm debating about what number of channels to get in an Emotiva amp since while I need 11 channels (7.1.4), I already have an older McCormick DNA 0.5 at 100 wpc two channel amp driving my front mains. So I'm thinking of maybe just doing a 7 channel amp for the main speakers, keeping the McCormick and maybe getting a small two channel amp for the remaining pair. Like you, I have an ancient Parasound HCA-2200 two channel Class A 200 wpc amp but it's doing full duty in my two channel listening room.
We did a side by side demo of the SR8012, SR6013 and AV7705 in our theater, and while the sound improvements were noticeable on the 7705, the 8012 surprisingly had better video output. I called Marantz and they said they are the same chip, but we saw a clear difference on pan/sweeping shots with the 8012 being much much smoother and clearer. The AV7705 had the same output as the SR6013 which resulted in more flicker and blur during the test. The 8012 was much clearer and also seemed to have a tad more pop and depth to the image. All of this was a complete and total surprise to us as we just expected the video to be pass-through on all units. Our test were done using the same cables and sources along with matched settings on the Marantz units ...it doesn't make any sense to us, but our results were repeatable.
@@Youthman it's odd as both the 6013 and 7705 had the same issue and the 8012 was clean.... A easy test for pans/sweeps was to use Fellowship of the Ring Ext. around the 7min 30sec mark when the prologue ends and you are watching the map in The Shire when Bilbo starts narrating. We had noticeable flicker on the 7705/6013, but the 8012 was clean with the same setup and settings across. We are banging our heads on the wall trying to figure out why there is any kind of difference.
I agree! But in our tests On/Off with processing didn't matter. We assumed like most everyone else that the video would just be passthrough, but in our test the 8012 gave the best and smoothest picture.
300W, which is approx. 130db on the La Scalas, they definitely do sing la la la la(so loud that it will be considered the top 10 ways to become deaf) by the way it is definitely the opposite for you that the front stage needs a lot of power.
You are correct. That’s why when I added the Parasound HALO A52+ it did not make a significant difference. The Marantz AV7705 + Emotiva XPA-11 has made a significant difference but I feel it has way more to do with the AV7705 than the amp.
I am really confused to buy amplifire my home theater set up 9.2.6 my speaker Front klipsch r28f Centet klipsch rc 64lll Surround 4x klipsch rs62 Celling 4x polk audio Atmos firing klipsch.Rp140sa Front heights klipsch rp250s My receiver denon avrx6500h For my celling speaker i used AudioSourse amp210.thank you.
Seriously, you call this a review? The entire video you're describing sound effects of some B-movie.. BTW, Emotiva XPA-11 is a class-H crap with a switching power supply (class H is just like class ab but with auto-switching dc rail supply... The only way to make a good high-end multichannel AMP is to go class-D....
E Barbie also B-movies don’t make it to theaters. B-movies don’t receive 10 academy award nominations and win 6 of them. B-movies are not made with over $100 million budgets. Educate yourself some more before running your mouth. Troll
One movie that you should check out with your current setup is Overlord. Just the first 20 minutes of the movie is a great Dolby Atmos demo for your speakers. You’ll thank me ☺️☺️. As always, keep up the awesomeness work that you do!
I was about to buy 7705 but then got hold of Audio Science's negative reviews that put me off .. I was about to mate the Pre/Pro with MM7005 for my 5.1 setup .. Although, I haven't heard them myself, I can't afford to have such negative disregards to 7705 considering its price range. @Youthman and other geeks out there, shade some lights upon my confusions.
I cannot speak to Amir’s testing because I’m not an engineer and I do not have fancy test equipment. The most fancy equipment I have are my ears and my brain (which is pretty complex). I have owned the AV7705 and the AV7706 and both have performed flawlessly (unlike a few other processors I have reviewed) and they both sound incredible in my 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup. Keep in mind Amir tests in 2ch and is looking at numbers and data. Not everything that can be measured can be heard. Nothing wrong with wanting something that measures better in a certain area but what matters most to me is how does it sound in a real world environment. I have yet to see someone comment that they absolutely hate the 7705 or 7706 and it sounds like garbage. Scroll through the comments here to see that many others have shared their experiences with Marantz processors. Good luck with your decision.
@@Youthman I truly respect 👏 your opinion as I highly believe Marantz's credentials in their industry. Being a newbie, I should rather consider my ears, keeping those scientific numerical figures. Do you think the Marantz MM7055 would mash up well with the potentiality of 7705 ? As options like EMOTIVA, OUTLAW or other geniuses aren't available around me.
I haven’t heard Marantz amps but the only thing that concerns me is 140 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.08% THD, with 2 channels driven If it’s rated with 2ch driven, that typically means it will be less if you connect more than 2 speakers to it. I typically like to have 200wpc with all channels driven but if your speakers are efficient, you may not need 200wpc
@@Youthman I have the JBL ES100 at the fronts, ES30 at the surrounds, followed by ES series Center and Sub Woofer. My fronts are rated at 93db with 125w at 8ohms power ratings.. Nothing extraordinary I reckon, still it drives the juice out of my poor ONKYO 646.. 😥 Hope, MM7055 meets my expectations as I could grab both 7055 and 7705 at a great package deal .. Thanks a lot for all your inputs.. I really appreciate you took your time out to reply.. ✌ 😊🙏
What's up youthman? Great video! Man I really love watching your videos. The smile on your face tells it all. I never seen any of them movies. I definitely got to check them out especially the way you described it. Has to be awesome. You make me want to go in my theater room and watch some atmos movies. Just trying to hold off watching any movies until I get my 2 pb1000 subs. Keep up the great work.
It Has been almost a year since I reviewed the Parasound so I would not be able to tell you how they compare since I have not compared them side-by-side. I doubt most people would be able to identify either one of them in a double blind test
I asked this question a while back. But came to the conclusion that it depends on where your preference is. If you are leaning towards audiophilia, the parasound will be attractive as the sound is warm. If you are into movies, the emotiva is the sensible choice as it provides a neutral sound which is good for dialogues.
Hello Youthman Do I need to combine the Emotiva to the marantz reciever or is it optional? I will be running a 7.1.4 setup. 2 klipsch rp-6000, rp-504 center speaker, 2 rp-502s, 12-inch subwoofer and 4 ceiling speakers. Thanks man 🙏🏾
The Marantz SR8015 has a beefy power supply. I previously ran a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup on the SR8012 and it sounded incredible. An amplifier would be optional.
@@Youthman Thanks Youthman. The thing is that Im willing to get the AV7705, and Im not sure whether it has a beefy power supply like the SR8012 to power all 7.1.4. If yes, Do I need to combine it with Emotiva amp or its just optional? I need your advice with that 🙏🏾 Thanks.
@@Youthman Hello Youthman✋🏾 Sorry to bother you again 😅 Im thinking of getting the Marantz SR6014 because its much cheaper than the SR8012. The thing is im not sure whether it can power up a 7.1.4 or a 5.1.4 set up. I hope you can clarify this for me 🙏🏾 Thanks!
I was just watching a review of the Emotiva 11 channel amp by Spare Change on UA-cam. He stated the the 65 watts per channel was a little weak for some of the larger surround speakers. I know you have fairly large surround speakers, have you noticed anything like that? I have the five channel Emotiva right now, if I have larger surrounds would it be better to buy a 7 channel and have two amps?
Hi Nicholas. It's not really about "large" vs "small" speakers. It more has to do with sensitivity. My Klipsch LaScalas are 104dB with 1 watt at 1 meter and my surrounds are Klipsch RS62 II which have a sensitivity of 97dB with 1watt at 1 meter. The Emotiva was able to drive my 7.2.4 Klipsch system with ease. If you have speakers that are say 89dB sensitivity, it would take 3 - 4 times the power that my speakers need to hit the same spl level. You have to double the wattage to gain 3dB in volume. Hope that helps.
@@Youthman thank you so much for solidifying that for me because I was tempted to buy another emotiva and have two of them, but you convinced me to do otherwise. Thanks!
@@FCCENM Honestly in my setup, I didn't hear any difference between the Emotiva and the Monolith. Monolith is made by ATI which is known for incredibly well built amps. But Emotiva has made their name on their amps.
Awesome video and review! I have the 7704 with a couple of different amps and absolutely love it! You might want to check out using the XLR connections too. When I swapped out my RCA cables for the XLR, there was a noticeable difference/ reduction in hum and buzz from my system and it sounded even better. I'm looking forward to seeing your next reviews!
Thanks. I don’t have any buzz or hum so I’m hesitant to spend $100 on XLR cables with the possibility of hearing no difference when it sounds amazing using RCA cables
You do not need to spend $100 on xlr cables. Check Amazon. It's worth it. I currently have the marantz av7005, upgrading to the av7705 this month, connected to emotiva xpa 5 Gen1. When I went from rca to xlr the difference was night and day for me. More dynamic. Quit was quiter, loud was louder, and detail was improved. And I only did it because the connections were there, I figured why not. Happy I did. Great review btw.
One thing to note is Emotiva reverses their XLR connectors - it’s not truly balanced. You have to go to their fully differential amps for true balanced XLR. I paired my 7705 with a Monolith 9 channel amp using XLR. Was going to get the XPA9 until I found that out
@@gufiaito69able short answer is you cant power any speakers from the av7705 because it doesn't have any amplifiers. Longer answer is the RCA and XLR outputs are both active simultaneously so technically you could send a signal to up to 22 channels. Yes those channels would be duplicates 11/11 but its possible. I have an 11 channel system with 4 LEFT/RIGHT speakers. Similar to bi-amping if you know what that means. So 13 speakers total.
The difference with the SR8012 and AV7705 with the setup menu is that when the sound output is selected to the 2nd option (other than TV) the 8012 will display AVR but the AV7705 will display AVP. And you know why the AV7705 has that musicality? #becausemusicmatters
Hey man, maybe you've already done this. I'm using my xbox one s as a cheap 4k Dolby atmos bluray/media player. I gotta say, spotify plays music on a howl nother level when atmos is enabled on the xbox! If you haven't, you should try it out!
good morning Youthman & fellow audio enthusiasts thank you for your review I have a Marantz 7013 running 9 speakers 6x ceiling & fr, fl & centre, I also have 2 x pb ultras as well, it does run hot to say the least so would it be advisable to get a power amp to take the load off ? and also put a smile on my face as I could see it added something in your theatre lol I was thinking of the Emotiva 9 3rd sen or what ever you could recommend many thanks for any help
I have added a few amps to the SR8012 and although it sounded good, it wasn’t a huge difference. It wasn’t until I went from the SR8012 to the AV7705 processor that’s I heard a significant improvement.
you need to watch Fury Road in full ASAP, I watch it every weekend almost all the way through on my dolby atmos set up. Amazing bass as well. I love when Max first starts up his car and you hear it coming from the ceiling. Its at the very beginning. As well when the voices are speaking to him and they're bouncing around the whole room, its like you're in his head (WHERE ARE YOU MAX). Also when they're chasing him through the citadel always makes my heart race. The first 5 minutes are amazing and i always use it to show off my set up. Friends sometimes tell me that it looks like the people are about to pop off the screen at them. also the soundtrack is FANTASTIC!
Hi Youthman, i have some question here but out of the topic, so my apologies. You have tried both marantz and denon, did you find any difference in its sound signature specially to music? does it have any characteristic on both like the other one is a bit warmer and the other one is brighter? Thanks.

Great review man. Spot on.
I own both the 7704 and 7705 with Emotiva amps.
They are a great combination for sure.
The XPA 11 is a good way to go when it comes to space.
I have the room and have mine split into 3 amps.
XPA DR3 for fronts. 450W X 3
XPA 2 for tower rears. 300WX2
XPA 5 for 4 large in ceiling ATMOS 260WX4
I am very happy with the performance and I would now love to see if the 8805 is worth the upgrade.
Any difference between the 7704 and 7705?
Thank you kindly
Yamaha AVENTAGE pleas can you get that one and do a comper simaler to this ? :)
You should do a video on your Marantz settings.
Real question is, did you try the xpa11 with your 8012? That will give a good a/b comparison with regard to Pre/pro vs AVR.
Lester D I actually just got a monolith 5x to add to my AVRX4400H....maybe I’ll do a video about it....jk
That TV36 looks beast!
I hope you decide to get the pre/pro 7705 or even the 8805
Thanks. I’m glad to hear you had the same results as me.
Our Little Cakery hi I have a SR8012 as well, what improvement would you say you have over the 8012 with the 8805 and what %. as I paid 5k for the 8012 in Australia to go to the 8805 and the Emotiva SPA11 would cost 11k
Roman Lewandowski
You have an impressive unit.
Our Little Cakery Thanks for letting me know you thoughts its just a shame I can’t try it at home. What type of speakers do you have

I have Definitive Technology Mythos ST-L for my FL and FR, CS9080 for Center, SR9080 for SB Left and SB Right, Pro Monitor 800 for SR Left and SR Right. Also Dual SVS PB16 Ultra Subwoofers
Everything is Definitive Technology except the subs
good youthman I wanted to ask you a question, how do you connect the 7705 with the stages by rca or xlr? ... do you think that connecting by RCA would have an advantage?
EDIT: i just pulled the specs of the LA SCALA II
Its says that they are 105dB @ 2.83V / 1m
It also says that
power handling is 100W / 400W
, so 100w continuous and 200w peak, because that's how MAX power is calculated: 2x the contentious power.
and they can do a MAXIMUM SPL 121dB, which is at peak watts or 200w in this case.
if we do the math, 105db to 120db is only 32watts. so 121db should be around 43watts.
WTF ?
if the above specs are correct, they should do 126db at 128watts. and above 130db at 400w max peak.

I have my PS4 and Pioneer UHD-LX500 connected to the Marantz AV7705, then HDMI our to my projector
Run everything thru the AV
Yup. Mad Max Fury Road is still my favorite atmos track
Can’t wait for the monolith x11 to hear the outcome better, same, worse than the emotiva
Thanks. I too am curious
@@Youthman sounds like you are expecting to hear a difference at all.
Hahaha that’s too funny. Thank you for the kind words
Kudos for you✌️
Thank you for the kind words
I Love audio marantz a have model nd 8006 end pm 8006 speakers bowers wilkins 702 s2 very good Sound

Have my 7705 paired to a Monolith 9 channel. Running Klipsch THX ultra 2 in walls (LCR 504L and rear 502L), 4x cdt 5800 ii ceilings for Atmos and a PB16 ultra
Awesome setup
Youthman watched The Divergent Series. This just proves that we will watch crappy movies just to experience great Dolby Atmos effects.
That's why I own a copy of the Power Rangers (2017) movie in 4K. Garbage movie but great Atmos.
I actually enjoyed the Divergent series.
I actually like the power rangers movie. Turned out to be a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
We need that Emotiva XPA-11!! 💯💯
I have been very pleased with it.
Well, there goes the Marantz SR8012!
Haha! I’m definitely considering it. I love it but there’s something about the 7705 that I really like

@@Youthman Hello again tnx for ur prompt response. Would the Emotiva do well with the svs atmos and Bose surround speakers?
Simply put the 7705 is amazing!! Thank You for a great review.
Hey Youthman quick question. Marantz 7705 or Emotiva XMC-2?
My experience with Emotiva processors has been buggy at best. My 7705 was rock solid.
@@Youthman thank you I appreciate the fast response. Great channel love the vids.
Hi, did you use external amps for the 8012 as well.
@Youthman Can you do a review of the Yamaha Rx A3080 please i need help choosing between the Marantz SR7013
Rrtsvt Raptor
I highly recommended Marantz.
Golden Gamers12
That’s your opinion and I disagree completely.
John Smith good for you
Nice. In yor's home theater you need try Datasat, Theta, Acurus, Lexicon, this is a completely different level.
Acurus was going to send me their ACT4 and A2007 but they stopped communicating altogether with me about 8 months ago.
And how does the 7705 compare to the SR7013?
We will find out in time
Do you think that the 7705 will work just as well with an Emotiva A-500 and A-700 combo?
Too much talking no demo
You won’t find many demos on my channel.
Glad you found the channel! Sounds like you have several options to consider
I am staying with anthem MRX &720 and using a HD 2x4 mini DSP for my 2 subs
I have the Marantz 1504 and my question is. Do i leave dynamic eq on? Or what settings you recommend?
As seen in this video, I prefer Dynamic EQ On. ua-cam.com/video/6Z0svzYSAEM/v-deo.html
I’m not seeing any difference in the video quality. It sounds like you had an issue with the Marantz
TV should do the video processing. Shut all that processing and upscale garbage off on the AVR/PRE-PRO

I haven’t heard Marantz amps but the only thing that concerns me is
140 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.08% THD, with 2 channels driven
If it’s rated with 2ch driven, that typically means it will be less if you connect more than 2 speakers to it.
Hope, MM7055 meets my expectations as I could grab both 7055 and 7705 at a great package deal ..
Thanks a lot for all your inputs..
I really appreciate you took your time out to reply.. ✌ 😊🙏
How do you know the Emotiva powered your setup no problem? Do you base it on the fact that you were able to put it loud and not hear any distortion?
Yes, the Emotiva never sounded strained or distorted, even powering all 11 of my speakers at high volume.
@@Youthman thanks. great videos
Thank you
What's up youthman? Great video! Man I really love watching your videos. The smile on your face tells it all. I never seen any of them movies. I definitely got to check them out especially the way you described it. Has to be awesome. You make me want to go in my theater room and watch some atmos movies. Just trying to hold off watching any movies until I get my 2 pb1000 subs. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Decibal. I’m glad you enjoy the videos
When you edit: the music is way too loud compared to your speech level, match them.
So 7705 is better than SR8012?
Tuxedo Max
Yes I have owned both.
Receivers are a compromise compared to separates.
Power and quality of processing.
The 8012 is a great receiver too.
hey youth im trying build a theater for myself, waht is your viewing distance from your screen? and size?
Screen is 150” diagonal in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. 9’ viewing distance from front row, 14’ from the back. Absolutely love it!
Can you make a video for how to connect the preamplifier to amplifier? because i have av8805 and pioneer 901 and I don’t know how to connect it thanks
Should be able to
Thanks
Because most of the people don’t know how to connect it
Must of them said you need amp for itch speaker is that right
Youthman.. Which amp sounds better? The Emotiva or the Parasound?
It Has been almost a year since I reviewed the Parasound so I would not be able to tell you how they compare since I have not compared them side-by-side. I doubt most people would be able to identify either one of them in a double blind test
One isn't really better sound than the other. Just different. Emotiva are bright sounding and Parasound are warmer.
I asked this question a while back. But came to the conclusion that it depends on where your preference is. If you are leaning towards audiophilia, the parasound will be attractive as the sound is warm. If you are into movies, the emotiva is the sensible choice as it provides a neutral sound which is good for dialogues.
Hello Youthman
Do I need to combine the Emotiva to the marantz reciever or is it optional?
I need your advice with that 🙏🏾
Thanks.
The AV7705 so it is a processor and not an AVR. Processors do not have internal amplifiers so they MUST be paired with an external amp or amps
@@Youthman Thanks! 👌🏾
@@Youthman Hello Youthman✋🏾
Sorry to bother you again 😅
Im thinking of getting the Marantz SR6014 because its much cheaper than the SR8012. The thing is im not sure whether it can power up a 7.1.4 or a 5.1.4 set up. I hope you can clarify this for me 🙏🏾 Thanks!
great video thanks for your thoughts.....some great products
Thanks John
Great video as always Youth Man!
Happy 4th brother!!!
Thanks David! You too sir
Thanks!
I have the Monolith 11X in my setup and it has been great and provides a more balanced output (200x3 + 100x8)
@@Youthman do you prefer that over the Emotiva?
@@FCCENM Honestly in my setup, I didn't hear any difference between the Emotiva and the Monolith. Monolith is made by ATI which is known for incredibly well built amps. But Emotiva has made their name on their amps.
Same goes here.Waiting for Monolith Youthman
Hoping to have the Unboxing / overview video in a few days
@@Youthman Ok,will wait. Thks

Was going to get the XPA9 until I found that out
Bertstare I have heard that before
get a room :p
Haha
Youthman: 11ch in a single chassis is a big benefit
SR8012: Am I a joke to you?
Haha
Do you mean 8805?
I’m not sure what you are asking. I have the AV7705 in for review. I have not heard the AV8805 yet
@@Youthman I wasn't being disrespectful, I have the Marantz 8805 and honestly thought that you had misspoke when you're saying 7705. My apologies.
@@Youthman please review the AV8805, it's the flagship pre amp from marantz... please!!!!!
The 8805 is on my list to review
I have the AV7705 with a Monolith 7x and an Emotiva A-700 powering 13 speakers. I love it!
You can power 13 speakers with the 7705?
@@gufiaito69able short answer is you cant power any speakers from the av7705 because it doesn't have any amplifiers. Longer answer is the RCA and XLR outputs are both active simultaneously so technically you could send a signal to up to 22 channels. Yes those channels would be duplicates 11/11 but its possible. I have an 11 channel system with 4 LEFT/RIGHT speakers. Similar to bi-amping if you know what that means. So 13 speakers total.
You can power zero speakers with the 7705...it does not have internal amplification
@@Youthman sorry that is not what I meant can it processes 13 channel's
@@gufiaito69able no.... only 11 channels
Hello Youthman what do you think about the marantz 7704? For $1599
I have not reviewed that model but certainly love my 7705
Youthman the 7704 is discontinued by tha manufacture I think the only difference is doesn’t have imax enhanced!
Sami Debs Ah. I could care less about IMAX Enhanced. I have yet to see the value in it. Doubtful it will ever take off
good morning Youthman & fellow audio enthusiasts
thank you for your review
I have a Marantz 7013 running 9 speakers 6x ceiling & fr, fl & centre, I also have 2 x pb ultras as well, it does run hot to say the least so would it be advisable to get a power amp to take the load off ? and also put a smile on my face as I could see it added something in your theatre lol I was thinking of the Emotiva 9 3rd sen or what ever you could recommend
many thanks for any help
For sure Carlos!
I’ve been at this for a long time and absolutely believe pre/pro amp combinations are the way to go. And the Marantz are very good
I can’t believe it has taken me this long to experience it for myself 😀
Hi Youthman, i have some question here but out of the topic, so my apologies. You have tried both marantz and denon, did you find any difference in its sound signature specially to music? does it have any characteristic on both like the other one is a bit warmer and the other one is brighter? Thanks.
I didn’t do a direct AB between the two and don’t do a lot of 2ch listening with it. Marantz is typically known for having the “Music Chip”
@@Youthman Big thanks, your'e the man.
