    one thing i would like to see is how you set the gains on these types of amps. how do you listen for distortion, do you just rely on the pre-amp to run sound tests and auto level? would love some in depth info on this especially amps that do have gain controls. im an old school car audio guy and use an oscilloscope to match my gain level to my radio's pre-amp output. thumbs up for the video!

    The amplifier labels are actually a bad idea. The labels from the pre amp are of course important but it easier to connect whichever port is closest so you dont end up with a rats nest. Ill say this though.... your idea of using different color cables is a VERY good idea. Most people use stickers but the multiple color cable goes to a new level of brilliance

    Well I made the big jump and now own the Emotiva RMC-1, and two Gen 3 amps powering my 7.2.6 system. Putting it all together now in a Star Tech 42 u rack. I also purchased the Emotiva ERC-4 player and the panasonic UHD UB9000 for my movies. I am still up in the air over a projector. I have a 120" screen right now with and Epson but need to do some upgrading being that I just spent my kids college money lol . I am also changing all my speaker wire out and doing a little upgrading to 10 gauge just because of the power from the amps. But its all going pretty good except for my bank account but hey we only live once. Just a question what do you use your power conditoner for, I hear not to use it on the amps and really keep it for the smaller stuff like the ERC and the Panisonic DVD player . Is that what you do? And what else would you add are needs to be added?

    Hi do you think xlr give a better sound than rca
    As I understand the xlr is designed for longer cable runs and wouldn’t have any benefit under a 10ft length unless you live close to a power station that’s causing ( Inference )
    Most people only use 0.5m - 2m cables so do we need the xlr cable :)

    Youth man, If I have an emotiva amplifier preouts connected to my AV receiver, Can you tell me if the speaker wires have to be connected to the amplifier to get the power from the amplifier or can they stay connected to the av receiver getting power from the pre outs amplifications?

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  3 роки тому

      Great question. Think of it this way, your pre-outs do not have any power, they are sending a signal, just the content from that channel to an amplifier. The amplifiers job is to take that signal and amplify it and send that amplified sound out to your speakers. So you either have to use the internal amplification of an AVR and the speaker terminals from the AVR or use the preouts from your AVR connected into an amplifier and then out from the amplifier’s speaker terminals to your speakers.
      You also can do combos. If you had say an XPA3, you could use the preouts for Left, Center and Right from your AVR into the XPA3 and speaker terminals from the XPA to your LCR speakers and let your AVR power the rest of your speakers.
      Hope that helps

    In my opinion colored cables are way easier to use for if the preamp and the amp are far away from each other

    Always love ur videos but I'm a rookie when it comes to home theater I need ur expertise I have a yamaha avr-3010 receiver I want to pair it with a emotiva home theater amplifier and don't know which one to buy plus I need one that is the same height as my receiver because I don't have the room on my entertainment center please help me thank-you plus I need help with the setup

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 роки тому

      Thank you Andre. Emotiva makes great amplifiers, which model depends on your budget, how many channels you want to power with it and looking on their website to find an amplifier that has similar height dimensions

      I have owned 3 amps over the years, all 200 watts/ch or more. Since my Klipsch speaker’s are so efficient, adding an amp to a receiver didn’t make much difference in my setup.
      Moving to separates (Preamp + amplifier) however did make a significant difference.
      I think the preamp has much more to do with the sound than the amp does.

    Do we really need a video on how to plug cables in from one to the other?

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  5 років тому

      You don’t but out of 34,000 subscribers and a ton more watching that are not subscribers, there are plenty of people out there who do not know how to connect them. Trust me, I see their comments

    Dude, I love your content and I'm a subscriber but you really don't need to explain what "balanced" means at the beginning of the video. Anyone who has shelled out $8k for these 2 components alone surely knows what "balanced" means. I mean you can't even hook up the RMC-1 any other way.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  5 років тому +2

      Keep in mind out of the 35,000 subscribers, there are plenty of guys that will watch the video and have never heard of balanced or unbalanced. I want my videos to be applicable to the novice as well as the audiophile.

    Im sure this video will help someone.... but showing viewers who are "into home theater" how to connect an amp is hilariously basic lol...

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  5 років тому +1

      You are correct but keep in mind, there are 34,000 subscribers on this channel and WAY more people viewing that are not subscribers. How many of those 50,000+ or more viewers do you think are new to home theater or have always owned an AVR but are considering upgrading to separates.

      @@Youthman i can certainly understand that. Any chance of adding a time stamp menu so those of us who choose can skip ahead?
