Awesome, I’m exploring getting separates!! Yay I’m in the research stage. I’m looking at a Emotiva processor and the Monolith amp. I still need to install and run wires for 4 in ceiling Atmos speakers.
Does the extra voltage output you get with XLR’s really make that much of a difference?? On my Emotiva XMC-1 the output with unbalanced connections is 5V RMS where using balanced connections would give me 11V RMS.

Youth man, If I have an emotiva amplifier preouts connected to my AV receiver, Can you tell me if the speaker wires have to be connected to the amplifier to get the power from the amplifier or can they stay connected to the av receiver getting power from the pre outs amplifications?
Great question. Think of it this way, your pre-outs do not have any power, they are sending a signal, just the content from that channel to an amplifier. The amplifiers job is to take that signal and amplify it and send that amplified sound out to your speakers. So you either have to use the internal amplification of an AVR and the speaker terminals from the AVR or use the preouts from your AVR connected into an amplifier and then out from the amplifier’s speaker terminals to your speakers. You also can do combos. If you had say an XPA3, you could use the preouts for Left, Center and Right from your AVR into the XPA3 and speaker terminals from the XPA to your LCR speakers and let your AVR power the rest of your speakers. Hope that helps
