    Uuh, coming from a 12 year addict who got clean in 2016, who cares if you're not considered clean and sober on Subs. The fact of the matter is, is that you're an addict. The drugs you were doing were going to kill you. Suboxone will not. The whole point of an addict being on Suboxone is to quit taking other opiates and to be able to live a happy, manageable life. It doesn't matter if you're on subs for a month or for the rest of your life. You're an addict, plain and simple. At least being addicted to Suboxone are going to survive being an addict, be able to live a normal, healthy, happy life.

    I dont even care whether i am considered sober by others. Im all about quality of life. Nearly 4 years ago I would use rain puddle water to shoot up if it were the only thing available and that wasnt even my lowest bottom. I tried to get clean dozens and dozens of times on every method but suboxone. Never lasted 2 weeks. I finally tried suboxone and here i am 4 years later, feeling like my "old self" from before i ever used. People dont even believe me when i tell them what i did. Yeah, ive been driven out of meetings and called a fraud. Been told ive deluded myself and im still in active addiction. Really? I've got a stable job, decent health, trust of my family, a car, a roof, motivation to pursue my passions, and a serene mind that all say otherwise. Im not going to change something that works to fit inside someone else's narrow mind. Not when the stakes are life and death.

    • @alexgsharp
      @alexgsharp 9 місяців тому

      I’m glad to hear this and the same from other people, some of whom are long term opiate addicts and some who are unfortunate new opiate addicts (such as myself). I can personally testify to the fact that Suboxone has given me my life back. I can do everything I used to be completely unable to when hooked on fent. I’ve regained my sense of physical and mental well being, I’m running and swimming and lifting weights again, I sleep normally, and most importantly, it removed the sheer agony of being dope sick, something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I never considered myself addicted to anything, but my unfortunate adoption of opiate use has made me realize that I am one, and I’ve made peace with that. One valuable thing I’ve gained from my journey is empathy for all people struggling with opiate addiction. I used to wonder why people would utterly decimate their lives to the point of homelessness, overdose, and death. I recreationally dabbled with various things and I am here to preach to anyone who will listen that opiates are the very drug which will cause you to lose everything. Growing up in the Reagan years, I thought the drug most likely to do that was cocaine, and maybe cocaine can derail anyone who becomes addicted, but opiates are an equal opportunity life destroyer. It affects every possible segment of society, and can drive the most accomplished, successful, and educated person to the brink of total destruction just as easily as someone who was raised in poverty and surrounded by illicit drug use, and it does. Rich or poor, college educated or not, opiates affect every segment of society. I hate our puritanical recovery culture which judges someone who recovers with Suboxone so harshly even when that person has clearly regained their former functionality in every way: they aren’t lying or stealing, losing jobs, homes, friends, or family, all because Suboxone has saved them. Why must one be judged for a prescription medicine which helps them regain normalcy? Do I need to seek removing Suboxone use from my life when it literally saved it because some 12 stepper lays a guilt trip on me? Do diabetics who rely on insulin to survive need to wean themselves off of that? No doctor would advise that and Suboxone users should be treated the same way in my opinion.

    I really want to get off suboxone. It helped me alot. Havnt touched opioids or any kind of drug or med sense being on suboxone. However. I feel like iv gotten what i need to from suboxone. Getting off of them though is basically the exact withdrawal as opioids. Which sucks. I feel like it lasts way longer too

    so your not sober. You can't be taking something to replace what took before and say your sober. It's like if I quit smoking and vaping and was chewing nicorette instead.

    • @djLagwayEnjoyer
      @djLagwayEnjoyer Рік тому

      You are sober though. It doesn’t get you high, it just blocks withdraw symptoms from taking fetty, heroin, pain pills, etc. I would consider you sober for sure since it has no effect on your cognitive function or anything like that.

    • @djaaron2426
      @djaaron2426 Рік тому

      Can you get high on Suboxone? I've never gotten high and I started on a high dose in the beginning. It's a tool to get sober. So you can feel normal and not be panicking because your dope sick. You have the ability to work on getting off dope and then Suboxone. Like to stop smoking and risking lung deterioration so you would switch to nicorette.

    • @XCI5ION
      @XCI5ION Рік тому +1

      @@djaaron2426 I don't think so, I never tried it so I can't say. I'm lucky as a former polydrug user that I was never addicted to anything or did anything hard. I'm just saying that in my honest opinion sobriety to me means not taking anything regardless of if it gets you high. I guess subjective in what you consider sobriety to be. Hopefully the therapy works for you and one day you can stop taking that too. I quit doing all drugs a few years ago and hanging around with people who are into that, even quit smoking weed. I'm still working on alcohol and nicotine but it's tough. The only thing I would exclude from my definition of real sobriety would be mushrooms once every few years because they are natural and really help with mental health.

    I love when doctors speak on this issue when they have no idea what the hell they’re talking about. They’ve never been through it themselves, so what the hell do they know about it. Being on Suboxone is the same shit as taking the pills every single day. You are physically dependent upon this drug. If you don’t take it, you get sick just as if you weren’t taking the pills that you want this work. It is true you trade one addiction for the other. It’s the same goddamn thing. I know this because I am stuck on it! And if I don’t have enough, I physically get sick just like when I was doing pills. And if I don’t take it on time, I start going through with drawls just as if I was withdrawing from the pills. It’s the same goddamn thing same exact symptoms same exact feeling same exact shit going through my head.

    • @angeljohnson4562
      @angeljohnson4562 11 місяців тому +1

      Maybe your dose isn't high enough for maintenance. I personally don't get a high feeling from it like you would with methadone but everyone is different. I can also go a day or two before feeling sick. So I'm able to have some on standby in case I can't make it to dose.

    Sober for almost 2 years. Suboxone was my bridge across the pit that I needed to cross to get to the other side where I now enjoy sobriety.
    If you work for it and truly have psychological sobriety then Suboxone is NOT hard you get off of. You just have to taper off, usually with a doctor's help, to avoid physical withdrawals. It's only hard up get off of if you're substituting it for working a program and working on yourself.

      You either are an addict who don't want to get clean or you have never experienced addiction either yourself or close family or friend.
      Taking medication for a disease is not a bad thing. Are you going to make a diabetic feel bad for taking medication to help control his/her disease? Bet you wouldn't. A disease is a disease regardless. STOP MAKING PEOPLE FEEL GUILTY OR FEEL LIKE THEY ARE BAD FOR TAKING A MEDICATION THAT HELPS CONTROL THEIR DISEASE.
