I'm literally weaning down off Subs right now (at 2mg) after 7 years and doing good. Its helped me change my life fir the better. I know it can be somewhat controversial between addicts, but I feel it does far FAAARRR more good than bad, and it has its negatives of course, but as far as pros, it allows addicts to establish a positive, and regular life routine, to separate from and cut off negative influences/dealers subsequently removing your access to other drugs, it deals with cravings without getting you high(for the most part, it IS an opioid), it prevents addicts from being able to be effected by any other opiate for (up to*) 72 hours after 1 regular dose, it's very safe compared to other opiates and it's subjectively easier to wean and stop than other opiates. It's so much better for an addict to be on Suboxone, it's chemically almost perfectly designed for treating opiate addiction in every way. It's biggest con, ironically, is simply that its an opioid itself and is addictive.

Clean for four years. And where I live, I have read comments from about 100 other people who have gotten off of street drugs, and stayed off. For years, and many people, indefinitely. The only problem now, is insurance companies refusing to cover it, so when people start working, they cannot afford it. That is a problem. But for her to be ashamed is not right.

Suboxone saved my life. I used to eat 400mg+ OxyContin a day. Probably would’ve ended up on dope, and probably would have ODed over time. People who say Suboxone is the same as heroin or a crutch are idiots and completely out of touch with reality.
Do you know somebody who has died as a result of fetanyl laced dope? Well, if they were taking Suboxone, they’d still be with us.
I have a BA, a Master’s Degree, taught Special Ed for 7 years and am an RF engineer and living a completely normal life. I still take Suboxone to this day, and will continue to do so. It’s not the fear of getting off it and withdrawing, it’s the fear that I will relapse and die. Suboxone doesn’t make you high, doesn’t make you nod off, all it does is satisfies all cravings for opiates - and alcohol. Since starting Suboxone over 10 years ago, I haven’t had the urge to drink once. I am stone cold sober, to the point where some days I even forget to take it. Yeah, it sucks to have to commute to a doctor every 4 weeks, but at the end of the day, it is entirely worth it.
If you are on pills or dope and you want to live, Suboxone will save your life.

Robert knows what he’s talking about … we have a main nerve running from the brain around the organs to the stomach. When your on opiates that nerve is suppressed which is why our breathing slows & sleep changes & appetite ect. That’s why when you w/d it all goes to crap. Robert I have hopped on & off multiple times from all types of opiates & for some reason sometimes you do get lucky & w/d is not nearly as bad.. Maybe just the sweats & feeling blah but other times it’s like hell within hours & your sicker than a dog . Not sure why we get lucky sometimes but I always am grateful for it

That's cause you reach a ceiling with subs. Your body is saturated with it and doesn't know the difference between 4/8/16 because it's absorbed as much as it can after a certain amount. The one guys right about 2mg. When you start to go below that it gets rough. You'll be looking onward to your doses more. I remember get down to .5mgs and I could never just stop it. So I switched to kratom and been on that shit for the past 6 years. Was on subs for 7 years before that. I daydream about what it was like to feel life in the past because I'm just numb all the time. I started heavy drinking when I was 19 and since then I've never truly been sober in about 16 years.

it is a substitute medication that causes its own withdrawal and everything and the withdrawal can be extended and compounded a bit but it definitely works for long term heroin addiction but be careful cuz it will make you complacent and ruin your teeth from not brushing and flossing. I learned a lot about the damn medicine after 10 years of being on it, glad I am finally off of it because I can't live that way anymore but when I took it I found out I couldn't swallow it because it just caused all these negative side effects like terrible constipation, nausea and bad metabolism problems. Best way to take it is just holding it in your mouth then spitting it out. But real talk if you've never been on heroin for more than a week or so its literally not necessary and something like kratom can be used instead. I did opiates for 7yrs, I've now been on Subs for 7yrs, & I have a regular life now, except I can definitely feel the long-term side effects playing out in my body & mind. I sure do appreciate it, I feel like I would've died had I not gotten it, especially since it helped me quit opiates just before the importation of phentanyl from China to Mexico & then into the U.S. I wish I could get off the subs, but it would absolutely destroy the routine that I've been able to build with it. It's mostly the methods by which it is available. Meaning, I go to doctor, once a month, & they prescribe it, & then I pick it up, all for free (because I'm native American & living in the right area). I don't have to chase the pills/H, I don't have to spend tons of $$$ on both the drug & that gas to find it. Don't have to waste the hours looking for it, don't have to be around those people. Don't have to do anything illegal, so never in jail. Don't ever miss work. So there's alotta benefits & alotta specific things that had to fall into place perfectly for me to even be able to get it. When I first switched over I didn't have any routine, & no job, so I wouldn't have been able to pay for the script, & this hospital didn't even have a Suboxone program, I was being treated for hepatitis, which was another free thing the Indians paid for, almost $100k worth of pills, don't ask me why they should cost so much, I guess to pay off the research it took to make it...? Anyway, I was actually the first person in a program that made ght have started because I casually mentioned to my doctor that I bought subs off the street to try to quit, she took it to the board & they approved it, & she became the lead person in charge of the program, called me back in & I started it regularly (every day, same amount), & that's what finally made me feel confident enough to not need the harder real opiates ever again, although, I was thinking if everything was the exact same, but they replaced the subs with H or pills, I think I would be doing just as well, actually I'd be doing better, because H & pills gave me MASSIVE amounts of energy, to do lots of manual labor, & since I'm a contractor that equals more money, because after taking subs for 7yrs I have basically NO energy, NO motivation, NO ambition, I never go out of the house, other than to work, occasionally. Yeah, I kinda just wish they'd prescribe the actual drugs, I've already destroyed my mind & body. By all definitions I should actually be dead, so just let me take the real sh*t. I'll still g t on with my life, & I'll make more $ for my family before I really do kick the bucket. Who's it gonna hurt? Just apply all the normal rules we apply to alcohol, don't get f'd up & drive....that's about it really.

No joke I 100% know what you're saying. I've been on Subutex for pushing 12 years now or more. When I first started it within the first four or five years I was fine. But these last couple years for some reason I feel like I'm floating through life with no direction. I can't even describe it. I used to love going to the doctor and knowing that I had my medication to be there as my crutch and now every time it's time for me to go back I am disgusted and angry. I don't even remember what it feels like to feel normal. I know this isn't it. I can't really feel much of anything while on this medication. I guess it's different for everyone. But I'm hoping I can make the push to get off in the next year.

This medication is meant for _hardcore_ drug users. Ones who used heroin or fentanyl etc. Not for Norco's like myself & the doctor I went to who first prescribed it should of told me that! He should of told me to put my big girl panties on & go home & lay on the couch for the next 2 weeks & you'll be fine. Instead, I get put on a med that is 25x stronger then fentanyl ever could be but controlled enough so you won't overdose.
I've tapered off this med once before & it's _no fucking joke!_ I lasted 2.5 months & gave in. Even after 75 days I still had no urge to move from the couch! I was prescribed 24mg for 7 years & switched to an addiction Dr for the last 3 & he will only give 16mg daily. The only benefit is since he's an addiction specialist, my Suboxone is free & my state insurance pays the visit. But I'm going to be 100% honest here, I'm addicted to this medication. Some days I take more then the 16mg for "energy" but it's all in my damn head & it leaves me short the last few days before I go back in. I haven't had any meds now for 4 days & I feel like pure shit. I haven't left my bed in 3 days. It's 11:11p now & my appts @ 9:30a thankfully.

No one is forcing you to take any medication. Doctors can recommend, but the choice is always the patients, and with exceedingly rare exceptions for very infectious diseases or public health risks, you are free to cut down and stop any medication. You can even refuse quick, safe and life saving treatments like a few days of antibiotics for a severe infection.
You did not end up on Suboxone because some docs jumped out from behind a tree and made you take it….there was a reason, and you are free to not refill the prescription or wean down. The staff may not be thrilled about weaning, but remember they watch 100 people try to wean, and only see 1 or 2 succeed…so it’s hard for them to be super enthusiastic about another attempt to wean, but any good doc supports that the lowest dose that works is best, even if very tiny.
It can be done, gradually, especially at the end and may just gradually space out the time between doses, but many swear they will get off and give in after 3-4 weeks of being nonfunctional.

I was able to quit once. I'll try to look back so many times to figure out how I was able to do it. I feel like the only answer I have is to put yourself in a position to where you have to get off. And what I mean by that is if you're able to quit taking it and go stay out of town with someone long enough to get through the bad part of the withdrawals. I was able to quit after I lost my job and got a dwi. I knew I was screwed at that point and I could not spend money on going back to the doctor and I had lost my medication in the car when they took it for my DWI. So for about 3 weeks I had a few small pieces broke up all at the house and I'll wean myself off. I was pretty much in the home stretch and then wait for was coming up and the fear of truly quitting set in and I went back to my appointment like an idiot. Keep in mind at this point I was almost done pretty much. I was taking literal crumbs of pieces every other day or every two days and sometimes I would skip four or five days between. Hope this helps I know it's kind of vague but all I can tell you is to put yourself in a position to where you have to force yourself to quit due to a life circumstance. My buddy was so keen on quitting that he was going to taper himself off and join the the army. Do you want to join the army but even more he wanted to get off the Subutex. And he knew that if he went to basic training and got on that bus there would be no turning back and there would be no access to anything like that. That's why I was telling you if you can put yourself in a position to get out of town just for even two and a half to three weeks long enough to really get out of your system it's uphill from that point. And I don't mean it's a smooth ride. I just mean the worst part is over. You'll have to deal with some cravings and breakthrough withdrawal but it's not bad. Hope the best for you.

@@sassysucculent6291 I agree it takes a solid mindset of truly wanting to quit. There can be no half measures. If you can put that in your mind and fight through the withdrawals for a couple weeks you can quit. I was able to quit once in my 12 plus years of being on it. I made it about 22 days but my appointment was coming up and I was scared to finally cut the strings because I knew if I did not show up to my appointment that would be truly it and it would be done with and if I couldn't make it, then I wouldn't be able to get back in my doctor. So I started tapering off after a couple months. Let me tell you, you can taper off Suboxone down to the smallest amounts but it won't really lessen the ultimate withdrawal symptoms. 3 weeks of feeling like s**t. 4-6 months of fatigue and depression.

Her opinion on suboxone is wrong
U r not switching one drug for another
    Suboxone is a partial opiate
    U dont get high
It has a half life much longer than other opiates
U dont constantly need to take more and more of it, as it has a ceiling effect at 24 mg of bup.
Addiction is a chronic disease, lasting for ever
U were already addicted, the suboxone turns u human again
Your doctor prescribes u 30 day supply
Unlike methadone where u got to be at a clinic daily
Suboxone was the best thing to ever happen to me
I was dumpster diving and sleeping with dudes for drugs
Suboxone is the reason why i am alive and doing well

They do not train nor do they care about you as an actual patient which is so critical when it comes to your sobriety. I know from experience. So please if you are going to use an online service just use a different service as they are the absolute worse.
