Evander Holyfield was a small heavyweight. He was a blown up Light Heavyweight/Cruiserweight
Fought most of his heavyweight matches around 220 lbs, he was fighting Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis, who were well over 250 lbs. In a fight that is basically about punching power, he didn't have much power compared to Tyson, Lewis and Bowe. Had a chin made of granite, and he had heart.

Clearly Mike was pissed off in the second fight because of the headbutts in the first fight and how his right eye was cut from a headbutt right off the bat in the second fight. It seemed like Mike only bit Holyfield's ear because he wanted him to be afraid to keep headbutting him. I feel like Holyfield was not intentionally headbutting Mike a lot of the times that it happened, it was just the way their bodies were colliding, but it would have been interesting to hear Holyfield's take on it.

as a mike tyson fan i always said holyfield started it when he head butted tyson. head butts are sometimes intentional cause if done right over the eyes blood will flow into the eye or eyes. tyson knew h'ed be at a disadvantage through the fight so he put a stop to it by biting his ear off. but finally listening to holyfield talk, i have to watch that fight over again. like rogan says he's got great character and forgiving mike shows it. they're both great fighters and human beings. to me it's a privilege being around in that era.

Tyson bites part of his ear off. Twice! And how long does it take him to forgive, even without an apology from Mike? In the locker room after the fight. That's real strength, and wisdom. No matter what happened, there was no vengeance or hatred in Holyfield's heart, the emotional pain of the incident died immediately. About the greatest spiritual lesson of all, forgive and be free.
