The reason Mike was having a tough time in these fights ls because the peekaboo style rotations were halted with the clinch and defensive blocks, and body suppression to remove clear shots and punch combinations, the way evanders corner made him slippery and cooled him off with the squirt bottle alongside the clinch made him hard to pin down while delivering compact punches himself, not an excuse for ear bitting but having all your best moves like that must be frustrating.
No it wasn’t , it was because he kept head butting him , and the ref wasn’t listening Holyfield was being dirty
Holyfield even admitted later to tyson that he (holyfield) was being an a-hole during the fight and was purposely headbutting tyson.
@@OpaGramps where did he admit that ?
can’t forget the headbutts from evander
No. Tyson was having a tough time because Buster Douglas already showed the world how to defeat Tyson: Use a stiff jab to keep him on the outside. When he tries to come in, let the straight right hand fly, and rip some hooks and uppercuts. If Tyson does get on the inside, clinch him up immediately, wait for the referee to break, then start the process all over again.
We won't see fighters with this calibre anymore in this current era, unfortunately. True tough as nails savages, true warriors. The current heavyweights don't measure up and are boring to watch.

Two of my favorite fighters of all time however for totally different reasons. If this was early Tyson under D'amato he would of had the discipline to not get frustrated with Evanders unintentional headbutts and not resort to savageness.
Perhaps he doesn't have the character for that.
4 me a 1985 86 tyson under cus would have won
“Unintentional”
Why didn't the ref call Hollyfield out for the constant head butt collisions. Makes you wonder if Tyson was supposed too loose.
That’s what mike said once in an interview. He said he got so angry that Evander kept head budding him and that the ref didn’t call it so he bit the ear
The ref was zero hesitant reducing 2 points straight away. On the other hand, Tyson complained the intentional head collision multiple times, completely ignored.
Like once or maybe twice, it could be considered 'accident' and could be overlooked, but at least warning should have been given to stop that happening.
At the time, Tyson had a lot of issues outside the ring. They probably wanted a new figure to represent boxing.
@Toe To toe Holyfield did more headbutts/low blows in the first fight than the second. Those shots did a lot of damages, period. Yes, it's a fact that he won twice, but he won twice with all those fouls without being penalized. I'm not even talking about 'the prime' Mike Tyson like others do. Holyfield fans seem to refuse to accept he played dirty . He was amazing in cruiser weight, no doubt. Since he moved to the heavyweight, he used all those dirty techniques to exploit advantages against bigger opponents. You can say he was good in a way because he was never deducted a single point throughout his career.
@Toe To toe You are right on the point that Tyson could not really fight on the heel but Tyson being a bully fighter does not mean that he threw illegal blows intentionally like Holyfield. Tyson was able to bully bigger opponents, despite his size disadvantage. Holyfield used all those fouls in order not to get bullied by bigger opponents. And did Holyfield find a different ways to win against James Toney? Holyfield was taller of these two and was not able to use his range against a smaller opponent.
@@seungwoonchoi7373 Because I fighter ducks his head and the OTHER fighter runs his OWN head into the other fighter does not equal a headbutt....it's an unintentional clash of heads. If Holyfield does not tuck his head then Mike would be busting up Evander's face. You really know nothing about boxing.
After all these years I'll say the same thing to this day: Keep throwing headbuts, don't be mad when you get bit. As Tyson himself has said over the years, Holyfield has the clear height advantage, so why tf is his head constantly under Mike's? I actually think Holyfield is an amazing fighter, but his head truly was his third fist
He didn't usually throw his head what he did was almost spear with his head a little intentional a little his style he always layed with his head and that space when Tyson came in Holyfield would place it there and also lean with his head so in the first fight they where just banging. It think on the.inside it was clever even right on top of u Tyson would move his head one side of you and bang to the other by having his head there it disrupted that. He seemed to be a little more agressive with it in the rematch. Was a little of both mike was also so used to the space being his and they reason ref would ways say step back because neither would in the first fight.
Same thing was going on in the first fight, guy kept headbuting mike and ref didint do nothing about it just like he did nothing in this one so i understand why mike did that.
Disagree on that one . Tyson hit on the break numerous times... After the bell as usual and the one they ways show Tyson comes in.with.his.head and he buckles. The first round holyfield leans with head as Mike attacks n throws a.combo again Tyson. Is lunging with his head. The one that all the people miss.that was from holyfield was after he knocks him down on the ropes he throws left right and.smash and it looks like a punch almost like f!!?!! you. The ref said the heads where literally banging in there because Tyson comes in and holyfield leans with his as he always has. I agree he got a little to over agressive in the rematch and before Tyson bites him he tries a standing armlock to break his arm very rarely brought up a tactic he would use again against Botha.
Excuses for being dominated. Mike was using his head lunging just as much as Evander was supposedly butting.
Lennox Lewis said Holyfield had a circle on a heavy bag he practices headbutts..
Don’t know why some people in the comments condemn this behaviour. Mike knew he could not win to a superior boxer. Holyfield was outboxing him and, instead of fighting and loosing like a man, Tyson got himself disqualified. Shameful really
2:51 when u get bombed with heavy punches in the ring, but u have to scream for a bit pressure on the eye LOL
i can remember ]Mike Tyson avoiding every possible fight with Holyfield for his entire career hoping Evander would retire before he had to face him. The ONLY fighter Tyson ever feared in the ring and after being destroyed in the first fight saw it coming again and resorted to biting to try and intimidate him. Lost all respect for Tyson on this day.
Noo noo noo 😭
Such a shame , this could have been a damn good fight, it started off really good except for evanders headbuts
To be honest, I coudn´t see Evander headbutting Mike on purpose!
@@barrylyndon80 BRO THIS WAS JUST WILD BACK THEN
He did the same thing time after time.
Head down and pushing forward and connecting with Mike’s head.
If he used the gloves instead of his head.
He deserved the bites.
Tyson was the one headbutting in the 1st match so... and he got the most hurt by it too
Tyson was ducking the punches it was inadvertent , also inevitable.
both of them are the real legend
I know Tyson bit his ear and that is f*cked, but to be honest Holyfield was head butting like crazy. That must be so frustrating. Especially when you get a big cut above the eye.
I'm torn...originally I thought the bite occurred because Tyson was desperate. Now I'm not so sure as it looked like Holyfield was ducking down for headbutts while clinching and Tyson reacted by fighting fire with fire.
This and the first fight Holyfield headbutt Ed him nearly in every Clinch. Tyson told Lane more than once, but Lane ignored that. Maybe Lane was a good ref, except that day...
@@Louis.Cyphre Maybe there was not actually any headbutts at all...... because Mike is the one who usually headbutts more
@@azmainfaiak8111 No, I don't agree. He hits his opponents often by going forward holding his head forward down, ok. But in a clinch...no.
I remember back in the day after this fight they had wax candy holyfield ears with juice inside they was good too
xD.
xD.
First time i came here to watch mike tyson ‘ match -mike tyson need vaccination of rabies 😂😂😂
Tyson=Friends,countrymen,Americans,Holyfield lend me your ear!😂😂😂😂😂
Ok holyfield head-butted him, numerous times every time they got in close. They clinched ALOT for the what? 3-4 rounds they went? It also happened alot in the first fight, and Tyson was content with being clinched numerous times. If he knew the head kept hitting him in close contact with the clinch why allow the clinch all over again in this second fight? That's how alot of fighters who beat Tyson had to do alot, especially late in his career was hold on for dear life.
Can't really help. Tyson throws punches lunging forward, and Holyfield comes with head first to duck those shots. Holyfield kept doing it because he never got a point deducted or warned by ref. According to your logic, so as not to allow the clinch, Tyson should be fighting on his heels, moving backward as Holyfield comes forward to clinch. It does not really make sense for a boxer with shorter reach trying to stay outward and box his opponent. It's like Joe Frazier trying to out-box Ali. James Toney could do it, but not Mike Tyson.
@Tamer Ciftci you must be really scared using the same argument in every comment right?
Lmao I don't believe that you are 20+, you seem more like a looser too me than him.
