Interesting fact about Leon and Sayaka: They were two of the first to get killed because their designs were the placeholder male and female character designs, or at least really close or based off of them, and Kodaka was sick of looking at them, so he killed the off quickly.

I have to say, even if it wasn't Danganronpa necessarily, I think it would've been pretty cool to play something like Distrust where there's still the trials/murders and all that but where it could change who the murderers/victims were. I understand there might be problems coding all those different outcomes (and know it wouldn't be quite like VLR for instance), but the idea of there actually being 15 possible first killers and 14 possible first victims partly depending on what you as the player do, how you respond to things, and who you talk to sounds awesome.
Here's how I'd envision it: Each playthrough will be no more than 7 in-game days long, and you can only gain the trust of one character per playthrough. Depending on who trusts you, you'll be given a perk that will make the trial easier. For instance, Kiyotaka will increase your Influence Gauge by a few units. Some characters (like Kyoko and Junko) won't speak to you unless certain conditions were met in a previous playthrough, and Byakuya, being Byakuya, will hate you no matter what you do. Every character that you can gain the trust of (in other words, everyone but yourself, Byakuya, and Hifumi) will have two endings: a Good End where only the victim(s) and the Blackened die, and a Bad End where your partner is among the casualties.
1:03 What I always found so interesting is the fact that Monokuma was supposed to be a human, and in this particular picture, Monokuma is a bear. What.
What I’m assuming also is that maybe the ACTUAL Monokuma was that weird...Titan thing, but the true/normal mascot was the bear. So the real Monokuma is actually just a weird variation of what we think is the normal one.
Glad this turned up in my feed! Your subscribers has increased by 1 Hey look at you go --------------------------------------------------------- 0:30 So basically like something from that Titan anime....... Attack on Titan that's it! 1:30 Very true, I was drawn to this series just because it looked soo colorful and crazy, I mean... Pink Blood is iconic for this game. 1:45 Wasn't it because the game would have been an R rating otherwise? Or in the US or something? 2:30 That would be amazing! Because I was dissapointed to discover that no matter what I did, the outcome was fixed. The storyline was good, don't get me wrong, but replay value?
The second beta Fukawa design that shows up is an absolute babe, a big step from the initial beta. I guess they found a happy medium between hot and fugly troll
"2. Another reason the creators changed the blood from red to pink was to keep age ratings down." This is not quite correct. I wrote an Article for Unseen64 a year or even two years ago for the Danganronpa Prototype/Beta Distrust. The Pink Blood never was meant to keep the age ratings low, because Danganronpa received a D rating bei CERO. The second most high rating the Board has to offer. Even with red blood, the Game would never had been rated Z. With a few exceptions like Chaos;Head or Shin Hayarigami, the Z Rating is reserved for many Games from the West because of it's content. The tone of the overall Game was mostly changed because of the Failure of 999. People from Japan like colorfull stuff, Comedy-Elements and a much more smoother Atmosphere. Distrust was going in a similar direction like Zero Escape which wasn't a good sign. So they changed many elements. Of course, coloring the Blood Pink was also a nice Feature to definitely keep the age rating low, but that wasn't the main reason.
Honestly as much as I love Danganronpa it feels like Distrust might have had a bit more engaging story and gameplay. Though it seems with Miarai-hen they're going for a darker non hot pink feel
I think I would've liked Distrust more than Trigger Happy Havoc. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but sometimes it was way too unrealistic for me, so I would've loved a more realistic and brutal version. Also being able to decide who dies/stays alive sounds like a great idea. And I also love Monokuma's design, it's scarier than what they ended up doing😆
I really want Distrust as like a spin off or somthing because I remember spending time with people duting the freetime because I thought that would prevent them from getting killed. Poor Taka
Maybe the reason why they never had "trust bars" and multiple endings was because they thought it would resemble phoenix wright too much then and didn't want to use the features of another Spike Chunsoft game series, Zero escape with the whole multiple timeline thing where you can know infomation from other timelines and bring it to the "good" timeline.
2:28 They should’ve definitely went with this system instead, except using free time as a means of doing it. A missed opportunity to add all the unused executions, and have some of the better characters (IMO) get more development and not get unfairly killed off in the VERY FIRST CHAPTER *cough cough LEON cough* . I mean it wouldn’t be too complicated, the mastermind would always be the same, just with different survivors. Hopefully there will be a trilogy remake or something like that eventually...
I'm kind of hoping they'll actually implement that weird distrust-trust meter in the new Danganronpa V3 game. Since, from what I heard, there will be this type of gameplay called "Scrum Debates" and such, and from what I heard, the students will be split up in groups and decide who's the murderer from then on, and it would be kind of cool, and probably annoying, if they all chose you if they distrusted you enough. But this is probably just me getting my hopes up! There's a low chance the distrust-meter will be put in the new game, but I guess I could dream! Also, sorry if I worded this whole thing wrong! I'm excited for the new DR game, and I think it would be pretty sweet if they put some stuff left out in the first/second games in Danganronpa V3! But Beta!Monokuma can kindly leave because I DON'T WANT NONE OF THAT IN MY DREAMS
This concept looks cool, and I'd definitely play this if it weren't for that... Sort of horrifying astmosphere and Monokuma... Just imagine how creepy that would be...
i feel like Distrust is a game that i would LOVE i mean... don't get me wrong, I love Danganronpa too but I feel like Distrust has a better theme or feel for me in my opinion... well, except for the fact that Kyoko is the first victim...
All the designs I can make out 2:56 Junko 2:58 Sayaka 3:01 Aoi 3:05 Toko 3:12 Chihiro (Also if you look at the background it appears that he isn’t murmured as there is a design where he looks like a boy) 3:13Kiyotaka 3:14Makoto 3:16Byakuya
Apparently in the demo for THH, Taka was going to hang himself after the second trial (idk if they mean the actual demo, since the real demo isnt even a full chapter)
Personally, a horror Danganronpa game that has a trust system sounds amazing. Also now I gotta look at “Last Virtue” because that an interesting concept.
Hope Thy Nope i see. I believe new info was released recently right? I was waiting for Weeby to cover it herself but I might have to check out on my own maybe.
7 years later from when this was posted and here are my thoughts: - The distrust system should've been kept in, especially with the amount of "[insert character] died in my route!" that could've spread online. -YTTD had this in it's game, and gained massive success for it. They missed out big time -I liked most of the designs, they felt more realistic and would help people connect to characters more. Junko's is my favourite. -Celeste was absolutely worth noting, mostly for her colour palette. In her canon design, she has way too much black in her colour palette, most in the same shade of black. While I prefer the overall design of the official outfit, I felt like it could've used more red. They could've easily made the bows on her bonnet red, or her ribbons on her sleeves. The beta design was so nice. Her hair was more realistic, she had doll-like facial features and a comfortable amount of red and black. -I liked canon junko, but beta junko also felt more realistic since they were in a high school, so she makes due with the uniform! Her pigtails felt VERY gyaru too, which is her ultimate! -Danganronpa was nice, but it wasn't brutal, or well realistic enough. It would've carried the cabin fever more, if the students had brutal executions because it meant they had a HUGE risk to take when murdering. Seeing Junko bleed out in her execution adds onto the horror of it.
I hope they make this as a spin off game after Danganronpa V3 has been released. I feel like it would be really cool to see how different Danganronpa could've been! -and it also looks awesome anyways.
I know this isn't an unpopular opinion anymore, but I'd love to have distrust. It would be awesome that trusting someone more than the others could lead to different outcomes. I don't know how it's gonna all end but maybe if Ishimaru trusted us more, he'd ask us about the letter he received in chapter 3, and maybe he'd live if we tell him not to meet up with Hifumi. If we don't trust Sayaka we wouldn't switch rooms with her. If Fukawa trusted us more than Byakuya, she'd tell us about genocider before him. The possibility is endless 0_o. For a true ending, the mc should trust whoever the mastermind is??? That would mean they'd get everything in plan. Or something.
I don't think the mastermind or person working for mastermind would trust someone so close to tell their plans, but how about the true Ending would be a result of becoming a close friend of the person working for the mastermind
Honestly the coolest cut idea from Distrust was the trust mechanic and the whole different murders based on trust thing I get why they cut the idea, tough, that would be a lot of work
there should bring some elements of distrust into the new game. it would be cool to have the protagonist get away with murder and then get the bad ending.
It's possible that in the beta, you may have had the ability to actually kill someone in the game. Not killed by other students, but by your hands instead. It may seem too way out of the league the Danganronpa series is known for, but I'm willing to bet that the developers had this sort of gameplay in mind at some point during it's concept phase. Considering this beta shows how wide its gameplay freedom was back then. (Being able to direct or make the game decide who gets to die or not) You could or may save everyone and nobody dies, or literally be the "Blackened" who killed everyone. Either way, you win the death game.
I wish they did published this because its looks super cool and i like gruesome anime because it was fun to watch. monokuma's beta design is so cool too its not weird at all i mean its distrust its supposed to be scary and straight up gruesome horror i really wish they released this game ☹️
Umm kind of late, but everytime I see this video I always wonder: why does it say Eden in the thumbnail? I can't seem to find the answer in the video...
I kinda hope one day they can maybe make a version of THH where you can actually change who lives and dies, it wouldn't need a sequel or anything - but just to be able to see your faves survive until the end would be so cool 💙 I would basically just spoil Taka ☠️

Here's how I'd envision it:
Each playthrough will be no more than 7 in-game days long, and you can only gain the trust of one character per playthrough.
Every character that you can gain the trust of (in other words, everyone but yourself, Byakuya, and Hifumi) will have two endings: a Good End where only the victim(s) and the Blackened die, and a Bad End where your partner is among the casualties.
somebody was sketchin asahina hella thicc lol
Lmao yas
Yuh
3: THEY SHOULD'VE KEPT THE CAT EARS CHIHIRO
honeSTLY I WAS DISTRUST WAS ACTUALLY MADE
I WOULD LOVE THAT GRUESOME SCENE AND THE EXECUTIONS RIP
1:03 What I always found so interesting is the fact that Monokuma was supposed to be a human, and in this particular picture, Monokuma is a bear. What.
idk
On beta junko she still had her two monokuma hair pins/clips, maybe it wasn't official?
They probably changed Monokuma's style afterwards
What I’m assuming also is that maybe the ACTUAL Monokuma was that weird...Titan thing, but the true/normal mascot was the bear. So the real Monokuma is actually just a weird variation of what we think is the normal one.
Glad this turned up in my feed!

Hey look at you go
---------------------------------------------------------
0:30 So basically like something from that Titan anime.......
The storyline was good, don't get me wrong, but replay value?
well this is convenient.
The second beta Fukawa design that shows up is an absolute babe, a big step from the initial beta. I guess they found a happy medium between hot and fugly troll
"2. Another reason the creators changed the blood from red to pink was to keep age ratings down."
This is not quite correct.
*Looks at Byuakuya*
OH NO HE’S HOT-
Honestly as much as I love Danganronpa it feels like Distrust might have had a bit more engaging story and gameplay. Though it seems with Miarai-hen they're going for a darker non hot pink feel
I honestly hope after v3 that they finish distrust as a different series or a spin off, and sell it to the public.
Picoper Same.
somewhere i heard that the devs dont want to finish distrust i dont know if its true though
Ishimaru's beta design is so dorky and lame, I love it.
the kanji next to "EDEN" in the thumbnail mean "zetsubou" which is despair
glad they got that in order at the start
2:28 They should’ve definitely went with this system instead, except using free time as a means of doing it. A missed opportunity to add all the unused executions, and have some of the better characters (IMO) get more development and not get unfairly killed off in the VERY FIRST CHAPTER *cough cough LEON cough* . I mean it wouldn’t be too complicated, the mastermind would always be the same, just with different survivors. Hopefully there will be a trilogy remake or something like that eventually...
i wish they would release this game, too, tbh, it seems really good, maybe better than what was the final product
InkyDiddly to bad it wasn't also that's not what a scrum debate is
This concept looks cool, and I'd definitely play this if it weren't for that...
I kinda like the idea that they just stood in a circle, rather than podiums
All the designs I can make out
2:56 Junko
2:58 Sayaka
3:01 Aoi
3:05 Toko
3:12 Chihiro (Also if you look at the background it appears that he isn’t murmured as there is a design where he looks like a boy)
3:13Kiyotaka
3:14Makoto
3:16Byakuya
Apparently in the demo for THH, Taka was going to hang himself after the second trial (idk if they mean the actual demo, since the real demo isnt even a full chapter)
Personally, a horror Danganronpa game that has a trust system sounds amazing. Also now I gotta look at “Last Virtue” because that an interesting concept.
BETA NAEGI'S LEGS THOUGH
I really do want to play distrust tho, I want to see how gruesome it can get…
I'd love to see the short gameplay video but I can't find it anywhere ;-;
Here you go! (I'll add it to the description too). ua-cam.com/video/N_W_3w_sfoI/v-deo.html
Weeby Newz Ahh yayy thank you so much for linking it
+Weeby Newz Whats Ur Fav Danganronpa Game?
Maybe they'll include some unused elements from distrust im v3?
thats what i thought! the whole thing of lying that showed in the teaser might have something to do with it... I'm really hoping so
They did if I remember correctly
Wait they did that for the third game?
There is actually a part in the class trials in Dangan Ronpa V3 where you can lie to get different reactions from the other people in the game.
Hope Thy Nope i see. I believe new info was released recently right? I was waiting for Weeby to cover it herself but I might have to check out on my own maybe.
A wise decision it was to change monokumas design.
Junko in the beta version be looking like Ann from Persona 5
7 years later from when this was posted and here are my thoughts:
- The distrust system should've been kept in, especially with the amount of "[insert character] died in my route!" that could've spread online.
-YTTD had this in it's game, and gained massive success for it. They missed out big time
-I liked most of the designs, they felt more realistic and would help people connect to characters more.
I AGREE I AGREE SO MUCH
few years late to noticing this but the original mtb (left box at 0:29) looks like it was reused in v3 as the scrum debates
Honestly the coolest cut idea from Distrust was the trust mechanic and the whole different murders based on trust thing
I get why they cut the idea, tough, that would be a lot of work
I remember when I was like obsessed with Distrust 😂😂😂😂
The pink blood fit with the overall Danganronpa theme
The Danganronpa 3 anime: *excuse me?*
I would do anything to play this game.
Beta Byakuya looks like he would call me an idiot sandwich and slap me with his money
i would love to please this game but ... that monokuma tho omg it's a pure nightmare fuel
aw man , now i wish the beta was an actual game 😕
there should bring some elements of distrust into the new game. it would be cool to have the protagonist get away with murder and then get the bad ending.
They should've finished that game. I would willingly watch and maybe even play it. It's so cool and interesting, and I love how more brutal it is.
1:52 but now, red blood looks so fake to me xD
It's possible that in the beta, you may have had the ability to actually kill someone in the game. Not killed by other students, but by your hands instead.
It may seem too way out of the league the Danganronpa series is known for, but I'm willing to bet that the developers had this sort of gameplay in mind at some point during it's concept phase. Considering this beta shows how wide its gameplay freedom was back then. (Being able to direct or make the game decide who gets to die or not)
You could or may save everyone and nobody dies, or literally be the "Blackened" who killed everyone. Either way, you win the death game.
I wish they did published this because its looks super cool and i like gruesome anime because it was fun to watch. monokuma's beta design is so cool too its not weird at all i mean its distrust its supposed to be scary and straight up gruesome horror i really wish they released this game ☹️
I like the distrust idea bc even if you seen a spoiler it doesn't matter
Umm kind of late, but everytime I see this video I always wonder: why does it say Eden in the thumbnail? I can't seem to find the answer in the video...
Dat Beta Toko tho
3:06 Hifumi and Toko were the most cursed beta designs.
I kinda hope one day they can maybe make a version of THH where you can actually change who lives and dies, it wouldn't need a sequel or anything - but just to be able to see your faves survive until the end would be so cool 💙 I would basically just spoil Taka ☠️
3:13 he kinda has kaito’s hair
Sees Toko’s and hifumi’s design
*I can see why they changed it*
Me: "I'd play distrust"
Me: **Sees distrust monokuma**
Me: **Laughs nervously**
Beta byakuya looks like what toko imagines him in UDG
Maybe this will be the dangan ronpa reboot, now that it's kinda... over?
the future volume op is now on youtube (no visuals, just the song) and im even more hyped right now
I think distrust
can be in a future a comic or something in a diferent dimension
This would have been so interesting to see as an actual game, although I am quite happy we got what we did get because it’s also an amazing game still, should still release as a spin off tho :p
That monokuma beta design scar me for life.....
I wish they finished Distrust because I think I would have enjoyed playing through it and seeing how the game would've worked, and endings it could have had.
Me: **at a sleepover with friends**
My friends playing truth or dare: so what's your biggest fear
Me: **beta monokuma flashback**
i would've loved to have a game where you can change the story but i'm happy that in danganronpa kyoko didn't die lol.
what are the "psycho" styles? I've just never heard of these terms.
You can't have a protaginist in dangonropa without the ahoge
Is it bad that I would rather have Kirigiri give first instead of the alternative which is Maizono? I just love Maizono, I'm sorry!
Nah, me too
Idk why but I hate Maizono sm......
I wish we had both danganronpa and distrust, distrust seems very interesting. The story could have endless ways to go, but that would’ve been super confusing, danganronpa itself is already confusing..
Do you think your gonna make a dr3 anime speculation video where you talk about who you think will or wont die before the anime comes out?
YEAAAAH GOOD IDEA :D
Nice username, lmao.
