That is why you need to learn to play the game, starting from level 1. And no rush. Read about each skill and sort them on your hot bar. Use them to get to know them :) There isnt more than 30 or so at highest level (I played several years ago, so maybe it changed), and only 10-20 are used in combat. Often only 5-10 of them on a cycle. So is isnt that bad :)

"If you start getting attacked the tank will grab that enemy's attention, and the healer will heal you right up..." in a perfect world. Beginners (and even veteran players) need to learn to run to the tank if something gets on them and have that health potion at the ready. 😉 Both the tank and the healer might be too busy (or not experienced enough) to notice what's happening to you.
Yes, exactly. This is my first time playing wow, not in retail but wow classic, and I keep getting shunned for being a beginner and not knowing what I am doing half the time. But there isn't a tutorial or guide. You kinda just land and are expected to know how to play. I also did not have questie at the beginning so the struggle was extra real (thankfully I figured out how to get it). Feel so outcasted cause everyone seems to have experienced the early wow, and I don't see many newbies like me.
This video is masterpiece for beginners thanks you helped me a lot , it is very rare nowadays to find someone who can explain things simply , shortly and efficiently like you i hope you continue posting videos about the game

i had a level sixty warrior years and years ago, ive went to everquest cause my good pc crashed, now im getting back in to wow, ive forgotten everything about it, thanks for the vid.
If you're new. And especially to something like Warcraft don't go classic, you will struggle as you're assumed to have a good knowledge base across the board on the game. No disrespect meant, it's for purists to the original way the game was.
I love the game and I finally bought it in the $90 edition since it was 50% off a few days ago. I got 30 days game time and a lvl 60 boost. Played a Hunter up to level 50 Then used my level boost on a Demon Hunter because I really liked the class and now my DH is almost lvl 70 And then I started playing a Dracthyr. I still haven’t learned a profession on any of them because I was too scared to do it, I don’t know why. The game is very overwhelming at first and I really think u need like 2-3 months of playing to understand the basics of things, but I enjoy it :) I’m lucky that I used to play Metin2 (everyone that liked MMORPGs and was from Eastern Europe played Metin2) and a lot of games during my life so I get most of the gameplay :)
Speaking as a tank...I tell my group not to touch anything until I have threat on everything and if one or two run for the healer or DPS I ask them to bring it to me through my consecrate
YES! As a tank main (especially this season) give me a second to grab agro, and if you get agro just run to me and I can grab it. Nothing worse than a ranged dps with agro running as far from me as possible 😂😂

As a long time player, I just want to say to make sure to play YOUR WAY! As you're starting off, don't worry about what the meta is or what this dude in Orgrimmar/Stormwind told you about how your talents should look like. You'll have PLENTY of time later for that. Make sure to enjoy your journey FIRST and love how your character progresses through the choices that you make. I’m away from my computer right now, but if it’s the spell I think it is, it requires both a shield (I assume you have, but don’t want for retribution spec) and some Holy Power. You likely might not have built up enough Holy Power to use it.

Super useful guide, what are the best ways to start leveling earlier on? Just picking up any quest you can do or are there specific things which are better?
For 1-60 just picking up quests anywhere you can will probably be best. Running dungeons can be a fun way to break it up too, and they offer good xp! Once you go to the Dragon isles you will want to follow the main quest line as that will unlock stuff to do at max level. Any character after your first will automatically have that unlocked however.
why can't people like him teach in schools?! but for real man, I didn't know anything but the game name when I clicked the video. the man is Literally explaining from the scratch.
One step at a time. Everything in this video is what you’ll need to get started, anymore and it could feel overwhelming. Addons don’t really become necessary until you get to endgame content, however I do have 2 videos on my channel dedicated to Addons. A Beginner’s Guide to Addons video and a 5 Addons You Need video.
Thank you so much for this guide! This is literally my first time playing WoW. I'm a veteran Hearthstone player so I wanted to get an idea of what WoW is like since Hearthstone is based on it. Anyways, I just wanted to ask. When does the tutorial end? Because I'm currently at level 7 and I know after level 20 it's paywalled. So is level 20 when the tutorial ends? Or did it end on the boat and this is just regular play?
The "Tutorial" zone ends around lvl 10. It'll take you to your factions major city, you'll learn a couple things there, and then it will send you to the "Battle For Azeroth" zones to quest and level.
Continue to quest, maybe start queueing for occasional quests, and when you hit level 60 get ready to go to the Dragon Isles. At that point the story will begin to be a lot more consistent and will lead you right into end game content like Dungeons, Raids, etc.
@TheSwaglock Thanks for responding, man! Love this game! I have 3 dungeons in my quest line that I haven't queued for yet because the thought of my subpar play ruining other people's experiences makes me apprehensive. How do I know where I'm at in the story? Like, what expansion am I playing? I wanted to play the game in chronological order, but I have no clue if I'm doing that or how to do it. Sorry, I don't want to take up too much of your time with my fng questions.
Is this showcasing the classic or retail mode of the game? I've never played WOW and want to get started, and was recommended the classic mode? Any input is very welcomed? Thanks
This is for retail mode. I generally do not suggest classic for new players. It primarily exists for players with nostalgia for playing WoW back when it first started.
Once you you’ve done the tutorial once, you’ll be given the option to do the tutorial again anytime you create a new character. If you and your friend create new characters together, you can do the whole experience together.
That's awesome to hear! I am fairly active on my Discord Server, and have a few members in there as well that would be happy to help you get started! There's a link to the server in the description of this video.
As a new player would you reccomend hunter im currently lvl 19 on free trial , would you reccomend restarting if i buy the game and choosing a different realm etc
Yeah a lot has changed for sure! We have a couple AH experts hanging out on our discord server, feel free to ask any questions there too until I get a video up :)
Not sure I'd need a whole video for it. But honestly the only in-game commands I find myself using are /invite (invites to party) /ginvite (Invites to guild) /logout /exit and then the text channels: /S (Say) /P (Party) /I (Instance) /R (raid) /G (Guild)
I have played WoW since I was 7 but the guild/auction/any social aspects or realms with many people always made me nervous so even though i am 20 now i have never had a character over level 30 because ig its not as fun to play all alone? But i still come back to the game every now and then and play the free 20 levels until i get bored haha Im the noob you see walking around in beginner gear
However you find yourself enjoying the game is good to me :) I will admit the leveling experience right now isn’t great, but if you ever do find yourself getting to max level, I’ve got some friends that would be happy to do stuff with you!
The worst part about this game as a new player seems to be traveling to different continents. Its the worst... I cant tell where the portals are for the continents I need. The problem starts when the location tells us its taking us to a very specific place like thunder bluff. To expect new players to know where thunder bluff (or these specific isles) is, is ridiculous, instead of telling us something like "kalimdor; orgrimmar" they just say orgrimmar. Plus, the map is just the worst. It doesnt even tell you the names of the places a lot of the time. I remember seeing a part of the continent called something on the map when I hover over it but when i click on it it'll take me to a completely differently named location however it had the same exact outline as the other location. Its just a very very stupid system overall.
This is the downside to the game running for nearly 20 years. Too much content that is way too overwhelming for a new player. A system to better label and navigate the world would be a good step to take.
@@TheSwaglock I mean theyre still supporting the game. They JUST MADE A NEW EXPANSION. Theres truly no reason the next update cant have a revamped map and pathing system. Saying that its a 20 year old game tbh feels like youre making an excuse for this. Fact is, they can make it better in maybe a month or two.
Good note. I often suggest high pop servers because they offer more opportunities for players. It's easier to ignore people than it is to pay for a server transfer if you need more people. I've already made that mistake myself a couple times.
I highly suggest starting with World of Warcraft sometimes called WoW Retail. It’s the most up to date version of the game. Classic is more of a nostalgia experience for players. I would not start with classic
Good video! Been playing since MoP, but I know there's a lot that I don't know. Love to see videos that explain stats, selecting gear, creating an effective rotation and Talent Tree builds. These are my weakest areas. I'm an older player, so there are aspects of gameplay that are not intuitive or coming naturally to me. Nonetheless, I love the game and find enjoyment with it. I play PVE and join in on group content, but usually PUGs and LFRs. I've been suriviving to this point because of addons such as Pawn, Hekili, and DBM, but I would like to have some real comprension. I play a Destro Warlock (Horde) and an Elemental Shaman (Ally). I also, of course, have an Evoker, and I have been trying out a Feral Druid. DPS all the way for me.
Thank you!! I would love to go into more of these topics too! There's so much to learn about the game, and I'd love to help create digestible content that that explains the basics.
Dude literally the first time I played the game I made a human and literally couldn’t figure out how to not die while completing the first quest. Turns out playing a regular dude is really weak
Theoretically yes, but with the design of wow I think it would long term put you at a major disadvantage. However, the game starts you off simple and slowly adds more to your plate. I think it would be a great game to get comfortable with on pc
There should be a questline to follow a goblin around the city as they show you how to get your mount and where the inn is. After that you'll get a quest sending you to Zandalar to keep questing.
@TheSwaglock thank you! So I was doing the intro to Death Knight a person had finished the end bit and it skipped it all so now I gotta see what happens to the lich King and why I betray him
I am a new player, haven’t subscribed yet. How do I unlock the death knight? I was not allowed to choose it as it said reach level 10. Will I need to buy a subscription or an expansion to unlock it?
I don’t think subscriptions are needed for Death Knights. I believe hitting level 10 will unlock them for you. Just a note, the death knight starting experience is oooolld so it feels a bit dated. But they are my favorite class to play in the game.
@@TheSwaglock Thank you, I am just now getting into it after dedicating 6+ years to Destiny cause the game is going to shit but WOW just feels so daunting in scale and complexity.
i have just started playing wow retail and have finished exiles reach , i chose Hunter as my class currenttly level 14. How do i no if i am playing the game the right way as at the moment i feel a wit overwelmd any help would be greatly apreciated.
Ohh yeah, the transition from exiles reach to normal content can be a little jarring. Did you just finished exiles today? A major change was made last night allowing players to level from 10-70 in the dragon isles rather than the old area they had people level. Join the discord and we can help you out
Thanks for the quick response after exiles I was taken to the capital city for horde sorry can’t remember name . Then after that I chose my 2 professions then got my first mount. Then I followed campaign quests which led me to fly on a zeppelin to a new location sorry forgot name , please could you tell me the discord. Thanks for your help really appreciated
I have watched a few videos on WoW, and it appears very difficult to master. Generally, are there people friendly enough to help you develop your skills and show you how to play?
I know this video is older but maybe you will see this question. I am just starting and there is a quest to kill this bear and it says it needs 3 people. Well I went at it alone and it didn’t work that bear is so irritating 😂 anyways I don’t know anyone that plays so how do I make a group so I can get past this quest?
If you check the group finder tool you might see others trying to do the quest. I’m assuming it’s one of those “WANTED” quests? Don’t be afraid to just ignore it, you don’t have to complete those ones.
@@TheSwaglock you know I got the dragons flight expansion pack and I joined stormrage and I was only a level 8 so I’m just starting from scratch so now I don’t have to deal with it anyways lmao. Good to know if that kind of thing comes up again.
question. im in the "free version till level 20" but i did research. and came apon wow token.. can i grind gold. and when trail wow is over after level 20. can i immediately buy wow token? i really cant and dont wanna use money. but ill love to use gold.. so can i buy wow token and play wow free after trail?
Great question!! The wow token absolutely can be used to pay for game time, and I personally know many players that do! Theoretically if you had the gold at lvl 20 to buy a token you could get gametime with it, but it's worth noting that gold is much easier to make at max level, and that's how most players who pay for time with gold do so.

Personally, i like hunter. Being an LDSK is fun.
good job on this
Thank you so much for this guide!
@@TheSwaglock Ohhh so I'm not even done with it. Thank you again for the helpful tips! I really appreciate it.
kinda brings me back to soul reaver in a way
Level 37 Shadow Priest. Still have no clue what I'm doing or what I'm supposed to do besides following the campaign quest line.
Great video
Is this showcasing the classic or retail mode of the game? I've never played WOW and want to get started, and was recommended the classic mode? Any input is very welcomed?
Thanks
This is for retail mode. I generally do not suggest classic for new players. It primarily exists for players with nostalgia for playing WoW back when it first started.
first 5mins made me think of a mix between old school rune scape and wizard101
Very accurate
Nice video! I have one question tho, how can I start playing with a friend? What do we need to do to go trough the tutorial parts toghether?
Once you you’ve done the tutorial once, you’ll be given the option to do the tutorial again anytime you create a new character. If you and your friend create new characters together, you can do the whole experience together.
Great tips, where can i contact u for more tips. (ive got many questions i want to start playing it)
That's awesome to hear! I am fairly active on my Discord Server, and have a few members in there as well that would be happy to help you get started! There's a link to the server in the description of this video.
@@TheSwaglock it says invite invalid, so i cant join your discord server.
@@waeoki278 oh that’s odd! I’ll have to fix it. I’m the meantime try this one: discord.gg/BvCkFYC
As a new player would you reccomend hunter im currently lvl 19 on free trial , would you reccomend restarting if i buy the game and choosing a different realm etc
I usually advise going for a more populated realm, but the choice is less limiting now that most things can occur across realm
thank you so much for this helpful guide
i wish i can find a guide on how to use the auction its not like it was 4 years ago
Yeah a lot has changed for sure! We have a couple AH experts hanging out on our discord server, feel free to ask any questions there too until I get a video up :)
Please make a video on all the essential in game typed commands 😃
Not sure I'd need a whole video for it. But honestly the only in-game commands I find myself using are
/invite (invites to party)
/ginvite (Invites to guild)
/logout
/exit
and then the text channels:
/S (Say)
/P (Party)
/I (Instance)
/R (raid)
/G (Guild)
thank you this guide was so good
What level would ya recommend for players to go to the dungeons. pls and thx
Thank you so much!
I have played WoW since I was 7 but the guild/auction/any social aspects or realms with many people always made me nervous so even though i am 20 now i have never had a character over level 30 because ig its not as fun to play all alone? But i still come back to the game every now and then and play the free 20 levels until i get bored haha
Im the noob you see walking around in beginner gear
@@juaecheverria0 I’ve always said portals should be available for everyone on a 10 minute CD that takes you to major locations.
I would suggest that server population is a personal preference.
High/Full population servers are not for everyone.
Good note. I often suggest high pop servers because they offer more opportunities for players. It's easier to ignore people than it is to pay for a server transfer if you need more people. I've already made that mistake myself a couple times.
There are different kinds of WoWs, which one do i play, classic is the OG?
I highly suggest starting with World of Warcraft sometimes called WoW Retail. It’s the most up to date version of the game. Classic is more of a nostalgia experience for players. I would not start with classic
thank you@@TheSwaglock
which one to buy base, heroic or epic edition?
All will give you full access to the game. Heroic and Epic just give some extra stuff. Not necessary
Fuuuuuuuck i did not know you could choose a class. Time to create a new character
Dude literally the first time I played the game I made a human and literally couldn’t figure out how to not die while completing the first quest. Turns out playing a regular dude is really weak
@@TheSwaglock 😆
can i use controller to play it, because i have never used a pc to play a game
Theoretically yes, but with the design of wow I think it would long term put you at a major disadvantage. However, the game starts you off simple and slowly adds more to your plate. I think it would be a great game to get comfortable with on pc
So... what do I do after I've gotten to Ogrimar? There's no hand holding lol
There should be a questline to follow a goblin around the city as they show you how to get your mount and where the inn is. After that you'll get a quest sending you to Zandalar to keep questing.
@TheSwaglock thank you! So I was doing the intro to Death Knight a person had finished the end bit and it skipped it all so now I gotta see what happens to the lich King and why I betray him
Hi thx for this how big an ssd do I require please ?
At least 150gb. Usually it's around 90gb total, but you might get addons and other things that can add up.
@@TheSwaglock Tx for your reply...............🤠
Thanks 😍🤩🤩
i have just started playing wow retail and have finished exiles reach , i chose Hunter as my class currenttly level 14.
I would like to how what’s the proper way to play a character?
Depends on the character, spec, your goals, etc.
broo pls tell me which expansion that is i really ned to know
What if you absolutly do not want to do quests ?
I have watched a few videos on WoW, and it appears very difficult to master. Generally, are there people friendly enough to help you develop your skills and show you how to play?
There definitely are! Our discord is a great resource to ask any questions you have, and finding a guild ingame can be a huge help.
@@TheSwaglock How do I join your Discord?

Just a random question anyone here from Blackwater Raiders?
I stopped playing since lich king in 2012, which expansion should I play now?
I would play Dragonflight!
@@TheSwaglock thanks!
Do Wow runs well on a UltraWide monitor?
Warrior best chad class.
Death Knight is the ultimate Plate Chad
@@TheSwaglock DKs wish they were warriors but couldn’t even stay alive
@@TheSwaglock Survival hunters are the real giga chads.
Do you have to choose the same server Everytime. You log in?
It automatically pulls up the last server you played on each time
I know this video is older but maybe you will see this question.
I know the basics but I haven’t played since MoP has much really changed since ?
Getting started will mostly feel the same. Talent trees are back, leveling is a lot faster, and endgame content is a bit different (Mythic+ Dungeons)
SWAAAAAAG
Ayyoo!!! 😀😀😀
Good video, although I wish you went a little deeper.
Returning after 10 years idk where to start
question. im in the "free version till level 20" but i did research. and came apon wow token.. can i grind gold. and when trail wow is over after level 20. can i immediately buy wow token? i really cant and dont wanna use money. but ill love to use gold.. so can i buy wow token and play wow free after trail?
Great question!! The wow token absolutely can be used to pay for game time, and I personally know many players that do! Theoretically if you had the gold at lvl 20 to buy a token you could get gametime with it, but it's worth noting that gold is much easier to make at max level, and that's how most players who pay for time with gold do so.
@@TheSwaglock thank you. i really enjoy playing wow. last played it when i was like 14 years old. lol long time ago. so i forgot everything. busy learning. as long as i can play the game for free im happy
