I always love how absolutely merciless John is. I'm sat here humming and harring about an old knackered apple tree I don't really like. Feel like John would have hacked it to the ground already and not thought twice.

Last year I purchased a Geranium Rozanne, which I did not know, I heard about it on one of your videos. I have to say it has been one of my best addition to the garden. It blooms at a time when other plants such as Brunneras and Rhododendrons have finished flowering. Rozanne works it's way through the foliage of its neighbors and adds so much life. John thank you for sharing your knowledge it is so appreciated. I have learned a lot. I though I was a not so great gardener and was ready to give up. And now this year my little modest garden is beautiful and I am proud!

You're a terrific gardener John and a great communicator, but I wouldn't let you into my garden if you were carrying a saw or a pair of secateurs. No plant is safe 😉

John, do you fertilize everything (perennials, shrubs) every year or multiple times a year and if so, what do you use?

    • @johnlordssecretgarden

I don’t feed the plants at all, they grow lush enough on our rich clay.

  • @gaillowe8122

I finally figured out why your gardens are so great. Its because you have endless access to thousands of plants. If you get rid of a ten foot square of a plant not performing to expectation, you just plant fifteen plants of another variety, and so on, till it works. At my garden center , fifteen plants may cost three or four hundred dollars or more, and just tossing them out because they may clash a tad with the rudbeckia is not an option . I love your videos, and enjoy your frenetic love and knowledge of the plant world. But, unfortunately, my garden will remain underwhelming .

Curious to know the shrub that got the axe -
Though it is much better now that its gone -
Usually you pot it up for sale, wonder what low value shrub that was?
