    I will always say this, being forced into being the dragonborn limited roleplay

      same, now i found an immersive way to not be dragonborn instantly and i eventually become dragon born way later in the game, i go ask for the jarls aid and then when he starts speaking to avenichi (whatever his name is) it breaks the dialog, so i back off and they send guards to riverwood and i dont go near balgruff until im ready and feel like its time for my character to found out hes dragonborn, unfortunately this means no civil war questline atleast i think, i havent tried, usually after dawnguard and the college and whatever quests are suitable for the character, also the dragon has unique dialog in the soul carn if you havent started the main quest too, he sense you are the dragonborn but your character doesnt know yet saying "perhaps in time it will become clear". man this playthrough has been the most enjoyable. my goal is to collect and fight as many dragon related things before the main questline starts and craft a dragonbone weapon or armour perhaps

    The "Live Another Life" mod is a good one for mixing up multiple playthroughs, especially since it means being able to skip the long Helgen sequence. Also, SkyUI, just because the vanilla inventory UI is garbage, and being able to sort things by more than just alphabetical is great. I refuse to play Skyrim again without SkyUI.
    When I'm playing a very Lawful Good kind of character, I like to do a little thing I call, "due for the dead", inspired by the old mythology of giving a dead person two coins for the ferryman. For any dead person I find where either I don't know the exact circumstances of their death, or I saw them die and I know they didn't die doing something wrong, then I leave one gold coin on them. The only people I won't leave a gold coin with are those I saw doing wrong when they died, (IE, bandits that I killed because they were going to kill me) but again, anytime I find one and I don't know how they died, I give them the benefit of the doubt. Yeah the corpse tag says, "bandit", but for all I know this bandit died actually trying to do the right thing.

    I have a twist of this going on in my current playthrough. My guy knows he has to go to High Hrothgar but doesn’t want to out of lack of belief that his destiny is to become the Dragonborn. Instead he simply lives life. He started off bouncing between cities as a mercenary, started taking bigger quests and stumbled across the Dawnguard, The College of Winterhold and more. He created Lakeview Manor near Falkreath while he stopped the vampires, became the Arch-Mage and destroyed the Dark Brotherhood. He knows the world is better now but he wants to rest. He knows he may be able to change the world for the better if he tries to stop the dragons, but he is tired of battle after killing so many bandits, vampires and more. He has, at least for now, retired to Goldenhill Plantation to start up his farm with his close friend Faendal 🤷‍♂️ internal rp makes it very fun

    Interesting video! I would suggests not only using bound weapons from the Conjuration skill tree, but dead thralls as well, since they can carry items for you.
    Having a Hearthfire House with a carriage is also an option, since that carriage can travel you to far more destinations than rend carriages can.

    My Skyrim Character has done (almost) everything and been (almost) everywhere. Ironically, this means I'm bored and haven't played in over a year, despite genuinely liking it _and_ my character. This video is making me think maybe I can try a whole new save with survival and maybe a different start. Sounds fun.

    I really enjoyed this video. I started playing Skyrim in November 2021, my first Elder Scrolls game. I immediately rushed through most of the main quest (as I thought I was supposed to) without really exploring anything. I was finding myself frustrated that every 15 minutes a dragon would show up and I'd have to stop whatever I was doing to take it down. I also hoarded a ridiculous amount of food, weapons, and armor as I'm used to other games where you need to collect/savethings for quests. (Sure, you have some of that, especially for fetch quests in Riften but overall it's not like anything is terribly hard to come by).
    I too looked into mods and found myself very confused. i read different directions, watched different videos and still couldn't get the hang of it. I was able to install a mod that highlights the books I've read and one that clears the fog off of the map but that was all I managed to figure out lol
    Since that play through I have played without being the Dragonborn and I love it. I recently went back to that first play through and did complete the main story. I'm glad that I did but I didn't miss the dragons. I find the game to be the most fun for me when I'm just wandering around, finding new areas, accepting new quests, and trying out different weapons. Part of what makes Skyrim so special is the ability to play however we want :)

    Playing a completionist is fun in my opinion. Especially with all these Creation Club content to add to the world complete.
    Or try a pacifist run and see how long you can last.
    A law abiding citizen might be something as well.
    Play as a guard; during the Dragon Rising quest the first dragon you need to kill drops some special guard armor. Special in the way that even when you sell it to vendors, it won't leave their inventory upon their inventory being reset.

      I have to agree with this, not just that but I think these mods you were talking about are all on the stream workshop anyway, so if you really don't want to use nexus, (which can be a little more compacted) just use steam, it's a simple as clocking on the stream workshop, then clicking on the mod you like, then pressing subscribe. it's that simple.

    • @Paddy656
      @Paddy656 5 років тому

      @@danielbain2921 well oldrim isn't available for sale anymore so I'm pretty he's stuck with nexus. Nesides, NMM or Vortex is works fine and is really easy to use for simple modding. It's honestly easier and less buggy than anything Bethesda puts out lol.

      Sadly, for some people, like myself, play on PS4. The mods we have are very... bad? Or overly simple, due to Sony’s awful restrictions. We can’t even get SkyUI. But, Creation Club, is treated like DLC, so we can get things like new weapons, modes, and overhauls, and its the only option.

  • @TheMormegil92

    Not really relevant, but your mention that playstyles shape your Skyrim experience a lot made me think back to when I tried playing it.
    I bought Skyrim for 70€ about a year after it came out, on XBox360. I was excited to play it because everybody was touting how great it was. Probably my biggest disappointment in a game, at the very least the one that cost me the most.
    Part of it is that the genre really doesn't do it for me, apparently. I clearly remember, for example, finding a hidden cave underneath a bridge, exploring it, finding out it was a catacomb and that there was a necromancer doing some weird ritual deep inside, guiding an NPC through the dungeon, killing the necromancer and saving the day... and none of it mattered to the world, to my character, or to anything else in the story. It's procedurally generated generic fantasy boredom.
    However, some of it was definitely due to my playstyle - something which I only understood in hindsight. I started with a two handed weapon, got a few levels, then found a better sword which was one handed, and started training with that. The fights were getting tough (probably because I "wasted" some levels and the game thought I was stronger than I truly was) so I got myself a healing spell. Long story short, I ended up face tanking dragon breaths because my healing was stronger than the damage I was taking, while steadily hacking and slashing them down with weak melee attacks. The combat was literally "press R2 a bunch, then L2 when your life gets low, repeat".
    I also didn't know fast travel was a thing (this was my first and also last game of this kind, so I assumed the carts were the only way of getting around that wasn't running) so I traveled the world by running and using the shout that makes you dash (which also aggros and pisses off everyone around you btw). It was kind of ridiculous, and very repetitive.
    I might get back to it at some point, maybe with a different perspective and different expectations I might enjoy it more. Watching the sunset from the top of a mountain after slaying a dragon *did* feel really good.

    • @0DemonKiller0
      @0DemonKiller0 5 років тому +4

      I love playing a monk type character that also uses shouts. Naturally I end up using khajit + gloves of the pugilist combo for maximum unarmed damage, equipped with an amulet of talos.
      I don't really like the exploiting the amulets to get 100% cooldown reduction for shouts, so instead for my non vanilla playthroughs I added in enchantment mods that let me get it "legitimately" without feeling I'm cheating the system too much. After all, I play on pc and can simply console command myself into a god whenever I wish to.

    I do something like this pretty much any time I play Skyrim now because of how many hours I've put in. Using the 'Live Another Life' alternate start mod, Frostfall (weather overhaul), Campfire (Camping/survival-style mod), and iNeed (Requiring food, water, and sleep) I instead take on the role of a traveling hunter who goes from city to city making their way from hunting and skinning animals.
    Another thing I have is an economy rebalance mod that makes it a bit more difficult to end up with thousands of septims by level 3. The economy mod also fits well in the lore of Skyrim due to the ongoing civil war throughout the country.
    As well as that, I have a mod that allows you to play various in-game instruments if you have them when you come into a tavern. It allows you to get some pay for doing so, and the owner usually gives you a free room for the night as well.
    Over all, it makes for a much more interesting experience in the world of Skyrim, and I find it more than enjoyable.
