Ep13 XE FORD FALCON SURVIVOR FIND TURNED INTO A LOW DOLLAR STREET CAR CRUISER.
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- THIS EPISODE WE FOUND A RUST FREE 1983 XE FALCON THAT WAS PARKED FOR YEARS, WE GET IT RUNNING AND WORK ON THE SURVIVOR BODY AND PAINT. THEN GIVE IT A BIT OF STREET PRESENCE WITH NEW WHEELS AND A STANCE. SHE'S LOW DOLLAR BUT A COOL LITTLE STREETER.
SO WHAT IS BACKSHED ALL ABOUT ?
WE ARE ALL ABOUT SAVING OLD CLASSIC CARS AND MODIFIYING SOME ALONG THE WAY TOO.
WE LOVE THE CLASSIC RESCUE , FIRST WASH ,FIRST START IN YEARS TYPE OF THING, GETTING OLD JUNK RUNNING AND DRIVING THEN PUT BACK ON THE ROAD AFTER YEARS OF BEING LEFT TO ROT IS WHAT WE DO.
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR INTO FORD , HOLDEN , CHEVY , BIG BLOCK SMALL BLOCK OR ANYTHING IN BETWEEN WE MIGHT HAVE A VIDEO FOR YOU TO WATCH. IVE HAVE AND HAVE HAD A LOT OF CARS INCLUDING XB COUPE , XY FACLON GT , EH HOLDEN , F100 , VB COMMODORE , HQ SEDAN AND WAGON , CORTINA , VALIANT AND SO MANY MORE SO THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. IN ON OF OUR VIDEOS I PRETTY MUCH WENT TO HEAVEN FINDING A WRECKING YARD / JUNKARD WHERE THERE WAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD DREAM OF INCLUDING A MONARO , CHARGER , VALIANT PACER , A FALCON COUPE , TORANA , CADILLAC , SOME CHEVY'S EVEN SOME JDM CARS LIKE DATSUN , NISSAN SKYLINE , MITSUBISHI SCORPION BUT IT DIDN'T STOP THERE EVEN 4X4 LIKE A HJ 45 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER AND A 60 SERIES WAGON . I REALLY HAVE NO BIAS I LOVE RESCUING THEM ALL SO DO STICK AROUND AS YOUR BOUND TO SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE. CHEERS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WATCH . MICK
That was an awesome job. Love the XDs and XEs. Cracking work!
Thanks Clayton I appreciate it mate.

What a transformation, looks schmick👌
I personally love the XD/E/F on old ROH ZS wheels and would search high and low for a set. Not everyone's cup of tea but Aussie wheels on a classic Aussie cruiser is algood with me
Thanks Darian I appreciate ya watching
Cheers 🍺🍺👍
Good job Mick, you came thru as you said this was coming up soon. My XD is practically the same kind of thing, i even used the same lowrd shocks but used Lovells low springs. You made a great survivor car there and the painting / polishing tips are great advice mate. Keep it up !! Cheers
Thanks again jas
Heaps more coming mate.

You can do a lot to a 250 cross flow and keep that sleeper look. New stance looks great.
Absolutely you can mate they are a good motor , he does look better down low your right mate !
Cheers Chris and thanks for watching.
🍺🍺👍
Hey Mick,
I reckon the poppy may have had the country pack option. That would explain the huge wheel gap.
Poppy ended up looking the business even though he is a ford 👍🏻
Hahaha your obviously a Holden fan Ross?
Mate if a country pack was heavier high springs then you might be right mate I’ve never come across it before but she was TALL hahaha ( and full of hay!!)
Cheers for watching Ron 🍺🍺👍
In a sea of "Will it start in xx years" US based videos, it was amazingly refreshing to see an Aussie video bringing the same model as my first car back to life! Nicely edited, and great information! I learned a fair bit! #subscribed.
I really appreciate ya saying Mark thanks . I hope ya stick around mate because we have heaps coming from rescues to hi performance stuff mate.
Cheers for watching mate.

What a neat car. Speaking from the states, this looks like an ideal rig in terms of clean styling, size and RWD configuration with a cross-flow six. Ford AU got this right, and your efforts to save it.
Cheers mate

Go mad buy some new springs and swaybars and bushes. At 400k country car they would be tired and shocks.Remember buying rear shocks for a Xf Over $200 I said mate I just want stock he said they are gas monroe
Great video of another great Aussie Falcon, always loved the 80's Falcons loved the look of them and the sheer reliability of them.
Great work getting another one back on the road, but sometimes they don't all have to be converted to V8's 😉
I hear ya Callum sometimes they need to be just left alone and cheers for watching mate

i have a mint original matching numbers xd 351 but i would love something like this with a na barra and zf 6 speed economical with a bit, of zip good job
A WB, couple of HQ's, an EH, couple of big utes, huge garage with a hoist, acreage. Where are the money trees planted ? Serious coin needed for all this. Good for you mate.
Thanks for watching Dave but yeah they aren’t cheap these days, I’ve had the Xy and the Eh since I was a teenager and they were worth nothing but yeah I’d love a sponsor hahhhaha but a lot of hard work and nightshifts for all the rest you see mate.

Had the estate version same year and colour, but it would drink the water and I could never see where it was going
Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!!! (BABBVEN LAWS AND TEBBVEN ORDERS)
Mate that’s heavy !
I’m not sure what to reply?
I love cars and am not sure what I’d do if classics couldn’t live on? I think the green thing is out of control.

Great Video, New subscriber here.
Thanks Dave I appreciate the comment and thanks for subscribing mate .
What are you into? We have plenty coming.

Another great clip Mick. Always liked the XDs and XEs for the straight lines and square corners, prefer the XD due to the grill.
You never told us about the aircleaner / carby bolt being in the wrong spot, what was the deal with that?
Glad you kept the sunvisor, a real grandad fixture and something that can make the car stand out from others.
How did you get on with the coils? Do they fall out when you jack the car?
I had an XB V8, lowered 2.5", the darn coils always fell out of the front of that.
Keep up the great work mate, love the shows.
Thanks for watching mate
Nope coils won’t fall out they aren’t that short
With the air cleaner I’d say someone stripped the thread on the air cleaner bolt then moved it to another one .
🍺👍
You call that a poverty pack??
I had an XE in cream with a four on the floor and the 3-3 six. It was as bare as XE's came:- no air, steer or clock fitted. It was likely ordered by the purchasing department of some government body, with no options boxes ticked whatsoever. Shortly after I purchased it, I added a set of XD Ghia rims to lift it's appearance, along with a hood ornament and decent sound system with four speakers.
I had it about five and a half years, but rust set in eventually.
It was the sort of car that......... required you to be involved as a driver, being an underpowered, manual vehicle. Cars these days just don't give you that experience.
Hahahah yep I hear ya mate
🍺🍺👍
Amazing what a little TLC can do, A mate of mine had one of those in his yard with a Tree growing through behind the front bumper, Wish I took a photo it was better than modern art, he managed to destroy a Fairmont Ghia XF too, the guy was a Ford Vandal!.Anyway that came up awesome just a cool old cruiser that dont need know engine swap.
I agree mate just drive it 🍺🍺🍺👍
Great job. Did you get a wheel alignment?
Hahah
Yeah mate I’ll get an alignment before it’s regod bud.
Thanks for watching mate
🍺🍺👍
Hey Mick
Xe of that vintage with oil usage will almost certainly be valve guide oil seals
If you turn her off and restart after say refuelling and she blows a cloud of smoke … this is definitely valve guides
I’ve changed heaps of em
Put each cylinder on top dead centre compression stroke
Put air pressure on cylinder
You can make a tool out of an old spark plug with the guts knocked out and an air fitting brazed to the top where porcelain used to be
You know the drill
Take collets and spring off one at a time and replace seals
Makes a huge difference
The other problem with older 250 / 6’s is the timing chains get incredibly stretched
Watch the timing for float !!!
Great old beasts and very reliable
🍺👍
Alongside the foulcan, the Hq cuts an impressive figure.
Haha J B if your a Hq fan mate hang in there as mucus is up next.

Can't believe the difference wheels and dropping the ride height make. I had a mate order a brand new XF I think it was manuel with a carburettor engine. EFI was the big thing and he had a time getting one.

Broken door handles xd xe worst falcons ever made. In 80s I went threw 20 door handles in a month. No matter how much you adjust the door or shim the hinges or place the clip on the handles. Them bastards kept snapping and at the end left it with windows down to access the car and since 93 been rusting away in the yard makes me smile as it falls apart
Hahahhaha that’s classic

The air cleaner lid looks like it’s off an XD with single barrel carb, Modified to suit the alloy head 2 barrel Webber carb.
Awesome rig mate, maybe it could be time for a turbo Clevo??
I didn’t think of that Nathan that I might not be the stock air cleaner mate ?
As for the turbo Clevo mate hang around I just bought a 1975 TD cortina and they scream engine swap! And we still have the Xy’s old motor doing nothing?? Ya on to something mate
Cheers 🍺🍺👍
Looks to me like an XF air cleaner assembly fitted, the XD & E had oval shaped lids with two bolts.
It come up good! I love them, growing up my Dad had an XD, XE and a XA. I’ve messing with two XFs at the moment, have a white 91 Ute in Perth I’ve lowered 4”, put on new 15x8 jelly beans, 2.5” exhaust, new tail gate, cleaned the interior and it’s my daily and in NZ I’ve got an 87 efi Fairmont sedan which is lowered on 14x8 jelly beans, full 3” exhaust, 5 speed manual, gt35 turbo on her with a custom exhaust manifold, custom alloy welding intake manifold about to go on next trip over, big injectors etc, blacked out intercooler. Was making 300kw/ 410hp out of the old crossflow at the wheels with the standard intake so be good to see what it makes with the new one. It has nothing to give away its power, looks like a lowered cruiser
Has a Haltech ecu and the Haltech ic7 digital dash in it as well as wasted spark coils from a later falcon instead of single coil and dizzy. She might come over to Aussie when shipping prices come down
Sweet👍👍🍺
That was quite a transformation! Interior went from night to day. Nice choice on wheels and great tip on painting. 👍 Bloopers were so funny lol
By the way, could you do a small tutorial on HQ stainless steel trim clips and fitting? Various shapes n sizes front, back and around but not a lot of info about them on internet.
Love your work mate, best of luck

I learned to drive in an XE Falcon 'X-Pac' that we bought from a family friend. It had been sitting in a backyard surrounded by weeds for years. We picked it up for $800 back in 1996. I used to drive it to Muswellbrook high school, my mates and I used to cruise up to Scone cinema on Friday nights or weekends. We had it for years until it got sold to someone who lived either in Muswellbrook, it may have even been Aberdeen. Apparantly he used to take in on big long trips to South Australia. Great cars but couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Climbing hills it valve bounced so much you swear you were going to see dimples in the bonnet!
Hahaha that’s funny , sound like your just down the road mate 🍺🍺👍
Falcontastic!
I preferred it with the original wheels and height...that height and the steel rims is what made it an XE.
Love your videos...reminds me of the shit I used to do on cars but can't/won't any more - so I'm reliving my younger days through your vids - thanks!

Good girl,,,and you call it poppy , no wonder a man gets confused 😮
Hahahaha over thinking it mate 🍺🍺🍺👍
How cool, except the hood, grille-headlight area, it basically looks like a MkII Granada, I suppose it's the same platform, but is it? You really resurrected it anyway, great job, from a beater to a really cool, clean and subtle daily in few smart steps, in my opinion with a set of fat, reversed old school 14s or 15s they gain so much character, or in the UK a very popular look was slapping 15" AMG five spokes, 16" if you were lucky as they are kinda rare, they became popular because of the same bolt pattern, they fit almost flush and they have a respectable dish, a real win, unfortunately these days they're probably quite expensive, but what nice wheel isn't? Just rumbling anyway, I'm not criticizing or trying to tell you how to build your car in any way, and I totally respect and understand not wanting to drag at every bump 😅
I had one til last year btw, a wagon, it was almost a van with the seats down, huge car, but I never managed to turn it into what I wanted as it needed too much fixing, so if all goes to plan I'll soon hunt for a sedan to turn into what I described above. I dont know how I got fixated on these cars, they are objectivly ugly! 😅 But when lowered (and yes!! They are ridiculously tall!! 😅) they have that 80s bad boy look, particularly the ghia trim that is chocked full of accessories and interior options, very tacky! 😅 Is it the same for the Falcon? In Europe it was a straight luxury car when new, aimed at executives and such. In the UK it dominated the company car market and was loved by actual gangsters, only in the Ghia trim though, subtle wasn't the name of the game for those guys..
These were sold in South Africa as Ford Granada. The last iteration of that moniker indeed.
🍺🍺👍

Hey Terry how ya doing mate , you’ve obviously watched a couple of videos , stato and xe etc , thanks for watching mate and yep there’s more coming soon buddy. As for your projects? Stop talking and get into them hahaha 🍺👍
Cheers mate
